##VIDEO ID:TtMiWT0m3EE## before you go to bed just get you all pumped up in upset yeah right 30 years isn't that amazing remind you why you hay Norm green again exactly all these it's sitting in the chair next to me [Laughter] Joe on here all right I'll call to order this Thursday November 14th uh city council meeting Pledge Allegiance Pledge Al to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all roll call Brian rers gersan here Kevin kada here Tim is absent Cindy F here and Scott pava here for we have the uh approval agenda that goes through 10 a in new business um now the time planing be added or deleted motion to approve is presented second motion by P second Byers any further discussion all those in favor I I any oppos motion carries approval of minutes from the October 28th 2024 Reg reg council meeting has any changes or motion second motion to approve motion by wor exion to approve second by fewer any further discussion all those in favor I I oppose motion carries public hearings we have none presentation of citizens petitions and comments comments limited to two minutes no public comment nothing on the consent agenda nothing on Old business new business consider approval of resolution 2024-25 resolution declaring general election results canas election juler thank you mayor protm and members of the council uh with the city conducting a general election on uh earlier this month on November 5th the city council is required to Canvas OR declare the election results uh to comply with state statute sh 20585 subdivision 3 the council must meet between the 3rd and 10th day uh following the election to Canvas uh the election results as the canvasing board by approving the proposed resolution the city council certifying that the canvasing board has inspected the names and persons receiving votes and the number of votes received and then also authorizing the canvas board to sign the abstract of votes cast in the precincts of the city of lawdale state of Minnesota at the municipal General election held Tuesday November 5th 2024 uh as compiled from the election results uh there is no fiscal impact to uh approving the proposed resolution Alternatives would be none because this has to be done with between the third and and 10th day and then included with the staff report is uh proposed resolution 202 24-4 the abstract of votes cast that we received from from Rice County and then uh state statute 20585 um so um based off of the abstract um we had 200 2,942 people registered at 7: a.m. uh the election judges did a tremendous job and registered an additional 250 uh we had 504 uh residents vote by um absentee ballot military uh or overseas ballots uh zero offices for ab zero for presidential um so with the what do we have 2,196 people vote um in town on Election Day that coupled with a 504 brought the total people voting to 2,699 uh by far the um the largest turnout for a general election in history for for sure uh as far as um mayor Tom Berg received 9009 88 votes uh Scott palava 951 Mike conu 519 and there were 39 rins uh previous to the election the council adopted a resolution to um not count every single absentee ballot you have if um you do a writing campaign um prior to seven days prior to the election you need to declare that you're doing a right in candidacy so I'm not sure who those those 39 were were for and as far as City Council Members we had um uh James OA received 1,280 krie Miller 1,132 uh Cindy fear 720 uh Mike Hardin 638 and then Wesley Mosel 213 and um additional 39 rins um that is basically the the abstract I think the following page is just just reiterate the same the same language so um yeah first state statute the council's the cus board again needs to meet between the third and 10th day to Canvas are declare the election results unless there's any questions staff would recommend approval of resolution 2024 D 47 Some Mo Mo my pla to approve second second by pure any further discussion all those in favor I I any oppos motion carries again thank you um to all the candidates that did run um thank you Cindy for your for your time on the council um and good luck to all the new candidates that did get a all right other business uh department head reports thank you um so Public Works we got all our snow equipment ready to go for this winter um I contacted the snow haulers that haul our snow off of Main Street um all are in favor of leaving the $125 per hour with no minimum time in place for this year so that is good news um Christmas tree is decorated um and then some good news about the new meter reader that we bought um Scott just read for the first time with it and he was done by lunchtime so it cut the meter reading time in half which was not expected so that was that was a very good um benefit that was not expected with that reader um just it just processes everything faster or I think it has it's giving a higher signal like a stronger signal so less time having to as you're driving down streets it you know when you first turn it on it's grabbing and grabbing and grabbing and then it as it gets older mxus and things like of that nature you just got to go down more streets and yeah when he came for lunch he said I'm done I I couldn't believe it so that was that was really good awesome great um all the parks are winterized and tomorrow we will be planting some trees that we bought to replace trees at trenda Memorial and we're going to plant a few at JC Park just trenda Memorial kind of ran out of room so we're going to plant a few at the JC Park to lessen the burden when those ash trees have to come down give them a little bit of a head start so that's all I got for you guys thank you uh review and applications for our city hall employee and public works and then uh Corey and I worked on Advisory board openings uh earlier this week so those are uh will be in the paper uh should be advertised on our um website and Facebook we're looking at for the Planning Commission uh one threeyear term Economic Development we have one six-year term uh the library board has two three-year terms and then the the park board has two positions one is a one-year term um replacing Maria kski who um resigned D moving out of town and then um a four year your regular term so uh every like I said everything's uh going to be in the paper on our website Facebook um any questions and come to Corey and I thank you Mr Cory uh thank you and members of or the and council members um as Joel stated uh we've been uh advertising for The Advisory board openings that was our priority earlier this week to get those uh posted on our platforms and newspaper and then um also uh julan and I have been working on our January marketing plan uh that we'll be presenting at the upcoming Eda meeting very good thank youil member exursion um not too much uh next week is Eda and Library board um last Saturday great turnout uh Cindy I saw you at the liquor store there at the wine tasting uh outstanding turnout and based on what I saw in carts I think we uh we sold a few bottles of wine so thank you everyone for turning out for that it was a fun event and good vendors we had uh some a lot of local vendors so that was nice to see it was a lot of fun very good council member here no he has cover um council member R scripton covered the Eda and and the liquor board U but yes this the the um event at the liquor store was very well attended I think they had they had several new vendors I think that that just really brought a nice variety to the to the event so but yes and I and a lot of stuff going out the door so that's great it's even better yeah yep yeah I'm talking with the L she washed 120 glasses and then there were uh more in the garbage plastic ones so at least 120 attendees very good those are the ones that got turned back in yeah right I'm sure a couple of those glasses walked out the door clean of [Laughter] course all right thank you con m I have nothing simple enough thank you um I have just one thing Park Board is Monday at 5:30 other than that that is all I have move to adjourn motion by plava to adjourn second second by fer any further discussion all those in favor I I any oppos motion carries that is it for the me
