oh we lot Stu right the w we get go all right cool so I'll call the meeting to order um 5:47 so we'll start with roll George present Blanco's not here BR is not here's not here Matthew is here joseo no just no no man you know Romy here Andrea here is here John John Carlos is on the way and then Daniel here just present cool so orders of business deferrals additions deletions I don't know if anybody anything it's been pressing on their mind other than once [Music] year uh I still want to mention if people do show up and we can vot those things um the April council meeting is a report yes yeah that's why the budget review thing yeah that's just remember to look at the budget and make sure everything Council know what we're doing planning it's in April said so it's yeah we yeah um do we want to add to the the minutes for today the the town oh I'm sorry I I missed it the video is on there sorry yeah okay cool um so I guess a c minutes we can't really do so well none for the other one is three right none put none that I guess n for deltion none I I just I didn't hear the nun I know we did it the last time to approve the minutes of this meeting would it then go to the next meeting yeah yeah um all right so public comments I don't see anybody here but just so you guys know um officer Amador did send me an email that he's not going to be joining us anymore I mean I don't blame him he was just sitting here most of the time we don't really talk about stuff that involves him that much but he told me to let him know when we do to reach out to him so he can be here when he's actually needed when it's stuff that we have to deal with that he has to deal with like you know events or like that so maybe when it gets closer to the energy Mendes thing we could tag him on again you know to help us out with that M but but I don't blame him he was just kind of stck there for a little bit he us to lock our doors and just be stck there I thought some of if if I read that correctly over the last six seven months when he started that there was Juan used to do it because he retired little Juan and but I heard that he was saying too that after hours you know we don't have people walking around and I think he was at these meetings just to sort of give a little sense of security I think that's what I sort of got from him okay whatever maybe that's the impression I had also when when he spoke to me originally so okay well I don't know I I'll start coming in stra one this I'm just kidding uh so approv of minutes we can't really do budget we can't really do anything specifically on that I guess but we can maybe plan a little bit the only reason I have budget here is cuz I think in the council meeting or the committee the chair meeting pet mentioned that we're going to have to do something soon right like budget something getting the budgets together you know asking Council if we need more money less Mone I think I think that was pretty much taking care of last year yeah that's why we did a pretty yeah in job of splitting everything apart and how we wanted to allocate money so I mean nothing's changed I do want it's verifying I guess to see how much we spent how much we have last so we haven't really done that this year yet but besides the it's I know you don't have it here now that's why we can do it on the next one we actually have people hopefully and I I still need the uh the invoice from the January Network social yeah really that I got a you sent me a W9 recently of um BS but they're already in the system somehow I just need the invoice so they need to send you an invoice is what it is okay okay cool all right so budget review we'll also do next time um if you can do that for us Jonathan if you don't mind like printing out the whole thing like we did last time and we'll just give it a look and see if we're on track with the networking Sol trols if we have money for the energy mes thing if that's something that's still going to happen hopefully and then we can see um so put you um all right cool so old business at least now we can get something kind of positive and exciting so there's the EDC promotional video it's ready yeah I sent it to you guys it's yeah I have it I didn't take a look at it I've been swamped I watched it I saw you send over pretty good I thought it was pretty good [Music] um yeah I mean I don't think we're going to change anything at this point if you know if we had had an opportunity to preview it the one thing I would have changed is that final tagline it's awkward it's awkward I said that and then also I said small airport that drives me crazy because it's an Executive Airport and for businesses like that's important right and so calling it a small airport kind of really downplays the the importance in the locality like how nice the US president flew into that airport you know what I mean like that's a big deal you know what I mean send an email yeah yeah I the last em I have is actually from September been getting WR Emile or something yeah that tagline I was like the tagline oh it painful what was the tagline they they they use growing beautifully but like they ended in a proposition and like that's like the number one cardinal rule the English language that you don't end in a proposition and it's just like yeah and it doesn't even begin right yeah okay not going to lie if there's a way you know that we can like right that we can fix that I I think it's worth fixing because it's the last thing you hear and it's like and it's I mean from a town branding component I think it's important yeah talk I'll take a look at you know we're not like on the deadline anymore is that possible yeah can we watch it it's unlisted on YouTube and got L right I don't remember yeah how am I going to get on this is that a no this is just no you can add a tab you need to have the link get on my computer somehow where's this Zoom can I just join this Zoom send it in the chat oh no but be um can you read him the URL or show him the URL you can type it no I have to but maybe it's not super long let see it's a minute [Music] [Music] [Music] 36 f you ge don't watch it over there anyway yeah you want I can pass my phone for you three over here I know you guys saw it saw yeah I saw it okay okay so who's missing it then just oh my phone to Danny I guess and we're good don't worry about it John just to see wor it don't worry about it it's f [Music] it what like an l 100ks and great schools which makes it anal family friendly there's a movie The ret C and oh yes it's very own golf course you can also stay at the Miami Lakes Hotel that's less than a mile away from thef if or build to choose most the stuff that saying takes care of its entrepreneurs check out the night with lots of restaurants from Mom and Pop to your favorite franchises music right overall I don't think it was that bad we just need couple little is for a reason that's sound really awward is for a reason is for a reason reason like you could have just stopped that growing beautifully yeah I stop right there right all right cool I'll talk to him with Jonathan and stuff and see if maybe we can get it to the voice over for certain things there I'm pretty sure it was just somebody on five or something like that so shouldn't be too difficult no no cool cool cool cool so hopefully next time we can have that done done finally um the next thing is the pull up banners and pins I'm very disappointed in NY Graphics I was supposed to have them ready today but they couldn't get them today so they're going to be ready in like two days but that doesn't matter for me I told them but whatever I'll have it next time the pins are pretty much good to go the only thing is Jonathan I kind of just did it with the E of the EDC logo because it was too long with the with a t of Miami Lakes Economic Development Committee it it was switching the names and we just couldn't make it work so we just did the e that's why I asked you if it was like okay with branding or whatever but I didn't get a response fast enough so I just said screw we're just going to do the E because I think Rudy I noticed had a pin he has one but the EDC logo is like smush it's like a JPEG that smushed because there's no space so we didn't go for that okay all right so I'm GNA have that next time we'll have our pins thanks um all right cool so new business I know we can't really vote on this like like be SP side like what name do you want 15es have like auses um cool so we'll do new business now again we can't really vote on this but the next official business networking social um I Heard from the chamber that Sergio was interested in having an event I wanted that their Somebody's Knocking I think we're gonna have for but leave somebody else on the way oh [Music] really app guys you can Carlo right cool thank you um so I guess we can just backtrack real quick to the minutes just we you good vote on that pres yeah also cool yeah all right awesome so just real quick we'll back track so approval of minutes so the regular meeting minutes from February 20224 yep we can take a [Music] chance um I would like to correct the spelling of one of my last names thank you one of them one of my last names i r i thank you I there right in my minute so I dooster you know what name you want on hopefully right on the P oh my no pressure oh my God oh my God okay I that than that I they look great motion I motion to approve second all in favor awesome cool so the minutes are good all right cool we'll still do the budget next time do we still do we need to just verify anything I guess for the report Jonathan point of view I don't think so right at the end maybe you guys can talk about just like officially you know say like yeah on this is this just maybe attendance if that's something you want to bring up okay I know I'm going to put it as new business I guess I'll put it as F so going back to the new things it'll be the council report we'll just talk about it briefly but I should be able to be fine with that just letting them know how we're doing and the stuff we up to which is actually a decent amount of stuff which we'll see now yeah um Okay cool so now we can actually vote on this so the next official business networking social um I was saying that Sergio was interested con from the chamber reached out to me and told me that they reached out to him saying that they would really want to do a networking event with the town and with the chamber like you know like how been doing and I figured you know why not I don't think we've done anything in that little shopping area in general which I think would be really good yep there's an Amar there and all that um and they're part of the BNI I'm pretty sure right so it's like why not you know all little good little restaurants what's in between em and sergiio that's what it is okay we' we've done some talking with the cops there oh yeah and they've always been very very kind with us coffee with the cops what's the turnout like for that busy I love intimidating it's nice there's another one in there cool if you ring Donuts so all right cool so are you guys on board for Sergio you think that's a yes that work and that do we have a date a perspective date um no that's something we got to think of so I was as soon as we possibly could honestly so April April right yeah um so we would meet our meeting in April would be the 16th right yeah so do we want to do it before our meeting or after our meeting I'm okay with doing it before I don't think it matters too much in all honesty right no if we do it before that gives us time weeks I would I think you should do it a week after the 23r yeah yeah I didn't realize how close we were yeah yeah let's do it the week after we would do we usually do on Tuesdays right is what we say Tuesday or Wednesdays okay always [Music] yeah and then private school we got we been W 30 [Laughter] minutes um so yeah uh Tuesday or Wednesday that week the last one just in case Wednesday is Administrative professional say FYI 2 the 24 Wednesday Wednesday yeah let's do Wednesday then so April 24th 24th yes yeah administratively does that mean anything I [Music] don't might encourage people to come out okay cool I wasn't sure if you meant that man people wouldn't that's why I was no on the contrary okay cool cool um S I was gonna I was just gonna ask that what does Sergio serve do they do they well I know they Ser do they Ser do they have a any kind of Beverage like license for for beer and wine or something I'm not even sure but I mean I'll talk to waiting for like the confirmation on this so and we can with them we have in the budget uh to allocate a certain amount right yes okay yep I think it's five 500 I think so yeah yeah and that's why next meeting I was Jonathan why we'll go over the budget like we'll have the actual budget in front of us and make sure we're on track um for the rest of the year because it'll be like a halfway point or almost halfway point um all right cool so Sergio's April 24th I'll let them know um sria okay cool perfect awesome all right cool so the next thing is the 2024 EDC event brainstorm and we can just kind of do this quickly because I know that there's going to be like the a subcommittee that we're going to set up now have you guys met yet Ry on that or we have not okay cool so do we set how do how does that work Jonathan that we set up those meetings because we can't really talk like do to do them now is it through you via email like how do they set up subcommittee meetings um we just have to pick a date then so the people that are on the subcommittee that are here are Manny and Carlos that makes three of us out of the subcommittee do we want to pick a date now and then we can inform everyone else see are Steve and Jessica right Steve and Jessica correct Steve and Jess so maybe we meet when when did you say spring break is it's the following week it's next week is there anything happening the first week of April actually that week is for private private following week is for for public okay so so it's basically next week and the week after are the are the spring break weeks right so what if we what if we plan for a the week of April 8th yeah yeah Carlos would that work for you see than you yeah okay so the week of April 8th um Jonathan can you let us know what AA what's available there uh pretty much Monday Wednesday I cannot that Wednesday the one day that I cannot that's my wife's birthday I be hanging out with you I could you be what what maybe Thursday there's another meeting at 6:00 p.m. but we can do a 5 to 6 maybe I don't know okay the Thursday the 11th 11 Manny do you have a preference the 8th or the 11th okay Carlos and Thursday Thursday okay yes so Thursday you said from what time to what time from 5 to 6 theree six so Thursday 5 to 6 cool and we're meeting here mhm awesome sweet sweet sweet thanks for that guys I appreciate that no put on that um I'll go over then what I did throughout this month I guess regarding this so Anna G Mendes I was reached out by their career development person on a completely unrelated not um just said she wanted to see if she could work with the EDC because she said she's done it before in the past and in other locations that an Mendes is working with us in the town to do sort of like Career Development events right so she said what they've done before before is like hold mock interviews with certain companies that are here you know what I mean and see how that would go for the students um or do something along the lines of like a panel discussion with certain Business Leaders in the town um things like that like just working with the students there and helping give them a little bit more information about you know the town and working here and just kind of working in general it's kind of a give back sort of thing so I figured maybe it would be a cool thing to kind of reach out into um so I just want to see about something that we could you know what you guys thought opinions I personally think it's kind of cool and also it gives us a kind of a way into energy Mendes you know we're kind of giving back to them for you know letting us use their facilities which by the way I have the contact for that as well it's Marcel who was on the podcast a couple months ago so I'll give that to to you guys I guess or to Jonathan to share with the subcommittee okay and then Marcel's the director of the campus so she's the one to talk to when it comes to events yeah yeah so she's she's the person for that and then like I said I'll reach out again to the career development person and see um do you guys have any anything on that just want to see if there was any input or anything I personally think it's a cool idea but so you're do you want to like is the goal to include Marcel as part of the business boot camp no no no this is they have their own completely separate Career Development stuff and they just want to work with the town to feature certain businesses and help their students so I figured sure exactly exactly sort of thing so I figured sure yeah it would be cool so I'll reach out to her now and I just let her know she got the EDC on her back whatever and you know from there absolutely cool and then Marcel is just the direct ctor of the campus so when it comes to doing events and things like that she's the person to talk to like she's the she's the big cheese Okay cool so we're good there um when it comes to potential speakers um I don't know how many of you guys were at the chamber meeting this month but it was surprisingly really good like and people were actually very interested in what was being spoken about it was about um um it was oh yeah they're all talking about workman's comp and employer like you know how to be EMP employer relationship employer relationships exactly and it was um you know two local attorneys that have an office right here in Miami Lakes and it was it got some of the most interaction we've seen from the chamber like people ask them a lot of different questions about you know pertaining to their business and how to make it work when it comes to work's comp or oh with my employees can I do this da so I you know I after the meeting I spoke to them and said hey I think you guys would be perfect for the boot camp you know like what we're going for now which is more local handson people asking questions direct so that was one person um that I thought would be a kind of a cool idea I'll send it to you guys too for the subcommittee and then the other one that I don't have listed here is also she's a professor at an G Mendes and she was actually one of our um she was public comments one she's always a magenta it's Tua go Tua tua's top tips I don't know if you guys have seen her around but she does human resources she's like a human resources Outsource for like smaller companies and things like that but she was telling me she's also willing to be a speaker and you know speak on human resources and how you could do it for your small business and you know and how there's different resources versus you know having to have a person in you know I thought that that kind of aligned pretty well with what we're trying to do too so I told her you know I can't give her the double thumbs up for me but that I'll you know do this and I'll push it out and let you guys know so I'll give you the information for Gloria and suale that were at the chamber lunch and I'll give you also um Orga to us as well as Marcella and then hopefully we can get that going you know and that could be like a a cool thing um cuz what is it it's March right now so we're still have a decent amount of time but even then I want to have time to push it you know decent amount of of weeks to push it and also do it on Facebook and stuff like that and this time around we've learned from the last time you know I want to have plenty of time I mean we said it there at the chair meeting Jonathan remember that of the best events you've had is when there's a lot of time you know to push it so I want to be able to have to be able to push it and then not lock it down like we did last time you know like just leave it open and push it you know and see what happens we have the space now energy menes we don't have to worry about it getting too crazy because of here you know and last time it didn't you didn't even get the full amount you know we cut it off and we got like half of what actually showed up which is normal that's normal the event bre it's all right cool so I'll send all that information to Jonathan to distribute for the sub committee stuff um cool that covers C so then we'll go now real quick to D so this is the committee chair meeting recap and this has a couple different things I kind of made what we were talking about like the edc's point at the committee chair recap I made about Main Street and how we wanted to kind of bring back events and Life to Main Street um you know just to help the businesses and help things boost because I know you've been working a lot with a lot of the different businesses I've had a lot of them talk reach out to me like George and Vic and stuff like that like different people that are you know just business owners in main stre reach out to me and try to see different things so I pitch it over there um a lot of the Committees were super open to it they understood exactly where we were coming from which was awesome the uh neighborhood Improvement committee is even doing their next like bike event they're going to start from Main Street and use George like BB's as like a little staging point to get coffee and stuff like that which I thought was awesome that's really cool um the elderly Affairs committee wanted me to reach out to the movie theater and see if maybe we can do like a senior's in the movie night or like where they play you know an old movie and the seniors can go watch it and then you know go to the stores after um and then other than that I've got the cultureal Affairs committee they are the ones that have the majority of events I took a bunch of her little papers here if you guys want to look at them and distribute them around that says the events throughout the year on one of the papers oh cool it's up there too on one of the purples papers circled with a little dot like the ones that you could see that are in Main Street um but these are other opportunities for us to work with them and maybe like uh George was saying to work with them and maybe set up discounts and things like that for certain events to tie it in with the businesses and she was super open to the idea she wanted me to go to her meeting but I couldn't that day because of the chamber one but I'm going to go to the next one and I'll you know just to sit through and and talk about this with them and it could be a cool idea to couple it with that and then that kind of leads me to my next thing because I was saying oh that would be an awesome idea maybe we can get at the main streets you know Merchants to do some sort of like discount when they you know if they show that you got you know a ticket to this event or something along the lines but I was quickly stopped by Peterman and and M said that whoa isn't that the job of the Main Street Merchants group but I've never heard of that and I brought it up to Vic I brought up to George no one's ever heard of that yeah no one's ever no one knew that I existed so no idea Merchant group yeah is that even a thing well I meanig you're the to know I mean yeah I mean there's the Main Street Merchant yes and I mean but as far as coming up with their own yeah you know in the past you have different organizations who have always worked with the Main Street Merchants so for example zanta selling their little cards right now right and those give out discounts depending on whatever um we did a wild long EDC did a long time a dining dive remember and we had that all right we found we found them in storage yeah yeah so I mean that was like when I first started um many years hm pass then before that there was a passport too and so you know yes there's a group but also I mean it's only as good as the individuals that are in it that are working towards you know and so like for example last year they did a Halloween event you know it was a select group that actually got involved and they did like trick-or-treating it was a success um but I don't see why the E can't help out with creating something they me I couldn't but I just need to to them coordinate I don't know who that is our property manager Sarah would be able to coordinate that cool cool cool cool and that's made up of merchants it's all the merchants yes just when I talked to the merchants nobody knew that's why like I was asking people they're like I've never heard of that like it's like oh okay just to make sure that I understand a merchant group meaning that all that people that merchant do you know there a marketing fund do you pay the marketing fund right so that's considered part of the merchant group so that is like for example the festival lights that gets put on that is put on as part of the merchants yeah because um Everybody in the business community on that side is very concerned right so uh we have a couple of minutes to try to understand what we need to do as a business how do we support that town that grams and everything to be able to do so we I have trying to look for a presentation that I can kind of show you guys is what we would love to see happening and and what business research we have done with other areas like that Doral markets the Coral Gable Market Weston GO it a lot of other SE towns do it and what we can do ourselves to improve it all the businesses that I have able to speak about it are willing to invest are willing to do it to do the hours to put the events to to do everything so the merchant kind of group is kind of what we have without kind of us understanding that there is or there is a a a a opportunities there and we love to kind of have a meeting possible with everybody with the town and everything and kind of say okay this is what we have this is what we think it could work this is what we need need to do I understand that the Grahams are waiting to do a big push when everything is renovated yeah but the merchants cannot wait well and that's why the farmers market for example when that went away on a Saturday was a huge loss for everyone on Main Street because they saw the traffic drop drastically and I mean if I got one more ask about it I was ready to pull my hair out bad you know funny because that that came up at the last meeting the market how do you how do but the second it was gone they all flipped they all oh my gosh we were wrong right br yeah absolutely trffic yeah oh okay cool now I can people have been asking me to it's in the process is what I always yeah starting this Saturday awesome awesome cool uh I can show you very quick let me just make sure I have it here yeah I just wanted to cover this because is a board there and a chairperson on that group no it's not it's not that formal no it's not that formal honestly there's a lot of new blood on the street which no there is people the theast and I know Sarah is working to create some meetings for the summertime especially because it's slower time um for everyone and so it's like really kind of rev up in the fall and winter and everything we could maybe invite again that's what I'm wondering is there like a way that we can help coordinate see what their goals are go yeah because like like I said a lot of the like Main Street Merchants just didn't know that there was like an official group you know that they can kind of work with and you see where that you know the official group is really each other I mean at the end of the day it's every that's on the street you know so and we encourage it in fact every time there's an event or an activate Festival of Lights we encourage our Merchants to get involved and you know activate their their storefronts there's you know it's an opportunity we have the my cards for the Cure which is coming up in April 7 that information's been going out you know this is an opportunity again foot traffic you know you and I won't lie there's many that will have their doors locked and closed on that Sunday and it blows my mind um but to each their own right um and how everyone runs their business and we can't tell people how to run their business either to be honest understand uh for what we have better and people that have come to us and trying to figure it out I'll say I don't know 10% probably I don't know the total of number because there's different business right everybody has like you say but the majority and the ones that I think are more influential are willing to do whatever it takes absolutely so they are willing to you know put them together that the events then putting uh the efforts that put more marketing funds if necessary but they wanted to do something right rather than nothing so um this is not the whole thing right but the pro the project to revive and drive um you know it has certain overviews like you know with your teners the market research the marketing improvements uh community events uh Crow traffic improvements uh future of Main Street um it has all the market research with downtown Dale pen Brook Pines Garden City Dalal coconut wall Coconut Creek Weston Town Center what they have done and what the events are looking like um you know what could be the marketing Improv of what actually could happen right we had to main main thing of everything in my opinion is we need to advertise outside Miami Lakers I understand Miami Lakers come to most of the events that we create but we need traffic to bring from other places to see the SE I understand that it's probably right now not the best place to come and visit because the way that is structure and and all of those things but we need to do it I think we have the space we have the opportunities uh the businesses that are there on the area are are very good is very good L is very good the coffee place is good the corner the pizza which is doing great with a with a thing so it is it has a lot of opportunity every time that we bring people from other cities Western Kendall stuff like that they love it right they just love it but they didn't know that that existed they you know so the only way to do it is creating a campaigns together with the city the Grahams that businesses we all push it and and I think it's very urgent uh because a lot of the people that are on that area on those two streets are I think on their last trust and and I think that's going to take a big toll if we let it happen because yes because it's going to be very more it's going to be more complicated I think everybody's excited to do it and I think get the opportunity to kind of push it and and and and and they have been best you know a lot I think you have a very very excellent point there I mean I can definitely say when it comes to going to restaurants or shops many times I venture outside of Miami Lakes because I know oh I found that this place is over there if I go to that City or to this town you know to go to that place for them you know Miami Lakes should probably do the same you know get people that don't live in Miami Lakes to come to Miami Lakes just for like those restaurants and shops and things to do here you know so I definitely agree that it makes perfect sense to actually try to push this outside of Mi links to draw people here people who are already here are already here we need to bring in more you know I think that's an excellent point yes I think that's what is you know very important we have the thing here you know we can research I can share with you guys people progo as influencers uh I know it is probably a big expense per se but I think we have the resources is that we don't have we haven't put them together we haven't coordinated just a coordin everybody I think that's that's my main point because I know that the city has money because they will be very interested to Market their city right uh I know that Braham will have the marketing funds to be able to do that and I know that everybody wants to do it and all the businesses wants to do it I just don't see a coordination or putting all the efforts together for example Miami L has their their their Facebook page of the town of Miami lak not necessarily that one but the one that mainly focus on Main Street right they have like 1500 followers the town of um uh the Instagram for the Main Street account has 400 followers so we have two accounts none of them say nothing and so let's put together at least once at least we had 2,000 followers and now let's start building together the the following that you know those things I just think that is matter of putting everybody together how to do it I don't know you guys might have more experience than me on on trying to have all of these worked out uh and and I know it's going to be difficult because everybody has different opinions and agendas and stuff like that but I do see a will with the tenance and I think it's important to kind of take advantage of that CU like you say it's very difficult to have putting everybody together to work and everybody has their own opinions their own their own ones and everyone need to pull it but I do feel based on the conversations I have everybody is desperate to do something because they prefer to do something rather than nothing and wait and I think I don't know how to push it more how to where to go from here uh and I think your expertise could probably know because you guys know more Town know the people know the Grahams know this and and that's what I think we should do but I don't know how to continue about yeah thank you yeah can you send me that presentation yeah nice cool um just to wrap that conversation up are we not waiting for like a NTI video from gani as well is that still weren't we supposed to get three you know but at this point uh really like like the project ending just with the one I mean we did that one and there was a sports video I think remember he sent like a sports video make sure that there was a night life one there people there because even this one that we had like agre to yeah but I don't remember how it like I remember things got messy with the whole pain okay so I don't remember how we like finalized get right I didn't remember like aing one of the videos was part of the deal unfortunate because that was part of but uh but all right cool so something to digest because I honestly don't really know 100% either but when it comes to the EDC um that's why I don't really know what we can do like I know we have budget and stuff like that you know maybe we can help in certain ways um or set up some way to coordinate you know what I mean like a meeting right so everybody can with their point you know one of the things that we wanted to do is not come with a complaint as a tenants that's the first thing that we do right hey We complain right we don't wanted this to be a complaint we wanted to kind ofation actions and listen this is what it needs to be done what do we need to do you know these is things the city has certain uh um not just funds but resources they have marketing departments the grams have marketing departments we have marketing departments but everybody's of working on their own without an straty can I ask would it be out of place if the economic development committee was to host kind of like you know how the blasting committee gets together and like you get a notice as a resident like if you want to you know speak up on this on this meeting you can go and St in this time would it be out of place for us to host and let's say moderate a meeting of the Main Street Merchants along with you know uh the you know the property manager for Main Street um to kind of facilitate a conversation and the CD as well because exactly and that's what it is it's to facilitate convers I mean you know to put that we could put that in report oh okay I think a lot of that's actually what I'll say like the overlap between the events and Main Street and you know what can be done to like have a boost like an injection of of life um is really just like having like good events like I think there's a lot of lost opportunity with with not utilizing Main Street as much as we could MH in terms of like block parties and you know I mean in an ideal world where we that's what I mean to get that going I involves the thing is that though if we like it's unfair to say that we need to keep relying on Town committees like that's what Carlos is saying Carlos is saying is that the merchants of Main Street want to make a concerted effort between them themselves to make something happen and they don't have the direction of who to reach out to to make that happen because they want to utilize Town resources which it seems like there are there's a marketing fund right that they contribute to so like who manages that marketing funds how can they put that to good use because if they keep relying on Comm commes in the town to bring events to Main Street they have no control well I think I I don't think it would be one or the other I think it has to be like like a consol like getting getting the marketing right also having great events also having to his right but to his point there needs to be a concerted effort to bring all parties together to say hey we need everybody on board let's make a calendar of events who's going to be in charge of this who's going to be in charge of that who's willing to contribute money to this and that but that needs to be all in one room yeah so is that is it would it be out of place for us to be the ones to say hey we're the economic development committee of the town we want the town the merchants everybody to make money here let's get all the players in one room yes and facilitate a conversation yes so that and and you guys figure it out we're not the ones that are going to figure it out for you but we're going to bring everybody together for the benefit of the town and and that's the only thing that right now we have and what we're trying to do is just like we say it's not complaining it's not who did who didn't do it is this is what it needs to be done how do we need it how do we put everybody together to do it how do we put a special committee you know like whatever it is but I know that that the town has resources I know that gr has resources it's just not you being utilized it together concertedly I don't think that hurts Main Street used to be I've been in Miami Le for 18 years okay and I remember when I just got here everybody was talking about ministry right and 18 years ago right and every time that I spoke with somebody about Ministry I it's where I used to be as a kid doing this that but now nobody knows about and I think is what is our you know is our downtown yeah and we're letting it die yeah so it's we got to do something because I think it's the center and is what is going to be in people from other places to know about it our efforts are being puted and we've been talking about most of the year is like how we bring businesses to invest in Miami in Miami Le you know we have the website and stuff like that if they don't see people if they see empty spaces if they don't see nothing they're not going to talk they're not going to come and you know doesn't matter what we do what we put on the website is they're not just going to and I think we're in a certain point B on the conversation that I have be able to have uh that is and and you know one way or another we have done our part on bringing the people to the corner because it's easier for us we have more parking we have more visibility we have a bunch of events and stuff like that and even though we're not doing as how we supposed to or how we wanted it we're a lot better than other but because we have run people from other places my main marke money is not invested in Miami invested inar West even Kendall in other areas so the events I try to bring is to bring people here we have C works we have been able to fill out the place we have be able to do it same thing can happen with Main Street with a 10x because it will be all the other businesses we'll be the time we'll be the you know those things and I know it works so aside from aside from the property manager who else would have to be in that room for decision- making purposes on you know how money is spent I mean aside from the property manager and the merchants is there anyone else Town related or gram related that would have an interest in being in that room think the Comm Department okay getting a getting a feel on we do have the shot miam likes account it's just it's just like we don't have enough um I guess power to like yeah content and that's what I also really you can work with businesses yeah not every not every business on Main Street has we can provide you a bunch of content for example right no one's ever suppli content to main about Main Street to us to be honest we send emails out constantly begging do you have events do you have promotions do you have anything going on and it's radio my crazy we need to do something that's different than I mean if it's one fabulous event whatever it's one you know to like a little bit with you I mean I live here too and I go there and it's done it's really sad Cur right the cars cured do bring a lot of weat yeah right and and everybody that day makes great we get that back flow and everything and we know that that day we got to have extra extra uh employees uh Halloween same thing I know that in Halloween I had to have extra things so I know those events do work and the farmers market for the people on that corner have been working more than I was expecting for us we didn't even feel it that we have the farmers market right but in those other ones talking with them is like you know we have suffer our souls got going down this much this much this much and I'm like okay I didn't know that it was so powerful to the other businesses not necessarily to them the farmers's market itself yeah but I is new I can't believe that I can't believe that it took losing that for people to realize like I mean it's people foot traffic and and the other thing that we do I don't know if is the right setting or stuff like that but the movie did that they have invest a lot of money on it which is a lot better than the other one before but their management it's terrible it's terrible it's run down you know one of on on on on on on building out right but the management is the crowd that they bringing is wrong so it's not actually they're not advertising people now don't know that there is a movie theater there so it's affecting the businesses rather than helping which is supposed to help and supposed to Rin the traffic supposed to be in that so I think it has to be a concern of kind of I don't know how to push them to I me that's hard because you can't force them to do that doesn't matter I mean I think getting together is important but let's put it this together that same movie theater is the one that is a Brickle city center right which I didn't know cin yes or cmx I didn't know that but I have been on the on that movie theater and my experience is totally different so why canot it happen here so it's you you're talking about straightening PRI priorities like getting people in line and right having One Vision yeah I I I always say uh it could be a good idea to bring up to council because if you're talking about like a town hall um like I don't think blasting has ever had something that we've particularly like like participated in outright like when we had the blasting when there was a blasting meeting I think in um it was I don't know it was PSN I don't know where it was but um was the like the the blasting of board was not like an official sponsor or an official anything so it it was just something that you know related to the town so when I say bring it up to to time for maybe it's a sunshine meeting maybe it's a workshop maybe it's more than just like yeah You' want to get the town involved in a certain way Beyond just the EDC like something that is and that's why we also wanted to kind of say okay these are Five Points that we wanted to begin with how can we get those points because we don't want to have it in in the meeting right right now we already spoke everybody's in agreement yeah it need to be done but nobody does nothing yeah and that's going to continue to happen and summer is coming and when summer is coming business is struggle leaves right and and and I think this particularly because everything that has been happening with the count and we can talk about a bunch of things it's going to affect more than previously so if we don't put ourselves together I think there's going to be a lot of people leaving and it's going to be harder to fill it out and at least they want to you know that's I think for me the most important right they want to do it they they really do they they they they wanted it doesn't matter if they had to work as hour it doesn't matter if they got to plan the whole event uh I may be completely wrong because you know they some people can't talk about it that they wanted to do it and they're not really do it but I feel that it's an opportunity yeah no I agree with what what Romy said I think fits the best that we as the EDC can at least provide the opportunity okay you know for that to happen that I don't think we can really like you know we can't really force it down anybody right but we can provide an opportunity for everybody to kind of coordinate and have a chance to develop an action plan as a team but like Jonathan said I think this is something that I'd probably pitch to the council and see if we can make it more of an official thing to have we probably need somebody from the town not like volunteers like us that would need official Town people the town for funds and support yeah why a lot bigger of a thing correct yeah that's why it's a big thing it is because you know that's what I'm saying there is the resources they're just not being used correctly in my opinion or to the same goal you know I get you cool is GNA benefit everybody everybody the town because the town is going to be able to charge more taxes blah blah blah blah blah you guys already know everything right that GRS are going to be able to rent all the spaces faster Etc business are going to be doing more money they're G say yes open something in Miami Lakes whatever but I think it's retail food proba food F and Retail both for and Retail yes the problem has always been unfortunately retail the food thing actually is pretty good I think you know going around town but the retail is has always been an issue here Andrea knows that like anybody else here we can't they can't keep those those firms here you people come food giving you an example underground right uh which I didn't know that existed until last year on cure for cars for cure I was walking watching the cars this the store and I look at it last year and i' been here for a long time uh and I didn't know that they exist I bought some things for my kid and stuff like that I didn't know and he suffers a lot when he doesn't have traffic yeah if he doesn't have traffic people don't know it don't stuff like that and which one is this I mean underground they shoes and andir and stuff like that more for like a younger specialty and stuff like that street know where that is right that place yeah but uh but again that that proves a point that's why I think it would be good the place that was there before yeah yeah yeah no but I'm just saying like just uh like there's no reason for you to go there is what we're saying like you you had no reason to be in that part of Main Street because there's nothing going on there you wouldn't even know right and what we're saying just to do stuff I think there is sparking we can kind of combine the whole thing right people can gross together work together but there's no reason right right now with a closing team it's kind of it's kind of not allowing people to it's no uh welcoming it's not doesn't welcome you to walk right now yeah the weekend when they Clos and stuff like that it's all dark stuff like that I know that there was a grant that he was already given for the lighting on Ministry I don't know if that's going to happen uh I under that was my understanding that even the city not the city the Miami day I believe already had granted a a a money for lighting on on Main Street I don't know if it is true or not I hear it I don't know okay but that will be great because that will be a letter my more Lighting on it uh and that was a way to kind of vacue it and I think it's mainly events trying to figure it out how to bring good traffic to it advertising that my five s yeah no thank you for that thank you for that man I think what we can try to do is from my perspective at least try to do that Council report or in the council report try to get that meeting that Romy was saying set up like a big coordination meeting I would love to get the cultural Affairs committee there too because um it's Felicia right from the cultural Affairs or no right because she was telling me that she remembers back in the day being a part of a lot of the events in Main Street like for example like CU I kept bringing it up in the meeting cuz I remember vividly when I was a kid Radio Disney come and I used to love that as a kid I thought it was awesome like you I was going out do little dances and stuff cuz the little area outside of monitos used to be like bands would play there in that outside area and uh so she said she used to be a part of that and the cultural Affairs committee was a part of that so that's kind of why she wanted to get involved and say oh cool we would love to bring that back she just had a lot of the creative people from the from the cultural Affairs committee as the years went on you know they would drop off or they' retire here and there the town also took a stance of moving events to town properties so a lot of things got moved as well okay okay so maybe we can revisit that that's why we can revisit that and and I that's what I think I think that is a bunch of um things that they have pushed right a lot of other increments on on requirements insurances Town asking for a lot of permits and stuff like that I think in order to make it easier for everybody to create those type of uh activities and stuff that let's find a middle point because at the end it's you know everybody struggle to be able to do or they just they say I have to do all of that not not doing it yeah you know like I would like to do a lot of more bigger events like H singco May for example right A lot of them we have the structure we have everything I can do it one every month just thinking about the harder that I had to do that I do it every year I don't no no I try to minimize it and make it smaller that let's not put a a a stage let's not because this is going to require that so I make it smaller and it's because all the hit that I have to go through it which I'm going right now that's why I remember it you know right and I'm like how I get a permit for a full year let's do one for the whole year and I can do these events more often I can do concerts we have the contest to be able to do outdoor concerts of things and like that's working with town I'm assuming at that point right Jonathan Comin Comin a combination I think it all ends up going back to exactly was saying cool cool so I will try my best I'll pitch that at the council and see if we can get something that's official you know I'll ask the council too for their opinion maybe they have a good idea of how we can do this and for everybody that I have able to spoke that he has a a a I don't know a position or I don't know how they say POS a position s everybody is like willing to do something yeah you know they want to and every everybody wants to but nobody knows how do it and you know and streats that St that way yeah no I agree I think it would be important to talk about in the report no for sure this seems like it goes beyond just see Co and I don't want to drag the point on too much longer but no no yeah I think had PR in August we had our survey go out of events in town it was about came about food music culture and you know some people can interpret that in their own way and in my opinion that looks like something completely different I don't think it's you know you're you're old you know that may have work in the past I think it's you know you're again like a block party on Main Street and like food and bashes and like you know our culinary Bike Tour is so successful and it's a paid for event like it's really no surprise because you know nowadays people wanting then food music fun like outing so I think it it it all comes back to you know measuring the priorities of the citizens and and seeing what we can do to not only have that but because whatever Miami Lakers now like our neighboring C cities those residents like it too so if we can get some of that and stop the bleeding and and there is and there is like little things that they could be done like giving you the example I think I think SC they put those umbrella the other way everybody has see their pictures yeah everybody know yeah yeah I know what there as simple as putting that right there everybody wants to come and take a picture right there remember the moon in craw Gables yeah we've been thinking about how we can do like installations really yeah a lot of the conversation comes back to money and it's like like yeah things cost money that's fine but we have to commit to something you know we can't so I I think it's going to cost more money then you know you're not to at the end of the day it all goes back to yes you got to coordinate and see if there's ways that everybody can because there is money available like you're saying in all these different sections so it's seeing how we can make it work in the ways that people want it to but all right cool cool thank you again Carlos thank you Romy too for the idea that's awesome you guys are the ones that do everything here I appreciate it I'm just here to to to say letters up next is e the so this is the this kind of goes back to the farmers market this probably isn't as big of a point anymore that it's the uh remember we were talking about maybe having like an Advertiser tent in the Farmers Market to help you know bring extra foot traffic to the businesses we kind of discussed that this involves talking to the farmers market themselves and seeing how much it cost to rent a sand and then if we can do it in our budget right yeah but now that it's moving back I can just ask on a Saturday or do you know in or no no right I I don't know do know the farmers market is very in tune with helping all new businesses and working with them I don't I think he gives them spr I don't depending Diego is very really like business oriented and that's I mean that was one of the biggest you know things when he stopped because I mean he's the first one for any event and activity trying to think outside the box and he's been bringing all kinds of things but you know cool yeah may be cool to have a conversation with him one day yeah no maybe come visit one of our meetings yeah yeah idea that yeah yeah that would be super cool I'd actually appreciate that is it is it difficult to do the farmers market like on Main Street so you have the market on the street and back is the traffic on Main Street every I would say 50% of the merchants on Main Street do not like it when the street gets closed and they come in with the pitchforks um so you know it's the balance right and that's why that's why it's on Sunday and that's why it's on Sunday because many the ones that are to not care for the street to be closed are not open on suay right so they don't get affected and those that want to be open and care about getting foot traffic and getting business underground are open and that's how you get business right it's being open yeah um and more traffic correct so you have the market on on the street then you have Forefront across right it's not actually on M Main Street but you have people in front of your business because you're buying something yeah but I mean we work really hard with town to bring the farmers market to Main Street um area I mean that was months of conversations I feel like with Willie trying to get that all worked out um yeah I put releas to the contract yeah yeah but that's I mean that's been one of the nice part of that relationship um because you know I call it like a triangle right it's the town it's it's Diegos the market play and the ram companies because it's providing parking and you know it's all cross right and so that was a I can give you the content yeah yeah I don't think it hurts I mean we it's worked great with the chamber and the BNI and the EDC that we all just work together and we're all friends and we openly talk about everything I love to do the same thing for Main Street that awesome for heend the farmers market so it coincides with the event he brought his own flights he did his own thing to light up so that it really you felt def bu that night lights and um yeah cool no awesome so then you'll reach out to him is that what is that what we're doing with this point like are we are we going to push for an Advertiser tent or you're going to talk to him and see kind of where I'll reach out to him and see what if he has any cool ideas or maybe he says oh I already let them put up signs whatever that's all I'll reach out to him and see what he says you know maybe it's something that's oh I already got that I thought the idea was that we were in get a tent or a spot so offer it to a new I thought that's what I thought the idea was he already does that back to I was going to say maybe it's maybe it's us just heralding whatever he's already doing you know if people feel like they're not finding out and pay an extra spot for him to Havey you're in the business would you like to take this Saturday and promote yourself for whatever cool yeah so I'm going to do that I'll reach out to him on my end and see if we could do something I'll let John the not to distribute it around that who knows like Andrew saying maybe he's already got it covered you know and it's maybe it's just letting the businesses know sort of thing cool I love that I mean that's how laosa came in they got a t before they opened yeah idea in B Dentistry they've had tents you know I mean like all the new business that came in we kind of encouraged and told them as well um so they know so that's a good point you know so people understand what is in the right cool awesome and then I guess the little last little thing is f the council report we kind of covered it that I'm going to talk about that coordination meeting I took down some notes or like some pointers if you want me to go for it yeah uh attendance okay is that fair yeah I know we have our U concerns about Sumer attendance uh the stationary that we're going to get or not stationary like the pins and the pull-up Banner maybe like just a yeah uh that I'm sorry what do we I'm lost what are we discussing yeah the EC remember the Committees we do a report to the council one of person I'm sorry you're recapping yeah weing good points that I can bring up I appreciate that me makes my life easier do we have the numbers that we can announce like as far as the networking events like how many people have been coming to them um that would be nice to to the event Bri I can gra that I think I did that last time I mean I can do that that was a good that's a good idea uh events looking to collaborate with from the cter league commit chair meeting maybe you could bring that up and then tie it into the the Main Street EDC uh staff business like own Hall idea and briefly explain what we're what the committee wants to do with you know again injecting that life back into Main Street cool in ourc event but we're yes oh yeah surprise in case later we need to ask something to be moved to coordinate a meeting so we all have a meeting you know yeah that'll be the big thing to try to coordinate a meeting and then I'll let them know that it's from the perspective of want the town involved too so it's going to be a little bit more than just EDC you know actual town so I don't know that's why I'll let the council kind of tell me what's the best way to get that going whe like how you do that security there's private right on M yeah maybe the T commit to a few you know some additional law enforcement or something on event days I mean I guess yeah but let's see like I rather do bring the events first and then the cops after I guess coffee with the cops no but thank you for that we have we have think about it we have also think about it like they may not have like you say the main power right the department ised to that and we are willing to do our to put our pric per se yeah so we got you know I don't know get the T we get the T we gotta get that we get that you know I'll get it set up we just I just hope that once we get this set up that the Main Street businesses show up you know what I mean I'm sure they will well that's we got to get it set up and you got to give them a month's notice and pass out and emails and Carlos is going to go knock on every single door Carlos you gotta get ready to run for mayor and like you know maybe not this election cycle but the next one cool yay chamber announcements yeah chamber meeting is April 10th and I kind of did this agenda quick towards the end so I didn't get the chance to look at other announcements I don't know if there's anything else going on in the town next month be April toil CE dead stre no no no no no we changed it March 30th is sprinkling uh yeah tivities oh sorry it is I'm sorry the Spring Fling is one March 30th March and that's by whom activity task force the what is I had some me [Music] ped yes it is by the way the next guy is Mario nap who is the I think he's the new sheriff or something like that it's saying here right it's oh is that how pronounced no enunciating for Manny Man new share position within the count is that actually out of
