##VIDEO ID:LiVl4hfCJVs## just one question on the last part you you said that even if the recount doesn't change who was or wasn't elected we still have to rec canvas that because the numbers changing correct so we're going to do it tonight we got to do it again in our next meeting well if someone requests a recount oh okay yeah okay then and then once the recount is done if requested we would need to rec canvas if the numbers change from what all of the counties and the secretary state's office initially reported okay I have a question um if I recall Sherburn County also talked about paying for uh the areas that uh elections flipped with the that update that occurred Thursday night are you aware of that so um the county is choosing to do their own recounting for their purposes yep they've now done that that's my understanding from the county we now have their numbers and so anything that they would be paying for is on their end and it's voluntarily it or it's something that they're doing on their own has nothing to do with the district so the information I provided tonight deals specifically with now we've done this if a request is made we would be fully responsible no one else the counties the and the Secretary of State we would be responsible for all funds and that's the way the uh statute is written yeah I was at the canvasing committee meeting at one o'clock today at the government center and I don't if I recall I don't think they did the recount yet okay because they were talking about a manual hand recount which is going to take a little bit of time so there's three affected areas in Shor County 14b house district the Baldwin Township and then our district so I don't know what that would do to affect the cost yeah that that would have nothing it's a really good question that would have nothing to do with the cost because that's all the county so if a person after they do that after everything's finalized everyone in all the counties have canvased this is very specific to say if someone says yeah we know you did that we're going to request a recount and that recount is across all it's not just ac across one County and so then anything that they paid for on their own to see if they could make things right or or make sure that they had updated numbers would have no impact on the school district so if if they updated their accounts let's say their accounts happen to change would if I recall that would be uploaded to the Secretary of State so we don't use those numbers we use the numbers that they gave us that they have certified so we we've given we've been given those account those numbers so they're saying okay we know we had something happen right we're going to choose to do that wor in order for someone to be able to to get a recount we're using the numbers that they provided and the Secretary of State verified so we're getting those numbers they're providing them to us the board would be accepting those and then if there was a change we would need to do that but the questions around expenses if anyone requests and it falls under the public funded because of those the difference in the numbers we would be solely responsible and the county and the secretary state would have zero zero responsibility for paying for that gotta so the County's doing it for their misadministration and then we would do it because the numbers are so close if the candidates choose if it's requested by a particular candidate to do so in which case it would be my understanding it would be a separate recount requested which we would be solely responsible for paying so let me let me reiterate so um if a person were to request it whether it was close or whether it was long the school district would still be responsible for it doesn't matter the only thing that's different is because it's close between two candidates we would have to pay for it all if it was larger and not within the0 five they can request it but then they have to fund it oh okay it's not at the school district's expense okay that Mak Sense quick question um when When selecting those that would be involved or what's the process for selecting those that would be involved um namely um election judges yeah good question so we would be responsible for hiring all the election judges and the election judges have already been approved by the county so there are rules around what that looks like in terms of even bipartisan support and judges um and then in terms of uh the other things like the canvasing board we'd be responsible for it's pretty specific on who has to be involved with that for example a mayor has to be involved and you know those those types of things um so that's pretty specific and then the recount really uh from the Secretary of State's office is really about viewing the people that are in the room for it are the candidates for example and they have an opportunity to bring a person with them for example Etc so the school district would need to make it viewable for folks and it would be open to the public but the actual level of interaction with the candidates or the ballots would be limited yes so I would just um just kind of again uh throw it to the to the board in full trans transparency that if it were selected from an election judge standpoint though um a uh sitting person as as a seated person in any position could actually be an election judge a candidate cannot um I would ask that if anybody on this board is an election judge that they would not participate in the recount um just to ensure kind of third party Separation on that and if I recall the county will provide the facilities to do that it's up to the school district to arrange for and find the facilities the uh is in under no obligation to provide it but they may be willing to yes I talked to the County Administrator Bruce and he mentioned that we would they would Supply something for us if I was they would be they would be willing to supply something for us yep that's which was great to know any other questions or comments for Dr bitman thank you for explaining the process I think it was very helpful for everybody and it's it's it's so confusing with all the turmoil going on in the county right now I agree wonderful thank you Dr bitman we'll move on to Item B this evening Schoolboard member reports first up is the public comment report which we did not have public comment this evening so we will move to the project oversight report and I will turn it over to Doc uh director Anderson doctor I know it's it's contagious actually it was just Monday that's wrong but uh the facility projects were reviewed we had many projects going on throughout the district and a lot of projects are being completed the hanky project turned out to be a phenomenal success and we're very excited for students families and staff is this is often the first building they experience um the scope at atso changed somewhat due to uh unexpected findings we had a minor flooding that happened uh staff was amazing got things turned around and the project turned out well um at Rogers uh casework and cabinets are moving a little more slowly than we hope but the work is in progress minor close out work is still in progress uh Rogers High School stadium the weather slowed things down with all the rain but the quality of the Project's outstanding Zimmerman campus phase one is being wrapped up utilities uh work was a little more complex than people had thought but partnership proves to be valuable we are excited about the project which will provide a great experience for our students families in the community uh the district office we painting the conference room work turned out nicely and provide better support for our staff and our families here concrete work at prayview middle school is still in progress concrete contractors have been unresponsive to concerns and we're taking significant amount of staff time so we have staff and uh our contractors working on getting that resolved quickly the district team noted how proud they were to fund a playground replacement with District funds instead of relying on parent groups and families you know typically packs they also noted the excitement for making the playgrounds more accessible and friendly so they're going to be Ada uh director Weiss noted the city of Rogers is still discussing a second sheet of ice and their Turf project a number of important meetings are happening this week uh the district had committed money toward a locker room for IC 728 athletes as they did with the City of Elk River the committee also reviewed plan 2025 projects which include phase two of the zabie theater uh Rogers Elementary playground work um in uh interior Renovations at Rogers Middle School Twin Lakes vandenbberg and Westwood phase two of the Zimmerman campus and District WID sight maintenance the majority of bids for 2025 projects will occur in moment to celebrate one of our unsung heroes that works really hard on our elections because if you remember we celebrate we do elections in five counties so L chambers does a lot of work behind the scenes to make sure that these all go off without a hitch and she's going to have to probably do some more work in the future and because I have few opportunities where I'm going to be able to recognize and celebrate her she does a lot of work on behalf of the board and I will always be indebted to her for all the work that she has done for us and continues to do for us so it would give me great joy if we could just give her a round of applause for all of her work and [Applause] effort because she works tirelessly to make sure that things go off so smoothly and that without a hitch and she works really hard on behalf of the board and the district and that elections are hard to do and to make sure things go off well so thank you Miss Chambers we appreciate all that you do for us so
