on our agenda item number five uh approval of the agenda and were additions and I believe there were two yep we have uh two additions both to Personnel uh we have a motion that was added to approve the following maternity leave for 2425 school year employee ID 6701 forette teacher at brakman and then we had an additional uh two motions that the salary uh was uh changed one by4 cents 1 by 20 cents it was motions 5f and 5G and the salary should be reflective of 25 8 per hour which would be reflective of Step 13 for both of those drivers okay can I get a motion to approve those changes so thank you so much uh good evening to everyone joining us here today and I'm happy to see so many new faces uh for those of you who may not know me my name is Daniel Hoffman and I'm a senior at BHS this year and I'm happy to be here today representing the barning student body as a student government president at the high school uh just a few brief items today and circumstantially just a few updates really uh with school back in session the high school has just officially ended our homecoming festivities and I would be remiss not to acknowledge the great deal of spirit that came along with that our week started with some fun spirit days but towards the end of the week it was win after win for Bengal Athletics and has been all season girls field hockey girls volleyball and Esports all swept big wins last Thursday but what was truly amazing was Thursday night when we held our annual homecoming bonfire and after a z to zero start the boy soccer team came up and won a 3 to1 game as students filled the stands and cheered for their Bengals the day after our football our football team took home a 42-6 blowout Victory against Mammoth Regional leading to an even better dance last Saturday week after week our students are showing up and putting in the work both in the classroom and on the fields this year has already shown great promise as our Bengals are already showing their determination and commitment to hard work special shout outs to miss nicolini Mr Miss South the student government and the spirit club for coordinating such an amazing week as well as students Riley donlin who sang at the national anthem at Friday's pep rally as well as our homecoming king and queen Todd Muhammad and Olivia Carl and a huge thank you to our Administration for the collaboration on yet another successful homecoming just looking forward a little bit this Friday the football team will face off against Manchester away at 6 p.m. but we are very excited to announce that the student section has officially been put on wheels with the help and support of Mr Jano we will be able to bust a portion of our students and all of our great school spirit to an away game for the first time in what feels like forever and we hope this is the first of many exciting opportunities for our students clubs are also back in full swing fishing club FBLA speech and debate student government and so many others are back in action helping to expand student opportunities outside of the classroom once again and I cannot wait to see how far these clubs go this year our seniors are gearing up for the college application season and it's a very exciting but very demanding time for all of us in the thick of it but we wish them all the best of luck as we push farther into the Year and hope they all end up where they truly belong I also just want to congratulate all of our upstanders this month it's you who will truly go on to make a difference in this world especially if you've already had such a great impact in this community and for now that's all for me again as I've said before I encourage anyone with questions concerns or interest to please reach out your thought and input is crucial to our Bea liazon Mrs morganoff hi thank you the Bara Education Association would like to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to each and every one of you sitting up here for your unwavering support and dedication to providing a smooth start to the school year your efforts and tireless commitment have undoubtedly laid a strong foundation for the success and growth of our educational Community the Bea would also like to thank our Administration for all the meticulous planning and preparation that took place over the summer and lastly we want to thank the members of our amazing staff and the further barate schools Community for their commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment thank you thank you Miss Morgan appreciate it um next item on our agenda is item nine committee discussions each chair person of the committee will give a um a little fill in of what's Happening under committee um this month and if nothing then nothing I'll start off Miss tarnowski uh with Finance chair is the finance committee Finance met on September 18th we discussed various topics starting with the update to the name of the Beast show um as Benny's Bengal bites which we think is all perfect we received an update as the items needed to purchase in the cafeteria including but not limited to Walkin at Horbelt needing to be replaced steamer two ovens which which will help bring down the Surplus for the Food Service fund neutr serve has rolled out a program to make all food on each School site previously it was made at the high school and brought down to each school they're receiving positive feedback from the students and school food ordering is higher than it's ever been we'd like to extend a thank you to the generous donations to the district from that are all listed on the agenda and that's it thank you right thank you m tarnaski um next up I believe is Athletics I know Mr fedori who a chairperson is not here uh but we did meet on Tuesday if my memory is right or Monday sorry the 16th um and as you can see on here we have uh several volunteer coaches that are uh being approved one two three four five volunteer coaches which is outstanding um assistant baseball uh coach uh assistant baseball to supervisor sorry and uh a couple of clinics that will be approved so again thank you to Mr jamano for that and next uh is buildings grounds and transportation the chairperson is Miss wasburn thank you the buildings grounds and transportation committee um met on September 16th Monday uh key updates include Benny's Bengal bites where plumbing and cabinet work are ongoing and facility maintenance with boilers undergoing preventative maintenance and significant equipment replacement planned uh custodial staff training is complete and playgrounds have been replenished in transportation five new bus drivers were hired and the fleet remains in good condition the district is awaiting delivery of new buses and exploring electric vehicle options via a grant uh Bill time changes posed um challenges initially but were resolved within a few days uh new routing software is being considered and the transportation department is still actively recruiting additional drivers okay that's it thank you Miss wasburn uh next up is our education committee chairperson is Mrs churny and she is virtual so turn the hi everyone can you hear me yes we can yes we can hear you okay uh thank you Mr President good evening everyone the education committee met on September 17th to discuss various motions and updates you'll see on tonight's agenda several motions for approval a motion to approve strengthening famili family's program program we've had but has expanded this program offers parental classes on how to keep students engaged in school we also have a motion to approve the list of licensed service animals for the school year 2425 um we also have our regular motions for work-based learning College University placements continuing ed education requests field trips and outof District workshops in Old business we discussed career day at Barney at high school um we had a date change we are confirming vendors and um the date now is for November 18th in new business we discussed handwriting cursive curriculum materials and resources will be provided by teachers to add to their Google classrooms for grades 4 through eight um if they didn't get that material lastly we have good news um in October Ocean County College will send a team of Representatives for a day or possibly two days um they push into all Senior English classes to give a brief presentation about College financial aid and the opportunities at OCC we have an AP curriculum I can't pronounce that word at OCC it's happening throughout the month of October um we also have to congratulate Tara Carol uh Lillian dumpy teacher was selected to present on the topic you small group every day at the New Jersey Association for education of young children Conference in October our next meeting is for October 15th thank you Miss Cherney uh next is governance and the chairperson is Miss constanza thank you Mr President um governance committee met September 18th on tonight's agenda there's approval for the following board motions motion one and two are second readings and uh for the list of policies on tonight's agenda motion two is for regulations on tonight's agenda motion three is to approve the first reading of policy 160 0168 the recording Board of of board meetings as of tonight the board meetings will not be live going forward the board meetings barring any unforeseen circumstances the video shall be posted within the next 72 hours of the board of educ Education meeting also um motion four is a motion to move the Board of Education to suspend the rules of the bylaw 0131 requiring two board readings to adopt policy 5331 management of lifethreatening allergies in the schools with one reading to have this policy effective for September 25th 2024 uh the revision of policy 5331 is if a student risk of exposure impacts more than five classrooms within the same school the building principal and administration will defer to the superintendent the superintendent the Board of Education the school districts legal counsel and school physician will work in collaboration to determine the appropriate action to be taken our next um meeting will be held October 16th thank you uh next committee is health safety technology chairperson is Mr A Amante thank you the health safety and Technology committee uh held its monthly meeting on September 19th at that time the following topics were discussed on the health uh staff members will be trained in CPR and the proper use of an EpiPen the week of October 7th at the Baraga first aid Squad building uh field trips and nursing standard operating procedures were discussed uh a flu clinic will be offered to staff only by R Aid sometime in October um on the safety the district Safety Committee will hold its next meeting on December 19th uh a motion is in tonight's agenda to dispose of all radios that are no longer working or not compatible uh with the ones that are being used now uh also the security coordinator advised the committee that all door magnets were removed um from the classroom doors and this would prevent the doors from being pulled out um the Raptor system is working is up and running uh with the use of the national sex offender registry and our security department and the barate police department will be notified immediately if there is an issue uh with someone coming into the building uh uh the business administrator will be looking at the quotes from sinatrol uh regarding additional cameras and access needs um under technology all teachers and students have received their devices Chromebooks and laptops thank you all right thank you Mr imonte uh and lastly in the committee is is Personnel I'm the chairperson of personnel um I'll kind of go over a brief few things we uh have on the agenda uh new elementary teacher at the Collin school um a special ed teacher at Donahue a couple of par Professionals for the Asus program a par par professional for the high school and two new believe full-time yeah bus drivers um for the district and the rest are again um just trying to see if there was anything else on here and that is really the ones that stand out that is all on Personnel all right all right next on our agenda item 10 is superintendent highlights information and comments and I'll turn the floor over to Dr LS all right I'd like to welcome Mr Gunderson up to the deis so we can jump into our upstander Awards thank you thank you good evening everybody so the upstander program is a wonderful opportunity to recognize and celebrate students districtwide who demonstrate a specific bangal pride trait these traits continue to enhance the positive climate in our schools as well as the home school and community this month our student um exemplifies the b in the bangal pride traits for benevolence and we're very excited to present students with a gift card from one of our local restaurants Vin's Pizzeria so when you hear your name please come forward to join board president Mr Sno and superintendent Dr lwis to receive your plaque and gift certificate first up Abdul Holmes on the first day of school abdulah was filling out a pass in the counseling office when another student came in confused about the of his next class before anyone could respond Abdul immediately offered to show the student where to go this simple genuine act of kindness demonstrated a meaningful peer connection that like likely had a big impact on the Lost student Abdul's willingness to help a fellow classmate without hesitation is a perfect example of benevolence congratulations Abdul abisai picas Gonzalez in an inclination to be kind is part of the definition of benevolence although school has just begun it is apparent that abisai is intrinsically benevolent no one ever had to remind him to be nice to his siblings to share with his friends or to be polite to adults he was born that way abisai Smiles all the time and never forgets his manners he makes sure others are okay before taking care of himself when you're near him you can feel his kindness coming from within congratulations conat Colin defiz in the very first day of school Colin has consistently shown attentiveness to others whether it's by holding the door sharing supplies or collaborating with his team partner while his softspoken demeanor might be seen as reserved he is fully present and attuned to the needs of those around him despite facing some adversity Colin has chosen to remain kind and positive in his interactions with others congratulations Colin Bradley Zinger since the first day of school Bradley has demonstrated exceptional kindness and support in the classroom with several students still learning English he's taken it upon himself to assist them with lessons and classroom routines Bradley ensures they are on the correct page in their workbooks and helps them find the key information needed to understand the lesson his actions come from a genuine place of compassion not for recognition or rewards jtds is fortunate to have Bradley this year congratulations Bradley Liliana groenhoff Lana consistently demonstrates a genuine eagerness to learn and always put forth her best effort she follows the rules treats others with respect and is polite kind and helpful to her classmates Liliana is a perfect role model for her peers and truly deserves this recognition congratulations Liliana Ruby trans Ruby has started this year as a wonderful example of a kind and helpful friend she shows empathy to her friends when they are sad offering toys or hugs to make them feel better in the classroom Ruby shows leadership by helping her friends transition to the next activity whether it's lining up or turning off the lights when it's time to go outside congratulations [Applause] r Jackson [Applause] Santos Jackson has made a smooth transition to first grade he is kind to his classmates loves his teachers and is always eager to help Jackson is often one of the first students to offer assistance when something falls on the ground he listens to directions works well in groups and enjoys playful interactions with his teachers his smile is always present brightening the classroom congratulations Jackson thank you congratulations to all the students and thank you to the [Applause] parents conratulations
