##VIDEO ID:abDlaHiDe1M## w Wait minut I got the wrong thing here not good town of Dion Board of Health regular meeting November 19th 4:31 it looks like this is also a remote participation Zoom meeting it is a public meeting being recorded for cable broadcast and Internet Posting on youtube.com toown of dayon I'd like to call to order um board member introductions you want to start T your name oh sure Tammy mow Barbara kabia chair Vincent Hebert member and next we should do the Pledge of [Music] Allegiance I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all old Business Review discuss Grant document share Drive capability and startup vny would you like to take this sure I certainly would I uh I did have a conversation with um with our TA and um he had said there was nothing like that in any town that he knew of but I said well let's do it for this town yeah um and he understands what what what we're looking for um how to lay it out very straightforward business you know um server type of folders and then with access for other people so he's got a lot on his plate like right now he's said couldn't promise you know like tomorrow but he would look into it and he would do it um one of the things that that I mentioned to him which I I I was speaking to um uh Liz and with Barbara about today I came down a little bit earlier is that so I've looked at all the grants that are that are up pretty much all the grants that are up there I didn't find a lot I didn't find a lot for the state as far as like Board of Health would go except for the one that I disseminated to everyone here which I can go forward with but I have to check with the TA because of that 25% they want a 25% um reimbursement if you will so I don't know if it if it's something like if it's $1,000 you know they'll keep 250 or if we have to kick it back in after the fact I think it's after the fact okay um so but I could go forward go forward with that one but I'll I'll talk to the tea I mean obviously I don't want the town to have to pay anything but if we're getting the money up front you know then that that should be sufficient what I did find is that on the state on a state level is there are a lot of grants for like Police Department for school systems for fire department for things like equipment for things like training for things like awareness programs and things like that that's where I was going was I could take take those and take those links and Tuck those into that a folder that says police fire you know uh sewage uh Solid Waste whatever it happens to be building anything like that and then shoot them an email and say hey take a look at these grants here's some money again we're you know this all goes you know now we're not taking any money out of the general fund right we're just keeping keep that general fund mone's there and let them get these grants so that they can do whatever they need to do right so once he gets that he gets that straightened out I'm just going to keep doing that and I'm on a I'm on like a notification so if something new comes up you're notified you know we got to that that they'll ping me and they'll say hey there's a new Grant that's available hey there's a new Grant that's available but honestly it's like except for like the one that that I sent and a couple of others that are related to there there really isn't anything now available for some of the things that we talked about CPR programs right and stuff like that but as they come up I mean um you know I'll uh I'll run them by the board and then we can say hey we want to go forward with it or hey we don't and um but in the meantime like I said I can just keep keep stuffing them into the folders and let the appropriate uh departments and committees know and they can have at it that'd be great awesome that'd be great thank you so much thank you for doing all that hard work yeah know I you know I hate you know like I said you know I know you want me to you know they all want me to write grants but I don't have any to write you know except that not right now not right now so it's unfortunate but um but you know it's always good just to keep your eye open yeah because as you know is if you've done this like I did this in like in my previous job with universities we' work with them on getting grants so that they could get funded so that they could buy our equipment and the money's there and then the money's gone right so you gotta and then sometimes they take back half of it you know so it's it it's one of those games that that they play and then usually there's a time frame like it's only available until a certain amount of a certain amount of time but um you know at least we're we're starting the process so that we can you know you know this is baby steps right now and then once it all gets rolled and and going you know like I said I think it just benefit the town as a whole they need it we don't really have a grant rer the TA I believe might be responsible like you said right now he's got a lot on his PL yeah he does um so anything that can help the town where it yeah we've got to you know um yeah so that's what that's where that's at and then I'm not going to you know um bother him or um you know keep pinging him but you know I'll let it set for a couple of weeks and then just say hey any progress going on with this and um see what he has to say I got a little excited uh today on a zoom meeting because I heard the um nurse from Taunton said that they had a part-time nurse being paid by a grant so I called her up right after the meeting I'm like what Grant is it she said it's the remain of a covid grant and it's what's left and that's why we're paying it and it was one of the grants that Dayton did not use oh oh no because they weren't aware of it right this is what we're doing this now so we can be aware of anything that's coming up we don't let it Miss we don't miss it right you know we we've got that would have all been money saved if we did hire a nurse right oh yeah well it looks good it looks good it looks great I'll say that I'll talk about that at the end of the meeting um anything else you'd like to add no was that yeah so like I said that I'll I'll check back with him in a couple weeks and see where if he's made any progress with it that's great Kenny appreciate it no problem I know it takes time that's why we have you doing I don't mind doing it thank you I appreciate it new business what's up cupcake refund request we have a request here I will read it dear Board of Health the owner of what's up cupcake has requested a refund for her annual food license she attended the Bristol aie fall show on October 19th 20124 and failed to provide her certificate at that time chairwoman Barbara kab requested she return on the 20th with her permit Jennifer bashad the owner came into the health department that following week and spoke to Barbara kabia and Elizabeth Mora how do you say your last name like I don't know it morera morera requesting a $125 refund due to loss of sales please see attached invoice for payment to what's up cupcake and she did send us an invoice so I I shall tell you what happened I was um we couldn't have our we weren't able to have our regular food inspector for the um fall show at Bristol Aggie I went over and inspected the food trailers and trucks uh this lady had a cupcake truck I didn't see the plaa that when they come and get a permit we then go out and inspect the vehicle and we give them a plet that they have to leave in the front window M it wasn't there I asked her where it was and she said I don't know and she pulled out a cabinet and started papers were flying Every Which Way couldn't find a receipt couldn't find inspection couldn't find the plet um I said well sorry you I don't have any record of you right here maybe back at the office but I don't have anything here and um I said you're going to have to close up and explained it to the person running the fall show this lady that was there and I said but listen go home look and see if you can find the paperwork and then here's my phone number just text me and I will come back tomorrow morning and make a special trip to check you out and you'll be all set she said okay she was a little upset but wasn't too very very upset and um she did she found it about 8 o'clock at night she F she texted it to me I said great what time you come what time do you want to meet tomorrow at Crystal agie and she said I should be there about 8 8:30 I said okay I'll be there at 8 I was there at 8 she never showed up I left at 10 um few days later I'm not sure which day it was to be honest with you she came in in and was very very upset um and was very upset with with me basically and wanted a refund which I believe she's gone to one or two other events in the town but I don't think she should get it back I mean I they she had the opportunity to come back I was going to make another trip special for her and was the fall show that second day yeah it was Saturday and Sunday Saturday and Sunday so she didn't show up at all she didn't show up at all Sunday she just showed up that Saturday I'm going to say the same I agree with you I mean it's your responsibility as a business owner to have the appropriate paperwork with you and and especially it has to be on the window right I mean I had a food trailer for about 5 years and every town I went to about seven different towns and each one would give you a placket and you keep it in a manila folder and you keep it in a safe place and when you go to that town you put it out there because that's your proof that you have paid for the permitting or and you have had it inspected which she hadn't either did did she say why she didn't show on S on Sunday no I don't believe she did Elizabeth do you remember her saying anything about why she didn't show Sunday yeah that would have been maybe a mitigating Factor like something came up and she couldn't show and then maybe we give her half the money back but I say no no no say no no even half the money it was her responsibility it was her responsibility to have absolutely because every other vendor there had to do the they did and they all had it so they all had the paperwork they all had everything you know she said oh you know I had a family member that was sick and I couldn't show up Sunday and I mean but to just not show up and then not give not give an explanation it wasn't a courtesy she had my phone number you know and you were there 8:00 in the morning on Sunday yes and she had your information and never contacted you I say no it's my vote okay anyone want to make a motion to not pay her I'll make the motion motion to not pay what is it um uh what's up cupcake yeah what's up cupcake refund I second that motion okay could I have a count please I mean yes vote i i i and it passes not to give the refund to what's up cupcake second on the list Solid Waste recommendation for trash bag price increase okay Solid Waste committee met Monday November 4th 2024 and voted to recommend to the Board of Health a trash bag increase for the pay as you throw program Robert Perry made a motion to raise the price of the lodge trash bags from 20 to $28 a roll and the small would increase from 10 to 15 they took into consideration the elderly are most likely the residents who purchased the small and only raise the price by $5 verse $8 we had thought long and hard about this and it it was needed yeah needed we we definitely didn't want to do it um we're trying the solid waste committee is working really hard trying to find grants trying to work with d we're getting bonus monies there to help out with uh some of the things that are needed up at the transfer station and um this is one of the things we just couldn't absorb all of it we had to help out I mean I don't know who I was at that meeting where we gentleman sitting across me I don't know if it wasn't Bob he was um right across from me I forget his name um but he was the one that was giving the numbers I forget who that was because he was like giving out like what what the costs were and then as we were going back and forth um even at $28 it should be 32 it should be 32 for it to break even it's a lot of money so there was and EXA exactly ter because as we I think differently and I'm I no disrespect to you too I think differently on these trash bags um but that's my opinion you know some of the towns they have a yearly fee and it's a lot more than this and it's not you can have a family of 20 pays the same amount as a little old man or a little old lady the only reason I I disagree is because it's just more plastic in our landfills where so most of the time people are taking and when I bought or purchased um the bags you would bag it up and you would put it inside another bag so it's just more bags in a bag sitting in the landfill so again no disrespect to you two but I think so differently about the trash bags I don't think we're we're helping the environment by just yeah it I don't know doubling up on all these bags and I don't know if those bags cost if those bags are something that is like more biodegradable than anything else I I don't know I I don't know that either I know there are some bags that are I don't know I don't I don't have the knowledge of that we got anything on that I don't think raising the price is going to increase the bag sales I it'll decre it decrease them because most people like myself went to right went to um yeah dumpsters so part of like so when we were discussing like like the pricing one of the things that came up was like the dumpsters and the dumpsters are more money than the bags now again that that's kind of and that's probably in general terms because for me it's me and my wife we use one bag a week that's it and but for somebody else who has a larger family or somebody else who has or Farm a farm you know or a business or something like that that's maybe that's that's more cost effective yeah but I you know I think that's few and far between the bottom line is like the the way that the pricing I mean I was the one who worked out you know what the pricing was and then when I you know I said if you want to break even you have to charge $32 I said that's too much money a lot of money cost of disposal is increasing and we're not raising the price on bags so people aren't going to buy more bags because they don't so it's not going to create more plastic waste it's really just increasing the cost of the bags so anything I think it'll decrease because it's going to DET teer people from and the bags are so thin they they tend to rip they don't even hold anything what that was many people's complaints that I've seen you know over on some of the the town pages on Facebook one one of the things that that I mentioned is to be transparent and to give them the numbers so when this this letter is supposed to go out in January I I believe is explain what the costs are it's not the bags it's the program right exactly right and people and you can hear it it's like $28 for garbage bags well it's not $28 for garbage bags 20 it's $28 as part of the program because the costs have gone up show them the cost show them what the I we had all the numbers that were there show them what the costs were show them what the increase was and show them that we're still running in a deficit even at 28 at $28 we're still running at touching it this isn't touching sure I mean the the and actually like the smaller bags were probably probably should have gone to like $20 should should have increased by are in a in a roll 20 I think 10 10 10 10 right now they're a dollar a piece and $2 a even in the small ones it's 10 is it 10 m so what the other thing that we talked about was so as I you know as I crunch the numbers I said well you should really take that and that should really go to 20 so we took some and we're like but most older people people with smaller really small homes are only going to use the smaller ones right so we don't want to put the burden on them so much so we took some of that cost and moved it over to the to the larger bags and then even still cut that back by like $4 $4 for the pack because it's just $32 is just you know it's too much money I I think you know it is a lot but the what else do you do you do they want to hire somebody from out of town do they want to do dumpsters I mean and that's all going to be more money than this right and that that would you know you you know would it be a fee that goes into your you know into your taxes or is it and that's extreme check comp sounds crazy3 $400 a year but you look at the I pay it cost me$ 250 a month from my small dumpster I think it's two yard I think I have yeah but is it that expensive I was paying 85 a month and then it went up to jumped right up to 125 last year well for this year in January so what are you paying now for that one dumpster per month 250 a month so it's gone up from 85 $85 to 125 they come bi-weekly oh okay they come by weekly okay it okay so again I think I said what really a really extremely important is to break it down by the Numbers tell them what the whole program cost tell them how many he had all those numbers that's where where we got it from Liz has all those numbers this is where it this is the cost of this is the cost of the program even at this we're losing we're losing money they have to take it out of the general fund in order to make up you know for that $4 of a b $4 a roal deficit and you know it's $2 more a week when when you when you break it right down to it you know not trying to be salesy or anything like that but really that's what it comes down to is you know if you were paying that now you're paying an extra $2 a week so you know your options are a dumpster your options are a private service your options are going to be more costly than this they are we're trying the city of ton does it Berkeley does it um doob do I don't know they don't have they don't have anything so people are responsible for their own stuff they have their dump and I believe you can bring everything there yourself okay or SW do know about so there like there's there's more than a few towns that that do the you know R do bags yeah because it's like I said to me it's it it's it's the fair way to do it you know as Fair as it as Fair as it's going to get because like I said it's me and my wife it's one bag a week and even then we could probably use half a bag a week you know dream because it's just the two of us right you recycle H do you recycle y yeah so that's the other thing nobody in town pays anything to recycle right there's a lot of recycling right and there's sure there's the other there's the other piece that you that we could roll into it is like I don't know if this program is including you know the recycling and as the whole piece of it that would be something that you could add in you're not being in charge for recycling and you can use examples here's another town they charge recycling on top of the bag feet on top of this so you know as long again I think as long I think you're still G to hear some some people who will be upset about it um you know uh do you want do you want to work with Liz on sending out the letters I'll do that I mean would you like to have any help you it's up to you Liz research discussed at the solid waste meeting that they could potentially put a notice in the tax bills that go out um so I'm thinking with any suggestions maybe we'll we would have to get this recommendation from s before their next meeting and I don't think we're going to have enough time to do it because tax bills go out next week tax bills go out next week well they have to get it to the company that senten them out so all the information needs to get sent to the third party they use so for them to add it to the envelope I think it's too late for us now okay well we can also send out a postcard or send something else I think it's it's worth it that maybe we could find somewhere I know if we used DP to make a postcard but it was fairly cheap really yeah maybe we could do something like that and then we don't pay postage I think it's called like a door to door or where they just deliver one to every house now what about the what about the one sheet that they fold it three times what is is that like a regular letter or is that that would be a regular letter you would have to put in an envelope and stamp it if we got a postcard it just be the postcard and it has is there a size limit on that postcard I'm wondering I don't think so the last time I tried to get a quote from BP it was I want to say it was like a 5 by8 postcard and it was fairly cheap I can look for those numbers I think I think it would' be more official with a letter you know to to send it out although I'll tell you I think if we made a really um eye popping postcard fair Fairly large people are like what's this wear a letter they're like oh yeah it's a to I agree with you Barbara on that you know it just but I don't know how much of that we could we could fit or how about this how about if you put um just enough information on the postcard and you can put that there's more information could we put on the our excent for more information go to the town website so if you want to see we have one too you could give them like some of the breakdowns and the NS if you say if you need more details on where these numbers have come from and the reasoning why you know go to this go to this website good ideaa I think eye catching um postcard too would be great use a QR code you know I don't know how to do that right you know that you always say that and I'm like I've tried three or four times it's like yeah I'm a take a picture that's all um I try it just doesn't work it doesn't always work with my phone either so I have a very old phone I'm attached to it I have a new phone and I still sometimes can't get it done that sounds that's a good idea okay so today you would need to make a motion to anybody like to make a motion to send these price increases to um what a select the select sure I'd like to make a motion to send those that price list to the board of Selectmen so in the future we can send out postcard second well you want to make a recommendation to increase the bag pric 15 got it you want to change that motion sure I'd like to change that motion can I make a motion to make a recommendation to the board of Selectmen to change the bag prices a large trash bag from 20 to 28 and the small bag increase from10 to $15 second um could I have a vote please I I I motion passes thank you Liz we love you Liz we couldn't do it without you save us okay next pum Health agent we all know we've been trying to get a really great health agent and um it's been a little tough but with the northern Bristol County Public Health Alliance they are hiring a health agent to work between five towns that belong to the alliance dton is one of the towns so we could have him or her come in and uh work a day or so or recommend different programs and um we have two um applications right now for a part-time health health agent so um I think we should have them come in and interview them yeah the resume look great I know this is taking a while and we did have interview before but we really want somebody we don't want this a stepping stone up their career we want we would like like someone to come in stay with Dayton and really help out and and accomplish something um so that's why we're being real picky we're sorry but we are being picky we want only the best for dton but what would the compensation be for the per dmmo I know we uh it's Matt Tannis yeah talking uh we're working because it probably will be less hours so we can raise it um per experience and we can hopefully go that way plus we'll be having um the health agent provided by the northern Bristol County Public Health Alliance and that is no charge okay that is a program that has a very good Grant system and they help us with the nursing the health agent um and and they've got a couple other things they're doing too they they're they're very good they're very good and um it's mostly made of nurses of the towns and the health agent and or the board and um the people that are on it smart smart and right up so question has this already started this program the nurse they're already out there it's been in effect about a year and a half they were doing the base of it right now we're running interviews we had two today I was on a zoom with them and very good very very good for nursing oh nice and I believe we did find a nurse who was phenomenal she won't be able to start until the beginning of January so we'll just have muddle through there but um a lot of the other towns have programs already in existence so she'll be going in and kind of f tun D we don't particularly have a program we don't have a program for um Dental examinations in schools some of the other ones do there are so many different programs out there that we can provide free of charge and like the grants I don't know where they are mhm these people they're phenomenal we all work together and they all help one another really nice um and it it's nothing but a plus to the town of dyon nothing but a plus and that 247 you can call the secretary up the girl that's running it also and she'll point you in the right direction she'll get you an answer if you need something specifically very quick there you go that's awesome yeah it it's very good great extremely good program extremely good I'm so happy they decided three or four years ago to sign uh for a while there they were like no we shouldn't do it and but they did so I'm glad I'm glad they're doing it and um hopefully in the near future we will have things running very smoothly around here okay the next one complaints feedback Bond and stable call schedule intervie with oh I'm so sorry Liz I do I'm sorry that's okay yes please do all right appreciate that see sole um yeah and if we could maybe have an emergency meeting with that and then we could present it to the Selectmen I think they have a meeting next Wednesday and I think they're pretty booked but maybe knowing our circumstances they might squeeze our recommendation in would we would we all need to uh interview this nurse and then make the recommendation to the selectman yes like we did last time okay but you already said you talked with her she yes she was on we yeah okay all right so that's the procedural piece of the whole thing I'm sorry that one we don't need that's another one that's coming in which one uh pop time nurse the agent we're all set with the agents not the nurse the nurse isn't we haven't got the paperwork for her yet doesn't it all that still have to be recommended to the selectman yes okay but let me uh get a hold of her tomorrow you can get a hold of her tomorrow the nurse yes the parttime do you want to interview the two agents though yes definitely the two agents but at the same time we probably could get the nurse in here too yeah and and that way we' have free to recommend up to the select um I think that the nurse that we do have I did talk to she um would be able to stop almost immediately okay good that's that's our part-time nurse and then there's also the the um Alliance okay their nurse is another one on top so we'll be having almost two poptime nurses covering working together so that would be great so one are own and one from the alliance yes okay and then the other two resumés or applications that we received were for the health agents and we would still maybe have access through the alliance for help oh we still do we haven't got one yet because I'm dragging my feet there too okay I'm like I I want I would like someone that knows what they're doing right or basically can touch on everything a lot of them coming in as you know they've gone to college and their Public Health graduates and have no knowledge of the septic and that end of it and what would you say the percentage of us having to do septic work at least 65 to 70% I was going to say that I was just waiting to see what you were going say what what are the raw numbers do you know Liz like how many are done in the town in a year yeah I can get that we report on that every year for the report so I I'd be curious to see how many subject inspections per tests whatever is involved for um for for a health inspector in the course of the year and where I'm going this is that so if we had Matt Tannis like we have him we have these other two people and then um you know with that we can figure out it's like okay how this is going to be divied up between three people you know well well it depends if we get a part-time um agent in here that can do all that we may be able to just I hate to say it because both of them have been so good our uh inspectors yeah um we may just try to cover it ourselves you know and if we can that's great but if we always have oh yes some people that are in reserve right so if I know this backup you have this person Matt Matt Tannis who's been doing it oh he's been great he's very very busy I from what I understand so I am going to just reach out to him just to um just to touch base and say Hey you know here we are Board of Health um and um but there's the thing like even if we have a part-time person and they can't cover and something else is coming up you can bring in one of these PE people that are Prett exactly you you know from what you said they are fine with that that's what they would really like to do great that's great you know so then when win win we're covered right yes but if we could get the just the raw numbers I'd be curious just to see what those are I don't know and the this health agent that we're interviewing he'll be able to start I believe immediately also oh nice so we're getting there guys we're getting there and I think it's been worth it holding off and going through the rough time yeah because I I I hope so I hope this time everything works we've had we think we're all set then all of a sudden it's like no they go another one but maybe it's meant to be um we've come a long way guys no we certainly have we're going to get better too certainly okay so you're going to talk to them I'll schedule the intervie make sure I'm pretty creep but you going Vinnie how's your days as far as interviewing it's fine I mean I can I've got um I got to see what they both work so I gota see what is you know what I mean it's most likely going to be in the afternoon yeah that's probably fine usually at afternoons okay I just got um a city of tton of the elections meeting Thursday morning 10: other than that I I can make an accommodation it should go pretty quickly I I mean it shouldn't be long drawn out like four or five interviews it should go pretty quickly and we can get through it yeah we got it all done one meeting and that way we're done getting there guys um okay okay let me see what else there might be here okay items not reasonably anticipated with e e 5e complaint feedback barn and stable permits oh I did that on purpose no I didn't I didn't I'm sorry I put a check mark right next to it okay stable permit we did reenact we voted to reenact it and we did reenact the bar the bond which actually I think we're because of the confusion we had talked about changing the name to animal stabling permit so basically it will handle all animals including horses and all other little junkies and llamas and everything except for canines except for dogs okay so you're talking about having one I want St yes from my understanding horses is overseen sort of by the state so that gets reported I believe to the state the I think we should leave the yeah the stable yeah she couldn't come tonight okay so maybe should we just toes table that for next I would table it but I want have spy here yeah tabled the whole combining of it but I didn't want to mention the feedback I got so there was you know the price was one thing that it went from 10 to 25 so it was a significant jump and then I added to the packet a new stable permit because um the way we Ed it is we were keeping track of who has animals in Cas of evacuation and any typ of disease okay and on the stable permit there was no way I for them to list what other the animals they had so if we're keeping track of what who what animals are Weare then the stable per should have a list of what other animals you have okay and who who did this you did this that was one of the uh feedback I got from one of the residents she said well if you're keeping track of animals for barn permit how come you're not keeping track of animals for stable table so tricky but again I think that should be I think if we table this it's it's a good idea because I think we really need Stacy's input on the stable license or stable permit because she's the person who responds to the state so I don't want to have the stable it's just for tracking purposes okay because if you read below it says this information is being requested to prepare for an emergency what animals will need to be evacuated of notifications or quarantines would need to okay be required so to add it to the stable would just be retracting it okay but stle would be good yeah it's only fair that's her MH I know for division for expertise yeah I think we should table it definitely I'll make a motion um I make a motion that we table um looking into any changes um in the barn and stable permits until the next meeting for input from Animal Control stac that's second could I have a vote on this place I I pass this um that next the item before that the one on the on the complaints um just want to make sure like that we are all whenever we see the com complaints come in that we all get notified and how many complaints would you say you've doing this long AB bar how many complaints would you say you get we the town gets in the course of a year I don't know depends what's going on I mean round numbers half a dozen 10 more this this year seems to be a little higher for some reason last year I don't remember getting that many complaints yeah this year with the rat complaints it's Skyrocket well that's the one that's a big problem that's what I just saw was when I was looking at the meeting from the last um meeting I was had to leave yeah was the one on the rat complaint that was coming into town so I'm just curious as like how many there are and again to go back is is that like a 30-day resp time that's in place I mean is that what they're expecting so some no I we usually I usually go right out right out I I usually go right out when there's the complaint within three or four hours I'm there so maybe you know usually like if you file like if you file a complaint with a company or or a group like I just filed a complaint like T's help you know like what 30 days you're going to have a response MH H before 30 days right now that's something that might give everybody breathing room right gives the town a little bit of breathing room in in order to address that unless it's something that is like it's Vermin like with rats is that going to be something that has to be done immediately I think that would have to be done on a Time L of health is different than that than a lot of other things the Board of Health is immediately almost everything out there am I right Liz yeah I mean um it's a health concern it's a health concern we would never go 30 days we'd at least call right back yeah and talk to someone or Liz would call me wherever I am and say hey this is going on here this is going on there um so that that I understand but I'm talking about like non-health conern types of things that might come our way anyway it's usually all health related stuff yeah it's we we don't have too many things that let us know um it it's really kind of like it's like the police department you go okay you don't say h I'll do when we get can't do that get no fortunately I I've been shopping and Liz has called me I'm like okay just go just leave everything and go and take care of the problem or um with the verman problem in north dton um that's one of the reasons we reenacted the bond is because people were having a few chickens or a few ducks or one person has a pot belly pig that we ended up going in the lady was very nice and did let us in and she didn't have to because it was no bond permit we had no legs to stand on but she was very nice and let us go in and it was a clean place and then she says I don't see why we have rats and I said come here you see under the fence those little holes that's rats you see over here under your shed all these holes that's rats you see under your front walkway that's rats you see under your foundation that's rats and she says what do I do I said well you you call an exterminator um you can get poison a lot of people don't want to use it because it can kill owls and and Hawks and whatever I said and what you do is you put the poison down now I think there's something else that's out there that doesn't bother other animals and um put the poison in cover it up if it's uncovered the next morning or the next day they're still there make sure the Poison's there and just keep putting the poison until they go or if you don't want to touch anything you don't want to do anything you have to call an exterminator and I didn't think it was fair that because that one person had animals it was affecting all the houses around them and it was growing like a cancer and I'd spend my weekends driving around saying hi how you doing you notice any verman holes and they're going what oh no I saw one run across over there and I okay and I was just trying to narrow it down and narrow it down and educ when you start having holes all over the place like that that's a bigger problem huge because it's not just one there's a lots no it's harder to get rid of no I totally I mean I totally understand you know if it's really you know water or sewage or rats or something it's got to be adjust right away I don't know if there were any other complaints that come in that are not um as I don't think we have do we have have we had anybody that said hey wait a minute nobody came no no we've G to every single one that's good then I mean that's that's fine Liz cracks the whip by have to go right away okay no that's fine it's like you gotta go here got to go you don't want that I understand like I said I was thinking about you know other other things that might be able to respond again I'd have to see you know what the complaints were that are coming in but if they're all related to that then forget yeah they're related then we have some problems as we did with the um the septic system we helped some people out that we found another way to help save the money money on it and it was totally legal but um when they have problems they come in they sit down and we talk it over we try list it's amazing yeah now is there any way that that can be shared with all of us when a complaint comes in not really why do you know what do you know about septics well no I'm not talking about what do you know about septics well as as a complaint not specific I'm not saying that we go out and do an investigation any complaints it could be but that's kind of my job right now because we don't have the health agent and it should be the health agent's job it's not even the Chairman's job yeah but we we should all be aware again we don't know I don't know the specifics but we shouldn't be aware okay a complaint has come in and it's related to this so that you know again so that we're all in the no like yep complaint came in Barber's taking care of it because it's easier we just feel like we want we all want to be in the no yeah yeah you know it was nice when we we did get you know notification of one complaint it was like oh okay thanks yes just you know so we're all on the same page so if something does come of a complaint we're not sitting here in a meeting like um no we tried it that's why this this little packet is here so you guys but it's nice to know we're three professionals and that's why they call this the committee three people this isn't normal right no because we normally have a health agent right we have a health AG for right now we don't have a health agent so it's just kind yeah because it's just nice knowing heal agent answ to the board right yes they do but they take care of the problem basically what that is involved and then they further it on to the Board of Health it's not something that they call the Board of Health and say oh this is going on here this is going on there not unless it's something that we have to vote on or decide on otherwise the health agent takes control of monthly report right but it's it's just nice knowing what's coming in right it feels like we're part of the board because like I said we're a committee of three people it's not a committee of one person it's not a committee of two people you have trying to say you're trying to say you should be involved in the day-to-day running is that what you're trying to say we're just can you just let us know if there's any complaints that come in it's nice to know you know the things that the complaints that are coming in so even if I run into somebody I don't really know many people in the town but if I do and somebody says something and I'm not like not that I would be going out and you know expressing any confidential Absolut I was a police officer for 22 years I do know what confidenti so there there's the other thing like I get it they have our emails right but it's nice to they have email otherwise it's embarrassing if we don't know what's going on and then I'm sitting there like uh I don't know somebody email like right but it's still do you see what I'm saying it's still what you're saying but still the bo of help I mean when it's something right but we're a committee of three people so each one of us should be aware of what is going on as far as complaining it also it shouldn't just go to one person it should go to all three of us I'm not saying all of us are going out in investigations but it's nice that we're all involved and we know what's it also gives us a better metric on what's the workload of the health inspector what's the workload of how many complaints let's say that all of a sudden you know complaints double and we're like okay why is that happening why did that just happened you know we went from 10 and now we're now we're at like two a month or three a month or something like that so that now we're aware you know of what's going on and now now do we have to to shift and move do we have to call a meeting and say Hey you know something's going on here um what are we going to do to address it like I said I I don't know about septic systems neither do I I know about septic assistants but to inspect them I don't know that but if you're aware there's a problem if there's a big problem with the septic not that we're we know the ins and outs you know you know what I'm saying but it's nice to know if there's an issue that came up right it's it takes two seconds I'm sure it took two seconds to type that email confidential and needs to be you know dealt differently I can always send an email using the status you know confidential so you absolutely something that absolutely keep discreet absolutely that's an option especially if something is in the investigation okay but do you know that she can send it all to us but if we all start saying well we should do this we should do this we should do that do you know what that is but nobody's saying we should do this we should do that we should do that all we're saying is can you just notify the other two people on this nothing we we just want to be part of this board bar three of us and right and what I'm saying is there's three of us here it's not just barara on this board the three of us what I say so we should be privy to any complaint that comes in just like you do is what I'm saying I'm not trying to be difficult no disrespect to but person Bo right that's and and again we can't we we have we should all be in the no not that we're going to address it but if it's something it's that we all know about and you know Bob you're like okay I'm taking I'm taking the point on this and you know and I got this great you know just so that arguing on that part right and also so that again so that we know is like what is the volume and what's coming in and how that and how that gets disseminated amongst the people people that are working for the board as well and and so it doesn't all go back on you bar you know all the time you know you know you're probably used to doing this because you're the only one doing it for a long time no this is the way the it happens this is the way that the um Health agent handles things and we are supposed to have faith in the health agent to realize they're doing their job correctly you know when we get a health agent I'm not going to be saying tell me what's going on in the whole town that's their job right but right now I think you're missing the point we don't have a health agent that's why we're saying for right now until we have one if we could be a part of what complaints are coming in it would be great and when we do well then that means we have a meeting every day if you want to be a part of it and discuss it why would we have a meeting every day because we're not supposed to be talking about business unless it's a meeting am I right Liz okay but nobody decisions decision nobody's talking about decisions all Liz is doing is sending a message to all three of us saying hey got this complaint today chickens North dyon that's it that's that's all we're asking we're not asking for a laot is an email email text messages like you know um you know what what's going on with this hasn't been resolved and the other part too is that we do get a health inspector person they're going to have to give us a report right this complaint was here this was the resolution this was the complaint this this was that people in the town might want to see that transparency too I don't know but just anything that comes in is public record because we're it so anybody can come in and ask anything and I yeah sure yeah but that that's all that's that's all that we're go we're going this is like just so that we're in the no we're not saying that we're going to you know we're going to go you know hop in the car and then drive down and absolutely look at a septic system have no idea that you know what we're looking at that's all I sure I wouldn't know what I'm looking at I know it's a b sometimes I wonder what I'm looking at too but that's what we're asking again no disrespect to you Barbara I know you've been here way longer than I have long of them Vinnie has we that's all we're asking you know out of fairness if Liz can just share with us a quick you know um it's just an email or a quick email on the town if it's me and you at first for a little while so I was in the habit of just communicating with bar and Bar's here every day it's just nice to it it feels like we're part of the committee you know and we know what's going on just so you know when the health agent comes in correct you will not be getting all these notifications that's fine that's fine no this is the monthly report yeah that's fine mon but we're still getting unless you go in and you hear about something or somebody calls you and says hey what's going on about this then you can come in and you can ask the health agent what's going on here or if it's something that's more serious too right you know if it's something that has to be escalated in one way shape or form or another but if it's like you know rats that you know are here you don't want to be involved in that let me tell you I don't either coming in the office and Liz is like oh we got another one got another one but that's fine like just just so that we're yeah that that would be great we would I would really appreciate it okay sounds good I've got I've got somewhere to be um okay what do we have okay items items not reasonably anticipated within 48 hours does anybody have anything no public input I don't know we have so many people here schedule next meeting the next third Tuesday in December is the 17th 17 12 17 and then we may have that emergency meeting for interviews
