we have been yeah let's start with that and I'll start Jeff sler Council for the school board Terry uh Terry Haron also councel uh for the school board and um I believe just to clarify this is session five okay yeah thank you this is Julie cessa assistant superintendent of HR for the school board Sherry Richardson director of Professional Standards and employee relations uh Martin Powell Council for MCA uh Matt theal president mcea Gary Simmons service director for the Treasure Coast Service Unit of the Florida Education Association that includes the Martin County Education Association all right I think that's it all right so we're uh we're back on with the fifth uh session uh negotiating this presidential leave memorandum of understanding this School Board had provided a redlined mou at our last session uh that mcea was going to consider and and that's what we're here back on yeah um so that's you hear me sorry I I can am I talking okay um sorry my little screen was not turning blue um yeah so that's why we're here back on I'm going to start I'll let matter Gary fill in where I can um you know uh I don't want to rehash where we were last time we're hoping for the um the exit exit opportunity in case we have issues financially or otherwise with the dessert actions and things like that and and expecting that to happen and so we've been working the last two days with Finance with legal um with the Affiliates trying to figure out if if we can um as good stewards of our organization agreed to this commitment without any exit policy um outside of you know um outside of um defaulting on the payment obviously because that wouldn't work for anyone um but um essentially we're we're here but we're not here right we're here we don't have we don't we Matt's done the financial dive he's worked with Finance people trying to figure that out um but but is not at a place today where we can say for sure that the eboard is going to be comfortable signing up their reserves and everything um without an exit policy and so um and so Matt's been working with uh FDA with AF Nea all the Affiliates trying to make sure that this is a safe thing to do for MCA membership um and we just don't have an answer to that right now and so you know we're kind of here I didn't want to cancel the meeting because we wanted to have this conversation but um but we we we you know our goal was to get it done and we're not we're not there yet with our internal work um and so you know I think Matt's Matt thinks he can get it done Tuesday Morning um our hope is that we can get something on the on the agenda whether it's the arbitration um the arbitration resolution on the agenda as a placeholder and and give a yes no um on Tuesday because we're done we're down to the yes no on this I guess and so um so that's that's kind of where we are I don't know if that's clear I don't want to rehash the reasons for all of that again we talked about that on on on whatever day it was that we met last time um but um you know we were just you know we were hoping and expecting us to come up with a with a separation opportunity on that last time and we weren't able to get there and so we kind of had to go back to the drawing board with all of our finances given the dessert filing and given the the the ongoing issues across the state for local unions and so um so that's where we are I mean I don't you know I don't have I don't have any other news than that unfortunately and so um I'll let matter Gary fill in where I missed um but I don't know you know we want to discuss where we where we go from there whether that's a possible opportunity to get on the board agenda as a placeholder give them the yes no on this Tuesday Morning um and have the the arbitration resolution as the placeholder or or you know whatever the placeholder needs to be that was just one suggestion so uh Matt did I miss um anything based on our conversations or Gary and um and then you know we'll go from there no no Martin I think I think you summarized it perfectly um I I just wanted to to add um you know as as Martin said we we still have some some questions on our end that that we need answered um we've asked those questions to to the the parties that that need you know that we need to ask of um and they just haven't been able to give us an answer yet um we're we're told that that the earliest they can do that is is Monday um we we have a commitment um to be at new teacher orientation um Monday morning um and and so so it wouldn't we wouldn't be able to have those conversations until probably the afternoon um which which puts us you know getting our answers then um meaning meaning we'd have to give you guys either the yes or no um you know on on Tuesday morning prior prior to the meeting um I guess my my question to Julie is that um we we do have a placeholder on the agenda already is that correct no we don't have one but we can work to do that um the offices are closed today um but we can work to do that I was going to ask Terry procedurally as a Schoolboard attorney how do I just get that on the agenda um I mean they the board chair can do that so we may have to talk offline about how to do that I mean if you say we don't have the answer till Tuesday Morning the meetings that afternoon um I mean I can email the clerk uh today and the superintendent and he can give her a call so I mean there's just some procedural things that I can't um necessarily I mean they all got my minutes but I I didn't do that because I didn't know that we'd have any to go there so yeah we'll have two options we can talk offline about we've got the meeting on Tuesday and procedurally if there's a way to obviously Sunshine law requirements um to be able to get that on the agenda if it was a positive and we were to proceed and then there's also um you know I don't know the appetite but August 6th as well but I know that this is something that our our team wanted done in July and so I think what we'll do is look at the first option which is keeping it on the agenda um with the hope that we'll be able to get there so we can we can again work offline Julie on it okay uh Jeff you can back me up on this but the board wanted it done by the 29th I I didn't get the sixth as an option yeah that's what I was saying that they they do not have an appetite for that so uh so we'll play I mean that's kind of be our drop dead um if the meeting is on the 30th and it's going to be not we'll talk we'll talk Julie okay is that better can't tell all right so that that's our hard part now when you say arbitration resolution I I'm think I have two two pieces to that but that's not that's not Sunshine though so should we di well he's using AR arbitration as a placeholder yeah I just I was that was just a blind suggestion if there's a better way to do it then obviously I defer to the group on that I just a total suggestion yeah you could leave that in our lap if you're saying that we'll have a final answer for you on Tuesday and we need to schedule a session between us um preferably Monday but if you're saying I won't have an answer till Tuesday then we can try to do what we can on our side um procedurally to to have that spot available um if possible again we'll that's that balls in our court to figure out I'm available Monday evening or until probably seven or so but and then Tuesday morning as well so if if that work if whatever we need to do I think we'll probably facilitate since we're um meeting this time I can't speak for matter Gary but uh I'm also available um anytime on Monday anytime on on Tuesday I'll prioritize this on on my agenda everything else I can move around um I'm I'm available Tuesday early um I have uh a doctor's appointment for for my son at three um and I think I I think I have another meeting if it's with the district or or not um earlier oh no I have a I have a one o'clock um so I think we need to do it Monday if we're going to get it on the agenda and um my only obligation is the 7:45 opening of new teacher orientation but I I think we need to get it done on Monday and if we can get it even if it's around lunchtime I mean Matt it's not going to take long for you to jump you can jump on a meeting at the school um I'm just saying it wouldn't take very long for us to get through to this I don't the longer we wait the less chance we have getting on the agenda and my that's my humble opinion that makes sense we just want to make sure we we have the information right so understood yeah I there's yeah there's there's people that that are not on this Zoom that that they have to make their Arrangements too so um we're trying trying to give them time to to do that also um and I'm looking I'm looking at the calendar now um okay um Monday uh Monday afternoon all right um as as late in the afternoon as possible so that I can I can give these folks a window um to to make their decisions by they're um it's a travel day for for everybody so so there's not a lot of folks in the office to to get stuff done um could we do 4:30 yeah is that is that yeah I mean I think we're we're essentially at a at a yes no so the meeting I mean I've said that before but the meeting shouldn't take very long correct is my hope um but but yeah that works for me works for me as well yep Julie are you good with 4:30 on Monday um all my devices are on something else so I will do whatever we can just say tentatively and uh and then we'll just let you know if we need to move it no I'll be there check okay and then and if I can't Sherry will be there and it's only going to be a couple minutes right Sherry that's right yeah I'm looking at your calendar oh okay good my phone's in another room and if I get up to get it all three dogs
