season tickets for the uh grand opera and then the um also the Jazz um but it's just the traffic and Miami's traffic is gotten so bad that I'm like I'm like I need to to attend events here in my community so I'm all like devoted to like support you guys and help as much as I can because I believe that you know you don't have to drive all the way to downtown yes bring art home yeah welcome just the Orchestra but he was zooming into the musicians and he had a lot of nice shots of the different musicians and so forth um other than that you know it's like we're hoping to continue doing the event there um the next items I I'll mention possibilities of bringing um improving or so um other than that I think uh I haven't heard any negative thing except that you know know we need you know conduct and I mentioned it to to um Sandy from the S of Americas and she said that they're working on but it's like three years in a row and I think we pay a lot of money I know have doctor is not something that is you short Change on that yeah it makes a big difference and and I think the selection of music has changed too yeah don't you think Charles yeah it's not what used to be when they we had the conduct less and less people less less and less people yeah but I have good news next it book yeah yeah everybody seemed very pleased we had about 20 22 23 people that showed up and uh everybody raped about the Persian food that one from Gel they thought it was something unique something different uh the author margin was great her her personality and her demeanor and she's very to very down to earth very down to earth so yes and she took her time and uh everybody was very pleased and um I sent me an email of someone that wrote her an email I don't know that the person from here from Miami Lake and she was super happy with the event and she hopes that we continue I mean I I haven't finished reading the book I'm almost done but her her book does the stationary station book The stationary is is I highly recommended I mean there's two part and I mention it to her that you're reading and then you're leaving the moment that's how good she is I mean I think she has a very bright future as an author and I'm looking forward to to leing the other I lion women of the lion hope that you know mention to see if we can get local offer um we need to work on that we have a whole year to do it so let's see what we can do I mean I love the on The Zo it doesn't cost anything but people want to well with a $200 budget you can't do much we can get concert thank you AA okay concert in and so we're hoping that if you you have email list you send it out to your to your friends and tell them it's a concert in the park on Saturday night at Veterans Park and uh we just just bring your blanket and your Refreshments so we're going to have a few food trucks for those that don't bring the food and you sit back and she's so Bal that I can tell you during the night she's going to play something that you like you know we try not the pigeon hole artist and one kind of music when we have a different variety of people there so I've heard in three or four of her Concepts or or her her music at different places and she can play the highbrows she can play the country Wesson she can play the Ry Blues she can play the 60s the 70s the 80s so I'm looking for a good only thing I was asked to out and through the chair is that when do we make a decision the weather as you know looks like to me we may have some difficulty we faced that we faced that before and so uh we'd like to have a contingency uh on hand with the town as to when do you you know when do you pull because once you know we past 5 o' you know we I must have to go um we've kind of always talked it out with the chair okay so all right I know you guys let us know I I think the earlier the better because you're going to save yourself on cost if if possible you know for some of them but like obviously the day before that for dat because if we're going to still lose the money then we might as well just take the risk and keep going yeah and and they're not going to put their equipment out there either they def they will make even if you guys are okay with it they will make the call by the time they're doing stop check if it's not sick they will not I'm just saying it wouldn't kind of like for us to cancel it like the evening before right when you know how our weather is yeah right but that's what I mean at that point though like there is you're limited in terms of promotion of what the town can do in terms of sending out cancellations and stuff like that that's why I say Friday 12 p.m. if you need staff resources for that that takes got so that's just something to keep in mind um but if you want I kind of want to see what the consensus is with you guys is the board um let me know um are you okay with just having that conversation with Charles and based on his findings with Felicia with whoever um including the janitorial staff we have a pack of 200 cups dinner plates dessert plates napkins forks knives and spoons which came to $200 uh we have Argentinian flags that we're going to put on the tables we also have a big flag that we're going to hang Bri's wife is going to give us the arched balloom she's donating that Dustin is putting uh he's putting 300 in from his company and good good yeah yeah really so we did very well with this and we were asking and this is just a suggestion uh we were talking about if the committee members like if we wore black pants and white shirts we have a uh we can get scars for you know that you can hang put around your neck or under your collar of your blouse or your sweat or whatever you want to wear it's even the flavor of colors yeah that was good no it's all included it's all included in this it's all included in the total cost so and what are we putting on I mean aside like a black I got that what are you giving us a scarf an Argentinian an uplighting and we um we went to Total Wine and instead of buying the wine the total wine we went direct to the distributor and the wine that was $15.99 a bottle a Total Wine he's giving us 24 bottles of wine for $1.99 a bottle which brings the course to $287 and you have the red and the white the red they only have argentin only has one the Malbec we have Malbec and then we have the tones okay perfect which is the white wine perfect so have you accommodated ice yes I we provide it they provide I yes you have to call V yeah so I hook it and he'll bring it and we also have water that's left over from two cases of water I'll double check um I pulled some water today I don't know if it was go but if it was I'll just make sure that charge goes to the committee that it I don't know I I I traffic and so forth so they were very um happy that we um that we proposing and trying to collaborate with them um also I gave them and I know somebody wanted to read what I presented to them to give them a history of of what I have more Let the record show that there was I gave you a copy at I but I need record so so that's basically the history of of how main like uh came about and um so basically can I can I Bor it again so um so basically you know is is we're bringing back an event that that it was it was like a test um but we had a very limited budget this was 2005 so the the budget has increased um I I reached out to about 20 performers and I still still coming along um I um I asked them to to register in our database we have um we I I presented to them basically what we're looking for and we're going to look for performers artists you know we're trying to see we can do also like street art like someone that comes in and and and and I think they have a festival in in Brower that they come in and they CH they do beautiful artw or throw tomatoes like in Spain but what we want to do is a combination of Music art um performers dancers everything bring back main so I think um on the GRS um I I from all the stuff that I got from the registry which is is is this and growing um we I'm putting together a a spreadsheet with the with the contact numbers with all emails uh websites and the good thing about this is even I'm doing most of the work we don't have to pick a b they they want's paying for everything they said don't worry about the money the Chamber of Commerce have money and the merchants and the GRS but they need basically a budget so as soon as I finish the the the spreadsheet I want to send it to them but we we're in control of you know this this part of the so we get the credit because it's our event but at the same time they're helping us which I think is something that would you know help it's nice both committees and this is going to happen on a Saturday night or Friday Saturday they're still working on it and we need to sit down with them again for them to pick if it's going to be twice month from January to June when the weather is better on on a Friday night that's what we used to have we used to have Friday night like from 7:30 to 10:30 we're asking the performers to give us a cost for three hours we knowbody is what7 to 107 yeah so uh as soon as I get you know confirmation of what they want to do as far as the the the time because they're the ones who who need to take all this and maybe spend only two hours you know but because I know Shas does I think on Friday nights or Saturday nights yes they have all kinds of activities there but we want to bring it more into Main Street right so they can they can people can walk right which we is where monitos they used to be where monit here I I explain what the history we um where monitos is is um I don't want to go too much on it is that used to be are Gazo we call it the Gazo and I don't think it had the fence so the band will sit there and performs and like I said I'm still searching for more bands and and there're I mean people are eager to to come and play of course I had like I said a whole list and we in the database we have at least seven or eight bands of it and one of them um I think it's too expensive for them to do we may use them for a you know we'll talk more about it later but uh it's a good band and I heard them perform so I think doing the registry which it was dead for a while now we have a lot of choices to be that has been you know something that but I'm very happy that we have their their you know their support and they I mean the virtues were very happy you know regarding doing something on Main Street and we we may do it some people say let's do it where the tree is I don't know if the band could play there it has the connections or anything electricity or do way like when they do the cancer car cure that they close out I think it's between simos and right yes and and where the G is no that Street St there it could be a one person or two person I want to have like more I just one person playing they do you know Palm Beach in po that's why they have a little musician there go by and sit down and we can provide chairs you know so we we still working on it those events are going to be from January to June yeah we might do something for for Christmas because I know a band that used to play for us and and um and even even um this schp may may be interested in per there but there's a band that I'm trying to reach out to them from the way back I don't know if still exists that um that could do something I mean from from January to June when the weather is nice and then maybe December for Christmas I know they they do the Festival of Lights and they do bring bands and so forth but maybe we can work with them on that too mus so last like I said it's is a is is is works it's still you know progressing so as soon as as soon as we have a date it's going to be once a month we used to do it once a month because of our budet or twice a month uh if it's every Friday is too expensive especially the cost ofan one musician is $250 an hour so imagine whole B do we have the budget for no it's not us not no the performance Chamber of Commerce and the merchants it sounds like fun okay so posted on on the progress on that and I'm really excited I think I'm been having a lot of fun you know contacting people and um okay let move on to the next item um new business AA which is part of the chur report um report to the council I I think were recording in October now that's why I put it together I'll double check not in November October fine we for the next month so I put together the report you have in package and we need to review it uh and edit whatever needs to be edited I think we I think I guys yes rep the second Tuesday month October 8 okay good um so just so uh you guys know that means minutes for this meeting are due by the 27th of this month okay got that and the memo the memo here no this is the report just the thing that says uh I'll share minut no I'll share okay so but I think I we also need to to have the attendance so I need an update because I I have like a very quick one that I did some months back the attendance is you guys are supposed to add on here you can grab that Black History Month 3,000 then the women of Distinction 3500 P picture for Mom 350 and the qu ficient tournament um did we increase it from 500 or no where the Father's Day fishing no so basically um other than that I think that's the only change we have right and you need this one for when everything's do by 27th for this mon September 27th yes okay so you need minutes the memo on the report the book reading uh oh what I was thinking in the holiday book reading because we did this last year besides the Mrs CL magic show is to reach out fortunately modeling is not here uh to reach out to one of the schools to see if we can have a Christmas Caroline or holiday Caroline we did it one time and it was very very you know pretty the kids you know can't even s so we we can talk about that you know we still have time but we need the school to to be aware of this and then basically I talk about the the collaboration with live and we've been going to workshops and so forth I okay you good was told that I needed to bring this to to you for approval um I was thinking about it and basically I think this affects all committees so I guess we're we're taking the initiative to present it to the council and just read it and I think this it's fair enough to to say that um you know the way they reot it or changed it is not helping us because we have to you know be quum and so forth and people just don't show up or don't you know is hurting us so especially us because we do a lot of activities and we need to get approval and so forth so please read the memo real quick and then um we can it present this on the right well if we get approve from so basically it's request the council to amend existing committee rules regarding members attendance requirements as to R to the previous rules the the current rule is too linean passing constant absent ISM without any repercussion for those who do not attend the meetings therefore hampering the efficient operation of the committee to make and approve decisions due to the lack of for uh I think I this my sentiment and I think it's it's something that we need to to do because otherwise you know we had to leave in a row and we had a forum and and that you know hampered making decision so so is there a motion motion okay I make a motion to um request from the council okay the council members that the committee rules be amended to reflect um the uh previous rules that we have for attendance second okay I second discussion no discussion I will um I I do want to mention when you guys are going up to council to request anything for example this please pay attention to if they say anything back because sometimes some committee members are under the impression that just because they get the report that means it's approve and staff doesn't go off of anything that isn't a proper motion made by C so I just want to make sure we're all on the saf so if if you're what if when you go up there what you are asking them is to make a motion make sure you're listening for that [Music] um okay um what was the prior that we have the prior what prior rule of three of three abces consecutive three no the year three in the year three invited to the concert uh couple of weekends ago and it was by the people who used to play in the Symphony of the America so I met everybody that used to come so all those musicians uh Charles that no longer in this here and actually I saw two musicians that play that here they were over there so uh it was it was interesting and and um Loreno turis Flores he he used to be The Pianist used to be and uh yeah he's very good so they all there and um we had this lady Charlotte Orel who play Beautiful violence she valdi she was wonderful and she remembers coming to Miami L place so um reene La bonti who's who's worked for the symphony some sometimes they pute up I too much detail on that they have a new new Orchestra called music for America spring for orchestra and and they want to to um come to Miami L and play and believe me I I can share with you the video that that that I took and the musicians and it's fabulous it's like the old days it's like a full I mean even because I noticed in the one that we had here they were mostly male musician which is fine but before we used to have you know female musicians from all over the world and and they were there I said oh God they're here I was like it was like going back to the old days and we used to have the full Symphony playing for us so they want to play for us and U unfortunately we'll we'll make this much and we'll see how much it is that's why I want to start early just going to give a day I want to say to her tomorrow I want to say if we approve this um to to move on and give us a day so we can start planning and getting sponsors because we need a full full year to to get because we never get sponsored for this you know so um i' like to make a motion to propose for next year to use this people and then move on on it I mean I know it's early depending cost and the cost so because right now we're we're paying 3900 so we'll see but this is more musicians before it was paying all this money and we were getting less musicians so we we need to balance it out and if we can get sponsors that'll be even better so uh um yeah you know just make a motion to contact I was going to say if to make a to contact them you guys don't have to make any motions to contact that you just do it well you're the Motions are to approve when you're moving forward yeah okay so I make a motion to approve the proposal to talk to this people and prop you guys approve that exactly are we talking about replacing the other group yes okay well you guys can do too I mean up to you guys is either talk to another group as well so you have two options or even talk to the same one that you're using and see if they can either match it or do better so like that right but again up to you guys if you guys want to do that give give yourself another option is hamb Orchestra we used them a long long time ago and they're very good I I don't know if they so we have I like to use them because this is a big Orchestra expensive on music here instead of like I said driving all the way downtown to to the symph so uh um so we'll just keep that on the agenda for next meeting yeah yeah so we're goingon you know as part of old planner oh Olivia from that used to work with a Senter correct Olivia what's her name last shock s h o c k so Renee the grand writer it's no longer with okay like sh no and I noticed that when I met this lady last night uh the one in financing which I thought from the back I thought it was Renee Rene and her name is Grant so if she's not she doesn't work in the grant department but find anything gr so just oh that's good at least I know je fantastic okay um okay this item I want a table because I I didn't even I have the copy from last year so I'm GNA submit it again and then we can start getting it done so I want to table this and I'll bring it next time I think we have time to work on that and then real quick the a AE um the grand opportunities I've been attending um Workshop via Zoom I think I I so um we can discuss this more I think between the two of us we can have you know bring our our our efforts together and and see work with Olivia this see because I know um um Renee Wilson let me let me give you some feedback on that so you guys are all on the same page um so obviously Felicia is trying to work on getting just additional funding for cultural programming um so as you mentioned I know you guys were trying to attend like a workshop or something related to that so Rene's uh response which is Olivia that information has been given to Olivia um is that the committee needs to put together a proposal like pretty much if you attended already I don't know they would tell you okay this is what the grant is for right they explained and all yeah because we have to attend Workshop you have we have to pick the person to go to the workshop I don't have the time I mean if it's online I can do it in my office but you have to be physically there well you apply for the direction from uh the staff was you guys need to I guess listen get the information of what the grant is giving to see if it's something that you guys would qualify for first of all and if you do feel like you could qualify it based on what the cultural Affairs committee is working on then you guys need to put together a proposal and The Proposal can that's pretty much just an intro what you have put together of the Miami leaks live based on that but expand on it these would be the dates this is the scheduling this is what we would need this is what the dollars would go to like you're putting together a proposal as if they are giving you that funding and once you have that then the Grants Department would go for it based on what you're presenting of that proposal um so we have to like create a summary of what or an information of what is the gr what is that programming that you're trying put then when we have all that information we submit it to with Olivia and she would they will write the ground yeah but they need the proposal from you guys they they they need something that you are aware that you can qualify for that and it can't be I guess the point is it can't be oh we we want to do concerts on nature for example that can't be it has to be detailed out yes well and it has to be done from what she was telling me is they would need months to work on it oh yeah and so you guys really should work on getting that to like eight months before just to give yourself a buffer and make sure you can make it happen the one that I attended they were already for the next F year October and they give unle time but and they were ones that we qualified I I took it on my own and she I took the one in July and she took it on uh yes I I took it this Monday because they they to they have two sessions and it was a zoom session with oh great three members of the cultural Affairs Department yeah and they really have a lot of money available for the municipalities for some organizations for individual artists so they have a lot of money so there the problem is that eight months I think is too long for a f for the county to for their timeline too we have we have to shorten up the our our own schedule because the the gr that the the time that the grand RS is shorter than six months exactly so you guys have to accommodate whatever whatever programming you guys have that fits into that plan for that aort um yeah let me let me make us a suggestion because this is getting very complicated can we not as soon as possible I know she she's going a trip create like a subcommittee that will help put that together and do we need a we don't want to do it during a regular meeting that's something a subcommittee because I know she's very knowledgeable about grants and all that and I can't work remotely even even on a trip because yes I can because I I being attending a master during my trip a remote Master yeah I like to motion that we create a sub committee to review all these grants and and possible you know sponsorship but mostly the grant for the for the from the county or whoever else I mean there there's three sources out there and and um actually when I first took the the the the webinar with them was through my office and they were very happy to work with my mes I've been trying to get the council to put us in the schedule for the council meeting for they can come and explain to them the you know how much money the town can make with cultural events and I was very impressed because I saw one event the the legal cities uh thing and when the lady from from the cultural Affairs for the county was there and presentative they make a lot of money um they count is one of the the most effective ones with our Bassel and all that and we can we I mean those people like Ashley uh I mean I when I took mine and I made a question hey felici how you doing I mean it's like I want to make come make them come here and convince the council how important it is to to get that going but so let's let's make a motion to get that what's the second the second no you made a motion so who second second discussion okay the discussion is that this takes a lot of work I wrote a grant uh years ago and not necessarily you're going to get it you know a lot of people go after it FAL here I got a grant for the county and it was a lot of work a lot of the budget and the budget and all of that fren butter everything you have to talk and then the accountability of it rep result that you got with the a lot a lot love I think I think here it's just gonna be uh he knows what she's doing I I don't really like to get the but she she has the expertise to do it so I would I guess I will make her the chair of that subcommittee and we'll work with her and then we'll set up a meeting and talk more about it and we have a vote in favor oh everyone in favor of the subcommittee yes okay bye work on a day the last comment I'll make on that similar but not exactly the same um I was working with Memorial Healthcare because they reached out as you guys know they sponsored some of your events before they sponsored other events but they really wanted like a concrete sponsorship they didn't want this whole all month or two before we have an event can you please support it they did not want to deal with that because I imagine they deal with a lot of organizations and that's just way too confusing so he reached out asking if we could post something um I'm happy to let you guys know that I was able to confirm $5,000 of a stage sponsorship for Fourth of July already for next year so we're starting off the year strong um unfortunately that is the only funding that I received in terms of cultural affirs events because we don't have a proper schedule so I just really want to emphasize how important it is to have these on the books in advance because I could have included more but unfortunately I don't have anything to work on in total they gave us $18,000 and so a lot of that other money is being spread with other committees 5,000 is going to your fourth of July uh stage and the idea is to elevate the stage so that it's better than the one we had so in other words they just want a package that they say we'll give you x amount of money and you're going to we already told them how we're going to use it for the next year for all the different events so the item that I table about the events calendar I think it's something that we need to bring back on the next meeting select the DAT and then there we can start next but it's not just dates I want to be very clear because the proposal to them is not just dates I need an event because I need to know what type of branding we can offer them and I can only create that based on what the event is going TOS good okay um okay we already did the okay um the agreement I need to table this because I know there's people that that want to get cows and and we need to get this thing [Music] approved um what I what I found out is because I I met I went to the presentation of the library they're doing a renovation and I met the Architects and they I I sent them an email because they they cow scultpture uh is I think the artist already passed away so to make the story short I find out that the Garden Club is the one that handles the the landscape around the cow so my concern was to remove the cow we have a potential artist that wants to do it for free but that cow has to be moved out of there they cannot I mean it's it's uh but I Haven been a I reached out to the to them and and they have responded so hopefully um they're back on vacation because I I send an email July or August and hopefully we'll we'll get the artist to to do the cow you know when they're ready I mean it's because my fear is when construction starts they're going to destroy everything so we need to make sure that we protect the cow's sculture take it out and protect the Landscaping which cow the library one the library one okay so that's something that um that was our first cow actually and and basically um coordinate with the architect and the construction people to make sure that they don't do any damage to so that's something that I have to take into account and when they face the project to to make sure that so that's the only update that I have and then they have to work on the on the that cow was elderly Affairs no that c well Landscaping the Landscaping is the Garden Club because I spoke to Mary L and she told me that they have a budget oh right it was the G sponsored by former um she used to be Miami L Nat she used to be County Commissioner yeah and she was the one who donated that right but you're correct I stand corrected it was the go Club Bri okay any any I have
