other resources thank you thanks Sarah okay Mr mango all right thank you Mrs president and welcome everyone okay so welcome again and um for those of you who were here in December for the fall sports awards recognition I'm recognizing some faces um we're doing things a little bit differently and for any parents that are here for the first time to to uh celebrate their child's recognition we're doing things differently as you can see we have a little bit of a different setup our whole intention here as far as volume and speakers Everything Has Changed um what I'm going to do at this at this time is I will call up uh members of our faculty to recognize our student body parents you'll have an opportunity the end of each uh recognition to come up and take pictures of your children or take a picture with your child or both however you would like that what I am going to ask everybody to do is to please stay until our recognition portion of this meeting is over just to show you know uh continuity and solidarity here in KHS so that's the one request I do have at that time before my presentation goes on we'll have a fem minute recess everybody can run home and go home and enjoy their Tuesday night um like I know you want to and uh but I would ask that since we have such a big crowd that you please tomorrow or or Thursday or over the weekend or anytime you have some free time to go to the website and um review what is presented later tonight as far as the demographic study's concerned uh so before I call up Mr strad one last thing because it seems no matter where I go in town I'm ask the same question so we do have one day that's remaining as far as emergency use purpose now I Define emergency now in this era a little bit differently for everybody here that's maybe north of 50 when we were kids it was snow and it had to be a lot of snow wasn't anything else but times have changed so when we talk emergency we're talking water main breaks power outage gas leaks all the things that you know children in the 70s and 80s and early 90s never thought of or talked about well now they're live so we have one day left I'm really hopeful we have no more snow and it could stay out west if that be the case next month at our April public meeting we'll revise the calendar to reflect the give back day to be Friday May 24th Before Memorial Day so we would have that four-day window and then when we come back for Memorial Day you have three weeks so if you want I I I I'm not a meteorologist I'm not a scientist you know I can't predict weather or circumstance but if you want to start to make your plans or that changes something for you be my guest so uh Life's too short so at this time I do want to call up Mr shroud he'll kick off our student recognition for our KHS Wind Ensemble Mr shoud hey thank you so much everyone it's uh such a pleasure to be here um Sarah I wanted to say thank you to you for mentioning um the wind ensembl's performance last week at our region one concert band Festival I really appreciate you including that in your report um professionally one of the one of the best weeks of My Life um last week the kids were incredible on uh Thursday afternoon when we performed and um Pride uh just bursting from me like Thursday was definitely one of the best days ever here in my almost 20 years in kelan so um you know a huge amount of thanks to the parents and to the students uh who performed that day and the parents for you know I I always say just thank you for pushing your kids into music and keeping them there and um you know uh I was I'm just so grateful and uh so tonight uh we'd like to honor a few kids who have made some really really great individual St guides um this year in attaining um acceptance into our area region bands and orchestras and um the first person I'd like to call up is uh is Luke Isa where's Luke come on up so Luke what a job um kind of came to me unsure if he should audition for the uh intermediate region band and he decided he was going to go for it and um boy the amount of work that he put in over the next month to prepare himself for that audition um it was really really exceptional I got to work with a a bunch during lunch and we we kind of tweaked things and got things going and you know I was so proud of him that he made it because it's a really tough group to make um and and he was uh able to to join the intermediate region band he did a performance I think was it last weekend or two weekends ago two Sundays ago and um at Mount Olive middle school and um he he did a a really fantastic job the conductor of the band uh specifically told me he he did a really really excellent job so um Luke we're super proud of you congratulations and thank you so much for uh helping us all right the next person I'd like to call up is Mr Michael Piccolo so there's something in the water at PRM um because our our three freshmen that are going to be up here this this uh evening um they just knocked it out of the park in their auditions um Michael made the the region band the senior region band which is uh again a very very difficult Ensemble to make includes all the schools in northern New Jersey um over 80 different schools and all private schools and homeschooled students as well um over 600 kids audition for this band and about 80 to 90 make it um so a really really fantastic job Michael as a percussionist uh especially uh you know and incredible so Michael made the junior uh sorry Michael made the senior uh region band and Orchestra congratulations Micha and our ninth graders keep on coming with Luca anelo fiorina um again another another freshman um so this is kind of bizarre like having two freshman percussionists in the region band um has never happened in my 20 years here and in fact I can't ever remember having a freshman in the region band so having two in the same section uh Luca made the Wind Ensemble in the region band which is the the top tier group um I think he came in third overall and also made the uh first chair at the junior region um the senior region Orchestra I'm sorry there's so many Juniors and seniors and regions um but you know um this group of freshmen uh they represent a really really fantastic um building block for our future here music- wise in kelan high school I'm I'm just so incredibly proud of their hard work and their dedication to our program gentlemen I thank you so [Applause] much one more last but not least um Miss hope serenes hope come on up uh hope is a junior in our in our in our Wind Ensemble um she's been uh one of the the hardest working and um just she's an outstanding musician um it's been amazing to watch her grow over the last three years and turn into you know just a fantastic Young musician and hope um audition for the north Jersey area band which is also an incredibly competitive group uh over 500 kids auditioned over 85 flute players audition and hope was number one overall so please just um I can't thank you you all enough for your efforts for um doing kinan proud doing our school proud and uh representing us in a really really appropriate and fantastic manner in all the different uh bands that you performed in between you know December and U March and uh ju we're just so proud and very very lucky to have uh such wonderful kids' parents and uh and our school community board you know thank you I know you recognize some of these kids up here so wonderful thank you thank you parents would you be so kind as to come up and take some photos with your kids Mr eisener you don't have to go far yeah absolutely do you want a picture do you want to get in do you want a picture joh no no you don't want to getor that is a great way to start the night uh so thank you Mr strad and all here to support and uh at this time in case you haven't met him or in case you don't know him I'm going to call up our new athletic director Mr Andrew Rosado and uh this is his first time here up at the table so this is going to be good Mr Rosado come on up no pressure Mr mango thank you so much um and I'd first like to point out Mr Stroud has been here almost 20 years I've been here about 20 minutes um no it's been about I think five or six six weeks maybe a little more uh since I started and I'd just like to thank not only everyone in this room but the whole kinan Community for supporting uh not only my position and entering into the school district but also the athletic uh Department both at kinan high school and at PRM um and tonight I have the pleasure of introducing some of our coaches and I can see a lot of our players where we will recognize you not only for your postseason achievements but also uh even down to the middle school for some great seasons um and all the great things that you did throughout the winter um and we do have some coaches that unfortunately couldn't make it so I'll Stand in on their behalf but I will call up the coaches that are here um and we'd first uh I'll speak on behalf of Coach moo and Coach fin uh about our PRM volleyball players do we have anybody present from volleyball all right stand up come on up if you please so coach moo and F wanted me to share that the Middle School volleyball girls had both an A and B team because of the overwhelming numbers that they received each year and I think that's awesome to see uh grow into our High School uh where we also have a very successful team um it's one of the fastest growing and most successful Sports uh here in kinon to my understanding and uh it really starts with this young lady here and her her fellow teammates in the Middle School uh so for all our PRM athletes I think you should be really really proud that you are the foundation of of Kenan High School um and we'd love for all of our athletes at PRM to continue that tradition into the high school um coach Fin and moo enjoyed every practice and match uh they witnessed the girls all their hard work and Improvement and they want to say a special thank you and wish uh best of luck to the eighth graders um and continue to express uh a future success all right so let's give another round of applause we'll take a quick [Applause] picture [Applause] and uh coach fin is a very busy lady she also coached our girls basketball team uh do we have any PRM students for basketball present tonight if not it's okay um our basketball team from PRM uh had one of their best seasons in recent years uh the individuals showed significant Improvement uh they learned how to work hard work together and ultimately in basketball no punt intended work to the final buzzer uh they finished the season above 500 which is always a great thing to be proud of they won three of their last four games and the eighth grade group will certainly be missed um and we wish them the best of luck in the future let's give a round of applause for girls basketball and for PRM uh boys basketball I know coach Goff is here so please him and [Applause] any I'm gonna have some of the boys stand behind me so you could stare at them while I talk um first of all thank you everyone and board and uh the board and Mr mango Mr Rado for setting this up this is great great we used to do something this a long time ago um I remember doing it in PRM cafeteria so it's good that we're bringing this back it's a great chance especially for Middle School sports and I see a lot of familiar faces from the guys in high school um uh to to recognize Middle School sports was uh it's so important especially now in an environment when kids are going to different schools to really build the feeder program at this level um and in this great town and this great District to keep the kids and keep the talent here and and we see a lot of that with with the with the High School record so that's a great thing um it's do we have is it oh we have this up let's see what you're right okay we were really two and eight but I was trying to you know embellish a little bit better but that's okay because one of the first things these guys could attest is the first one of the first things I say to the team is I don't care about your record I want you to get better I want you to get your skills and you guys remember from when when I had you here too uh get better work on your skills and going into high school as freshman being able to contribute and if they're able to do that then I think we we we did our job winning is you know obviously a bonus as a perk but you know that's that's kind of the philosophy that at least I have and had over 16 years of doing this now coaching so um like I said we're two and four uh and the losses that we had were close I think the average was 8 to 10 I went back and I and I did the books um we had two scorers who scored over 100 points in the season which out of 10 11 games is is pretty good um we play at the middle school level we play a lot of higher grouped schools and we were competitive with them so um like I said if we're competitive and everyone's working hard uh and getting better each day than than we met our goals so we have Jacob and uh bod here seventh graders and uh we'll recognize them I guess for this thanks guys yeah okay so I just wanted to say one thing rounding up seventh grader uh Middle School boys is like hurting cats so this is I'm really happy with this [Applause] [Applause] uh and next up to the podium we have uh PRM wrestling we have Coach Ben catella and his assistant coach Dave [Applause] Jones so yeah I hear a lot of people about mentioning a lot of years uh I've been here a few years myself now um what's exciting about this is it is a good a great tradition that we brought back here um nothing's better to honor the kids that work so hard uh I know in our room uh we work we work really hard and sometimes I always tell people if it was easy everybody would do it so the people that do it are special people and talking about special people uh I'd like to thank Mr mango on the board for always putting this together I'd like to thank uh Andrew new to it and John B who kind of bridged a gap during our season helped out a lot and I'd like to thank all the parents cuz without them you know all the support that our kids get it's it's really great when you turn and you look and you see all the parents in the stands uh cheering on the kids we had a really good year this year we were eight and three uh to point you off what Mr Goff said yeah we do go against a lot of big schools not a lot of people have the Middle School sports so we go against a lot of big schools and we went toe-to-toe with pretty much every one of them and uh you know one thing that makes me proud is I always tell them how you walk on the mat is how you walk off the mat you know and all our boys did that you know they they they represented the community represented the school and four of them up here are my captains and there's a reason you know for that that because they took the team and they led by great examples and they're going to be hard to replace so as I have them I have Dominic Mal fatano who had an undefeated season unfortunately you know got a little got a little uh mishap in the counties but that's okay cuz I know the future is going to be real bright for him we have Roman Raco who placed fourth in the counties Dylan pets he plays third and Michael Marston was undefeated as well as taking first in the counties I think a lot of them can tell you and you know Coach Jones and I and you know I couldn't do a lot without Coach Jones the two of us were like jumping around like jumping beans on the mat all the time people always seem to take pictures of us it's kind of crazy video but you know they could say it all the time about you know certain things that build character and a lot of them have learned a lot of lessons already life lessons that are going to build character and help them in the future whatever they decide to do we know they're going to be successful because of how hard they work thank you very much send them to me parents come come here parents come here come with your children your children I need some empanadas do you need help just watch it Shine off my head there's always one person wor thank you everybody thank you let's give all our PRM athletes another round of applause thank you so much and now we're going to get into our our high school teams um and like I said some coaches couldn't be here tonight um and uh on behalf of our girls basketball coach coach Don the head coach uh I'm going to read a little bit and then if we have the girls present um that earned some postseason honors we'd love to call you up if you are here um and give you a nice round of applause so our girls team um this was I think the first team I came into contact with in terms of starting my position here um and it was amazing thing to see they I forget who they played against to be honest but they dominated the game and I was like this is a great start to my position here um and it was awesome to see that uh before I got here they were a strong team and they finished 14 and 12 which is something proud to be about uh doubling the wins from last season they played uh late in the season better than they did prior uh in the beginning of the season and they won six out of nine and that's pretty tough to do uh in any sport um and they secured a home state game which they if you look at the score says it itself but they dominated 61 to 29 9 um and I think that's something you could definitely be proud of uh regardless of how the rest of the the state tournament went and they Advanced to the quarterfinals and they emerged as the area's top three shooting teams leading our division in three-pointers made and ranked top five in moris County with 128 three-pointers made this season that that itself deserves a round of applause and we do have some postseason honor so this is when coaches uh gather around the league and they vote on uh special teams honorable mention second team and first team for different various uh areas uh so we'll we'd like to call out uh if you're here please come on up uh for our All Conference team we have honorable mention Sabrina avado for second Team all conference we have Samantha basson first team we have Kate [Applause] Donaldson and for our all count team honorable mention Kate Donaldson and one last thing Kate I'm going to surprise you with something here uh there's something called The Morris County Secondary Schools Athletic Director dor Association uh and each School a part of this Association is allowed to choose one uh male and female athlete and Kate you are our scholar athlete for this year so congratulations let's give our girls basketball team another round of applause okay I didn't know and now we have our KHS boys basketball team I believe I saw Coach Dave here uh so I'd like to call Coach Dave kessinger up to the [Applause] podium they look so tall okay um real quick I I want to thank some people um I have a little list here um obviously superintendent Mr mango and the Board of Ed I think this is a great event as my second one as the uh head coach principal suda um always supporting us always there for us um former coach Ayo he's always there for us as well um Mr Rosado the new D the former uh John byuk who helped us over the winter um our site manager Mr kapra he uh does an outstanding job uh making sure the games go uh the way they're supposed to go um our trainer Scott leer and last but not least Melanie Shuckers the director of recreation um we have to work closely with her uh for gym availability and so forth and she's really good at at uh working with us on that so anyways this year uh we uh won 11 games um we entered a new League this year last year we won our league so we when you win the league you get to move up to a tougher League which is fine and and the and so forth so this year here we got to play some really good teams Morris Catholic Han Park Madison and so forth and we uh we actually won two games in that League which was good been good we we won um be panic and we actually upset Hanover Park so at one point we were 3 and 11 we're eight games below 500 and we finished 11 and 15 so we won eight out of our last 12 we won the butler Christmas tournament um which was a good uh we play in The Butler Christmas tournament every uh winter break and that and that was a good win for us to win those two games um we won a county game again last two years we've won a first round County game this year as the 22 seed we upset the 11 seed need Roxberry in Roxberry so that was a big win for us as well and we won um a first round State game we upset North Warren as we were the 10 seed and we went to North Warren um in a very hostile environment I might add and we upset North Warren um to move on to the second round so those were some uh highlights of um our season and one of the important awards that we got is the coaches get together in our conference and they voted us uh for the team sportsmanship award which is really good okay so I have jce Marone in the middle Nick canado on the left and Dylan Charles on the right and I'll start with Jace he's a junior Jace Jace was second in the state of New Jersey in Block shots this [Music] year he was first in the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference and he was first in our conference in Block shots he averaged 10 points a game and seven rebounds never missed a game never missed a practice he's a very dedicated player plays year round and his progress from from freshman to sophomore and junior year has been incredible and so we get to bring Jace back for one more year which is great Dylan on the right our um one of our captains um last year Dylan was uh First Team all conference this year in the upper division Dylan earned second Team all conference he averaged 12 points a game six rebounds and four assists per game um one thing I want to say about Dylan is it's like in every good team you always have you know standout players and you know everybody contributes and everything Dylan is just that presence that's there every day in every game and last year nj.com awarded him he got in he got in an article big article as one of the states top unsung and underrated players in the state okay to me that would be like the big the best article I could get ever get in if I was a player because you're just doing exactly what you're supposed to to help your team you don't get you don't get all the accolades all the time but there are writers and people that know the sport of basketball and they recognize Dylan as one of those players that was so Key to Our Success both years and so forth um this year just last but not least and I'm sure a lot of the coaches know this too um Dylan had a play with an injury this year he never complained he did get healthier as the year went on but uh when you you know when you're a senior and you have all these high hopes for your year and you start off with an injury and everything but to Dylan's credit he never complained and he worked through it really well so that was good for Dylan okay uh last but not least uh senior captain and uh Nick was a captain as a junior as well he was our captain last year and he was and he was a captain with Dylan this year um this year Nick became um a thousand Point scorer which is a big deal in basketball he became a he became a th Point scorer even during the co years when we played 14 games as a freshman and 21 games as a sophomore in other words we didn't play full schedules so um it was quite an accomplishment and then this year um in the last game of his career he became the all-time leading scorer in kelon boys basketball history and as a as a junior he was the leading vote getter um in our conference last year we won the league Dylan was actually the second leading vote getter last year um when we won our conference his junior year Nick was third team All State okay for group one that's a big deal um there's a lot of group one schools in the state of New Jersey and Nick made Nick made third team last year this year it was just announced uh yesterday the day before Nick earned second Team all state group one he was first team all conference this year and another big deal is because he was third Team all County and for a group one school like kelan to put a uh player on an all count team in Morris County uh is really good and he was third team on that he averaged 21 points a game as a senior 19 points a game as a junior and uh had an unbelievable career uh basically um and Coach a Royo can probably attest to it um probably one of the greatest careers in in you know the school's basketball uh history so um both and Nick are on to college next year they're playing baseball right now so uh uh both amazing guys and uh we're going to miss them but that's it thank you just gonna add two quick things one that Nick knows about and another one that I don't think he knows about coincidentally both uh athletes are from our winter recognition Nick is representing our boys uh kinan High School representative for the Morris County athletic director's Association scholar athlete and although he does know about this part already he is uh our scholar athlete for the njs AA which is the governing Association for all of high school sports he is the kidan high school scholar athlete for that as well Beau not congratulations to you congrats good job my thank you and uh now we're going to move on to our hockey team which is actually a what we call a triop which is three uh school districts get together and form one team um known as a co-op team you'll often see that nj.com um and Coach myON couldn't be here tonight but I'm going to speak on behalf of our hockey team um first thing I think that stands out is they won the division called the howon division they won the championship not just last year but also this year so that's an amazing accomplishment uh they are back-to-back undefeated regular season division play at 16 and0 yep they are number R they're ranked number four in the State ranking for public co-ops which nowadays there are many co-ops because of the uh situation with hockey but um that is a a tremendous uh number to have in the state of New Jersey so that's deserves another round of applause um they also had two players earned third Team all state public Co-op the sportsmanship Awards goes to um our player Maddie um and the memorial award goes to Logan and then rookie of the year uh Terry Maguire and Memorial award Braden Cisco so give them a nice round of applause and it's unfortunate he couldn't be here to be recognized for this but coach uh Jeff Myron was awarded the Harvey Cohen Coach of the Year award and the uh the mcssl is the conference the the boys play in um and there are three first team players in this conference from KJS and one honorable mention uh in this conference from KJS and they also finished their season by making a state group semi-final appearance are there any hockey players here no all right and now we're going to move on to both girls and boys swimming let's give a nice round of applause for coach Brian bourman and Michelle [Applause] Cromwell okay all right so we have three girls here to be with us we have Charlotte we have Gian and we have Julia please give him a round of applause so like most coaches you know uh in this district there are some sports that we compete off campus so sometimes our accolades and performances go un notied sometimes so it's great to have this type of Celebration so I thank you bo uh board superintendent ad to celebrate our accomplishments this year for the boys team um individually they had a unbelievable year we graduated a bunch of seniors last year so it was tough as far as the team we ended up three and six but as far as individual Talent like to recognize um for honorable mention in the conference we have Kyle barsh for a second Team all conference in the 200 medley relay we had Johnny panick Ben panick AJ and David ztech and then we had a few first team all conferences for the 200 free relay we had Johnny panick Ben pck AJ Connelly and David Zoltek and then first team All Conference 53 so the fastest swimmer in the conference was Ben pinck and for those of you that know Ben papaik he he had a couple adversities throughout his high school career he had a few injuries I think he I think he broke his hip one year then he dislocated his shoulder the other year so he had some adversity uh D he overcome and his senior year he end up being the fastest swimmer in in the conference so he did an unbelievable job plus he was an unbelievable Captain senior for our team this year um his brother uh U Johnny pinck was also First Team all back and then we had David ztech being First Team all free so not only did we have the fastest 50 freestyler but the fastest 100 freestyler in the conference this year so congratulations to the boys team now on to the girls team I've been doing this now for uh 19 years we've had unbelievable teams throughout those years we've always had a uh well we live in a town with many lakes so we better have a good swim team right um but we' had really two big waves of teams that come through uh this town going back to 2010 through 2013 um we had swimmers that made uh the Olympic trials we had you know tons of girls that went D1 and they made it to the state finals that year and for the past two years our girls team has made it to the state finals and the best thing was we had those girls from 2011 texting us you know now they're married with kids texting us oh congratulations the girls team we can't wait watch them win go get Champs win States um so we we made it to the state championship uh two years in a row um we went against a power house out of South Jersey haddenfield this year haddenfield happen to have a freshman that you're going to see on TV in four years she she's already yeah she's already made Olympic trials at age 13 um she she has nine of the fastest times in the country at age 14 and so we went toe-to-toe against this team and went back and forth you know what are you going to do when you swim against a girl like that but the girls backtack State final appearances congratulations not only that but they are two t Time conference Champs and also two time State sectional Champions great job girl their combined record in the last two years is 24- two um unbelievable and nj.com ranked them as the 19th best team in the state no matter what group you're in group one two three or four they're the 19th best team in the state unbelievable so there's a lot of postseason Awards obviously we pretty much ran the show with the postseason Awards um and we have a few girls here that that won these Awards by the way Julia here won at our banquet most improved swimmer so great congratulations she's our 500 freestyler U we also have Gian here and Gian was the honorable mention for All Conference so congratulations and then we have have Charlotte here she was the second Team all conference 50 freestyler so the second fastest swimmer in the conference um we have the 200 medley relay was first team All Conference the 200 free relay was first team all conference and then as far as our individuals First Team all conference was Kylie Papik in the 53 100 fly was Anna Kil ponin 500 free was LA deeri and 100 breast was Zoe Davis um unbelievable right uh special note for Zoe Zoe we do this at our banquet but we this goes back to my college year swimmer swimming my college coachs not only recognize obviously those that won uh Records but also wanted to recognize those swimmers that showed throughout their four years within the program how many points uh they scored and contributed to the team so we started that here and kelan as a tradition and so we have Zoe Davies who is ranked number seventh all time for kelon swimming so I know she's not here today but we can give her a round of applause um and lastly again A lot of times it goes unnoticed but um those of you that know her know how great of a a swimmer she is an athlete um Anna kilponen this year won a whole bunch of awards not only All Conference but she was third team All State uh that just came out out and then also for the 100 fly for an individual event her time made her consideration uh for the top 100 swimmer in the country so in kinan right now we have someone that's considered top 100 in the country which is pretty pretty crazy so let's give Anna a round of applause and then also I totally forgot our assistant coach awesome uh coach Cromwell here she's been with me for many years in fact she was the head coach when I was the assistant coach going all all the way back 2003 2005 could not do this without harer please thank you coach cronwell all right thank you girls parents come up take pictures yes let's give another round of applause for both girls and boys [Applause] swimming uh for we have a a fencing team here at KHS which is kind of a unicorn across the State um it's becoming more popular but it's something that we'd like to continue the tradition here at at Kenan High School um and coach Mark and Coach Skyler did a wonderful job uh I unfortunately came in the latter part of the Season where I didn't get to witness a f fencing match um or duel but I would like to honor them by um giving a shout out to some of our our freshman and sophomores and other team uh uh athletes on the team that earned uh some of these uh accolades throughout the season so we have Dylan castalano Smith took first place Sam baldino took third and Holden wood took eighth place in the freshman sophomore tournament if we have any fencers and you hear your name you could come up um our boys epe took first overall in districts which uh consist of Logan sharbaugh Jason ostman and Cole prior this is the first time a KHS boys fency team has won a district title the boys team finished in third place and qualified for the team state championship for the first time ever and two of our student athletes Cole prior epe and Julia akman foil qualified for States and individual state championships and now I'd like to call up coach uh Cabella and uh please uh give them a nice round of applause for our KHS wrestling [Applause] team all right um first off thanks for having us uh this is a really cool event oh Karan you made it nice um it's a really cool event to recognize all the athletes so congratulations to all you guys in uh other sports um you could see there's a lot of things here for rest wrestling um first off our record 5 and 15 does not look very great but we really were what three four points away from being a nine to 11 team win uh 11 win team so uh we're we're right there and we wrestle a lot of tough competition so I'm excited about the future for that we finished second in our conference um we go wrestle in the Mars County tournament which is both team and individual so we had a finalist in Luke Batel and Wyatt Cisco took fourth uh we also finished what 11th out of 24 teams um in the county so that's always a positive finishing top half um in the districts we had three finalists Colin alteri took second Luke Batel took second and Wyatt Cisco took second um so all three Advanced to the region tournament um Luke Batel took sixth place um on the girls side now uh in the NJ Conference tournament because there is no County tournament Kayla Vasquez who couldn't be here tonight um she's training currently prepping for Lehigh University um she took first in the NJ tournament and Paulina took third in the NJ tournament um which is just a collection of all of those teams that we talk about so it's it's a lot bigger than just the county um in the girls Regional Kayla took first Paulina took fifth sixth they don't wrestle for that place but she was one match away from making the state tournament um going down to the state tournament Kayla once again again became a place winner taking second place and becoming a four-time kinan high school state place winner um Y in in our conference um so the conferences are a little bit smaller but it's really just based on head-to-head matchups and who wins so we had uh first team Colin Ali Luke Batel Wyatt Cisco Zack Nelson and Kayla Vasquez uh second team we had Steve malano Leo dimitriu and Jack Dodie honorable mention was Karan Hinton and Paulina sharova scor [Applause] Zava real quick special thanks you to uh Coach Jones I stole him for a little bit from the Middle School um so he was a huge help just having another set of eyes in the room um wrestling is not really the sport where you can just have one or two people but we made it we made it work and I'm so thankful to have uh Coach Jones help me out this [Applause] year let's give wrestling a nice round of applause one more time and now we'd like to call Coach CHS um and her winter track [Music] [Applause] athletes good to see you all right totally I have two minutes so um I first W to thank um coach Hall um he's my my co-head coach I couldn't do it without him he's done a great job these past two years uh he's a kelan alumni and he's really done a great job taking you know his experience and transla to the guys and um I actually had coaches come and say to me wow your your Sprints team is really looking good and that's all credit to him so thank you coach for that I'd like to also thank uh coach white who's our assistant coach um as well and um I also want to thank Mr mango and the board of ed for all that they do I'm going to just go through the KHS Administration also PRM administration because that's where I'm at and they always are very understanding of when I'm like running out the door um to get down here and uh the ads we've had this past uh winter season with Mr Dodie Mr byuk and now Mr Rosado have all been great and uh supporting us school nurse athletic trainer Mr kaer is in the waight room constantly always helping us out the KHS Administrative Assistant they are there all the time to give us whatever we need any questions um I know I'm going dentalist but honestly the bus drivers I love them they're awesome they're late with our if you don't know winter track is late we're home we're back at kelan when I say home at the high school like 11 12 sometimes so the bus drivers deserve a shout out on that the maintenance guys um the maintenance guys for letting us in the building most of the time you know when we're banging on the door and last but not least our parents obviously they're picking up they're supporting us at our meets um just like uh coach bourman was saying know we're never home right we're always away uh it's a nature of track especially winter track we're we're traveling at least probably an hour to to two depending on where we're going and uh you know the parents are there picking up and they're constantly supporting us in our program and our and their kids so I can't thank you know them enough for all they do through every season and I have a lot of the same parents every season so um you know becomes a little bit of a family so I really appreciate them um want to go on to some of our special honors um we had a great season last year again smaller in numbers but we had a great season we won sectionals again back toback last year we had uh you know Jack ahart who is a phenomenal runner for us who's now Notre Dame and you would think well I don't know if they're going to break any more records this year we had a really amazing year I don't know I don't know if we're going to win another State title on anything you know we'll see how it goes we got some talented kids but let's see how it goes because we had a great year last year well they did that um so our we had some school records for I want to shout to we uh we have Joseph Mendy who has the school record in triple jump for indoor okay he's going to get the outdoor one this year um I almost called you Cookie but uh Matt Krispy as I like to call him okay he's in long jump our school record Among Us others our 4x4 team broke the school record which we I wasn't the fact that that happened again from last year is awesome and our 4X two team broke the school record and uh they had a new event this year at one of our meets um and it was a 500 and our our will Portman he has our 500 record and um Ella has it for the girls so it's a new event that the uh they just put in this year so we'll see if they have it again next year and at we got the Harrison and Josh who's not here with us tonight he got third they got third at KY Rel in high jump which is again placing at counties as a small school is a big deal winter tracks a little different we don't have a conference you basically go around around different invitationals you compete at counties you compete at States um but all the other things are Invitational so I can't say we we don't have all conference in All Counties All County we do have but you if you get that in track it's it's rare so um but at the state level our boys 4X two team of Harrison uh cornette Joseph Mendy Matt crisper and jval Kang they won the group one state championship in the 4X two this year with which is give him a hand um they beat a lot of fast schools and I got a lot of comments that day that people were shocked that kelan won a 4X two for the state of New Jersey for group one that's all the schools in group one so that's a big deal um our boys SMR team which is a spint Sprint medal team okay they qualified and competed at Nationals Nike Nationals this year and they also took fourth at the state group meet and that is Harrison uh m as well and Matt and will ran our 800 leg on that um the boys took fifth overall to sectional meet the girls took 14th overall at the sectional meet and are at the sectional meet uh will Portman plays second in the 800 and I have to add he uh score he's he plays six that states as well unfortunately in track they only take top three to meet at Champs but he still was our our Medal winner at the state meet so I don't want to forget that way you ad mad at me um we had Alesia who couldn't be here she placed third in the 1600 at sectionals Matt he plays fourth in the 55 and the 400 at sectionals and he also was on the 4x4 team uh at sectionals as well that placed um third so Matt definitely had was our highest point scorer for our team at sectionals this year and um and sorry I'm missing something sorry John what you got second yeah that's why I have it and Joseph meny got second at the 55 I sorry in the in the sectional meet too sorry about that and then the the 4x4 te Matt uh Joseph Jay and will plac third of sectionals they also qualified for pen relays which is actually in the spring but you kind of have to qualify in the winter to get to it because they cut it off so we'll be going down to pen release at the end of April to race at pen relas which is a very prestigious meet um and one of the oldest meets uh in history of track and field and last but not least um there was triple jump at meita Champs and you had to be top 24 in the state to get a invite to jump and Joseph meny was our met Champs uh participant this year at the triple jump he got qualified he made it he went and he finished 12th overall in this entire state in triple jump this year no so overall we had a um a great season we're looking forward to a great spring season we're off to a good start um and these guys are all mine is Harry he you know he does baseball we'll keep him for next winter but again a great ad um I can't say enough about how hard they work and how hungry they are to constantly get better um and always looking being hey CHS we qualify for this or can we get this Mark and they're they're looking just as much as I am for different things um and they keep me my toes with stats and all that all the time so I'm really super proud of them uh as I know coach Hall is and uh we're excited to see what they do this spring so thank you good job guys she wants a picture of all right let's get the parents once again big round of applause for our winter track team all right I got too excited but we do have one more team here that um I saved for last and poor coach is sitting there with a sling on in his arm um but oh yeah now he he actually loves that so please let's calm down um so uh last but certainly not least is our KS bowling team um and I just want to give a big shout out to Mr Souls uh he was uh one of the first people uh that kind of welcomed me here to kinan uh in terms of you know outside of the admin office uh so he's been a great supporter here and uh I've had some awesome memories so far with uh joining the uh bowling banquet for Morris in Sussex County where I'm proud and I think we should all be proud as a community coach Souls was named the Morris County Bowlers coach of the year and as you could probably read on the slide I don't want to steal coach's Souls Thunder because he's probably got five pages ready for everyone um but I'd like to call up coach souls and our bowling [Applause] team I'll hold that for you Christian all right all right uh what a what a great event you know it's great to recognize the um all the athletes in the room congratulations to everybody um but before I uh want to start talking about our team uh I'd like to personally thank Mr mango and the board of education for their support and efforts in getting Kenan High School bowling recognized as a sport by the board last year thank you very much to the board and as a thank you we would like to present Mr manga with an official cable team jacket thank you very much okay thank you you got it and and the state uh Champion uh certificate also all right just a short three years ago Kenan bowling hadn't been an existence since 1980 through the help of the Sanic family mayor Jim Freda and the interest and tremendous efforts of a great group of young men behind me uh Kenan bowan which we like to call K is now the number one group one bowling team in the entire state of New Jersey as a team we ended up ranked number 13 overall in the nj.com rankings of all schools in New Jersey okay uh this is a tremendous feat for such a newly formed team um as a coach I'm blessed with a a great group of young men competitors a bunch of kids who many many struggled to keep the ball in the lane consistently the first season uh when I think of our team I think of one of my favorite movies growing up the Bad News Bears um please don't take this as a slate to these guys um in that movie there was a ragtag group of kids who really didn't have the ability to compete in the game they chose um they weren't the best athletes but they had something that you need to be Champions desire and you can't teacher or coach desire that comes from the heart and boy did we find out that we were a small team but we have some big hearts uh they chose to work on their games they saw what hard work and perseverance can do and I can't begin to tell you how proud I am at this team um it took a total team effort to achieve what we did this year and it really was a magical ride that I as a coach will never forget so um let's just talk about we have Zack Kesler we have Preston we have terang Scott Sanic Christian um what's your name pratique we have the our super freshman twins Michael and John spra Luca Nasty Nate Eisen manger and CP Cooper kapan all right so along with the state sectional and group Team Championships individually our players achiev many awards and I'd like to mention them at this time so um Nate Eisen manger honorable mention all conference Cooper Kaplan honoral Benin all Morris County Michael spra second Team all conference honorable mention all Morris County John sprig third Team all state group one second Team all County second Team all [Applause] conference and the coaches dream Scott Sanic First Team all state group one first team All County and First Team all conference Scott I'd like to thank Mr Rosado for all his help um you know since he's been here um I really think that you know they made a great great choice with this guy I can I've been here a long time been here 28 years and um this guy's Aces he's going to be okay um thank you all for this recognition and um have a great [Applause] night that's [Applause] you want to take a picture of Mom while our Bowlers are are taking their pictures um coach Souls did an awesome thing and gathered the bowling team and some of our students are taking home a replica trophy of our state championship win and um that real trophy we have in uh the high school will be placed um in in our trophy case along with all of our other accomplishments this winter season Nate Nate you're being called um and just one one last thing before I'm done because I know people want to go home and I'm sorry um I just want to give a shout out to our board to Mr mango to all the uh administrators here at the high school and PRM uh without your support of the Athletics I don't think we would be where we are and uh he's not here today but I think we all know Mr cpra is like the the muscles behind everything I learned that very quickly here in kelan uh so big shout out to him and I just want to thank everybody for this evening thank you so much okay we're going to go ahead and take a quick recess um we are going to be discussing the demographic study if anybody is interested but for everybody else have a good night e e e e e e e e e okay we're going to go ahead and get started with the rest of the meeting there's one thing I remember was it two concerts ago you asked me what was one thing I could change and I just got a detention for being too late so I could okay Mr mango you're up with the demographic study okay here comes the fun and it's um everybody left doesn't really want to watch Riv Stu to let know we're going to be a little bit later 8: okay yeah more towards nine okay so um oh boy all right this will be good I I'm GNA try not to bore everybody I know that the room emptied out pretty quick so um as everybody knows one of the three board goals for the 2324 year was to conduct the demographic study so we did that we followed that process and um we hired um statistical forecasting LLC in November they conducted their demographic study in February early March and then they put all their information together now having done this several times in other districts um you have to look for particulars and that comes with experience so I tried to make this presentation not only broad stroke but tie it into everything that's relative to our district and our community right now so uh this will be on the website tomorrow we also have the full demographic study that'll be up on the website for anybody who actually wants to read it and they'll Vin Page by page so um as a shared statistical forecasting came in they did their demo study for our district and basically when you do a demographic study it's about it's about numbers where if you do a referendum it's about money so it kind of goes hand in hand and a lot of times it's just a good practice every four to six years for school districts to do that I found it to be very beneficial um and something that we we look to do which we did and within they analyze Trends they look at enrollment uh housing impact and building capacities so the enrollment Trends here in kelon have declined drastically since 1415 so from the 145 school year to 23 24 your grade configurations have dropped dropped but your budget has expanded um during that time frame we've been living in the era of since govern former Governor Christie the 2% cap the last time you had an opportunity to vote for more than 2% unless you were a board of ed that chose to go out to the April vote uh was the uh 910 school year so our current enrollment is 1,643 which makes us a very small group one school in the state of New Jersey group one school district the notable declines at this time are on PRM they're down 130 students Kenan High School's down 149 and the prek fivs have increased that's something they found and I'll go through all the scales with you since 2122 but are still 72 Below in total since the 145 school year and now what you see here is our district enrollment year-over-year and you could tell where the drops are you see that with your own eyes I don't have to uh do math with you and last year I don't I think it was sometime in the winter um in an admin meeting during the day I remember looking at then interim director of curriculum Mrs Mahal I said wait a second we were looking at um our scores njsla and she pulled back Mrs mahalan pulled back some of the sizes said the high school a couple years with those numbers we're going to be under 500 students that is a small group one school in the state of New Jersey that's small so that's something you always have to consider and you see that's the that's the balancing act for Boards of Ed for central office for school districts is when you have dropping numbers even if then eventually they steady and you're small you still have to work within the framework and parameter of a 2% cap when everything else increases so that means in your Collective bar marting that means in your facilities that means everything that you're doing you have to be very advantageous and creative so we see a little bit of a trend now birth counts in kinon between 2009 21 that was the projection and in 2021 and I highlighted it in red we had 92 births in kinon which are 30 more than historical high of 62 and 09 at that time frame when this started and now here is the data you could see it you could see an uptick in the birth rate from 2017 nothing huge but there's an uptick it's there there's a consistent flow with 92 in 2021 and that was on the the backside of the covid year of 20120 and to where we are now new housing and home sales well we have the the henac so we're very limited in the housing that we can build I can tell you that the houses here go go very quickly we know that especially if Priced Right so they're up and they're gone quickly and usually it's for families moving here for our school district and for the community um but there is and this is something we always have to consider and take into consideration greatly when we're managing our budget and balancing finances almost half of our community believe it or not are empty nesters so they're paying a very high tax rate living here with no children in our district so you have to always take that into consideration there are no residential developments but as we learned in our community relations committee meeting I believe the first week of February which seems like a lifetime ago um well before I get there just home sales just some home sales data we didn't have data for 22 and 23 but you can see again in 2020 leading into 21 between the birth rates and the homes home sales for our community so it shows you a trend of families their children they come through they graduate year or two later they move out a new family comes in so we don't have that issue our homes are constantly filled but that's where you have that balance of where we are and without extended building and without multi-level homes you're not going to have a huge influx until building projects so at the community relations committee meeting in February we were informed um by the mayor mayor Freda that there were three possible building projects in town um one is the kelon mall property and uh that's supposed to be on top of or outside of and again those questions are really geared more for the municipal not so much for us but at the end of the day the Builder is allowed to construct 72 units if that ever comes to fruition I can also tell you in my trial you can talk building projects till you're blow in the face until it actually happens that's when it starts that's when the bell rings so it doesn't happen overnight and you know plans get stuck or specs get lost or taxes go up or whatever it may be so it's not that we're ringing a bell to be nervous but you just have to be aware and then property that I didn't even know was kelon behind Bed Bath and Beyond there's a range of issues varying with this property and and um it's being sold to our community right now as a 55 and older all of them would be Pilots which means that you know the district wouldn't benefit from any of the finances but we'd have to incur any you know whether it's busing transportation students population what does that mean for Staffing but right now that that's those two projects that's where they are just on paper but I think it's important to bring awareness to the community now the third I was actually my office was contacted by preferred planning LLC and it's the old movie theater behind the gym and um it's vacant and what they're looking to do is have 20 Apartments 17 one-bedrooms two two-bedrooms and one three-bedroom I asked some questions you know are you going to use the Rucker study which I'm not a fan of the Rucker study I I think their numbers are always skewed and it always is in favor of the Builder and the contractor and not the community in the school district with their with their numbers and I also Co showed us one thing you could say you have a one-bedroom apartment one-bedroom condo a one-bedroom home you know how many people could fit so that's and listen once we have families our job my job is to educate so I don't get caught up in all of this but this one seems to be moving is this a pilot also I that I don't know okay that I don't know but I do know that that this contract ctor contacted me we had a back and forth about numbers they also wanted to know about how many families were in other areas with with busing because again this then impacts our busing so um again and also Builders at the end with municipalities do have the right to change so what may lay out originally as you know one bedrooms or two bedrooms or three bedrooms no matter the unit all of a sudden that could change as well so you never really know until the end but again that's not our issue our issue is educating our students once they're here that's it so um these are just some three things to these are three areas to consider when we're looking at a demographic study just have to keep that in the back of our mind so here comes the numbers that everybody wants to know well what about the projections so this uh this demographic study projected from 2425 from next year until 2829 and they used two different sets of projections on four and fiveyear historical enrollments honestly they were almost deadlock so that was pretty good that was pretty accurate but sometimes they're not as accurate and again only in my experiences when you do a demographic study like this and they tell you here's where you're trending based on all your birth rates and your home sales and X Y and Z they're they're usually they're in that ballpark and then it's just year over-ear you you follow it and you count the numbers so projection won Total student enrollment for the 28 29 school year so now we're looking out five years would be somewhere in a range of 1,755 so K12 that's a gain of 112 students that's not so bad so on average you're looking at 10 students per grade level if you wanted to look at it that way projection two for 2829 is 1727 or total gain of 84 students now again this is not counting in any building projects this is just birth rates home sales kindergarten numbers so on and so forth enroll now we break this down further projections by school so the pre- of five and and again I I think um I like separate entities and I like identity you know K School Stony Brook School I like that I look at it though K5 two separate buildings two two different worlds but it's K5 that's the elementary for the township okay and you're looking at 27 28 and 28 29 anywhere between 101 or 120 students on the increase for PRM you're looking at 46 or 37 on those averages but the funny thing is and again this goes back to what I had said originally it's the balancing act because in the 28 29 year you're going to have 47 four students projected in kelan high school by our current numbers that's 50 less than 54 less than where we are now so then it becomes the plight of the board and my office is how do we manage facilities Personnel upgrades resources finances in a high school that has under 500 you don't want to cut too much you don't want to lose too much but you also can't overgo while you're balancing the underneath that might be growing so it's not DEFCON 5 but the numbers are the numbers so building capacity and and SE seating Surplus here's some good news our seating Surplus we have plenty of space plenty of space so when you look on that Row Elementary prek 5 the capacity in total for Keel uh not ke yes Keel and um Stonybrook is 900 17 we have 9117 seats before we'd have to actually look to to expand or do something else our current enrollment right now is 736 so that's a plus 181 so even if these numbers are accurate and even if something was built in the next couple years we're still doing okay we're we're okay the enrollment projection for 2829 is 856 so we're still plus 61 up between the two buildings and sometimes what that means and I'll be very Frank and I know staff is very territorial of their offices or things that become offices and closets and rooms and I can't travel and all that good stuff guess what when you start maxing out everything's on a table because the space is the space and the demographic study shows it as such so might mean some rooms have to be you know repurposed that's what it means as time goes on it doesn't mean necessarily we're ringing the bell to have you know uh learning Cottages or or um trailers or expansion you don't get there until your numbers exceed and you know that they're exceeding then you have to you have to look at that uh PRM capacities 539 our current enrollment today is 379 that's plus 160 and then the projected enrollment for 28 29 is 425 you still have 114 empty seats so space is not an issue and then when you look at the high school the numbers they are where they are and that will be the lightning rod in the next five years this High School this very building Staffing Resources programs everything goes up but if your numbers are dropping you can't be taxing at the 2% or more over the levy and maintaining these things you have to be a little bit more selective in what we do and how we operate and I do believe that we've done some of that already more to come in next month's budget so here are the actual projections for you you could see it in a foure or five year and like I'd share it at the onset pretty pretty close just gives you an idea of what we would be looking at so in the end what is does all this mean and um you know you have we wanted information we looked for information we have the information so now how do we use it to our you know to our benefit and with purpose so our longrange facility plan has a districtwide capacity I said this earlier of 2,229 seats we have space okay we have space based on this demographic study forget the unknowns we have space plenty of it um we have the space in the ability to maintain our programs and occupancy but I can't emphasize enough the high school going down in numbers because the cost goes up and that's the juggling act while the elementaries Go On The Rise where we might need to hire an additional teacher here or there across or we might need a special needs teacher we might need a certain program you don't know what you need until you need it and that's also why we're looking at maximizing staff in the k8s with certifications and you know I'd even share it and Mrs suin here you know look if if folks within the the bargaining unit are going to go for master's degrees go for it in something where you could get another C because that's where people are optimal you could be multifaceted so um the wild card is the building projects that is the wild card here all of their intent purposes that's the wild card so our challenges is the annual sustainability of the budget the implementation of a this is where it comes together multi-tiered facility upgrade approach balancing financials and contracts when negotiating with the Kaa Kaa and central office right we want to maximize everybody's certification for dual purpose and we want to maintain commitment to our objectives within the 5year Strategic action plan which will be up for board approval in June so it's a lot it's good stuff this is work and this is where you want to be you need to know the information we can't you know we don't live in a vacuum we don't live in a shell we don't duck our heads here's the information now we have to do it and we have to manage it and every budget every request everything we do will be focused on finances based on every report we have on our numbers for sustainability and that's in very broad stroke but very deep our demographic study does anybody uh any members of our board anybody out in um cyber J or any members of the public anybody have any questions about anything while I'm standing here I'd be happy to answer them no okay thanks Mr mango you got it okay we have committee reports um I'll take uh Finance of facilities we did meet on the 19th of March uh we discussed mostly budget and capital projects um and how they're dovetailing together we reviewed um some different um quotes for security um some uh a summers project list from buildings and grounds and we also looked at uh a quote for HVAC unit on ke because that needs to be replaced um and we're starting to look at purchase orders for the um phase two of the techn uh Tech upgrades the uh committee does recommend the approval of the uh Ed data for Supply purchases um and those details were in my minutes and other than that we talked about just other stuff that was um um that everybody talked about which was one of the big ones was the KHS delayed opening for uh njs laas which um I'm sure Kelly will address in her briefing and that was uh it was a long meeting because of a lot of budget stuff but it's pretty much it personel negotiations Mike so we had a pretty long meeting as well but it was simple we spent most of the time reviewing the the non-tenured list with each of the principles from each of the schools um so if anybody has any questions about that the list was in the um committee um agendas so you can click on you can see that list if you have any questions probably the best place to go is Dave with those um or one of the members of the committee so that was I mean we went through like a lot of the standard items that everybody went through in all our committee meetings but that was pretty much what we talked about thanks Ed committee um the education committee met um it was a pretty brief meeting especially for us we had uh some stuff going on that night afterwards we had a meet a meeting that we had to attend to so we talked about the possibility of a new PRM schedule that uh Mrs tretta worked really hard with Mr mongan to put together and um it it sounded really exciting there were a lot of challenges that they had to meet in order to get this schedule to work and you know they really did a lot of work and and were able to kind of check every box so that was something that we were excited to learn more about kind of give the kids a little bit more option and uh you know choice in their day which we think is great um we talked about you know moving around the co- teing options for Keel or you know how to support each classroom a little bit better next year um we're excited about the new kindergarten screener that's going to be started this year for the first time um and as April comes up we're heading into testing so there's a lot of kids that have to test and we talked about you know the the possibility if those kids were able to test first thing in the morning um everybody could go in on the bus and then the kids that weren't testing could have a study hall or if the children the students were able to get a ride in could come in a little and they weren't testing could come in a little bit later um so we talked about different ways to kind of flip-flop that and kind of make it work for the staff and for the students um we talked about um you know Mrs Thomas and Mrs tretta are so committed to our students that they're actually um imple not only implemented a program to help the K kids before school with extra help with math they're teaching it so it was just really exciting to hear about that and um they just loved connecting with the kids um and they talked about the possibility of tiering our goal program and having um one of the tiers meet during the day uh which would be kind of exciting uh so we'll see what happens with that but all in all it was a great meeting thank you okay excellent policy um we met and um there were a lot of um recommendations from Strauss Esme that we discussed some of it was just small word changes and then some of it was actually cleaning it up taking it from being so specific and making it a little bit broader we also discussed the um policy for um KHS honor rooll and PRM honor rooll talked about some of the different standards um to be met that's on the um agenda for first reading and then um just reviewing the booster club like we had said in the past meeting to change the um oversight by the central office or superintendent okay great thanks uh delegates does anybody have anything to report for the delegates Mike New Jersey uh Morris County anything there was not a regular meeting it was the oh right that's right yeah uh legislative rep anything no um Education Services Kelly anything where they met there was a meeting it was on March 15th it was very brief only about 30 minutes they talked a lot about Personnel um but it was interesting the next meeting's in June Jen community relations we didn't meet the next meeting will be in May okay um k anything Carl uh there was a meeting scheduled for today but it was canel due to the lack of forum so they're going to schedule a followup okay and uh I know KF we're still really have anything on that yet okay petitions and hearings of citizens on agenda items does anybody have anything anything online no anyone nope okay all right uh now we're going to agenda items uh I'd like to make a motion to approve the agenda items a through d as a block can I have a motion motion to approve a through D second okay and uh so we'll open up all agenda items a through D for discussion does have anybody have any questions on any of them so again we're voting as a block now so this is discussion for anything on any committee or committee any action item anything that we have to vote on I had a question on the Ed committee um Fahrenheit 451 8th grade English is that all eighth grade English or certain sections of it anybody else no okay M franccesco can you pull the board Please Mr Eiser yes Mrs Leonard yes Mr Myers yes Mrs Pella yes Mrs Portman yes Mr Petrelli yes Mrs Donaldson yes okay so Committee of the whole uh we have nothing for committee of the whole unfinished business does anybody have any unfinished business nope new business no new business correspondents do we have any correspondents Miss Francisco anything online emails or anything nope petitions and hearings of citizens for non-agenda items nope okay uh board members comments Kelly you want to go first um sure um it's been a very long night so I want to thank everybody for their patience um but it it really is so exciting to see the looks on the those kids faces um just as like a parent that's been in the community for a long time is you know sometimes it takes these kids a really long time to figure out you know what makes them shine or really what their passion is but man once they get a hold of it in high school and you know Pearl Miller these kids they just do amazing things and I've said it before but I'm going to keep saying it for such a small District it's just amazing how much our kids accomplish and it's amazing the talent that we have here so just all the accolades to these athletes to the coaches to the parents that keep filling the water bottles and driving them again and again I I just love it I love I love you know just seeing how much our kids shine um I saw the Shrek play a couple weeks ago now but it it was phenomenal um I I was really Blown Away by it it was super funny and some kids that you really just wouldn't even expect to be up there were just up there and just filled the stage with their great personality so that was fantastic um so we just have a lot of amazing things going on on I'm excited for spring to be coming soon have a good night everybody yeah we got a tease of it the other last week Jonathan you no Jen no Dana just congratulations congratulations to the the musicians and the athletes and their families and also just to say thank you um to Mr mango for the planning the focus I think uh as we sort of reorganize planning for the future for the district for the for the students um and their families and all of the um all of the community of kenalan so I think it's it's a lot of work I think it's you know some some of it is is difficult to think that far ahead and look at big numbers but I think it's in the best interest so thank you Carl I'll just say that my son loved Destination Imagination that's it his group one by the way his age group he was the only group in that age group but that's irrelevant we still won I just want to say pleas irrelevant still you got to take what you can get right no one else showed up not not his fault so all good things Mike um I will just say congratulations obviously to all the kids here as well um you I wanted to kind of bring back the music I know the music kind of started at the beginning and and maybe got a little bit lost but um attended the the concert before they competed the day before just always kind of amazed that you know how well our musicians do again for a small school I missed the play unfortunately but um same there I I think you know for a small school I think we do a really nice job thank you to Mr strad and the music department for all their work so just to recognize behind the scenes folks um who do that Mr Rosado thank you for coming and stepping in to the job new and doing a very nice job tonight and um and kind of helping to organize the recognition of everybody so um I think that's it thanks okay I just wanted to recognize our hsas for just some of the amazing things that they are helping our school with some things like sweetheart dance which I'm so excited that we're bringing that down to the elementary school especially um for the Stony Brook kids we are they I think they are actually mature enough to handle something like that so it's awesome um PR mhsa with the teen cantens author days they're doing down at ke and of course I know they're very involved I help that at The Snack Shack so um at the high school as well and I really do love that we um kind of started including PRM Sports because I think that recognition is really important to feed the numbers up at the high school so that's a really thank you Mr Rosado for um highlighting that um this last recognition Evolution and uh once again my board members for all their hard work and the many committee meetings we have and the staff the administration and the staff staff that are always there you guys answer all our questions and get us all the information and we really appreciate it and also to Matt and Jay for making sure the mics work so thank you both um yeah so other than that can I have a motion to adjourn motion second sorry oh yes thank you thank you motion to go second and we um that we will be taking action in executive so that it may be maybe well it depends on what we decide okay um so all in favor of going into executive session please say I I
