good evening and welcome I'm Diane gullet I'm the proud superintendent of Marian County Public Schools and so pleased to have you here tonight for our resoning um meeting and I want to I'm going to introduce a member of my team to kick us off but do appreciate that you're coming here tonight to be part of this conversation and the purpose of tonight's meeting is to take a look at our our growth that we all know is happening in Maran County and to look at uh ways that we can get your input into what the resoning will look like in Maran County so you may or may not be aware that Maran County Public Schools have experienced growth in our schools um some districts are shrinking and ours is actually growing so we've had 9% increase in enrollment over the last 10 years and if you uh live or even drive by the Southwest area of town you see a lot of high growth there that's we've been talk talking about that being localized overcrowding but it's also spreading across our County um and also another fun fact for you to be aware of if you're not already is that Maran County itself is the fifth largest in Geographic size in the State of Florida and what that means for us in serving our more than 45,000 students is that we have pockets in the community in different areas that resoning provides some challenges because unlike a tight Urban boundary Zone um changes in schools can have great impact on transportation and time for students to get to school so it provides some opportunities for us to have unique ways of solving those problems that is very unique to a district our size by land alone so um again very excited that you're here tonight and you're going to hear from my team and I look forward to getting your input so without further delay I am pleased to introduce Mr Steven SS who will kick off the information part of tonight he is our director for student ass um assignment and Records that's the that's the title now and essentially what he does is the overseas student enrollment for our schools and and the capacity that we have in our seats but again thank you for being here and appreciate and look forward to your input welcome as Dr gullet says my name is Stephen SS and I'm the director of student assignment and records for Maron County Public Schools as was mentioned before this presentation tonight is designed to inform stakeholders in the upcoming rezoning process and to seek your input tonight um you should have picked up a form from the lobby that has a QR code where you can actually do that input and those that are watching online will have the QR code presented on the screen for you to do that as well as being able to go out to the district website F5 and you're ready to go F5 there we go all right Maring County Public Schools as Dr goet had mentioned has seen an increase enrollment over 9% in the last 10 years and this year we currently have a record enrollment of 45 over 45,000 students this graph shows an upward trend of enrollment over the last 10 years especially over the last three years in 2023 Maring County Public Schools conducted a long range School planning study this slide was part of the results showing projected residential development in Maring County through 2045 the areas in purple show the highest population change and the orange circle show projected res iial development over the next 5 years this slide is from the Maring County Board of Commissioners website it shows current number of approved residential developments in Orange and developments under construction that have been approved from 2016 to 2023 by Maring County the map is an interactive website and is available using the QR code or the web address on the screen this slide is a representation of the student density of current student enrollment each dot represents a household with students currently attending Maring County Public Schools this map is a representation of the student density um current of in current enrollment of all elementary schools the school zones in red are currently over 90% capacity this slide shows the current enrollment of our middle schools again the schools in red are currently over 90% capacity this last map shows the current enrollment of our high schools again the schools in red are currently over 90% capacity this map shows where in Maring County New School schools and new classroom buildings are planned through 2028 there are two elementary schools currently underway I would like to introduce now miss Barb Dobbins senior executive director of operations for Maring County Public Schools to go over the new schools thank you Mr SS well we do know we are growing we're growing as you can see on our roads with more cars and we're seeing that in our student enrollment as well so we are set to build three new schools in the next four years this is a very exciting time and a much needed time as we haven't built a school since 2011 on the screen here you'll see a rendering this is what our two new elementary schools front entrance will um be appear and then our first new elementary school is known as Elementary School W that is not the name of the school that's just the holding place until we formally adopt the school name we are looking for this school to open in August of 2025 it is located in the Northwest Maring Oaks area it sits on 27.8 acres and it will house approximately 860 students with a price tag of $47 million this is our site planed for the school as you can see we'll have plenty of parking with 210 staff and event space parking we also will have 5600 linear feet of stacking for student drop off and pickup this is just over a mile and our goal is to get the cars off the public roadways we also have plenty of Bus Loop Lanes to keep our buses off those public roadways as well the second school we are building is known as New Elementary School X again X is just a placeholder name until we formally adopt it also will open open in August of 2025 it is also known in the area of the Winding Oaks over off Southwest 49th Avenue road it sits on 20 acres it will to also house 860 students with a price tag of $47 million both of these elementary schools will already have predetermined and plotted areas to add additional Wings if enrollment continues to increase in those areas and the need arises this too is the site plan for elementary X keeping in mind that the property is slightly smaller than the other school so our car rider line is a little bit just under a mile for car rider stacking with 5100 linear feet and also plent of Bus Parking again our goal is to keep the cars and buses off the private excuse me off the public roads and then the third school we will build is a new high school this is known as new High School CCC again just a placeholder until we have formally adopt the school name it will open in August of 2026 it is located in southeast Marin Oaks area it sits on over a 100 acres and will house starting at 2,000 students at a price tag of 136 million the site plan for this again is in the planning stage of designs but we are expecting to have 4400 linear F feet of student drop off plenty of bus lane and a home seats for a stadium of 1500 with an expansion of up to 10,000 if we decide to host a state championship with portable bleachers this High School is also going to be a shelter um it will house over 3,000 of our community EV acues if the need arises and back to Mr SS thank you Miss doin as we look to start rezoning there are three types of rezoning that school districts typically go through the first is technical rezoning that is generally an uninhabited property that doesn't affect any students the second is targeted resoning which usually just affects a small area and a limited number of students the third type is relief school resoning which involves opening of new schools and affects a large area and a large number of students the steps to resoning are first to determine the need and to collect stakeholder input after the need is determined and stakeholder input is collected a plan for rezoning is developed after the resoning plan is developed stakeholder input is again collected on the specific plans the plans and input are then presented to the school board for approval we are now now in the collecting input phase of the resoning process we value all stakeholder input and invite you to submit your input questions and comments there's a district rezoning website where rezoning information is located the website can be accessed by using the QR code on the screen or the web address we will collect all input questions and comments using online forms that can be accessed from The District's we zoning web page or using the QR codes on the screen we thank you for your time this evening and we look forward to your input questions and comments as we help every student succeed thank you
