in progress um smoke detectors are still available to homeowners just need to call their office um they had their annual banquet um on March 16th and um they presented a lot of different Awards uh I won't name them all but I W name a couple of notable ones they presented a 75 years service award to Richard McBride senior uh obviously he's not riding a fire truck anymore but he's still active the organization I think that's pretty incredible also the officer of the year award went to firefighter Steven BMS firefighter of the year to Mark Wells and calls for 23 2023 was great Wells and uh next Fire Commission meeting Monday ail 15 7:30 p.m. Firehouse at 801 Scott which is Scott that's all I have for you thank thank mayor L World library for March there's 15 new members right now going one policing 99 traffic enforcement stop 109 criminal complaints issued by officers 39 traffic summons issued by officers 55 criminal complaints issued by citizens 53 traffic summons issued by citizens zero detective bureau investigations 46 submitted by Chief McCarthy uh lall Public Works um tons of trash collected 766 tons of cycling were collected 6874 residents assistance bulk items collected 248 scrap metal picked up 52 concrete picked up one stumps and logs picked up two number of accidents none number of injuries none for the sewer service calls 41 stoppages 12 main stoppages three emergency calls nine markouts none home station repairs 14 trouble areas jetted zero home stations VOR two for Laurel Springs we had three service three service calls three stoppages no emergencies and zero markouts also if anybody noticed that our lobby we have vaa boxes um I've been working with boa to try to get boxes for to collect um travel size items for the homeless we have one here we're putting one actually I put one in the police department today and there's one in the library um we're going to try to get these filled up our police work very closely with the boa um to help the homeless in our area and to help get them help um and they asked us if we could help collect these things and help them to support the homeless so we have these there and we're asking if everybody can help contribute to these boxes that would be wonderful um we're also going to put it on the website and in the newsletter and the police will also broadcast it through their system also any travel size things um anything any travel toiletries toiletries um socks underwear female products anything that anybody can use um just what they're just asking for everything there is um on the box itself there's a list and we're going to have that list also listed on the website on items that can be put in there um I just want to comment a little bit on when Public Works there's a lot of stuff on social media regarding our Public Works um how clementin have this community clean up day why don't we do this our community we have bulk pick up you call up they pick up your stuff every Monday There's grass clippings picked up um you have you have your green cans they get picked up every week every every Monday if you need heavy stumps picked up that's done once a month if the guys can't lift it they're going to leave it there and they will come back on the regular scheduled day to pick up your heavy stuff stumps your branches your leaves that's picked up on your regular day for pickups um there's comments of having a cleanup day we have a dumpster at Public Works that if you have stuff that you need picked up you call out on Thursdays is your bulk pickup they come pick up whatever you need if you have a vehicle and you want to go to public works and drop it off you're more than welcome to drop it off it is covered up you have to get in they have to let you in it's not just something that's open to the public for you to go and drop off um for environmental reasons Craig is very into the environmental and safety and the laws and it has to be covered at all times so it's not open to the public to where you can just go do what you want to do um no contractors you cannot put any contractor stuff in the dumpsters you know we have a lot of flippers in this town you can't put your stuff in his dumpster over there like that that's not what it's for it's for to Residents um your your backyard stuff like you have you know collection of stuff in your yard that's what that's what the Thursday bulk pickup is if you have something that you need pi St right you put a u column up you schedule it I go online and schedule mine and then I get an email back saying we got it and you know your dat is set to pick up your stuff so there isn't an issue with anything like that um I just know that right now there's a lot going on being said about our Public Works and our town not providing these clean up days um Trevor does a community's clean up which Craig gets involved and I mean that's done through clean communities that's grant money where you know he helps Trevor do all that that's clean communities where whatever clementin is saying over there with clean communities I think they're thinking of some you know it's two different things going on but you know we don't have no you know anybody shouldn't have an issue with getting stuff picked up at your house it's an issue it is's the issue because you're only allowed to have one we're not open to the public yet sorry doesn't matter but you whatever it just just keep in mind that we do a lot in this town for and Craig does a lot in this town to help clean up and get things picked up when things need to be picked up for people to be bashing our town on social media but that that's all that I have thank you okay uh a few things from our Code Enforcement office our report uh for the prior month we had 90 Co inspections 17 smoke inspections 97 violations down9 violations written 104 abatements three tickets written 588 yearly rental inspections 10 yearly reinspection five foreclosures and 37 resident Communications um we are in the process or I'm in the process of working with the surrogates Department we are looking to bring uh some seminars into lynen wal um probably um in the latter part of spring early uh summer on uh poas a power turning writing and living wills also wills it will not be a will clinic this will be a um an information uh seminar that we'll be doing in conjunction with the service department there will also be information about um areas in the county that offer free will uh writing um for our residents so more to come about that in the early stages of putting that together now our newsletter is scheduled to be out uh sometime before Memorial Day um probably the week before Memorial Day so please H out for that want to remind everyone of day and Earth day this month um and one thing I would like to say about the planet I noed that there are some people in this community and they're mostly new people that are moving in that are burning uh leaves and uh shrubs and old trees that they tear down I just want to remind every everyone that burning is illegal you're not supposed to burn uh vegetation and it's also very dangerous you can set your house and other people's house on fire as well so um as Linda was saying there are ways to get rid of this vegetation um this is not um 1922 where you have to burn uh old trees and and leaves and things like that it's very unhealthy for the environment as well so um I ask you if you are doing that to please stop and uh contact our public works department if you have invitation and things to be removed and that's it thank you m May thank you Mar know also that we also have a street sweeper too and a lot of communities still have that that's one of the really nice things I better for me thank you I forgot about that yeah and yeah they do a good job too um the school school play is uh tomorrow Thursday Friday and Saturday tomorrow Friday at 7 and uh Saturday's from 1 at 1:00 and at 7:00 it's uh the name of the place from 9 to5 every famil with that um it sounds like it's really going to be funny you know they're keeping it real Qui I haven't seen anything they're keeping it us so it's probably going to be a good time also if you happen to go you know stop by buy one of the kids they have these little bags for like $5 hour and give it to your favorite actor and stuff like that so uh the Early Learning Center is on schedule uh still erection the major part of it will be done by next Thursday and then you'll be start seeing a lot more contractors down there so it's going to it's going to get pretty busy that's all I thank you Mr Mayor God bless good evening I have two um requests from organization so the events that I'm going to discuss are actually Affiliated but I am more information you can contact Veronica hery or you can just give me a call and I'll can relate any mtion I have thank you m thank you Jacks thank you mayor I just want to bring to attention um a Services called Scot Services which is basically Senior Citizens United Community Services um they they offer a variety of things uh Emergency Services housing assistance uh in Home Services resit care um shared Senior Living which could be very helpful in our community um I know a lot of folks have had issues uh particularly I hear a lady complaining about the mice every week um this outfit can basically get you out of that um you can put you in a home now it is a shared environment it's not your homus it's not for everyone obviously uh but they offer a variety of services uh it's not that um I do have some information some pamphlets if anybody wants it and the director Jennifer W uh we'll be having her coming in the next few weeks to do a meet and greet so if anyone's interested in that we we'll get that information hopefully that's all good evening everyone um tonight the governing body introduced the 2024 Municipal budget on uh the next at the next meeting which is May the 8th will be the public hearing um on the budget and I just wanted to announce that we recently received um from NJ do uh two grants one being a Avenue prior to Pavement repairs for $300,000 and reconstruction of Brighton Avenue for $200,000 and I'll discuss those a little more at the public hearing that's it thank you I just have one thing I'd like to bring up I know a lot of people in our community get very upset when people come knocking at their door every day for uh you want to buy solar panels you want solar panels on your roof you want and we have an ordinance that says that you are not allowed to go door to door and B under wall and I get a lot of them which the ordinance is 1993 in case anybody needs it but um you get a lot of them come door and when I ask what your permit for going door to door they tell me oh we have one and then they show me their little badge and stuff and I try to say no you don't have one I said need to go to the Flik and apply for our permit well we've come up with a solution to this and I have to thank straford and I think no I'm sorry suel suel uses this in their town this is a new decal that we're going to be giving out from the Construction office you come into the Construction office you ask for one they will give you one we ask that you give your name and your address so we can keep files of who's doing this so we can make sure that you know anything happens that we have a person that we know what we're been given to but this is a new thing there's only one per household please only take one but please make sure you go into the Construction office it says no soliciting violators will be fined pursuing to the burrow ordinance 1993 and it's got the bur seal on but you can pi up anytime during normal business hours and please I put mine in my window I haven't had anybody since so if you if you want one and you want to stop these people from knocking on your door please get one and put at your window okay I would thank you very much and I can I think it's it's blue goes on the outside okay yeah it's cing and everything it's really pretty nice see but uh all I have so at this time I'm going to open to the public anyone from the public to speak please your name and ACC the record and please try to keep it for five minutes tell you is they'll only take one thing for fall you can't put more than one item and here's the email I had a little planner a little fake tree and one other and they told me I had to wait 3 weeks to pick it up I on Facebook or whatever but they don't just come out and pick up your bat one item her house we so they want you to just keep your trash outside for 3 weeks trash Street saying where you want to keep that you want to get rid of the trash in your can put it in your can that's why I had a ball because fit in the can everybody has to do it I have to do it I'm tell you it's only I know that it's only one that hold on please both excuse you need to be respectful as well they all right if you would just do me a favor if you would call public work at that point and say look there have three small items or whatever I did and he said no here's the email tell me no you text message them right and I talk to the girl too I have four messages emails and I talk to her and she said we'll only do one item so I took to my sister's house they take anything in her t i can get it so it's not I've seen take more than one item I have email saying I'm saying I'm just trying to say we use that what different things Mr Terry in the future if you just have three small items or whatever the case and um and the response that you get is no whatever the just give me a call I just trying to say what she was saying against and hand in hand and I will reach out to um Public Works on your behalf that's fine so my other thing was when she was talking about the homeless I actually had something here to propose for a homeless shelter out here because the packo is getting really bad I'm out there every week at the packo you know and I give out the blessing bags through all the toiletries and food and clothes we have all these empty buildings why can't you can get grants and stuff from H why can't we have something like hand and hat from Joseph's house they can come in after 8:00 they can sleep and bathe and they go back out in the morning and the day help you transition right just just to let you know there is one in Lakeland they're building a new one in Lakeland and they ask you please do not feed the Homeless that they want you to get them registered so that they can take care of the homeless and get them back into society the way where they belong I understand I transitioned a lot of them and that's and that's what they were working on right I was at a meeting just last week on behalf of council has to help with the home situation so we are working on it we are in involved with the county in this situation and she a m of the committee as anyone else in public wish you have col Avenue SE basally about my house in the neighborhood there been little Improvement all seems like the last few days been a whole lot of us dogs because they be out there in the cold and the rain just Ying hour after hour after hour the last few days has been kind of quiet we still have all the junk cars and all the Trac now in response to what you said I understand the limits but it can be frustrating as a resident and I'm not quite sure why it's limited to sell little because it actually cost to borrow more money by doing that if they're in your house and you have to pick up one thing or five things it's one stop get it all at once now they're coming around you ping people put stuff out every week week after week after week when they put it all out at once now I understand you don't have a ton of people doing this I get it and it it could be overwhelming some days oh maybe we just have a discussion and try and change it's not it's not because of that remember how many apartment complexes we have in this town I understand that I get that that's but as a resident who is taking care of their house and pay their taxes unlike them it's it's frustrating they're they're they are accorded the same rights as a home under law that they they wanted in in court that that we have to treat them the same exact way when it comes to trash pickup as we do a residential home in the community so even though they're even though you say you know I get it for homeowners they're residents but they have the same luxury of trash pickup as we do right as we do so you know that's that's the way it is and with them that can quickly turn into an Isa or in an apartment complex when they got people dumping stuff outside the dumpster around the dumpster you know people moving in and out of stuff it can quickly and people come here you heard them come in and complain about the dumpsters around your apartment complexes and the sofas and the mattresses and the dressers and the and things that can be caught on buyer set on buyer and things like that so it's just a frustra I get it listen I had stuff to put out I had to do it the same way she had to do it I had to put one piece out one week then I called the next week and they came and got the other piece I called the next and came and got the other pieces you know although it doesn't always work with everybody because I had a neighbor that tore up his as driveway and put bucket after bucket after bucket of basketball out there and one day one of your employees showed up with a front that's [Music] much so it's not he said she said I saw also you you can take anything you want to so if you want to just load it up and take it over there you don't want sitting around your and they have the giant dumpster there where I've taken things because I don't want to wait till you know hold them for the week after week and I think some of is not only so much that but I was not aware of what m p spoke about the clean up in wind and I think that's what people are looking for they see more they see more advertisement from other towns having a clean up day there is a lot of areas that just don't get taken care of I myself last year used to clean up the spot where Way Road runs in by the middle school plot of grass right there because nobody would take ownership of it no one would clean it up so I used to go there twice a year with my truck clean it up myself I think we need more things like that happening to help clean up the community because there's areas this is not able to clean up Boy Scouts used to do a lot of I used to be involved with the scouts and we used to do cleanup a couple times a year and walk around the whole neighborhood and clean up I haven't heard anything that Scout and I Shar your frustration with people I just had so pan people coming around the other day it's I'll I'll be around getting one them see if it helps I have done the same thing there's a to and they get a dangle badge that's not that's your ID badge it's not a the thing too if you happen to see any of these people trying to do that try to get a fromer something with their name on it because them doing it a lot of them already been cited so we can send them a f and it's like $250 I think what I might start Pi problem picture of come thank you Mr and that's thank you anyone else AC the street from John of all the man bu he a very not want to touch the second thing is I think most of the reason the dogs were 405 is inet I any amount of money that femes we'll be keeping an eye keeping it's frustrating because I know sometimes your hands are ti but as a resid it's frustrating when it's taking forg they came after me just want to make a quick observation as out walking my dog over the weekend I saw that there was a um fluid coming out of one of the sewer Connections in the neighborhood uh I sent even though it was on the weekend I sent an email in and I was very pleasantly surprised about the efficiency that on by noon Monday I got a notice saying that someone had been out checked it and um it was a sewer blockage they fixed the blockage and it was taken care of that was like within the next day 24 [Music] hours um I just want to thank you I appreciate the fact that now our Township is working with the county to deal with the Hess um so I appreciate the effort that was taking um question about I sent out an email early May early February and I did get a response was returned my emaila and returned my email so I wasn't quite sure I didn't get any Emil from oh I have I have I I'll show you after you may be using the wrong email address for them let me see what you have okay I know I went online I'll have to give my email that's not my email address okay yeah um and then the the new coun was not working I hope it's working now it is okay all right so that's second um third thing I just like to know is the application for the senior house um how I um but um my email was about waving the fee um because I do work for a nonprofit organization and I had spoken earlier about the conditions of the citizens of Lind wall and how dire some of those numbers are especially the amount of unemploy uninsured residents that we have is am of state and um I work for M cancer center and we do free Outreach free cancer screenings um we also work with our population Health that takes care of other um health issues and that April is National minority Health Awareness Month um and it's a great time to get information out there to our residents especially you know our people of col who might not have or might not know about the free service um yeah the senior yeah you said Senor housing we've done we've done educ things there already that's why I was like wa the senior like you want to have that you can do it right here benefit for the employees of the to be able to take advantage of that would it be like for [Music] in like that yeah okay well that's good to know um because I also have a contact our camp County Health Department ly rner and she's will to come out and El up good evening ladies and gentlemen nor cross I hope you a to get through this in five minutes quite a few I have quite a few things on the as you know I haven't spoken since early December uh so there's number things on the list already and I quite a few things that come up tonight so I'll go as quickly as I can first and foremost Council Jackson want to welcome you post obviously year we haven't spoken at the meeting so welcome aboard uh I was going to mention the community center and was hoping that you were going to have better reception in using the community center than we have Cly has um as you may know and if you don't it'll be news to you most residents experience is that that building ispite it's nomenclature in the outside has always been more about control in community so if if you can help make that change that would be wonderful but part of what I'm hearing tonight is that perhaps burough Hall is going to morph into a bit of a community center that would certainly be wonderful for all the activities and resources that have been brought forth and presentation been given here on the floor at Council meetings with County Representatives we have yet to make that happen despite number of initiatives and agreements from Council president and so forth of having you you and roxan are going to have an event sear now we're offering Council floor that opportunity so we certainly look forward to that uh Desa thank you certainly for the announcement tonight um also want to thank you for the service on the public events committee and your um want to thank Council woman it is Odessa Patton for your Pati and gr especially as it related to uh the movie screen um that we're told was more than 20 years old and held together with duct tape as it was we're certainly glad to hear that maybe getting fixed now U the website thank you guys for the updates there and getting rid of some of the typos and misspelling um one last thing we are now in the six District legislative district is opposed to four um that's one i' could be made the train grid want to follow for your on train grid we haven't made any progress we cannot get have you heard back from it yet no there's no we we cannot get in contact with the people that we need to speak to in order to approve any type of change of the painting on there without doing going r i mean the Department of Transportation says that it's owned by uh an advertising arm and we've had no this has been going on for years we cannot I don't even know how I think adver more than 10 years ago we know we're well aware of that but we think they didn't even have permission to do what they did we think they just painted it on there because we can't find out who they spoke to to get you a while but there is um an advertising agency or someone that actually um owned it and they're the ones that had the advertisement and it's my understanding that we would have to get a permission from them so I will have that information for you because I do have an email that came from um the state with regards to that so we definitely Planet storage moved here about 30 years ago so they they were here when I first well they change businesses a different place runs it now but yeah they've been out of business but we still can't just go over there and paint over top of their uh right we s you a list of eight different towns throughout the state who've all painted their train Bridges beautifully so clearly there's a that's not right possibility and I understand we're going on like six or seven years asking the same question and I understand well U let me just let me just say something here let me just say something for a moment Trevor this is not a new idea the former mayor and former Council we've been trying to to pay Lind wall Pride on that bridge since when I began on Council almost 20 years ago so this is not well I can't speak to what Hoboken did but whatever we do we have to do it Trevor I'll let you speak please let me finish whatever we do we have to do it fair and what's according to the law we're not just going to go over there in the Midnight Hour and pay Len Pride well I can't speak for what the mayor Hoboken did I'm speaking for leny wall we are working through the progress I don't know if you ever dealt with New Jersey Transit before but it's not an easy process to deal with them we finally got an answer as to the advertising company that runs your advertisement when we get through this we will okay but this is not something that that you you just turn and switch and you get an answer to it so it's not like you're not this is not this is not an original idea of yours we've been trying to do this for years trying to get anybody can consider an unreasonable time frame well listen I we can't control what what they do you know may had that why didn't you reach out to him and ask what was done we can't get the information how many times you probably get had a better chance at getting through this direct line well let me just say that there's two different the northern part of New Jersey Transit and the southern part of New Jersey Transit are two different things oh come on you you know okay all right you know thank you uh I know uh she's gone now but I know Don is in the middle of trying to uh get back to us on a number of questions we had uh I'll get into that in a minute more now I have a question about the library board well I guess I can ask it now who is the um who is the school superintendent among the library Advisory board members according to State Statute the the school superintendent is supposed to sit on the library Board of any municipality we under the opes of Camden County everything that goes through our library is done through Camden County everything that we do at our library is done under the hospices of Camden County so does that mean the bo so does that mean none of the other state statutes apply what you talking most of them don't it's all part we're part of the C County Association we pay to go to C County we pay for all of that stuff to go to C County oh I realize that we all get free library CS in the county but State statutes regarding things like accessibility and who's supposed to sit on the library advisory for those are State statutes Universal to every municipality not whether you come under count the County's responsible for those situations we are part of the county they don't have one at Winslow they don't have one at at at U Elmore they don't have a board like that at those organizations the county has the board itself okay so if state if state regulations don't apply to you do federal regulations apply to you I don't think so no not just a situation building is we are under we are under the County's office and as far as the handicap accessibility the building was built way before Ada and it was grandfather in to be as it is it doesn't have to comply okay with all the respect counselor and you know this to be true there is no such thing as grandfathered in as it relates to Federal legislation known as American Disabilities Act of 1990 there is no such thing as grandfather did there are simply municipalities listen for a second municipalities that make exceptions based on one of two rules one historic significance a building that can't be retrofitted because it would destroy the historical significance clearly there's no historical significance to a raest ranch on Lyon Avenue secondly economic hardship we're 34 diers now in 30 economic hardship would apply in 1990 but we're now 34 years in which posed the question from the audience and viewers of our uh Community the B annual 3-day some people call them political rallies other people call them Book Sales the money that's being raised at those Book Sales is that being saved up to make the accomodations to the building to make it ADA Compliant you guys are familiar with ADA compliance you're putting a sidewalk in it's ADA Compliant on tonight's agenda so we're we're you guys are aware of ADA in 1990 is that money being saved up to fix that building to make it accessible by all no goes to the crafts and things that do at the why don't we use State funding for that to put an elevator in there no first off the building doesn't have to be Ada accessible because we are within the limit the mileage to go to Camden County because we are part of Camden County's library system so our library because we're so close to it we don't have to be Ada accessible yes you do no I told to them people months years ago the federal government you are because we are within a two mile limit of the camp County Library which is Ada accessible people don't have transportation get people come I already did years ago they don't do anything they don't do anything helps but I am going to put this to rest with regards to The Trestle okay so on October 10th I received an email from New Jersey Transit New Jersey Transit has contracted with intersection a media advertising company to handle exterior advertising on many of our train trestles around the state the train trestle at a Harbor Road falls under intersections inventory and they have exclusive advertising rights to that space New Jersey Transit has a limited budgetary allocation for repainting railroad Bridges throughout the state this work is highly specialized and requires specific training and railroad engineering planning and supervision repainting a railroad bridge is a significant financial and Workforce undertaking with cost exceeding 400,000 to 500,000 for a bridge of this size due to the need for cleaning containment abatement painting railroad support track allergies and extended road we closures require police presence unfortunately New Jersey Transit does not have the resources for this project thank you for your understanding and we appreciate your continued partnership with New Jersey Transit did you have any further questions or require additional assistance please do not hesitate to reach out and that is a response that we received from New Jersey Transit with regards to intersection Don I first want to sincerely thank you for for butting that up and putting the answer to that guess follow up to it if there is one would be if we can't repay it then could we ask them to pressure wash once they're on make it nak yet at least it's not advertising business it's no longer in business welcome totalized water for less than just throwing it out there but it's out of our control okay I'm not I I clean situation because it's two different things I think is what's going on that you mentioned on Facebook so and I don't want to get lumped into what's going on with that so there's two different things I think the conversation that's happening on Facebook regarding cleanups is yes people are seeing that Clemen sets up on the tennis court say but dumpsters down people can come and dump that that has nothing to do with love L World it has nothing to do with we do for environmental cleanups we're going out in parks and Lake areas and Trail heads in this town and picking up trash bottles cans straws baggies and whatnot so has nothing to do with that and don't want to get confused with it I will provide an aside to that to say that greig Wells and the lell public works department has always been extremely supportive of any cleanup efforts l noal or any Resident I've ever known and hung out with always been very uh receptive to that and very responsive to any pickup needs or or anything like that so I don't want I don't want to be associated with anything that's happening negatively our public works department because I think they're wonderful so uh I just want to clear that um anyone else from the public to your point sir on um Mr Miguel asked about a couple of different things one of your responses was uh regarding the full pickup and one of the reasons we can't do it another way because of all the apartment complexes we have we know we have 25 apartment complexes and we know that density continues to at least in your mind be a challenge but you guys can no longer use this as an excuse number one it's whole these apartment complexes have been here for decades number two none of the residents approved any of them the governing body did and I realized May none of you because it was long before your time we didn't approve it you guys did so in other words the infrastructure issues and challenges that we have need to be helped by County resources and state resources if if we had infrastructure needs beyond the tax capabilities of the residents we have in town that's not an infrastructure decision we made you guys made that soct right Chang to the tra happen after they bu not while they bu okay either way the the new decisions regarding the M moral Doctrine looks like it's going to make some changes anyway maybe that'll get things in order we'll see um I think it except for your door too ordinance sir I just want to clarify that because we have had some a lot of misinformation uh with that door to door soliciting as for the ordinance is definitely uh against the law in this town um but going door to door for any other purpose other than sales is not so religious proliferation going door to door talk to your neighbors none of that is illegal and none of that you can't go the really yes so religious individuals can't go on and proti yes they can no they can't really we'll look into that thank you sir okay anyone else wishing to speak uh are you going to follow up with me on the re question on the library um Trevor I will do my best as I mentioned in my email I'm just returning from medic and I have a lot of enough to do I'll do my we're in we've been very patient on a lot of things we're no R thank you ladies and gentlemen have a good evening anyone else are those um available now or do you have actually during the day people who work wanted to um if you call if you call and make arrangements I'm sure they give something yeah drop in the mail
