kindness and as board president my continued vision is to promote Community engagement and to unite our board members as a team as I had mentioned in my J opening remarks as board president each board member was asked to contribute and sponsor a specific initiative each month throughout the year during the month of November Stephanie kavas pastana chose to sponsor World kindness to emphasize the importance of compassion empathy and positive human connection it encourages people to engage in small acts of kindness by fostering goodwi reducing stress and promoting mental health or mental well-being celebrated on the world kindness Day November 13th which was yesterday it reminds us of the power of kindness and creating a world where everyone feels valued and respected again the full video be will be on a District's website at end of the month and at this time let's take a look at our world kindness video hi I am Stephanie gonzal Pana and it has been a great honor serving this community as a member of the Elizabeth Board of Education over the past 9 years as a board under Madame President Charlene baas we have launched a number of initiatives during 2024 that has enhanced learning for all students of the Elizabeth public schools for the month of November I've chosen to sponsor World kindness highlighted by the celebration of world kindness day on November 13th Elizabeth public school's commitment to kindness starts at the very beginning of each school day when students recite the pledge of Ethics throughout the rest of the school day character education is a featured component of academic lessons and acties as a board member I will always support programs within our diverse and Multicultural community that promote kindness character and empathy both on world kindness day and every day thank you for all you do to spread kindness and to make those around you throughout the Elizabeth public schools feel welcome feel supported and capable of reaching their full potential one selfless act of kindness at a time give a little kindness give a little kindness give a little way give a little give a little give a little thank you so much and that ends or wraps all of our initiatives for the year so next month it'll be something that I'll be presenting all right I know stay tuned stay tuned for the last one of the year so thank you to all the board members for just your commitment to um um making sure that we all work together as a team and to create an initiative each month that showed what we as board members can contribute but also what our district was doing throughout the the entire city of Elizabeth so thank you again at this time I'm going to ask our superintendent of schools to present the community updates thank you Madame President we're going to begin with our community updates wonderful next slide please first a reminder to our Community with regard to our Thanksgiving recess our schools will close um at 12:15 half day on November 27th and our district will be closed on both Thursday November 28th and Friday uh November 29th for Thanksgiving recess next slide please a very important reminder to all of our parents in our school Community uh we have our parent teacher conferences that are scheduled for November 20th as a reminder our schools will be closing for our students on Wednesday November 20th at 12:15 in order to allow the opportunity for our all of our Educators to be able to engage uh with our families uh on this day uh information will be shared uh by all of our principles with our families with regard to the variety of ways in which you'll be able to engage with your children's teachers next slide also reminder to our community we have our uh report cards that will be available on power school on November 25th um this the marks the end of the first marking period very exciting as we started the school year on September 6 thank you so much fantastic no more next slide please okay thank you so wonderful reminder to all of our families uh our principles will be sending out Communications to um all of our families with regard to how uh you can access your children's report cards on power school next I am I had to catch myself at this so equally important um as we finally are experiencing a little bit of a cooler uh temperature which took quite some time to finally experience a true uh fall season a reminder to our families that uh with this with the cold season uh comes the flu and RSV which are both um already on the rise uh We've provided various resources to the community and as well as on our district website that offer information about how to identify those symptoms whether it's the flu or whether it's the symptoms for RSV and most importantly the steps that you can take to protect yourself from these illnesses in order to prevent the spread to others uh you can find these Resources by going on our site and clicking on the flu and RSV um icon on the top of the page and that will take you directly uh to the web page with the information so next I'd like to be able to turn to our monthly edition of inside EPS news from Central I know I love it turning the page uh so we're highlighting this month um our 19th put my glasses on for this the 19th students that have received a national recognition program honors from the college board we're highlighting this evening our students from Alexander Hamilton academy and our John E dwire Academy and how appropriate that we our student representative this month is from dwire Academy so 19 um high school students earned their academic honors from the College Board National recognition program and just to be able to share with our community uh the national recognition program creates uh specific Pathways uh to college for our students from underserved communities by awarding them academic honors and connecting them with universities across the country most important uh so for the first time academic honors recognize first generation students in addition to Rural and small town black indigenous and Hispanic or Latino students and the college uses the colleges use these honors in order to identify students from underrepresented groups who have excelled uh in classrooms and uh most importantly on College Board assessments so we'd like to be able to honor uh our students for their outstanding academic achievements so from Alexander Hamilton Preparatory Academy we have Greenwood atwe uh usra law Katherine Alia Natalie Ruez Tyler Bailey Anthony lims Andrew persad Wilbur Sanchez Rona concepion Kimberly Martinez Thomas Peters Joanna Santos uh FAO deling Lis Molina Leonardo Pino isidra Hernandez Isaiah Moran and Jonathan Rodriguez and from John uire Technology Academy we would like to recognize uh Diego F so wonderful and congratulations to our students I know that our principles at both the acmy have uh really celebrated their uh academic achievements so it's wonderful to be able to share with our community as a whole so next I'll be able to highlight uh one of our students at school number 28 who won the English language arts Honor Society full creative challenge so at Juan Pablo DTE Jose julan Marti School number 28 Samantha Moreno was one of three students named a winner of the English language arts Honor Society full creative challenge so students in grades six through nine were asked to read and listen to The Poetry of Benjamin seia uh before writing their own poem a maximum of 200 Words which is very challenging that and had to be suitable for performance and it discusses an issue of social justice in which the student feels passionate about once written the students were then required to record themselves performing their poem so not just a focus on writing the poem but also being able to perform Moreno's poem titled women's rights passionately expresses her thoughts and feelings about the undeniable strength of women and calls for women to continue their ongoing fight for respect and acceptance in society uh so our congratulations uh to our amazing uh student Samantha Moreno from school number 28 for this honor we had a press release um issued and shared throughout our community and once again we're congratulating our next is with regard to our November celebrations and on events uh events that will be taking place in the month of November so we celebrate Native American heritage month we of course this evening had uh woodro Wilson school number 19 uh celebrate Puerto Rican heritage each month and I think the students uh did an outstanding job uh with their performance we also celebrate National family literacy month we celebrate national French week uh November 6 through the 12th of course um equally important we celebrate Veterans Day this past November 11th and we had wonderful opportunity to have our Hy academy uh students from JROTC joined us this evening and we also had a wonderful experience this past Wednesday U actually that was only yesterday with our students as we went on a a tour of the city uh Tuesday also that's right we began at school 21 on Tuesday and continued on Wednesday and we had the pleasure of spending a great deal of time with our cadets at paully academy and of course our world kindness day which was widely celebrated uh on Wednesday November 1 13th and lastly we have our American Education week to look forward to that will run from November 18th starting on Monday through November 22nd and we have quite the extensive activities occurring at all of our schools that we'll be sharing with our community wonderful opportunity to be able to celebrate uh the education that uh is provided um all throughout the nation and lastly equally important National parental involvement day which is celebrated on November 21st and we thank our parents for uh their support for their encouragement uh for their commitment uh to our district to their children and lastly National family week which is November 24th through the 30th and lastly our message of of Happy Thanksgiving to all and this concludes Community updates however I'm going to be moving on now to our second presentation uh which will cons cover our District's promise goals I can continue with um so this evening I'll be providing a very brief presentation on our promise goals and our high school graduation pathway and this will be reflective of the uh accomplish ments of our class of 2024 uh in various categories uh we established these promised goals uh back in the 2013 14 school year and each year we report out to our community on the progress that is being made in our schools it is a a snapshot that is pro provided this evening as we wait for the accountability uh profiles uh report to be uh closed and be ready for distribution to our community so a more a lengthier presentation will be made to our community with regard to various aspects of our organization and uh specifically the areas that are measured by the New Jersey Department of Education and how it is that we are performing so let's turn to uh the first metric which is our goal of striving to have 90% of our students graduating on time so in the chart that you have before you on the screen you're able to see the class of 2024 as well as the preliminary Federal calculation that was um prepared on October 8th and of course this data is pending uh final approval by the New Jersey Department of Education which is the reference to the accountability report which will be shared with our community so wanted to be able to share the district's um graduation rate at 88.4% and then you're able to see the individualy as listed on the screen uh with regard to their uh graduation rates also wanted to make mention mentioned that back in the 2021 school year the New Jersey depart Department of Education was required to make changes to the calculation of the high school graduation rate for federal reporting of purposes so it excludes uh students with disabilities whose IEPs include uh modifications or exemptions on state course requirements on attendance requirements for graduation on State graduation assessment requirement and since 2021 to the present uh we we've been presenting the federal calculation for uh these areas that we measure our next area is our four-year again now you're able to see the graphic and um incredibly proud to be able to share uh our continued increase each year in the number of students graduating on time within four years we've had a 12.3% increase in the federal C graduation rate from our cohort of 20212 this past June with our cohort of 2024 and grateful to all of our Educators to all of our administrators at all of our high schools uh for their hard work and effort in ensuring that our students graduate on time and also as we have here um all of our directors from the various departments every Department makes an impact on our students uh being able to successfully graduate on time whether it's the transportation department ensuring our students arrive on time whether it's Food Service insur ining and nutrition of our students oh our technology department of course uh our plant and property our facilities being up to par to ensuring and of course all of our instructional directors the contributions that you make alongside all of our principles all of our vice principles and all of our Educators as we continue on now you're able to see the ontime graduation rate by individual Academy and you're able to see the trends over time from 2021 through 2024 and you can see the growth uh marked by each and every Academy then we're able to present our ontime graduation by ethnicity so we're able to provide um the rate of performance um graduation as as defined as ontime graduation for our Asian population our black population our Hispanic population and our White population and you're able to see in each and every category growth that was made as we continue on we're able to see the um now view the data um as it defined by our female students and our male students and once again uh you're able to see the growth whether it is our females or whether it is our uh males um as they strive for the on time graduation and then of course another way to view the data is with regard to economic status and um that is defined by the data that we collect uh from our families and you're able to see U it displayed whether it's our free and reduced family uh students or whether it's our full pay students and either whether you're viewing it through one lens or the other you are able to see the growth for category and then lastly uh you're able to see the data total number of students that were in the cohort of 2024 were 2007 we had 1,789 students that graduated um in June of 20 excuse me August by August of 2024 because we're very fortunate to afford our students both a June graduation as well and then also an August graduation in order to capture the hard work and effort of our students during summer school and then the number of students um that uh graduated passing the NJ uh GPA which is the 11th grade assessment in both English language arts and Mathematics we're also sharing the number of students that graduated Under The Substitute competency test process as well as students that graduated under the portfolio appeals uh process we also are sharing the number of students that received a state endorsed high school diploma um as a result of meeting the alternate requirements as specified in their IEPs and also the students that graduated in 2023 due to age without an assessment requirement um when you look at this data and you compare it um over time you see a steady growth and that's reflective of the curriculum that is in place that is reflective of the assessments that are designed to ensure that our students um are become familiar with how State assessments are structured uh because ultimately our students need to be uh proficient in all areas uh so once again congratulations to um our students across all of our eight high schoolies and this concludes our presentation for this evening I can certainly move slides but I cannot turn it off thank you wonderful and this completes our presentation again this was just a a highlight of our data we will be Pres presenting a comprehensive uh report to our community um as soon as the data is no longer inaro thank you madam superintendent for that brief presentation I love it when it's brief um I just want to thank you I just wanted to take a moment to thank Stephanie for providing the the kindness packets to everyone so I just want to say thank you and I I I was remissed for to not allow her to say a few words so if you would like to say a few words on your initiative you can do so now I'll just say a few words thank you Madame President um first and foremost for giving me the month of November which I was very honored to take on um world kindness day was celebrated on nationally on November 13th in my world in my eyes it should be not just only celebrated once a month for the month of November but it should also be celebrated 365 days each and every single year um thank you for Madame superintendent and for our assistant superintendent for taking some time out of their busy schedules and joining me for the past couple of days along side with Madame President to visit our schools um and celebrating kindness with each and every single you know grade level that we have we saw the little ones over school 50 and they were you know our tiny little babies three and four year olds and there's not much that we can probably you know tell them about kindness but we did tell them that they can be great Super Friends and how they can say please and thank you to their friends and thank their teachers and their parents and all of you know our school popul population and that was all it was just it was sometimes I see three sometimes I'm sorry I cannot hear the board members on this side can you please fix okay so board members as you're speaking on the microphone I cannot hear you from the middle so can you please speak closer so that I can understand what you're saying so with the use of facilities oh now it's better with the use of facilities sometimes I see five sometimes I see three is there an amount of um denials that we give out or you know I I would just like to know if if there's there's so there's only five requests this month or is there numerous requests pretty much pretty much we received five and put five on there aren't really that many that are rejected thank you that's my question if how many were rejected there weren't any rejected this month this month okay thank you Mr Kennedy and then it split between 4B and 4bb is the um use facilities where we have to charge full fees understand okay thank you any other questions for T 4B use of facilities seeing none Mr Kennedy please add it to the agenda any questions for Tab 4 BB use of facilities with considerations see n Mr cany Please add it to the agenda any questions for Tab 4 C field trip considerations I have a comment Madame President yes yes um first I want to say thank you to the principal and teacher because I was one of the board M who request data about field Tre and it is amazing see 83 field treats uh from different places from you know um the aquarium College Princeton performan in New York New Jersey performance art center planetarium uh to explore the solar system and Aquarium to explore the marine life does mean I want to say thank you to the principal teacher because I know it's teacher who want to dedicate their time uh is it is not mandatory and also a lot of paperwor behind all of these Tre fi treats that mean I'm happy and thank you so much thank you Madame President absolutely any other questions for t forc or comments or questions seeing numers cedy please add it to the agenda we will discuss 4D when we come back tab five authorizations report any questions for tab five authorizations report any questions for tab five authorizations report seeing n Mr Kennedy please add it to the agenda at this time any questions for tab six Finance and Accounting reports any questions for tab six Finance and Accounting report see n Kenedy please add that to the agenda are there any questions for tab 6A supplemental Finance report any questions for tab 6A supplemental Finance report seeing them candid please add that to the agenda at this time are there any questions for tab seven Awards a contract report any questions for tab seven yes madame president thank you okay tab seven I have two questions first one is for uh page number one the four contract is by recommendation by Anthony Dino um right here this contract is to support mental hell of our student does mean I'm happy to see this but I want I have two question based on this Pro this contract the first one is how will we select the schools for this specific program and the second one is how will we select the students in that specific schools do mean it is an amazing contract but I am little interested in the selection of the student and also in the selection of the schools is based on the needs of the student is based on the needs uh will be a I don't know a presentation inside the auditorium or it as individual uh program like we select some student we bring down to the auditorium to present this kind of of a presentation or how will be the process if you don't have the question you can I can certainly provide a report with to the schools that are participating this is actually an extension uh from the 23 24 school year uh where schools participated in this initiative they're continuing this school year it is classroom based so you have your Elementary uh early grades that focus on empathy skills uh such as kindness and understanding and then the Middle School um and High School uh have assemblies where they bring in all of the students so Elementary classroom based middle school and high school assembly based but I'll gladly provide a report with the participating schools thank you m superintendent I'm happy and this is what I want to he is you know a presentation for the school that needed this is uh their Community is to support the mental health of a student just to get in records thank you indeed thank you and the second question sure is on page two um one two three four contract I see a great organization right here hispa and for the community and everybody hispa is a organization uh is a 51 organization who is Hispanic people who uh support our student and Inspire them my question is this this question you because I have an agreement with this organization in my district it's a great program and they is an online presentation virtual presentation to the student and also after they in individual Clon they send us record that mean I want to make sure that we can use this record to support and Inspire and order the student in different school do mean if I already receive the um record or all these amazing people we can collect that record and Inspire another school because it's a great great organization and I want to hear from the person who make this recommendation so the person that made the recommendation is not here today right he's not here but he made a great recommendation I just want to acknowledge thank you it's a great great program yes I actually been in our district for my goodness I'm going to say probably approximately 15 years if my memory serves correct um incredible opportunity where we have a variety of individuals from the private sector that are coming in and speaking to our students and really serving it as an inspiration they're sharing their life stories they're sharing uh their career paths how it is in fact they achieved uh their goals and we're really happy to share that we've increased the number of schools uh that are participating from 10 to 12 schools I can share with you the schools that are participating um in hispa now with regard to your recommendation um I think I would have to obtain approval from hispa directly with regard to whether they would feel comfortable sharing um the recording of the um presentations that are made in the individual classrooms or in the assemblies with the nonparticipating schools that's something that of course I would have to clear with them I'm not sure um that would be allowable because we do pay a there's a cost for participation per school that is uh covered through the year-long participation but really um amazing uh opportunity for our students and I think it's had a tremendous imp impact we have um um our schools that are participating schools 3 five 6 9 12 uh School 13 14 15 19 25 and 28 so great opportunity to continue to support uh this valuable initiative thank you m superintendent yes this is thank you and I'm so happy because I heard from people from NASA from Silicon Valley and the way they explain and is is they don't explain from the from the desk they show the student the real word do mean thank you so much Madame superintendent to share the school and thank you Madame President I don't have more questions thank you Madame President yeah I had a question um page number two I know the director is not here but maybe um I can hear you you can hear me now yeah just move it you can hear me now I think it's working yeah I think I think it's working you can hear okay uh page number two um I know the director is not here but my question is about the first contract uh the mobile dental service to be from December to June is around the district district Y and in how we select the schools to be part or the school need to make the request uh I know that the Bright Smiles van is working with a small cohort of schools for this year uh so essentially as a pilot program uh so those schools uh it's in collaboration with the principles and kind of determining U the participation I don't believe there's more than six schools that will be participating uh this year and then they their intent is to be able to expand the initiative for next year to cover more schools in terms of the process for selection I will certainly share that with you I know they met recently in order to determine how the schools were going to identified can we include in the future can we include the schools that are going to be included to stop asking that question that the same thing yes and timing is really critical because um that first conversation with the entity correct it may be with regard to the initiative itself and rolling it out and obtaining board approval in order to be able to sit down and plan so we may not have the schools when we start a new partnership uh it's through those conversations it'll evolve okay but when we do know the schools of Cu a lot of times we just want to know like what schools are being done what neighborhood this initiative being done but I do I did want to I did want to acknowledge the fact that there's a diversity of um programs being done in the district whether it's the pet therapy the substance abuse the mental health um I thought those were really great programs so just thank you uh for all the work that all of our directors do to bring us um very unique um out of the box opportunities for our students are there any questions any more questions for Award of contracts I have uh Sor I'm going toow uh Maria Cal ask some questions thank thank you um Madam president yes uh yes I agree with you uh I think that we have some amazing programs and we're definitely thinking outside the box presenting them with uh Tito the dog we're amending his contract is that in order to expand for what page uh page three I just noticed that it says that we're amending his current contract and a shout out to a former student so I love that Stephen maritz the second one yes yeah the therapy dog just asking are we amending the contract because we're expanding or is it is there another reason we had put through uh initially an authorization to be able to partner uh with Mr marwitz with this initiative this is now detailing specifically the school that is participating so as you can see school number 15 is going to be benefiting from the therapy dogs so we amended the contract in order to show which school and specifically the services that they will be receiving perfect and that had not been um initially outlined in the original authorization thank you absolutely if we Madam president if we can move on to page four if um can have a better understanding with of what the contract with Vanguard technology advisers is sure sure uh so I I um this is in reference to cyber security I prefer to come to you and ask for help then come to you and say hey uh we have a problem and I need uh $4 million or something like that so this is to ensure that uh there are no holes in the firewall ensure that all the ports that are need to be closed are C are closed and that we keep on monitoring and enhancing the security and what is the um Omni A Partners under Cooperative pricing it's it's a kind of like a Consortium a state contract kind of thing so State contract yes so did this go out to bid no okay thank you why because it went through we purchased it through a co-op which they do the bidding for people that use the co-op to purchase things thank you I I don't know is that common in your department to to go with the co-op certain work yes because of the because of the expertise thank you all right uh board member marinaa yes uh the question is a question uh is to Alberto marshal or the person who can answer 2024 and we in the I'm sorry yes the question is for Alberto Marshal I know but I'm sorry board member is it pertaining to an item on the on the agenda oh no no you can ask that right okay thank thank you can we uh can I ask in private to you you can ask them in private absolutely okay thank you okay any other questions retaining to anything on the agenda mad president yes board member Jarry Jacobs I have a question for Madame superintendent but it uh can also be related relate back to the education management committee um Tab 7 page three for the contract with the College of New Jersey everyone can hear me f thank you yes I can um I hear so I guess my first question I think first I want to say that you know hold on just I want like you got to be like this closer to it please I don't want to move it I need you to move it please I got to talk loud how's that that's much better you want me to P project all right thank I want to move it um did we have this program last year and uh how many students have received credit um are the credits received transferable to other institutions um in which one and um what other uh College are we also doing college credit courses for I think Kane was one of them uh but I'm just interested and if you have any information available or no of at this time Madam superintendent um at this time I do not but I will certainly provide the board with a report uh we have uh five um active Partnerships uh that have been longstanding uh with the district uh this is our newest partnership that we're presenting this evening uh with the College of New Jersey um specifically in English literature and composition but I'll gladly provide an enrollment report as well as the universities that we are partnering with so as an example uh buwi Academy with the New Jersey City University correct um we have um NJIT with DWI Academy so I'll provide you a master list of the Partnerships and the number of kids that are children that are benefiting uh from dual enrollment so thank you uh Madam superintendent I guess also I'm interested in knowing as well um the requirements for the students to actually receive credit um do they have to pass the AP exam um to receive that credit as well as the cost associated with each program um but I also really want to point out the fact that we offer this service to our students that many other districts do not add again um that this is something that we take out of our budget to make sure that we provide every opportunity for our students to enter college on a basis and already received college credit and many of the districts are not as fortunate as we are to be able to provide this for all of our students so yes I'd be anxious to see that report coming out of Ed management thank you madam president absolutely any other questions or comments for tab seven award a contract report seeing none Mr candidate please add that to the agenda tab eight this time I'm going to have our student representative give her reports good evening Dr Hugo Board of Education and community members my name is Joselin haramu and I am proud to have been chosen as a student representative this school year for Johnny DWI discussions by promoting the notion that reading is a social activity no one reads alone encourages a collective exploration of ideas emotion and perspectives during the month of October we celebrated the week of respect which was student L students collaborated in creating bulletin boards in which students were able to display positive messages to promote kindness respect and acceptance the clubs and organizations available at to students at DWI like the Portuguese and Spanish Honor Society allow different opportunities to students to understand the importance of service learning and the importance of giving back to our community as president of the Portuguese and Spanish Honor Society I often help been organizing directing and implementing multiple events for example in October we wrote encouraging notes and letters for cancer patients at Trinitas we let them know that they are not alone in this difficult journey and to keep a positive mindset we received their response from trenita hospital expressing their sincere gratitude towards the DWI students for taking the time to write to patients during breast cancer awareness and for showing their support for Thanksgiving we are collecting non- perishable items for people in need in December we will visit the cancer unit at tritas to spread holiday cheer the multiple activities and opportunities for service learning at classes as well as creating a wonderful display of these activities in a bulletin board created by the Multicultural Club in all the high schools students are participating in activities to display their thankfulness for their peers members of the community offering to give back and spread kindness during this upcoming holiday season thank you for your time and consideration and for allowing me the opportunity to share the wonderful activities Elizabeth High School students are involved in thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak in front of you tonight as a DWI student who started ninth grade during the covid pandemic I was a shy student and also was grieving the loss of a dear family member transitioning to high school under these conditions can be intimidating for a teenager but luckily for me the support of all the teachers and staff members from my D family allowed me the opportunity to flourish and grow both academically and emotionally thank you thank you so much thank you for sharing your transparency about your personal life and also about everything that's going on um at your school and around um truly appreciate the no one eats alone as well as the letters that you wrote to the cancer patient so thank you for all that you do U for our students and also all you do for our community at this time I'm going to go on to our community our committee reports um at this time I'm going to ask our chairman for the negotiations committee to present the report as well as the same chairperson um to do the report for Finance and Accounting committee report I'm just going to ask that you skip the attendees and just do the report um at this time I'm going to have chairperson Jared Jacobs present both reports for negotiation as well as a finance and um accounting because I told them um when we started that I'm going to have them working because I want to make sure that we are negotiating on behalf of everyone uh to make sure that everyone has a fair process across the board so I do want to take the time to thank everyone who's on the negotiation committee I know um vaj is on the committee with us Mr Kennedy is on the Comm committee our superintendent is on a committee um and I think Frank is on our no no but I just want to thank our committee members of board members as well as our attorneys who sit on the on the negotiations committee I do have you work a lot but I appreciate all that you do to make sure that we are going to make sure we negotiate the best uh I guess the best thing for our um employees in our community so thank you thank you thank you at this time I'm going to move to tab nine claims list are there any questions for tab n claims list Madam president I have a few questions for tab nine yes uh if you can just give me the page number yes ma'am um oh boy page I think it's 11 let me just yes noit okay page six page six um Eastern Atlantic states Carpenters Pension funds Mr Kenny I think I ask you this every year when it comes up and every year I forget why do we pay pension those are um temporary um workers and we pay them um the base rate that the salary or the union requires but we also have to contribute to their retirement fund okay and that's what you tell me every year when I forget thank you thank you all right if we can move on Madam president to page 4 14 um I I see the the optimum light path I know what that is open systems um are these change orders or is this just part of their contract page 14 those are culmination of a pre-existing contracts and they've provided services and that's the payment against um the POS that have been set up so it's not a change order it's just it's just a payment against um a an existing contract all right and one more actually two more system electronic I've never seen them on our agenda before is that they're working in a school want to Che on that one I'm sorry I have to okay 18 right system Electronics actually does our fire alarms uh inspections understood one more one more two more actually United Sales USA I know we use USA Architects but what is United Sales USA Court supplies for plant property page page 19 I'm really I'm not sure I I know that we use USA general which is a roofing contractor and then we have USA Architects so this is United Sales it for next month if if you could it just it's it goes United Sales USA Corp then it breaks it's alphabetical order so then it's USA Architects and then it says USA Building Maintenance so the difference between United Sales Corp and USA building maintenance those are the the roofers those are the roofers so if if you can let me know what United Sales USA Corp is just for my curiosity and one more thing and I think this is for plant property I see that we're we're finally going to pay Marie Paving in concrete is that are his final payment for the work that they did it's a hefty no not not yet not yet that's page 24 so we're paying out they have they actually have two contracts of the high school one that was phase one and then the other was phase two and three what the payment that you seen they are scrolling for phase two and three phase one yeah all right Madame President can I um ask to um since I have the mic can I ask to go back to one of the award of contracts okay perfect that's it for me thank you any other questions for tab n thank you thank you any questions at the tab nine all right Mr Cy please add that to the agenda at this time are there any questions for Tab 10 through tab 10g for Resolutions Tab 10 to Tab 10 G for the resolutions any questions or comments Tab 10 or 10 Jun oh excuse me Tab 10 through 10 June I have a question for tab 10A sure the school bus evacuation drills um our bus drivers I'm assuming our bus AIDS they are all trained and if so when yes they are yes they are trained twice a year and uh they perform the evacuation drills at the schools do they get a certificate that they're trained or we just we check it off and we know I'm just saying because there's such a change we get so many new AIDS coming in and out how do we keep up with that no we once they are appointed or even if they're sub or appointed they get trained everything from the beginning before they they start working thank you any other questions for Tab 10 through Tab 10 G Madam president yes uh 10f and 10g I think this one Mr Kennedy Mr Kennedy I always wondered how does an employee um ask for payment for unused sick days or vacation days is it when they retire when they yes there's two two um things that generate well only one thing that generates payment for unused sick days that's when somebody retires if somebody resigns they and they have accumulated sick days they lose those days and then unused vacation days um what they're they're accumul ated days of when they leave but people that um both retire and resign have earned we earn our vacation days um as we go each year so when you come in the door as a new employee you have no vacation days you work a year and then you're allocated your vacation days and then um you don't lose them I'm sorry at the end of the year you don't lose your no you don't lose your vacation days you you've earned them and then when you believe if you have a balance of vacation days you get paid at your um daily rate thank you and they don't um they don't request them it's just a function of resignations and retirements okay thank you any other questions for t uh so resolutions 10 through 10g I yet Ard did you have another question you have a question nope no like would like to go back to one of the award I want to go back I have the I have the answer on United Sales oh well let me finish the resolution for this thank you why yall moving back and forth through the resolutions y know
