##VIDEO ID:EVm6XP-Ntkc## e oh we're talking cran hello everyone hello everyone we're here today um Wednesday September 18 for a meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission uh let's do the Pledge of Allegiance I pledge aliance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all okay do we have our statement of ad qu notice to read somewhere I don't have it you got it all right great pursuant to the open public meetings act notice of this meeting was sent to the Cranbury press to Trend times and home News Tribune on April 9th 2024 posted on the bulletin board posted on the township website and sent to those who requested a copy of this notice so roll call Kelly lavy here Brandon Hansen here um Kelly can you report your hours as well oh sorry I'm gonna say um six deac here um about four hours and that's since June you know what I'm not going to say si that six that's ridiculous um I'm gonna say three way overestimated more is not here yet Katie is absent Excuse excuse yes Adam here uh 4 hours Sally are ready present five hours five hours Christina fatias present five and a half and F is excused isar [Music] uh can you report your hours volunteer hours yes four hours thank you all right let us discuss our minutes from last not last month's meeting two months ago's meeting um there were some amendments that Sally uh requested and that were made Sally do you want to U mention those I actually or I can as well don't I know one was the uh one was a word about something and one was that the life preserver was missing from Heritage Park and it is obviously not Heritage it was Memorial Park yes um and we had because there's no water in Heritage Park and yeah we're still waiting um yes I think that was it um the minutes that we are have to consider are in front of us um if no one has any comments I'll entertain um motion to adopt the minutes motion to adopt the minutes is there a second second roll call Kelly yes yes yes [Music] yes yes Sally yes Christina yes and found is excuse motion pass all right um reports from our Township committee we have our Township committee liaison here yeah um I'll keep it brief the only thing I want to call out unless people have questions is that um we've been tracking the request to sort of connect the walking path in Village Park with the road and that was included in a uh State uh project that was awarded at the last Township committee meeting so that will be in the scope they got approved so I don't know the exact where it's going to connect but somewhere in the way that they deem the most appropriate that mccadam walking path will connect to the Madam road so there already it already was ADA Compliant there was a parking spot but the parking spot was on a gravel road so it's kind of a missing link there so I believe that there's a small connector so it wasn't included as an option and it was awarded in the bid that was just accepted so any other questions for me do you if their part of that plan is to include a uh is to stripe a crosswalk across the uh Madam Road or just to um lead the path up to the road I think whatever whatever the engineer will say it needs based on how they design whatever standard practices yeah I don't know what they um I don't know where they decided to do the design it could be as close as eight feet at one point but I think they'll do it in the most safety pedestrian what sorry what could be as close as 8et what does that the the the place where the Madam path and The Madam Road come together the closest path they touch is 8 ft I'm not sure that's exactly where they want to put it so wherever the township gave them direction to connect those will have the right screening and right pedestrian markings if appropriate to well I walked with um Iman and we found a spot and we put it on the map and we told them oh okay good then that's it hopefully they have that yeah they worked with the town and that would include a crosswalk across the um the uh the road to the park so so hopefully they follow that yeah whatever the township whatever the engineer uh sort of supported but I just want to let you know that we just awarded that and it did I confirmed that it did include that agenda okay that sounds great my only concern would be if yeah no my only concern would be just to make sure that path besides connecting to the road which would be good enough which would be good enough for um accessibility also connects to the road Where the Sidewalk still is leading in from from town um because I can imagine the possibility of like if it connects further away from the uh the end of the driveway onto the road um at the intersection by the cemetery that it would the concrete sidewalk that's already there on the other side um by the entrance to the park oh I'm sorry that's not where yet by the entrance to the park yeah there's only like a 75 foot stretch where the two run together so wherever along there the engineer figured out who's the right place all right Westminster Cemetery I think yeah um all right anything else from anybody all right sounds sounds good um I don't have a report from the environmental commission I don't have a report from the shade tree commission and I don't see representatives from either of those bodies here does anyone have anything on that all right Parks preserve updates who has a park preserve update I do Sally um I sent an email to um our Township administrator and the head and Brendan and the head of the um environmental department and DPW and shortly thereafter they did cut the trees in yunami woods that had been blocking the paths for over a month um so yunami Woods is in good shape their Trail um I walked the cranberry Brook Preserve Trails today and the eagle scout Trail is actually in in relatively good shape they must have done something there there's still things coming over it but the the ground is good trees have been cut out of it and the parallel trails and perpendicular trails that are in the middle of that area at sometime this summer the township widened those they're wonderful they're like you could get a semi-truck down there now um so if you haven't had a chance to walk the the cranberry Brook preserve uh the DPW did a good job on those this summer um and then I want to see one more thing in um Millstone Park I don't even see it on the agenda there's still no word on the Lion Circle we need to put that on our agenda or if we're dropping it then tell me and we'll drop it but this was something that DPW told us in parks that they were going to plant around that Circle where the where the memorial is so I you know we were told that was going to happen I'd like to either see some followup or or drop it as I said um yeah I I agree Sally I I you're right um should we I I mean should we I think we need to put it on our agenda and I think we need to check with shade tree because they are in um they are a really good source of information as far as what planting should go there yeah and then if we need to put it in next year's budget or if it goes in Jade tre's budget I just either that or we just forget it and just leave the plaque the plaque looks so weird like if you're walking that sidewalk it's just like this like protrusion it's not huge but it's seems isolated and odd and it's not very memorializing um okay so I'd like to possibly see that in next month's agenda or yeah I'll add that to the agenda Sally and I and Heritage Park near the fountain all of a sudden appeared overnight a boy a um bicycle rack with a Boy Scout um plaque on it I recall him coming to us and I recall us saying we didn't need one there um we had first put ours there and then we decided no one used it there so we moved it over to the playground area and I just thought Boy Scouts were supposed to get things approved before they put them he did get approved he came to the township committee he proposed four locations the township committee accepted those locations they said to please confirm with Jerry Jerry he confirmed with Jerry a week ago Jerry said those locations are fine if they're not fine Jerry said we'll move them to another location so that's not that's not a correct representation okay so why doesn't Parks get informed about this the the project was approved by the township committee the parks was consulted on that and we were told that we did Jerry was Jerry was confirmed the the confirmation was to confirm with Jerry where they should go the Scout proposed four spots to Jerry Jerry said that looks good when he finished the project he came to Jerry and said where would you like these Jerry said the places you've proposed are fine they're movable as needed so let's start with those at those locations so DPW is taking over as far as where things go in the Parks is that DPW took took Authority for approving the placement of where those go for the where the movable bike racks can go in the parks in the in interest of getting the Scout completed with his project which I'm hearing was delegated to that by the TC is that right yeah okay um and again there and those go those go through TC the Scout yeah he sat right here in presentation and he proposed in his in his presentation where they would go and depending on funding how many he ended up building he ended up building four and and so he confirmed those Jerry where the where those would go and again they're movable right so if we need to move it we can move if there's recommendations that add it to the DPW list and Jerry will take consideration well I'm sure we all applaud the Scout for their work on this um and I I presume I'll ask I will would the GC be open to further feedback from Parks Commission on the placement or replacement not replacement rearrangement of the bike racks based off of our analysis and perception of Need for such items yeah absolutely I think Mr Mr Thorne wanted to give the Scout a clear path to complete his project and to wrap it up so yeah and S you said this appeared by the fountain was this by the fountain I have pictures on my phone if anybody's interested um and then I have one more thing and it's not it's it's it is under Parks preserves not necessarily updates but as we have a stream cleanup every year which is not sponsored by the township it's sponsored by the Stony Brook Millstone Watershed I was wondering if we could um initiate a trail maintenance day um or days as I walked through the eagle scout Trail on the cranberry book preserve I saw that all you need is a pair of Clippers and these these Thorns that are coming over the the path if we could just you know get either have the I don't know whether um Mr fronte whether any Boy Scouts would be interested in a trail maintenance day um unami again the same thing there's just little things coming over the past and I know we can't use any power tools but if we could go with our Clippers one day and just everybody you know say you get four or five people to walk through the park and clip at the trail and clip as you go um I was wondering whether that was something that we could start you're imagine so four or five people that's would be something smaller than the sheds um clean oh well this it wouldn't Watershed we have people come from all over and we also have um several different trails that need it um we have you know the the Reinhardt yeah say nothing of Reinhardt yeah um and so I believe we can use hand tools um so people go through with clippers possibly a Handa anything in the way just get it out of the way just to widen the trails as I said I believe the DPW did a nice job on the ground but the things are growing through the trail and if someone were to ride a bike through there say you might get a pricker in your eye or something so how could we go about instigating that or are we interested initiating Mike how we go about this initiating but to whom to should do we go to um I'm I'm sure the EC would want to weigh in um but do we go to the township administrator to the township committee what uh who do we reach out to who do we write to who do we call there's there's no end to who you can go to to ask for approval we go to everybody um I mean it seems like the EC would be the appropriate they're all on EC property right so I I would suggest yeah I would think that would be like a joint project that you could do with them I don't know if you need to get approval from you know certainly don't need to get approval from town committee and uh I'm sure the administrator would be fine with that kind of event so Sally do you I'm happy to put this on my to-do list to reach out um do you unless you want to take it um are you go are you going to the next DC meeting I will now yeah okay um and I will I'll I'll email them ahead of time because okay yeah we only need one of us there and yeah know a nice a nice fall day sometime just you know for two hours come pick your Trail and and it would be best to have one of us or one of the EC members at each trail head at the at their starting time and then just walk through take an hour in each Trail well a little longer on Reinhardt but yeah I suspect Reinhard will will need will need some TLC I'm also not sure how many um volunteers will'll get for Reinhardt well maybe we can do one day where it's the cranberry preserve unami and then the one on Old Cranberry Road and then one day that's just Reinhardt so have two different days of trail trail maintenance yeah all right that's an idea that I think is worth looking into thank you may ask one question about the Boy Scout B RS we had discussed Jean galiso had reached out about boy scout racks that were in storage that we were going to put into use I don't know if those were known or if those were placed somewhere in the um yeah in one of the parks I don't know they they offered it to the library and the library was not interested so I know I think last we left it they were offering it to other organizations I don't have any update on that though I still I I still don't see the need for us to place it anywhere in our in our Parks right now um anyone disagree please feel free to say so are they still in storage do you know I have no yeah that's where they were last time we discussed it yeah okay anyone else with um Park Reserve updates I think I want to next month put this after our update from our rep director um if just how do we feel about that is that do we feel that flow is better just so we have more information before we bring up new things okay I I might switch that on the agenda next month uh any more Parks preserves updates um as long keep it on yeah okay hearing none um let's move on to our Recreation director okay so summer camp wrapped up and went very well uh couple curve balls that we had as school um you know obviously the parking was was out of place so we adjusted and with the help of the school um to use the black top area um we had one day with no water at the school uh there was a they hit a gas line doing the construction so we had to evacuate one day so other than that it was a typical normal summer very well attended several weeks that were full um we may need to take a look at how we um kind of cut off registration right now we do it like two and a half almost two weeks before the start of the next week and you know we we had some openings that we just couldn't fill because we do have to book our trips ahead of time with numbers that we that we pay for ahead of time but there could be some flexibility in there that we're going to probably take a look at maybe try to be a little more accommodating uh with that that was some of the feedback we got from some of the parents um as you know the inclusive playground was completed we had our ground or Ribbon coving ceremony Mike really likes to cut the ribbon uh with the big gigantic scissors um there were some equipment malfunctions I don't think the scissors are very took more than one or two cuts are very sharp thank goodness because those are huge um but I think it looks great I think it came out really well the contractor um addressed all the concerns that we had after the uh playground was inspected by everybody thank you for doing that um and uh yeah it's it's being used so that's that's great um one of the things we need to consider um is to replace the shed that's over by the baseball field that's the storage area for the rec Camp um we've kind of taken over the shed in um Village Park for right now which is nowhere near the school so it's kind of a pain in the neck to toh access it but um that shed is should be just it's going to fall down if we don't take it down so we should really look to replace that you say by the baseball field which one which which field uh so it's so it's at the end of the part yeah the baseball field The Big Field yeah um The Babe Ruth field so um that was built by a scout years and years ago um and we even had Scouts kind of repair it but it's beyond repair so we're going to probably have to do that um the uh we tried a a fall basketball program with us Sports Institute um didn't get enough registration we will um try to do something in the wintertime the school reached out to me uh we had a meeting yesterday the phone call just a brief phone call that because of most of their special events will have to go into the gym the gym use will will be somewhat limited especially on Fridays because that's when a lot of you know the dances and um that kind of sort of thing happens on the Friday or Saturday so we our best basketball program has been Friday so we're going to probably look to use Wednesdays for our gym use um for the basketball program um you know years ago we we had a adult volleyball program we had aerobic we had a dance aerobics I think it was or no it was Zumba we had Zumba in the gym we're in the actually old Auditorium and there was a men's open basketball that I think still plays on the weekends that that was kind of through us but it no longer is so we do have a Wednesdays W Wednesday nights to try to do something we will'll try to do the youth basketball on that night but throughout the rest of the year there is another There's an opportunity to do some other programs so I'm looking into doing something else on on those Wednesdays that are available to us that we won't be doing basketball um trying to think of anything else that's we had we've had a ton of you know Pavilion Rentals uh there's some use of the softball field at the Village Park too on the weekends there's a softball league that's renting him the softball field um we did provide the inflatable ride for uh cranberry day that was over by the um library that was we pay for that through the uh through our budget um I guess that's about it for that the I'll go through the list here Department of Public Works list you know he's again he's going to work off of what he can he's going to update me as he completes the job the you know I know over it I went over to Heritage Park today before the meeting because I had some time and I sold the lines yellow lines there I didn't notice the the uh bike rack because that not there that often so it was probably there I did walk through the uh the fountain yeah I did I I walked through found a lot of people walking their dogs out there um the playground looked like it was in good shape uh over there still so uh I was happy to see that that's that was that one's not that old but it's getting there and it's still in very good shape so um so with the Heritage Park water bottle I the the water fountains are drinking water bottle filling station I did talk to Jerry about that you know after that last meeting and he said he will get to it when he can get to it is is what the um response was it's a little bit more involved from what he told me than he originally thought and he might have to get a plumber to help with that job job so so am I I I gather that I mean we thought this the items at hand we just wanted it installed I'm thinking that could I mean I don't want to be pessimistic but it sounds like that could be like a year away before that's in the ground yeah I don't know if it's G to happen anytime soon yes I would I would agree with it so the question would be then do we need to hire just hire somebody to to do and install it um and if that's the case then I'll need help with exactly where you guys want where it was supposed to go and all that kind of stuff so so that may be that you know if there's things that are on the list that he just can't get to and we and we feel that you know they need to be done then we may need to you know so go get them done by somebody else I'm wondering if that's going to have to be a budget item um because is it a question of installation of the water fountain or do we also need to install a water line there was some that there is a small he said a small water line it would have to be run okay so but it's not it it's from about halfway up the parking lot from Main Street to the circle so if you could imagine that whole parking lot all the way to where those two benches are on either side the water source is about halfway up the parking lot um is so it's it's I I wouldn't call it small is there any world where DPW can install a water line on their own without Contracting for that or is that this definitely something he said he could just run a Ditch Witch and and do it but he may have run into complications or time I don't know all right I will I will follow up again with him to find out exactly what it is he would need help with and and try to offer you know my help in getting people to help him and if he can't do it then I'll say to him you know what do you think this kind of job will you know would entail and cost and and we could figure it out I mean I I'm like it's not ideal but I'm okay with it not happening when we want it to happen as long as there's a plan for it to happen at some point yeah so he says he knows it he he knows he said he could do he was going to do it he'll get to it when he can get to it I think his plan was did they did you have them last year is that when did you get them this one came in last fall yes she's had it for almost a year so his plan was to try to do it last fall and then he said it just didn't happen but I think his plan is to try to do it this fall so I guess there's a time when the grass like right now about right now when the grass isn't growing as fast and and the leaves have not Fallen yet or haven't started really to fall where there's a a break in the action so to speak so he might be able to get to it so I will check with him and see and try to get some sort of plann timeline on on that project sorry not to be negative but um it's a couple thousand dollars and for it to just sit in um a warehouse or wherever it's being stored for more than a year with no articulated um issue about installation feels like we can do better and I think that we had included a request for some some plumber fees or something when we made the request for the water bot bottle filling stations so I feel like if he can just say what's the issue then we can figure out how to get it done but for 12 months for it to be an issue without knowing what the issue is doesn't doesn't give me like a lot of comfort that this is going to be installed within another year right yeah that's what I'm say I'll get i'll get an update on that um chess tables Heritage Park you w to well the other one is the field and park you signage I just haven't had a chance to go to get that done we did get that one the sign for the I think I said this at our last one uh last meeting for the donation from the um uh mayor's trophy fund that sign is installed on the uh sign at Village Park so that's done that sign's been installed but the the field use signs need to be um or field use by permit only uh signs need to be replaced and I will I will definitely get to that before um before the end of this year for sure I'll get to it next next month all right uh can we open it up for the chest table discussion or report or whatever yes so um everyone should have a file not sure are you going to share up there or not today um I guess not yeah yeah okay don't me me definitely not I had planed to but Donna is not in today so so the um chess table project has been a labor of love for many years started with Kelly and she's done ton of work and then it kind of fell off the agenda for a little bit an hour back so Sally and I and Ken kind of picked it back up and of last year we met with representative from TC at Heritage Park was discussing the TC meeting and the look and feel of the chairs and the chest table were discussed and approved in Q4 of last year by TC so on the images this chair was chosen reason the chair was chosen because it matches the aesthetic of Heritage Park and the other benches Etc the middle picture with the black steel um leg Table leg was chosen just because it goes with the tables everything matches looks nice and pretty I only included the third picture of the concrete leg table because it's slightly cheaper and we'll get to it but as usual we have a little bit of a budgeting issue so we'll talk about that the middle picture just just so everyone is aware three chairs is on purpose and intended so if there's someone in a walker a wheelchair needs to stand Etc they have the ability to play with a partner directly across so that um open spot is intentionally there for a handicap chair or ADA Compliant whatever okay any questions on the images so layout so we met Sally and I met with two contractors and the third one is aware of the space and it and it kind of created the design so the image on the left no one was a great artist but this is what we got so from so the area of where we're looking is from the parking lot maybe you could describe it better Sally on the left is it as you walk into the parking lot past the Todd Beamer Memorial Rock it's just on the left there before you come to the intersection there's the intersection so it's it's just on the left there and I did speak to that homeowner um and she had no problems with it so right off The Walking path will be a a either concrete or P lane or path up to this um little T and then you have a choice to go left or right for the chest tables it was asked by TC and I believe Jerry um and DPW that it that the tables because of their weight it has to be on concrete pads 8 by8 size Etc um so this is where this design came from this is where the dimensions came from this is the recommendation from the um provider manufacturer of the tables and chairs images on the right is just the area that Sally um described it's a very beautiful open space the walking area from the path to these chest tables will be ADA Compliant with pitches and Grading and 2% whatever the gentleman contractor talked about but all of that's included in the quote okay any questions on the layout all right looks great fun part pricing so our budget over two years accumulates up to 15 K the quotes from two contractors um is expensive it's with the tables whether we choose concrete or regular black steel tables it comes over that so option one are two tables concrete leg the cheaper version and four chairs only included that just because again of budget reasons gets us a little closer to our budget the downfall of that is that if there is a handicap TR individual or someone in a walker or disabled of some sort and needs space for their chair or their Walker there's no space for them to play with someone directly across by four chairs she means in total two at each table y um option two is the same thing except with a black steel leg again Aesthetics just the way it looks option three and option four are the recommended so three chairs per table um the concrete um option is the first one option three steel black steel leg is what TC approved last year so that's option four those two options are about 3K over budget so we have to kind of decide what we want to do I could continue to look for contractors are all going to be in the same ballpark and negotiated with the um providers of the chess table and tables they've come down significantly with their pricing you know but they as a company need to make some money the recommendations of the contractors came from a neighboring town and then the other um contractor that I'm just waiting for his quote for was the um company that installed the inclusive playground thank you for your work on this and uh the printouts very instructive um I'm I'm inclined to say we want option four still um um now if we don't have enough money which we don't right now for option four and we can find a cheaper option do is is like proceeding with just one table something we could do or does that not make sense wouldn't make sense it wouldn't look right I think we should decide on what option we want and do it correctly and properly yeah um the ask would be is there any extra funds from any other program within parks and wre that would could utilize for this year from so we have a recreation trust fund that has money in there um it has approximately $100,000 I would I would say at this point it's constantly flowing up and down depending on the season obviously so and you guys are actually in charge of uh you know what do you spend that money on now so if you say we're going to spend whatever is over the the capital allocation for this for this project and that's what we do yeah so option four two tables black steel leg six chairs in total that was agreed and approved and reviewed by TC so that's kind of done and completed pricing for the con construction happened this year and just with cost that that was the lowest that we could get they again seem all consistent with it and I mean Kelly started this like two three years ago and we've been Warriors correct and I'm I'm afraid if we wait the prices are just going to go up I yeah I'm inclined to to uh pull some of that cash it's not a ton of that we're short by so and I also think just not everyone plays chess they could bring Checkers they could bring dominoes they could bring all these other things I know that Katie was starting a mom's group that's another area that moms could you know walk with their their strollers or whatever and have an area to sit and you know kids could play on that little path so I think it it'll be great and for a number of reasons Cena is the is the uh estimate on the following page is that to be considered or is it uh the one here estimate on the the the 9,995 10,300 or is that that's includ that's included in the 16k 17K so yeah that was the table cost but those with the those quotes have the table included in there right okay so it's the pavers the concrete the table everything yeah got I like the idea of the option four as well I think it looks excellent and and if we're going to do it one time and it's going to be be set we should do it something that's long lasting and that has you know a good flavor and and well you know well put together uh another option is if we're just getting to the end end of this year and budget season next year can we uh consider asking the TC with this presentation and say listen you know we got the you know we got the budget for 15 but it's not going to be done for 15 can you support us in the difference well my my problem with that is that prices are going to go up yeah and if we have a 100,000 in our trust fund um 3,000 is not is not I mean it makes a difference but it's not terribly lot I think it's a good way to spend spend it I really do I'd hate to I'd hate to see us wait anymore yeah my concern is that the budget talks will start you know in a few months and conclude in the early midwinter but that money is not going to be available until like the summer so um at the same time that this isn't this is not an urgent project we it's taken a long time but that doesn't necessarily mean it's urgent um so that's something to consider but I personally would feel comfortable um allocating some of of this trust fund money well can I make a motion that we um s before you make a motion because then we have to decide on it I just want to ask um does anyone else want to weigh in on this yeah just just curious um you know in terms of how I see you've looked at Robinsville um as a comparative is there um any precedent in terms of the chairs you know being put up for um you know Memorial plaque or a name and you recover some of the cost especially from the chairs so yes you would you know potentially be able to use some of the uh you know the trust fund but at the same time down the road explore the option of actually recovering some of that just for the chairs um that way you know net neutral it may not be a full 3,000 that hits the trust fund an idea to consider that is an idea I think the only problem we have is that we would have to find somebody to do that or wait for somebody to come to us um and I don't know that that would shorten our timeline much can that be done after the fact yeah that after the fact is what I was thinking because you don't need to make that a a hold up it's it's more from the interest you know the covering some I suppose there's a world where we could say would you like to kick in some the mount we pulled out back into the trust fund and get a plaque on there there's a world that could happen um all right if no one else has Adam do you have yeah I want to comment um we've been down this road previous years about everything in the park now getting a plaque or a stone or whatever I I feel like if we're going to do this project it should be from us from Parks and it should have some Unity so I'd rather we just take the money out of the fund and pay for it ourselves rather than go back and try to NASCAR it up after the fact with sponsorships or whatever so if we can find a way for us to do this as the parks and recom commmission alone that would be my suggestion um are the chairs movable or are they they're installed to the concrete yeah footing for the table and then those are surface bounces all right Sally I think I would like to first of all thank Christine for all her um work on this it's incredible again I went with her I talked to the guy but I I can't do any of this stuff so I really appreciate all that um and then I would like uh to make a motion that we select option four and ask for the difference from the um trust fund um would you like to um so we're still hearing we've got a TBD here that could be lower than um so we'll much so we would just select whichever one's lower go with option four and and pull the difference okay yeah is there a second for that okay um I guess we should take a roll call on that yes this is to um proceed with option four with the lowest bid and to pull the difference over $15,000 from the recreation trust fund okay Kelly yeah Brandon yes deot yes Omar yes Adam yes Sally yes Christina yes okay motion pass terrific um does that wrap our conversation on this or is there uh one or two more items just one comment um Ken I would ask you to look at the quotes speak to the contractor um not an engineer by any stretch so I will I will take it from here yes thank you thank you for one thing to highly consider is the can't be any more than a two % grade yes that area so I'd be happy to meet you at Heritage Park sometime and look where the water bottle Fountain is going and where this is going I'd be happy to show you that if you okay contact me yep oh sorry one more comment one contractor was all concrete and another contract was concrete and pavers so you could see which one you prefer okay or want in that area and the pavers would be on the walkway and then the one cont contractor had said he would put two feet around each the 8 by8 slabs I don't know what that was in the quote of of also so the drawing on this on the third page where it shows the 8 by8 pad it would actually be 12 by 12 because there would be two feet on each side that are pavers which is exactly what the picture looks like on page two in the middle of images there are some papers around it and that is um permeable nicer looking and permeable uh my only question is um what is the long-term um upkeep for pavers we have brick sidewalks and cranberry that are upheaving we have some of the circle that is upheaving on the edges um so I spoke to the contractor about that and he said it's actually much easier than having solid concrete if there is a root that's pulling up a p he said he can just take out that one or two pavers get that root out of there and put the pavers down so that he said it's easier than concrete to deal with okay all righty um moving on to our old business um we have subcommittees are there is there a report on our Circle procurement efforts so the same sorry the same contractors um that are going to complete the chess table area would be interested in the circle procurement once we as a team decide or a committee decide what we want in that Circle last meeting was an open gazebo type Contraption of some sort we have to agree on what what we want there did we we spoke about it um Believe last meeting or the meeting before the other thought was at some in one of the other meetings we talked about the Pavilion potentially getting done at some point point if we want it to make it cohesive we should think of it as one project potentially and then you just mentioned the shed that needs to get done so maybe all those three things could have kind of like the same look and feel potentially and this really isn't going anywhere concrete until budget time comes around we get yeah but we just have to just for the circle specifically we just have to think about what we want and then I'm happy to get quotes I just don't want to you know spin my wheels if we're not all in agreement what should go there do you have pictures of what we talked about the it's a it's basically an open Pavilion that's level with the ground um and rectangular shape we were thinking because of the shape of the it's an oval actually not a circle yeah um with so it would be handicap accessible hopefully from two sides and benches on a couple sides and um have a fence around you know the railing around part of it and then just the the roof one reason it may be great is I see a lot of the middle schoolers and high school kids in the inclusive playground and they just looking for a place to hang out so they're sitting on the suede table Yeah and talking so this might be another option for them which might be may be perfect here's something um to raise this is um our choice here is going to end up being a recommendation to the TC who will have the final say over the the plans and the the allocation of funds um do we want to approach RTC members individually to start the conversation now or do we want to wait until budget time budget budget time is is now yeah um I have to submit it's starting now it's I have to submit our budget by the end of October uh to finance um doesn't mean that whatever I submit is it that but that's when they want it so they can then prioritize things and start discussing um you know projects so we can't take too much time on this is what I'm saying is this going to be a project solely for the circle are we going to include the Pavilion and the shed and try to well the shed the shed's over here it's and it's really just a stor shed so okay so the Pavilion and the C and we we may just take that shed out of the trust fund because it directly supports the wck camp so I mean expensive no that's like a r pre fab thing yeah right right they just have it bring it and drop it kind of thing some of these Pavilions are too kind of prefab if you go down Route 33 just past Twin Rivers there's a place on the left and there's one right out front that looks exactly like what I thought we might want well I'm I'm quite content with the plan that the subcommittee developed um are there any other views out there from our members Adam had that water cooler water tank idea one the water tower feature I tried to research some art my thoughts have always been art over um some sort of building I mean I'm not opposed to putting benches around there but um I just feel like another gazebo Pavilion is not really adding anything new to our parks well there's no shade there for one thing and on either side of it because it is an oval there's still room for art if we wanted something in the future okay it's my opinion that I'd rather have I'm just I'm just saying I understand that but with benches without any shade um I don't think it would be used as much and we are getting any we are getting memorial benches in around that trail we have two so far and whenever anybody comes to the town and request Memorial bench that's that's where we're asking for them to go as around there then we can put some plantings in our budget to develop shade over another structures would be my suggestion what about those we haven't heard from what are your thoughts no no comments nothing of nothing of not I'm kind of blah about it it's not wowing me but um maybe if I could picture it um I could get more excited and I don't know how much it would cost right like I don't is it a huge ask that we're not going to be identifying anything I mean I can easily see the township committee saying we're not ready to do this this year when it comes to it I don't know what they're going to say but that's definitely in the menu of options yeah the the cost itself is not much I don't know how much is it installed but it's roughly like 5 to 7K however if we're not all in agreement and you know we don't think it's going to add anything to the community we should keep on thinking about it there and there's no rush um per se this is um something that it will whatever we decide will be of value to the park um but I mean the incentive here is not to rush and to take it slow because once something's there it's going to be much more of a challenge to uproot it get rid of it and put something else there if we change our minds or not we if we change our minds but if this future committee changes its mind or somebody else feels differently would would it help some people if we came back with pictures of it and um finances for the next meeting would that help some people decide more I think that um I think that would um help us help us ourselves and also help those who were going to have to uh seek their input and approval at some point to have that as um supporting material whether we go with this or whether we go with something else just to say here's what the other options cost um I know that in the past uh the township administrator director Finance um has emailed me also o are submitted not email me but the the commission and asked us to um get our budget ideas together I haven't gotten that message yet um but you know I could get it tomorrow um so it sounds like the sort of softish deadline is October 31st um and then we have to um I mean we have to have a good idea of what we want to do by then are the TC and the town are going to want to put it off and and what else have we asked for talked about that we need money for I I can't recall anything else so I I think it's important that we move on this yeah oval procurement so we at least have one wish for next year yeah I don't think we had another item no and we're not talking that much money I think it would be less than 10,000 for that now um as we as the circle of procurement discussed it the problem with a planting is that it takes a long long time for it to produce shade we could put the the Pavilion in the middle and a planting on either side there's still room for that there's quite a bit of room I don't remember the dimensions but it's quite a bit wider than it is yeah um it's quite a bit longer than it is wide question yeah please what's the what the fixation with the specific area of inside the circle it seems like a focal point that presents an opportunity to Center something um it's and we we wanted to explore if and how we might make use of that focal point to uh improve the look and um function of the park although I mean it's not impossible that we could put art or um a pavilion type thing anywhere else this is what we thought might be a good F might be a good focal point for it yeah so I I think we could move off this topic I'll get some quotes for the Gazebo looking thing I will try to come up with some other ideas I'll ask some other towns what ideas they may have I try to look for art I'm just struggling a little bit with that um but I'll continue and we'll see art art is very expensive yeah very expensive I made a cursory attempt to get a generative AI to draw things based off the words I put in and it it never looked right um so I abandoned that um and I can't draw so that was not an option either in the you know in the uh the point that you made earlier Sally that we aren't really making any significant asks for Capital um you know that could perhaps be considered for Reinhardt you know actually look for some money to repay and and you know re replace yeah replace it to the extent that it's needed that would open up an entirely new facility uh if we had to really look for something that changes you know townships you know sort of experience right like you have you have a different space altogether and prioritize something like that versus as you said you know this is not priority today I mean maybe that's an option to go and that um will come back to that whole differential option stuff uh under our new business item for a review of our mission and goals which we have the accompany packet for um for now can we move on to senior interest are there any updates there I hope there are not because I want to spend some time on some other stuff does anyone have an update so the senior interest updates are part of the new business package it's in there if you want to cover it as part of that we can do it then I think that would be best um the baseball event Adam and I was just gonna give an update on the the events at the senior events are going very well at the library to the point where the they want to keep having them at the library even after they can get back into town all how does the library feel about that the library is very supportive of it and so is the township and we haven't had there haven't been parking issues no parking issues and they love having Dean to ask all their technology questions too well that's fantastic I'm very yeah so and the other part of that is it's actually bigger it's a bigger room bigger space they can fit more people little less gloomy yeah well and the more we can drive them to programming at the library versus facility upgrade for the basement of town hall I think gives them more experiences out of it so yeah no issues with parking and they're very satisfied with the change terrific all right um Adam do you want to speak on the baseball event um the baseball event still going on um the um historic game will be at 10:00 on Saturday the or excuse me will be at um noon on uh October 5th and then following at two o'clock there will be a little league exhibition on the Little League field there so those are the two events that are planned for the night fantastic a lot of great Buzz about it the Little League teams and some of the children I their parents are going to play and they're really getting into it so yes because um you know there was some struggle the the team that I had couldn't find an opponent and they picked to the date and the time and they still couldn't find an opponent so their suggestion was to try to find uh local community members that wanted to play so the team they're going to play is going to consist of I believe like half a dozen of our cranberry police department and the rest of the team will be made up of um some of the leaders or board members of the West Winds or Little League so yeah so they're on the games are on two different fields they're two different times two different fields so the historic game will be played on the softball field uh because they need a 6090 field and um even though that the softball field is not really set up for 6090 it can be manipulated that they can play there and it's got some great Vistas and Views and there's lots of room for them there's no fence Heming them in for adults swinging baseball you know oldfashioned baseball but still you know like there's a lot more room for them to play the game which is why it's there and then the uh Little League field will be on zhai um at two o'clock following the historic game that's one that's the one that's right when you go in the parking lot right in front of you if you go straight yes yes um gra townwide event do we have any thoughts or on we were going to we I got some pricing on movies or the movie that we talked about was U the sand lot um we have to hire a company to come in with one of those inflatable um screens and the projector they bring the sound system and a person to to run that whole thing it's that's about that's about6 or $700 and then the um license for the movie will probably be$ two or $300 so it's about a thousand which we have in our budget for for an outdoor movie um did we say we were going to do it that night or the evening before there was talk of doing it the evening before um and I think I saw in passing that one of the churches is now having a um a blind dancing event okay at the same time so I didn't know if you know Katie's groups if they had pivoted to this line dancing like they had done previously or if this was totally separate coincidence but just coincidence but um yes that I think now that I'd have to go look it back up again because I only so that was the fourth that yes I believe it's the evening of the fourth so I I really I'm you know I don't know how much crossover the families of one event would have with the other but might be something to take into consideration especially if we're going to spend a thousand bucks and we might only get like a couple dozen people to show up right exactly so yeah but that's something we gota to to book these guys we got to do that soon so let's if you can look that up let me know okay and maybe we could just talk about it if somebody knows what I'm talking about that seems a similar thing you have a line on what this line danc Church okay I I'll go back and look I can find it great yeah I mean that's in like three weeks yeah so we can we can get it but we gota we got we need to be we need to have we got publicize it two weeks ago yeah right I I haven't seen a historic baseball game publicized yet I was waiting to make sure we had two teams and that just came together this week with a lot of behind the scenes effort on my part so yes we'll have a flyer up and ready to go within the next couple days so as far as townwide event I know our our movie was one thing but um the centy boy came and asked us whether we were going to do the bicycle um the bicycle tour to tour to Cranberry again did did we ever make any decision on that made last month was the this movie was going to be the 2024 EV instead of we're not I think we my recollection is that we thought we would need a little bit more lead time and if we had met in August we might have come to a different conclusion on the the bike thing for this year um but I think that's something to fold into our discussion of our mission and goals on our packet um what do we think group I think it's a townwide event for 2025 we should discuss it probably need funding okay how all right yeah let's that's a line item budget that yeah I don't think you need to get approval that's just is in the rec budget the townwide event the plug for $1,000 yeah right now it's under like movies or some or concerts or M movies or something like that but we can community recreation yeah we can change that okay I did I did find it it it's a little confusing it first Presbytarian Church says Friday October 7th which is not a is a Monday so I'm not I'd have to reach out to the church to see what which is correct whether it's Friday or Monday so but that's the flyer that I'm seeing right now Methodist Church usually has an activity the first Friday of the month called First Fridays and that would be the first Friday of the month so that could be another conflict all right so all right so um we need to sort that out and can you can we don't need to vote on that that's something you can arrange independently of our our voting on it okay but we know what we need to do there is that right yes all right um I did get a um moving on to new business I did get an email notification that somebody is Seeking a memorial bench um is that something we I this is what do we just approve it or I mean um we usually we look at the application we uh contact the applicant to find out their location I'd be happy to follow up on that if I had the application and talk to the person um I have the map with all the red X's where we wanted a memorial bench in Village Park around the new Walking path which is our preference right now as far as or it was I'm I'm saying it is it as last I knew that was our preference for benches anywhere in town was around the new walking trail and Village Park yeah we have a process now don't we yeah yes so the only complication is that the person in question while a previous resident of cranberry was not a resident at the time of their passing is I don't see that as a categorical problem um but I I would like to hear everyone's view on that we have a process if they pay the money for Memorial bench like cranberry we can be fine with it I would think like yeah I mean there's no stipulation on you have to be a res to have the bench so I would move forward with it if they go through the process all right sounds good um did you want to give the application to me or do you want to handle that or yeah um if you do you want to do that Sally I don't mind I would like that if you did it and I didn't have to um I'm gonna put that down here and I will forward you the email that I got yeah because I'm around I can meet with the person and find location and then just have them then the next step is um does the application have what they want to say on the bench no okay so that's the next step is they give that to us and we approve the wording and then the location and then they go through and order it all right um now we have before us you all have before you a packet uh the Cranberry Township Parks and Recreation Commission snap pack 2024 this is fundamentally part of reviewing the commission's mission and goals and uh the areas where we're delivering Services the areas where we could um we where we could handle um improvement in our services so I it's already 808 I don't think we have time to go through it Page by page and I don't think that's a good use of our time anyway um but let us move over to um sort of uh the page after new opportunities to address needs and that's what I want to focus on for tonight um because I think it may behoove us to break this down as it it is is in the packet and I want to thank deepo for his great work putting this together absolutely fantastic um do you have Mike do you have one you want to take a okay do you want to look at it on paper and larger than your phone size okay um um I think it would be who to potentially look at this as several different subcommittees based off of the population that's being served and we have here um our children are our sort of like adolescent youth adults our seniors and our pets and this is going to be a case that some of these uh Service Groups are going to require more attention and some are going to require less attention and some are going to yield a answer some could potentially yield the answer that we're not changing what we're doing what we're doing Works some might even the answer might even be we're going to do less because some of the stuff we're doing isn't working or isn't being utilized enough that's all hypothetical but it I'm just saying this to illustrate that the answer isn't come back with as many ideas as you possibly can we want to be deliberate about this um so um debach do you want to say anything about this um no I think you covered it nicely right like I think the the point of this is to have you know a fact pack um that like we said you know we'll take a step back we have a few inputs what do we do today that's in the pages um what is our mandate that's also in the pages in the front and as a coroller what are we not doing today right like so that's that's these Pages um that you called out starting page six and ideally what we want to do is um you know have a subcommittee that focuses on each and really does um agree on each of those stakeholder groups what if any of these makes sense to have active plans going into this year's budget asks if need be or you know are they easy enough for us to get it going without necessarily having to invest anything and it's really easy enough for us to kind of consider it as programming um or in other cases where there's something that's inlight and is not necessarily getting the participation that you know we'd anticipate can be removed from the current programming so it's all of those yeah I just I think this is a fantastic approach to take and I I want to credit you again um for this snap pack it's it's as you said far from complete but that's what we're here for to to carry it the rest of the way and it is I would say a almost comprehensive resource of what we're doing right now um so I I really want to give you accolades there um so are there any First Impressions here before we sort of um talk about breaking into ourselves into some subcommittees to take a look at at these different areas I'm not hearing any so um do we want to just jump straight into sort of dividing ourselves up into subcommittees to look at these different things and again I I do want to emphasize that just because your subcommittee is tasked with looking at how we're serving a group doesn't mean that the answer is let's do as much as we possibly can we want to you know we're a small town with small resources so we want to be deliberate in our approach and also don't feel bad if the answer is there's nothing we can do here our subcommittee is concluded that's it that's all I got um because that might that might be what we come what it comes to for some of these I know that pets has been historically a a area where we hear a lot from the public on wanting dog parks or other such things and that the township um authorities are reluctant to um invest in that so you know that's not something that might fall apart quickly but it's definitely worth our time to look into it and see what's possible and what's possible theoretically and what's possible practically and where we can go with it there's there's also on each of these um there's some proposed dates for the subcommittee to you know be active and conclude on um you know their sort of preliminary work intentionally it's highlighted I know in the black and white print it doesn't show off but it's int kind of highlighted in red in the actual document so subject to change as needed obviously you know the more that we can get done through December uh in the next three months uh and conclude on which of these we want to really you know put on our roster for 2025 2026 perhaps uh the better right like then we have an agenda for come January where we know what are the things that in the first quarter the second quarter like we can really you know think about next year in quarters and have some goals for ourselves like for the year um this is a good time for me to mention that I'm actually unable to make our next meeting I will be um probably on a plane back from Italy for my sister's wedding um I had somehow gotten in my head that I would be back in time for the meeting unless my flight was delayed but that's just I was completely wrong about that I don't know how I got that my head um the flight is later in the day um so I would I had reached out to Katie today to ask if she would be willing in her capacity as Vice chair to preside at next month's meeting I didn't hear I didn't connect with her um so I don't have the answer to that but um so the options are if she's available to have her uh preside at the meeting or if neither of us are available I I think we would need to cancel or resched I I'm not aware of a mechanism by which we can designate somebody else to run the meeting is that is that I mean I my ideal is that that Katie is available and and can can preside at the meeting um there's no option of changing the date I think changing the date would be an option um and I I if I mean if people want me to be here and and contribute I I'd be happy to change the date for that but i' certainly I don't consider my participation so valuable we need to change the date just for me um what what are our thoughts on that are we are we good to go with if if kati's available all right that sounds we can't appoint like a deputy I I mean I don't know that we can I don't know that we can't either so I just just don't know I think if you have a quum um you could you can like secretary I would run it okay so then there's no problem at all we don't yeah yeah all right I mean um I would say I'd watch it online but I'll be on a plane and I don't know that I don't know that my particular um travel class will allow me to stream video over the Atlantic so um all right so do we want to break out right now not break out do we want to right now uh negotiate amongst ourselves who it wants to jump on to which subcommittee are we ready for that or is there more discussion we should have first um I'm I'm confused as to what are the subcommittees are they by ages or by activities or they're by ages um so if you go uh two pages past the yeah on the bottom we've got I would say we do subties for uh children youth which is like our adolescent youth adults senior citizens and pets so we'd have those five areas and people would be on one or two or if they wanted even three but um I'm I wouldn't insist on anybody doing that and then there's there's one in the back which is for the full list of everything on the parks as well um now that may will be sort of input into the the list for Jerry and team so you could consider that as not needing it but if we want to we can consider having one for just that list making sure that that is actually you know fac there yes just facilities yeah tell you already have uh subcommittees for each Park and preserve already we do yeah um but they don't have like standing instructions to um to meet up I would say for now let's not let's not be too ambitious too quickly if there's unless there's disagreement I would say we stick with the age groups and maybe take a look at facilities another time or um as part of looking at the service of the age groups unless there's disagreement I'm happy to go with what the group wants I was just say it strikes me as an interesting way to Ross like you're already thinking about each Park but this sort of then cuts across by sort of user segment you'd almost think about all the spaces for that that's right I think I think the the one thing though Mike is uh there are some things in the Parks so for instance you know Reviving or regrading a trail um you may not necessarily kind of consider that as an active part of wreck consideration so I think I think you're right we could and maybe that a takeaway for everybody that as you're thinking about what your recck and programming considerations are also look at you know what if anything can be a facility consideration for those pars we could do that all right um I am very happy to I feel suited to sit on Children and Youth as someone who was a child and an older youth in this town um if there are objections please let me know if I'm too close to it and you don't want me involved can I make a suggestion I help speed this up yeah if you have an age group that you're want to focus on why don't we tell Brandon that and then any anybody else that wants doesn't can be randomly assigned or feels like I mean I don't care what group I get assigned to I can put my efforts best wherever you want me but like there might be somebody like you said that wants to pick the group that they want so if anybody wants to make the requests and then we can go from there where we need the rest of the help to be divided I love what you're thinking Adam let's go around and um uh let's each say if there's a particular group that we want to or think we would they would be strong on yeah please what's the subcommittee doing so like if I if I'm on 13 to 21 put your mic on sure if I'm on 13 to 21 is the small subcommittee looking at action item number one and deciding amongst ourselves if we would suggest that we have the town reinvigorate or start a tennis camp and then figuring out what's needed to do that um that is yeah you could um or you could say this is not worth our time we don't want to do that um you can I mean you w to take a look at my impression was that you'd want to take a look at how the town is serving the that group right now where the gaps are um and what capacity the town has to fill in those gaps um and the the action one two 3 four five are certainly things to look into but I mean there's no requirement that you stick to that or or do any of them or all of them or not go beyond it can things be added too I would say you can add whatever you want or take away whatever you want um and yeah I mean I would say to help you out these are like in suggestions to start out with and what you were saying about forming the subcommittees is the subcommittees are getting together and filtering out a lot of stuff that we're not going to be bogged down with suggestions at the meetings here itself so like if the sub committee gets together and decides you know what I don't know if we have a lot of interest in tennis camp because there's Monroe there's Princeton or whatever you guys have whittel it down and brought it back to the committee with here are the ideas that we felt would best suit this age group that we're working on and I I try to um to I I get into this when I opened up this conversation but it is a bad idea for for any subcommittee to come back and say we want to do all five of these things and we want to do them all this year it what we're doing is prioritizing and so some of that's going to be this is a great idea but we're not going to do it we just can't swing it um we're going to you know take a look at at what it entails if it's feasible if there's whether it's feasible or not if it's something that would be useful if people would like it um you know that kind of thing does that answer your question yeah I just want to know like what we're doing and how we're going to report yeah um good yeah I I would say um investigate or not if you don't think it's worth the time um but take a look at uh the things on use this as a guide or a template but feel free to add or subtract to it um and be aware that when you come back to us with your recommendations we might not like them and we might add or subtract ourselves so my recommendation would be if everybody's like on the what whatever page on the bottom you see the five different categories under Children and Youth I think we should put Brendan's name and I've got that down and when I I'll I'll when we have this all sorted out I'll go home tonight and and email it all to everybody so we all have see where there are needs so let's are we ready to go around and say uh if anyone has particular preferences and then we'll we'll uh fill out the rest um by drawing Lots or whatever Kelly do you want to start or deac do you want to start since you I'm I'm I'm happy to I'll do children and youth as a preference my my kids very very much in the freight so all righty sorry Kelly great no I'm only kidding it's your turn now children seniors feel like I'm already on that one pets that feels like an easy lift is that a separate group yeah you want in that that's the group that I most feel like is going to say we looked at this and we can't do anything with it you never know you never know no keep in mind too you can only have three of you guys on any of these subcommittees yeah so so children but but if someone else wants to do children please say so and we'll decide who who we'd have to kick off my gosh so far we have three for children two for youth none for adults one each for senior citizen fets uh Adam did you have any preferences I do not you can put me wherever Omar I can help this I would be happy to adults Sally I'd be happy to work on uh seniors and pets they seem to go together Christina um I'll go wherever BR seniors I mean we do have you know the subcommittee uh in our sort of like you know continuing business and so just just calling that out thank you that is something I had not considered which is foolish of me I did I hear I'm sorry I didn't understand we had like this the senior subcommittee that we put together a few months ago and who's on that I don't remember but it's not me me no it is is it me no no it's not me well you've missed a lot of meetings if you are you missed every meeting who is it do you recall it's um deac myself and Fallon should keep that yeah for senior done okay so you're our presentation in the back so unless deac would you prefer to do children and youth and let Sally do seniors that sounds like a all right look at that Mak people happy and putting Sally back again we have uh we have some homework for you done already so so you can benefit from that's that's the way I picked it um and Christine did I hear you say that you're good wherever and keeping in mind we also have two people we have Katie and Fallon um who are not here but so we can tell them do whatever we want so we only have one for adults so far so we still need um Adam I put Adam on there sure I like pickle ball so at this point we have two for each and we have two people missing I I think they're covered um so I want well you haven't put Christina anywhere yeah I want Christina Katie and Christina P she's on pet chrisa Christina is um do we think does anyone have an idea of what we think Katie might want to do gaps are gaps are youth and adults there's only two for each of those I feel like she would be interested in adults given her interest in in the mom's group Katie yeah I'm only on one correct they can put me on YouTu you might also be in pets all no we we're we're at to pass you there you're only on one all right put me on you well then Fallon won't have any no she's on seniors okay correct I'm sorry so uh just to I'll I'll em know this out so we all have the same list and we're all working out the same thing but for our purposes now and for the listening public we have uh children Brendan deepo Kelly youth Brendan deep Adam adults Omar Adam Katie seniors Kelly Sally Fallon and pets Kelly Sally Christina is uh that work for everyone does anyone have any they want to switch about themselves or something they're worried about with anybody else I won't get offended if you think no but when do you want us to meet so you want us to meet and talk about this before the next meeting with I think that would be ideal um this is a deliberate process so you don't have to come back with all the answers all at once um but I think yeah if we're all up up for it I think if we could try to meet once or twice with our groups where in Italy are we gonna have this new I'm I'm leaving I'm actually leaving um three weeks from today at 12:30 in the morning um you just need to B the same but it will be in Tuscany yeah my sister's getting married in tuskany she'll be so happy I'm talking about it at this public meeting on the internet one thing I forgot to mention was we were just notified that we received the $275,000 Grant from State Legislature for the courts so aw um I gotta it's received you mean we're awarded or have the money in pocket we were awarded but now I have to fill out the application okay important distinction and the 275 is just going to be to pull up and Report like we did with is that correct right the line item in the state budget is revitalization of Village Park so there may be some wiggle room if Calamity ensues but that is the plan right does that does that cover the the full cost that's needed I believe it does I can't I don't know I can't remember did we make any decisions on the Pavilion roof in Village Park I don't see that on the agenda The Pavilion roof we that is actually s you asked earlier what our budget asked for for this year that's when we want to go to the TC we still we have budget monies approved but where I left it last meeting that we had was that um I'm getting various opinions on the people that are looking at this roof and um it might be best to replace it outright and then the decision was well do you want to go with the cheapest which would be ashalt single or do we want to replace it as it looks now with the cedar shape so that's the decision we would have to make on the replacement of what we want to do but there was already some money in the budget this year for a minor repair or or a chemical treatment and I got the quotes but then I was told I had to go back and get more and in the process of getting more the new people that looked at the roof suggested that we can do this for you but I don't know if it's going to solve your um aesthetic problems that you're going to have you know like maybe next next year right so like it might be best for us to use that money more wisely to just repair it completely from the get-go rather than to try to clean it up and make it another year because if we replace it completely you're going to get 10 25 year roof out of it right so so I think we should put it on next month's agenda and um and possibly add it to next year's what's the discussion for next month that that we want to what we want unless we can decide now I'm inclined to do a replacement of the roof okay that's what we want to do great I will stop I will let it all the people with but no that's just what I want I understand we we we can take a vote on it right because but there's two ways to replace it the cheaper way which is asphalt or the aesthetic way which is Cedar I like the aesthetic way and will the TC approve that I I think it would be I guess it would behoove us to get estimates on both of those I have the estimates and they still they're probably changed in the two years that I've been working on this project so I will be happy to reach out I know that one of them has a relationship with some work that they've done in cranberry and have reached out to den that they are interested in still moving forward so I know we have that but um if you know if we want to replace this roof that's great um but it was our we need to make a recommendation to TC and then TC needs to finalize how they want how they want us to go ahead with the renovation all right do we let's I'm gonna do a quick STW poll um do we want to make that recommendation to DC I say yes yes sure yes I say we we have to give them two though yeah the Cedar and the asphalt all right yes yes for replacement for total replacement do all right um that's Brandon what is there any other need for repair or upgrade to the structure other than the roof I don't think so it I mean even as it is now it's just covered in Moss and old looking and like there it's not not like people are still renting it and enjoying it in all weather so it's not like it's not a usable structure right there are probably some compromised areas in the the corners that we were um looking at getting repaired when we were taking the Moss off but like I said like this repair they do it they next year or the year after they could be hey now we got to go back and do this other part so like if we're going to do it we might as well just do it once and it'll be good for 20 years or whatever the warranty is on whatever the the the medium that we use to replace it with right yeah meaning do the roof and then address any other concerns we have a nice New play playground and we look over and see that you know the structure and it they don't match yeah so what can we do to uh have them match and maybe do it all at once all right so should we do another quick straw pull on cedar or asphalt well is that the question or is that the question that we do something with the entire structure or just the I mean like we can make the recommendation and ultimately TC is going to decide financially what's best for them right so like yes we would like Cedar but there is another opt option for asphalt and shingle and I would approach the TC and let them know and I can re uh confirm with the uh contractors that I have if their quotes are still good and submitted all the TC and let TC vote on it and decide which way they want to go I agree with that Mike can you report this to TC that that this is something that we are um deliberating on and that they should be advised that they will have to weigh in I forget how much we already have approved we got we got a certain amount approved for the um clean and fixing from in this year's budget so it's already in the budget we would just have to roll it over and add additional funds to do the replacement if that's what we're going to do uh it was in our Parks budget I believe it was a capital item in the Parks budget um that so cleaning of a facility is not that's operational that is not a replacing I was not any I was not at any of the budget meetings I just know that we made a request and it was approved so I don't know where it came out of but but there was money's approved for this year yeah I think though if it's operating it it won't carry over to next year especially if the new request is capital it would be a capital request so okay but either way it doesn't change that the plan should be to come with two options in January and whatever budget needs to go in at that point it goes in right right and it it can carry over if the TC Capital carries over operating does not right but the TC can if you don't want to call it carrying over can make the same appropriation again absolutely yeah okay yeah they would it just goes in it has to be renewed in the budget but once something's in the capital plan it just it just you don't have to budget it for it again pot of money Remains the pot of money okay I I got that now um so are do we want to take an action on this tonight please let me know what you think head nods I think we already did I I would we're get quotes on both we vote we vote on what what way we move what is our number one choice moving forward whether it's the the uh um cedar or the asphalt and then go from there like I mean like which is the number one thing that we want to tell C TC this is what we our our desire of what we would think work best in the park and then they can decide whether that is fiscally going to fit so I would say say yes let's let's ask for the cedar to replace it as is because I mean a lot of people like the look of it as is but I do not know the cost of Cedar based on what the new quotes will be I only have the old ones that I had from two years ago yeah I don't I don't know either but I know that if it's not you know an extra arm and a leg for Cedar I prefer Cedar um let's do a quick straw pole cedar or asphalt Jingles um I say Cedar Omar I agree with you Cedar is fine if it's not a terrible difference yeah yeah I'm fine with either same either Cedar if it's not an incremental you know significant cost Cedar is my first choice but having the roof replaced a new is important yeah Ceder would be great but I think it's sub pers so okay um we had one more for Cedar so that's not and we have two members missing so that doesn't give us a lot to work on um sounds like sounds like the plan is to put together two cost yeah and then we can we're making the decision anyway all right so are we ready to close the book on this for tonight or is there more we want to say we're done thank you very affirmative we say replace the RO where are the prices in the TC Dees okay um I want to be cognizant of the time it's after 8:30 um I don't think we need to continue our discussion of the review of The Snap pack right now um I think that we could all uh use with some digesting of it on our own as well as uh digesting it together with our subcommittees um please make sure before you leave the building that you have the contact information like the cell phone contact information of the other people on your subcommittee because I know we all check our cell phones a lot more than we check our Municipal email um but if there's something else I'd like to move on to compiling our action items for our next meeting all right Bron do you want to go back to senior interest the update there that was part of this um back and there's a couple pages in here that you want uh which Pages sorry what is the page number there there is senior interest uh one of three y oh yeah okay let's um let's go over that but be mindful of our time um do you want to who wants to lead on that anybody I'm not on the group sure I mean it's easy to follow along we oh we looked at all the issues that affect seniors in town and found that communication and access to information it really needs to be improved information on the town website is super outdated like it'll bring you to a PDF from 2021 um it provides phone numbers that don't work anymore and are disconnected and you just can't um get to the people that you would need to get to to actually attend any of the programming that we're advertising so that would be a really easy fix um and pretty cheap same thing with um flyers and mailers being sent um which are being sent too late for seniors to register for the event which causes frustration um and I think are being sent twice a month register for the lunch it might be easier just to create a calendar that's sent out monthly where everything that's being offered here and at the library um because they have a they have senior programming as well um could be included on one piece of paper and seniors could see right in front of them what what we're offering um next the programming can and should be refreshed I think that we can report back on that after our small group meetings next month um and we think that addition Personnel within Town Hall might be necessary to handle Communications about programming and events um and be a resource for the seniors because it feels like that might be um where there's some failings where people are reaching out and um not being able to get in contact with who they need to get in contact with so you said additional Personnel but if am I correct in in um understanding that what you really me is additional additional Personnel hours and not necessarily additional staff but just more staff time or someone who who is the point person um for it yes I feel that these actions and opportunities are probably more what you wanted to discuss at the next meeting yeah I um ie I think that those sort of findings on our our service for our seniors are um are are very useful and sightful and I think that we can we can build on that thank you for the work so if there's one thing in common with this group is that nobody wants to take credit for any of the work that they do and we need to we need to fix that folks we need to promote ourselves and our work and our part in our Recreation or we're never going to get any money um okay I'm going to I'm ready to move on to action items and then public comment um please shout if if you are not okay so I have action items I'm going to make some amendments to the agenda I'm going to switch the placement of parks and rec preserve update and the rec director report um I'm going to check with somebody at the township about the plans for the Village Park walking trail connection and report back to the group on sort of what exactly they're planning for the sidewalk and the connection and everything and the possible crosswalk I have for myself I am going to talk to the EC about a trail maintenance Day idea um which will include me going to the EC meeting as well as emailing the EC chair ahead of time can I have you're GNA take the lowest bid and run for run with it for the uh contractor of of the chess tables and we're going to pull some money out of the truck TR fund for it as well Sally I have you're going to look into the bench application and um and consult with our applicant and I will actually should put that as an item for me I'm going to email you the application so that you have that information I'm also going to meet with my subcommittees the senior citizens and pets and I'm going to meet with Ken at Heritage Park um to show him the water bottle filling station and the chest table request and um don't forget to put um Line Circle on the agenda too yes thank you Sally I did not have that one down Stone Park what is that line so it's not a circle anymore but that's a like the LI the Lions Club the Lions for for anyone who doesn't know or any public listening in the Lions Club Circle is what we've been calling it but at this stage it is just a sort of plaque in the ground on a Stone and it used to have a semicircle of Shrubbery around it it was you had your sidewalk and then a semicircle of Shrubbery and the FL in the center um it all died and we we flagged that to DPW they removed all of the Dead Shrubbery um or what have you and it was um and nothing else followed so there's this like well they said they would replant it they did and it didn't happen so um so there's like it's like shaped like this if you're looking at it sideways just jutting out of the ground it's probably about this size too of my arms above my elbows um and it just like looks out of place and odd and it's not very much in the spirit of the memorial it was a um installed on I know this because it's very near my birthday and I thought that was very interesting when I was a child walking past it but it was installed on Memorial Day in 1992 um just a few days off for my birthday um and uh it was uh donated by the Lions Club of cranberry so I will add that to the agenda um Sally I was I'm putting this on my list you're going to meet with Ken to give the details on the uh chess table and something else and the water phone and we are all going to meet with our sub committees hopefully um I am going to reach out to Katie and ask if she can and is willing to um act as chair at the next meeting that I can't make in her capacity as Vice chair um I hope she says yes um and all of us besides meeting with our subcommittees are going to review on our own the snap pack um and familiarize ourselves with it um that I I mean if if you don't feel like you have comprehensive knowledge of the parks which I don't think we do any of us do um up so um anyone else have an action item I um was I going to reach out to I was oh yeah Sally you wanted us to reach out to shade tree about shrubbery for the Lion's Circle let's call it the Lions black cu the circle thing is doesn't exist anymore can I can I make a suggestion to add one uh If October is when we're you know looking at putting our budget requests in I don't know if we've looked at our status of the trust fund for the last couple meetings I don't know if it happened in August I wasn't sorry no well August we didn't have we didn't have a meeting in August but uh now that the summer camp is wrapped up and we still have believe it or not one purchase order that's floating out there but I can give like a overview to of the summer camp financials too so yeah we could do that in October that'd be great um also one of the things in our responsibility statement is providing a periodic update to the CFO for the town can I'm just curious does does that happen periodically how do we do that what is our process for doing it period a periodic we I've never done anything yeah so I mean so she she has access to all the financials uh that we have so I don't she does she looks at everything on a monthly basis um and there's monthly reports I get from from them so I don't I don't know if that's really a uh something that needs to be done it's already being done so we we fulfill that by virtue of her having access to it yeah yeah okay absolutely and and Consulting when we have you know budgetary ask questions and um I just have a a question um and that is there are five of the subc committies for this and I'm wondering whether um we want to just say that we'll only have two or three at the next meeting I just think all five at one meeting might be a lot uh unless we only have a little bit to say about each one I think some of them are going to have more to say and some of them we're gonna have less to say so I think it's I think we can manage all five and if not then Katie can use her gabble to to shorten things okay um all right I that's all I have for Action items I'm going to move on to public comment are there any public comments from the public there is no public here okay um so I'm going to close public comment now I will be happy to entertain a motion to adjourn our meeting motion to adjourn okay okay second and we have a second we do not need to vote on that we are adjourned uh Ken if you could please uh shut down the stream and the recording and uh we'll see everyone uh next month no not not me I'll be gone [Music]
