grade promotion C ceremony of 2024 my name is Franchesca O'Neal and I'm honored to be standing before you all today for those of you who don't know me I moved to haddenfield from Texas before the beginning of seventh grade although I haven't lived here my whole life I have nothing but praise for our school these past two years that I have spent at HMS have been two of my best I have grown so much as a person during my time at our school I have to thank Mr klouse Dr priolo Mr tant miss schulties Mr Ruben HMS faculty members of the PTA and of the Board of Education parents family and friends for making our school the wonderful place that it is today we have all come so far and wouldn't be here without them now you may be thinking about all of the challenges and adversities that most of us have face during our time at Middle School let's be honest as a class we have gone through a lot starting Middle School was a big adjustment not to mention the fact that we started Middle School right after hybrid learning stopped I know that Middle School certainly wasn't easy for me moving to a new school was scary knowing that almost all my classmates have lived in handfield their whole lives I wasn't sure how I would break into the Inner Circle or find my friends I had to learn how to reach out to others and connect with people that I didn't know slowly but surely I began to find my place at our school although not everyone had the same experience as me many of us will face similar challenges that we did in sixth grade as we transition to the high school like a new building with lots of people that we don't know and new teachers and classmates the only difference is that now we have so many experiences that we can reference many things that we know now which we learned during our time at middle school so when we think about all of the hard times and challenges that we have faced over the past years we should also think about all the good that has come with it we should think about all of the lessons we have learned and all of the friends that we have made through all of it getting a bad grade on a test caused us to try harder on the next one and sitting next to someone that we didn't know caused us to make a new friend while middle school has thrown lots of challenges and obstacles at us it has also given us the tools to overcome greater challenges in the future when I look at this group of individuals I see one thing that we all have in common the ability to persevere we made it through the pandemic and online learning we made it through the hard tests and the long hours of homework we made it through the challenge all the changes and all the adjustments if there is one thing to take away from these past 3 years rather than focusing on on all of the Middle School drama or the challenging assignements let all of the learning and growth that we have experienced let it be all of the growth and the learning that we have experienced compared to everything else that's what's truly important before I incl conclude once again thank you all for being here on this Monumental day this is just one of many stepping stones that will pave the way to our future as I look at my classmates I can already see a place for our class in the bright future ahead I can tell that we will see great things from the HMS class of 2024 thank [Applause] you I would now like to invite tal aasai to the podium to share her Reflections on the HMS 2023 to 2024 school year thank you Frankie and good evening everyone my name is Talia sasai and I am honored to have the opportunity to be here before you today eighth grade promotions serves as a time to recognize our accomplishments over the past three years and our achievements that we have made as a class some of these may be very apparent and others may appear in insignificant but all deserve equal recognition when we first walked through the flag P doors on our first day of 6th grade we were a class full of shy timid and nervous students but as I stand before you today I see a group of confident capable strong young adults many of us came into middle school with false precepts of what lay ahead the typical movie stereotype is that middle school is a Place full of popularity contests and Securities and while I don't disagree with this I do believe that middle school is much more than this Middle School also serves as a time to find your identity and discover yourself the past three years have played a huge part in shaping me and my peers and left a class full of hardworking determined and capable students however we have not gotten here alone without the endless support from our teachers and family members none of us would be standing here today honestly able to say that we are as ready and prepared for the future as we will ever be as a class we have taken part in many activities and events that have contributed to our growth as students and as people as we reflect on our time in Middle School many of us wouldn't be talking about the things we learned about Mesopotamia or algebra but the events that have brought us together as one one experience all HMS students treasure is the volleyball tournament at the the end of the year between raising thousands of dollars to pick a t-shirt color and buying large amounts of puffy paint and glitter for decorating it is evident that all students care about and love this unique experience other events that Define our Middle School experience include dances and Spirit Week a student council tradition spirit week is a favorite for many students when the whole school comes together and sits in the bleachers to cheer on their classmates it is clear that all the students enjoy these activities and what they bring to our school additionally each year we get the opportunity to go on a fun outdoor field trip with our friends whether to JCC tll puns or Six Flags all students love the chance to relax with swimming sports or even roller coasters just this year we also got to see plays about stories we read in class at the chamber theater and explore the world of the US Constitution at the national Constitution Center many of these experiences have shaped our journey through middle school and we will forever remember them as we move on in the future as some will say we survived middle school but in truth we didn't just survive we beat expectations and are leaving HMS to venture off on a New Journey known as high school to conclude these last three years have proved to be very impactful and meaningful in all of our lives and we will forever remember and cherish them after spending three years with these individuals learning and growing alongside them the future has never seemed so bright and I cannot wait to see what it holds for us thank [Applause] you at this time our choir e e8th grade choir will sing a song they have chosen titled rainbow for for e [Applause] good evening parents families superintendent Mr clouse assistant superintendent Dr priolo board members esteemed faculty and most importantly our eighth grade class it is with great pride and joy that I stand before you today to celebrate the end of our eighth graders Middle School Journey this marks a significant Milestone as a transition from middle school to high school and move closer to achieving their goals and dreams eighth graders as I wrote speech I reflected on the year and was filled with a sense of hope and confidence that you will do great things in the future that will make all those in your life proud as we shared in presentations early in the school year you entered middle school as either a cheetah dragon or tiger but you're leaving a dog and will always be a dog from now on that comes with a lot of responsibility and I am confident that you will be able to proudly represent haddenfield wherever you go in life and all your future endeavors take a moment and think back to your first day of middle school it was most likely was a mix of different emotions ranging from excitement to being nervous you did not know what to expect during the next few years but think of who you are now you have conquered academic hurdles built lifelong friendships learned about your passions and developed a sense of identity of who you want to become I've always been told it's not the destination but the journey I'm not sure where I've heard this but I believe it's not the destination or the journey but it is the People You Meet along the way you have been on the you have not been on this journey alone your teachers have been guides to help you along the way to introduce you to new ideas and thinking your parents have always supported you celebrated your successes and picked you up when needed their love and encouragement or what got you to this point and make sure that after the ceremony you thank them for everything theyve done for you maybe even thank them in advance for everything that they will do for you don't forget you'll begin your driver's license soon today is a celebration of your achievements and a moment to think about the future High School will bring you new challenges and opportunities take the time to dive deeper into your passions and enjoy the process the next four years will fly by here are some things I wish I had known sooner that I want to share with you today welcome change change is not always easy but can bring the greatest rewards each change in your life opens up new opportunities for growth and learning stay curious never stop asking questions and seeking seeking answers curiosity fuels your intellectual growth and Discovery be kind you never know what someone else is going through your active kindness can make a significant difference in their day believe in yourself you are capable of anything never let anyone diminish Del Light Within You value relationships the friendships and connections you form are invaluable support one another celebrate each other's successes and always be willing to offer help when needed it was a challenge to decide had to conclude this speech after much reflection I realized that I want to share most is how much I will miss all of you you all made me feel welcome when I became the new assistant principal last year we've spent coun countless hours talking in the hallways during recess or at dismissal did you make being a Yankees fan easy no did you make being a dolphins fan easy that would be a strong no despite our differences in sports teams and debates over the goat and basketball I always enjoyed our daily convers ations thank you for providing me with lasting memories I'm excited to see what the future holds for each and every one of you let me just say congratulations this is just
