expansion aid grant money from the state of New Jersey and we're very excited to on May 1st launch our part day our partial Day program into two full day classrooms now ultimately this is the start of an Endeavor that we hope to grow and we hope to grow as rapidly as our schools will allow I can say here publicly and we've said it many times before uh we have some square footage challenges and we're hoping to rectify that the board is um partnering with us to engage in some opportunities to be very creative to see how we can add some square footage so ultimately we can offer full day three-year-old and four-year-old pre prek to all of the students in our prek universe and we're very excited to see that happen over the course of the next several years so right now we're looking to enter next year with two full day classrooms and uh are exploring opportunities as we speak to see that uh expansion take place actually during uh the school year next year so uh we are excitedly looking at some opportunities to expand our footprint and add to the square footage of our district which ultimately in term will offer some prek opportunities to our families uh who will very much benefit from uh quality prek full day education at zero cost to families so um next month or excuse me next week uh we'll be having our public hearing on the proposed 2024 2025 budget that's on April share as anybody else okay I'm moving on to uh section N9 committee reports we did have a policy committee meeting this month uh Mr Evans yes uh the policy and legislative committee met online bya Google meet on Monday February 5th the committee and a commitment to a board goal this year continued the process of reviewing the existing policies starting with the Thousand series of policies the board reviewed the second group of policies within the 1,000 series among this work is an updated organizational chart that's so NOP sorry that was our old one uh is this from where is excuse me for a second is got it thanks the policy and legislative committee met online via Google meet march on March 28th via VIA Google meet the committee began with a review of the latest policy alert issued by Strauss Esme the review of those policies resulted in some recommended language updates that are included in tonight's agenda for consideration the committee spent time reviewing policies related to home school students and the district's extracurricular programs the board reviewed the current policies and determined that they would need to take time to do more research before implementing any immediate changes select members of the committee were assigned tasks to help and form the group ahead of the next committee where our discussions will continue the next meeting for the policy committee is scheduled for April 23rd during that meeting the committee looks forward to reviewing the policy audits results provided to the district from Strauss Esme and continuing the discussion about the for mention policies that govern homeschool and extracurricular [Music] participation thank you Mr Evans uh Miss ion can I have a motion to approve section n item a committee reports so move second second thank you Mr trumpe comments or questions from the board hearing none we'll take vote Mr Maker i i i i i i i i i motion approved uh moving on to section n public comment uh members of the public are reminded that comments in this section should be limited to items appearing on this meeting's agenda there will be another opportunity during this meeting to comment on non agenda items all member of the public wishing to speak on agenda items only should raise their hands to indicate their wish to speak when called upon participants should State their first and last name and address clearly for the record hi Edie bosski from cinamon so I actually printed all the revisions of the policies that you have on your site they're really hard to follow um there are some discrepancies where it's marked as a revision but in reality it's a new policy almost the way it's written especially policy 2260 it is a completely different name completely different wording and I printed the old one just so you know um there's a a new policy 1140 which I couldn't find on the current District website let's start with that one first so 1140 says it's a revision but it doesn't exist on the current School website so if somebody can point me where that is where the old version of that policy is that would be great um policy 2200 curriculum content I like where it's leading but I would like to know what action is going to happen with this policy and would would this be done through a committee is it just up to the superintendent like is it just kind of a rule all it's very open-ended and it's leading uh let's get to the next one uh uh going back to 11:40 there's training reference in this policy as well will that training be posted somewhere will the parents be able to find what training are you indicating or relying on it also mentions an affirmative action officer which coincidentally is also in Old policy 2260 so is the 1140 just an adop like an adapted version of 2260 and rebranded and renamed and who is that affirmative action officer for the school is there one for school is there one per District um and then 2260 which was the old affirmative action policy is actually equity in schools and classroom practices now so I would love to meet with whoever this is and kind of figure out what the old versions of these were because when you look at the versions on the district right now on the site right now these are new these aren't revisions these aren like cross outs and and updates these are very much new um then let's go to budget cuz that's my favorite uh so I printed the budget and I went through it and there is a lot of there's two buckets for other spending and it's quite a lot of money in those buckets I would love an explanation of what falls under other spending uh because there's millions in there so if we're spending on other things other than administrative salaries a classroom things teacher aids whatever it is what goes into other that has millions of dollars in there um I don't know if any other parents are you know this is my fun uh there is some almost a million dollars left in special education that's unspent and unallocated I'm hoping it's on just unallocated or allocated and not spent I would love to know why we have a million dollars left over when parents are struggling to get services for their kids in the district um and again I have a lot of notes I don't want to take up your time but I would love to go over them this is what I do for work outside of this so thank you thank you m palowski that's 201 the policies we have yeah 11 I'm looking right last RIS in in July 2016 they all in there they all from let me let me just uh say this I'm looking forward to to meeting with you next Monday but uh you raise a lot of questions and I'm certainly happy to go through each and every one of them with you personally as give them the time that they deserve and if you still have some questions uh after you and I meet to discuss them then uh we can continue to follow up until we get all of your questions and concern answers and I if you s be ahead of time of the meeting might make our meeting a little bit more productive too so I know we're meeting as a group but if you'd like to stick around we can certainly meet oneon-one thank you I appreciate it any other members of the public who would like to speak on agenda items all right we are moving on to section 11 personnel certified and non-certified IED Mr Capello thank you Mrs Fitzwater under Section 11 letter A seeking the board to month of May and you can double down on May 21st with Aus fundraiser as well we'll have our spirit Weare set up at Spring Market as well as cinnamon since upcoming Mayday with some new Styles and sizes being debuted soon the absolute easiest way that the cinamon district Community can support seas' efforts at no addition cost is by linking your shopright or Walmart rewards accounts with the Box Toops for Education app we earn about $1,000 in passive income each year just by having people choose New Albany or Rush school to benefit finally I just want to take this opportunity to recognize and thank the other parent volunteers who make up our board Mary rosengarten Caroline kotlov Jill Applebee Diana Rogers Katie featherer Melissa chatle and Aaron nowicki these women give so much of their time talents and energy to making our annual plan possible each year I'm so proud to work alongside them and I'm so grateful for their dedication in closing I'd also like to express our gratitude for Mrs Jones and Mrs D Simone and Mrs meley and Mrs Oliver as well and their teams at new ALB and rush we appreciate you always making space for our programs and activities as well as for our ideas and thank you very much for the opportunity to provide this update thank you Mrs merer we certainly appreciate all of your efforts I'm sorry one other coming up right now thanks good evening my name is Anthony flunder I live at 248 Justin drive it's my first time ever being here if I get a little motion you got to excuse me I've been here for 10 years my daughter graduated in 2020 I have a athletic scholar student that's in 10th Grade and I have my 12-year-old daughter today was the second time that my daughter was called a black monkey when we send our kids to school they should feel safe they should feel included cinnamon is a nice racist town I've ever been in my life I'm a state law enforcement officer I treat everybody fairly that is my job I'm held to a higher standard my dad is a retired cinnamon cop he's deceased so when I came here based of what I knew growing up and how he talked about camenson I thought it was going be a great place I have endured a lot of heartache and heartbreak in the last six years I've been here every time I bring something up it's swep under the rug a school bus driver before the spring break before wining break told my daughter to get to get the F on the bus I called the middle school they said they will investigate I gave him a chance gave him Grace cuz it was towards the end went a break nothing was said ever since then no one no one's kid is perfect my daughter was contemp was contemplating suicide at age of 10 because she didn't feel included and then now she's getting with a crowd of kids that look like her that identify her because now you're you're Middle School you like to move around and just because they look like you that mean they're always good for you but because she wants to be accepted she's acting out I've never had any discipline problems at any of my four dooters until then um I need your help because everybody comes here for a reason and their own personal agendas but the the main agenda is to do what's best for our children and School District if we're not on the same page if you get if she gets a fair if her daughter gets a fair treatment but then his doesn't we failed that person it's see we all pass it as a group no one gets left behind it don't matter if you're gay transgender Jewish Muslim it doesn't it doesn't matter we're all here for the bment of our kids and we're failing our kids a lot of black and brown people that are here in this school district they don't speak because what happens is it's little fires that get put out everywhere so and they're afraid to speak up and it's not fair I need your help cuz if I don't get the help I'm going to go to the news I'm going to call the nation Islam I'm going to the South Jersey and the ACP and I will get the help where help is needed every anytime I've asked for Hippa I mean I asked for the HB when my door was at rush four were HIV uh incidents so I asked that principal how many was race not that many how many two that's 50% that's not good enough for me we can't help what people are taught but when they come to that school things are they're they're supposed to be held to a standard and it hurts that don't have no idea how it feels when you're not the majority it's really heartbreaking so what id like to know is how many black and brown applicants have applied this year how many black and BR applicants have been interviewed because we should the staff should be a reflection of the senses in this town I don't think we're meeing that quarter thank you thank you Mr [Applause] flunder hello um my name is Kristen Rooney I live at 1313 Columbia Avenue um my questions are more time sensitive um my son is at Memorial School right now so we just got the wonderful news that ipk was accepted the grant um for the preschool education Aid however we have not received any information of the children who are currently there um the only information that we have received is that they will start going full-time on May 1st and we don't know bus situations what the day will look like um lunch for the kids if my child will receive more services given he is part of the integrated side of things since he is going full day now um we're two weeks away and it's been hard to prepare my child given he is part of the integrated group to kind of prepare him for full day which is wonderful in a sense that we get to prepare him for kindergarten I'm very happy happy about that um but it has been a struggle to try and explain all the changes given we don't have the information either um I appreciate everything that you guys are doing and I think it's a wonderful thing I know that there's time constraints there's square footage constraints there's space in general um so I appreciate everything that you've done it's just some questions have gone unanswered I know the teachers are doing everything that they can to answer what they can um emails have gone unanswered so I appreciate anything that you guys can do within the next two weeks to answer some questions certainly and I I I I appreciate in those concerns and I I'll definitely grab you uh after the meeting um but just understand that um but the the time we were given when we received the grant we're still figuring some things out a lot closer to real time than we would like to so uh things like transportation and the F and the final schedule uh should be prepared by the end of the week but I'll catch up with you and give you some of those details so thank you thank you any other comments from the public okay we will move to um uh section 18
