##VIDEO ID:T8VdzO9iCYM## [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] e e e e a tentative agenda permanent we need a motion so moved second moved by Melissa Curtis seconded by Casey root all those in favor of making our agenda permanent please say I I those opposed please say no and the motion passes 60 we have no citizens comments this evening um we're going to move on to f stability this is our consent agenda portion of the meeting we have approval of minutes from December the 2nd 2024 Personnel matters and our bill summaries for the month members of the board receive these documents um far in advance and have the opportunity to ask any questions that they have um about them and we move them as a unit unless there is any discussion from is there any discussion finding none I'll entertain a motion to approve the consent agenda so moved second moved by Melissa Curtis seconded by Casey root all those in favor of approving the consent agenda as presented please say I I I all those opposed please say no and the consent agenda passes 60 moving on to our collaborative connect uh connections we have a resolution for acceptance of gifts and um superintendent Eric Olson is going to present that this evening here we are going to accept one arts for uh $722 20 um and this is for the community strings project that happens in the summer and it's for students and adults um Riverside Church um purchased uh 100 or $15 $100 gift cards to Walmart to provide families in need um a little extra um care during the holiday season um monello Lions Club um donated $500 to the Monty pythons robotics team and we also have St Cloud Technica college with $1,000 uh going towards our robotics team as well so and we have them here um in a little bit so um a big night for accepting donations and two of those are to our robotics team and then one to uh to families in need and then another uh to the summer program monello Community strings project very good and we have a resolution therefore be resolved by School number 882 to gratefully accept the following donations Central Minnesota Arts board $722 120 for the mon Community strings project donation from Riverside Church in the quantity of 1500 Walmart gift cards to provide for families in need during the holiday season donation from the mono Alliance C for $500 for the mon pythons robotics team and a gift from the St CLA Technical College for $1,000 for the mon pythons robotics team second we have a resolution by Jeff hegley seconded by Melissa Curtis all those in favor of accepting the uh gifts as outlined please say I I any oppose please say no and the motion passes 60 with much gratitude towards the folks that are donating to a district every month now we're going to move on to our student Representatives report we have Will Sher at with us this evening welcome evening good evening sorry good evening um to start off the agenda we are starting off with trimester 1 um Tri trimester 1 wrapped up the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and try 2 started December 3rd um trimester 1 was a great change in my personal opinion and I believe it was taken and received well by everyone it was a wellth thought out um process especially how difficult it was for the counselors and administration and overall it was a great change while there are some comments as far as um the feeling of it going fast it was still received well overall and next we would like to move to a recap of the Veterans Day program which atni um mced we had Alyssa celic as our guest speaker she did a great job speaking to our high school body um and then we also had both the MHS choir and MHS band perform during this ceremony next we we have the musical which was Legally Blonde there were two showings unfortunately the third one had to be cancelled due to one of the um participants being sick okay now on to winter activities um we're excited to say our winter activities have kicked off in full swing we have the dance team has started their meet they have a meet coming up this Thursday boys and girls basketball have both started boys had a big win against Buffalo last week and and girls had a big win in double overtime against stma um wrestling has started they'll have meets coming up boys swimming has also started and boys and girls hockey um and also this past week um we've added as a part of monola student council we added a Spirit Week along to go with the middle school and elementary schools which um are as following so Monday was pajama day Tuesday is Christmas light Wednesday is white out Thursday is candy cane so wearing striped clothing and Friday is holiday clothing moving on to the blood drive um MHS Honor Society hosted a blood drive for the second year in a row and Senior Alexis gilon spearheaded the entire event 62 people registered to donate including 34 firsttime donors MHS gave enough blood to help 156 people and the were two Memorial blood center buses parked outside the door Memorial blood center supplies blood to over 40 hospitals in Minnesota and Wisconsin and is it and now as a highlight of our school um last Saturday um myself included there were over 75 plus students at our math prep which is an event hosted by the math pod um where students can come early in the morning from 9:00 to 11:00 have a donut socialize with friends um in some cases receive extra credit but also be able to receive help from all the teachers um that teach at monol high school so it's a really good event a lot of kids showed up and there will be four more throughout the rest of the year um yeah and that's it for our agenda yeah report thank you is there any comments or questions from the board for our student reps did you say 156 students gave blood uh yes wow that's an amazing number that's really impressive yeah very well thank you very much and um are you gonna stay for the rest or are you gonna take off yeah it's gonna stay tonight okay wonderful thank you thank you um next we have our high school robotics team um is doing quite well and it sounds like they have an overnight trip request and I'm glad to see them all here tonight this is exciting so Leanne girtz and her team are going to give us um a presentation about their overnight trip request welcome lean hi thank you so much for having us this is a huge privileged to be a new coach of our Monty pythons robotic team um it has been coined the coolest name in the by the way um so yes we are here to um hope we get approval from for our regional tournament that will be taking place in March I'd also like to help an and CJ they are my my co- coaches come on up guys so yeah the reason we are needing an overnight trip is because we will be traveling north um for very early morning uh start times and a multiple day competition taking place in March so what is robotics it's probably one of the Lesser known activities at the monacello high school but we are hoping to revive it and renew it this year um it's more than just building a robot it is programming it is um Team Management it is leadership it is fundraising networking public speaking learning how to speak to adults uh communication the company that sponsors uh robotics is called first it is worldwide and they have coined a term called cooperative so it is the act of having competition but a major cooperation um Peace is involved and we have seen that over the last three months our surrounding District teams have just enveloped us they have um come to our practices they have taught us programming they've gone through our parts they've invited us to their practices it is just a community that um we've just never seen or experienced before so we're very thankful for them so the trip will be um going to the AIS Center in Grand Forks that is 277 miles away um and the reason why we're going all the way to the AA Center this year is uh we've been doing the 10,000 lakes competition the last few years and it just hasn't been a good fit um after talking with other coaches and students mentors um they suggested this might be a better fit for us um so we can move up the ranks a little bit than we have in the past we hope to leave school by 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday and return the evening of Saturday March 15th we do know that this isota uh the weather is a little unpredictable on in in mid-march but we're hoping uh to make it home that evening the number of students 14 or 15 and adult chapons are four uh historic well at least in the last three years well since my older son uh was on the robotics team they've had about five students on the team we have seven freshmen alone this year so to have a team of 14 and 15 is phenomenal and these guys um again the team hasn't really kicked off until that first Saturday in January the last few years this amazing team kicked it off October 1st at UMC open house and they have been going full Speen ahead since and I'm so grateful for them they are a great bunch of kids we went to a huge conference at St Cloud Tech last Saturday and we just learned so much so we're excited for this season our itinerary um again with our mentors from St Michael they kind of are coaching us through the the most uh financially efficient way of traveling so uh we will be staying at a a hotel with free breakfast um we will have robot inspections every morning pit visits that's where our teams go out um they form alliances and um it's where they get a chance to meet the other team so we will have lunch on site at the AIS Center there will be qualification rounds and then again our wonderful mentors have told us about uh all the hotpots to hit free dinners um so we're hoping to hit those and then Saturday our last qualification rounds will be complete uh if we do well we will be asked to continue on to the finals transportation again depending on the amount of um students who are able to commit we will either be using School Vans and hopefully Towing our robot in the trailer we also have to bring our pit which includes all of our tools and because we're the Monty pythons we have a castle as part of our pit so um we need to bring all that as well we've found the sa bridge to be the the most economical um lodging for us where we can have a double room suite for um one of the boys' rooms and we'll have another boys and girls' rooms as well uh distance to the AIS Center is walking distance so we can wake up in the morning bundle up and head over to the AA center after uh breakfast and we just have the cost breakdown which you have in your agenda as well again trying to hit the the free hot spots that we can uh we are fundraising as you saw today we've the team has done a phenomenal job Ella has taken um the Reigns on our fundraising and we've already uh raised over $6,000 I believe I think is the next one so pent has been generous every year to pay for our registration fees which is in the range of five to $66,000 we just received the ,000 St Cloud Community College um sponsorship the $500 lions and we presented to UMC last week on Monday night and had a great tour and they um will be giving us a check for $1,500 as well Costco and Target have each donated $100 um Costco much needed shelving so we can get our robot equipment out of the uh musical set area and out of their way and then Target donated $100 to go toward Xbox controllers so Gavin I totally skipped over the video is it still possible to pull it up we would love for you to take um a moment just to watch 52 seconds of our video so this is what uh the robotics competition is like think final four for robotics it is amazing there are three teams um on each Alliance and the blue team is versus the red teams and they work together there's that coopertition aspect the first 15 seconds the robots are aut autonomous our programmers will program them to perform a certain testas um last year's competition this is actually one of our robots on The Blue Team um they had to take those notes it was a music theme they had to take a note shoot it into a speaker to gain points there's usually a human component as well where uh we had one of our players throwing a note to get it onto a microphone and every year it changes so this year we'll have a new uh set of challenges and we will find out on January 4th so that concludes our proposal for our overnight trip you guys have any questions feel free to direct them to my fabulous team well first I'd like to say thank you for the presentation robotics is an amazing lifelong sort of skill set and I want to say thank you to the coaches um for making that possible for us to have this activity in our little school district here this is really amazing and um I also want to just throw in because it's my last meeting and I can um that the mon Minnesota school boards Association has a very large um conference in January every year at the convention center in Minneapolis there's always a robotic section roped off and they're fighting with their little robots in there so you should think about that for next year um it's in January always so that would be amazingly cool if you could do that thank you um are there any of the students that would like to talk about why you're in robotics or what you're getting out of it anybody brave enough j's got it so uh my older brother he was on the robotics team when he was in high school and he loved it he made some awesome connections and even made some scholarship money towards College uh by being on the team and so uh once he graduated and I got into high school I wanted to follow up in his footsteps I did the first Lego League uh through middle school and that was the next step for me where I wanted to uh continue Robotics and put my skills to use wonderful thank you anyone from the board comments questions any of our students I think it's great to see such a large number students and hopefully keeps growing there's uh skills that you gain in robotics that serve you lifelong throughout future on there it's a really great Club to be in um I don't know if anyone on this board was ever fortunate enough to be in a robotics Club I know I would ever I wasn't um I hadn't invented them when I was in high school dinosaur Club I didn't want I didn't want to I didn't want to age you anyone else on the board but anyways so what I'm getting at it's a really great opportunity it's great to see so many students take advantage of it and the businesses donating to it um the skills that you're going to learn are very unique on and they will serve you the rest of your life um it's a really great Foundation to build from the first year second year how many years have we've been doing it here our team was established in 2013 um we've gone through a few coaches over the last years um and of course the hit with covid so yeah we're excited to to be back in the game this year is is this the only one large competition that you guys go to or is there other ones this is this is our one competition um other surrounding schools do about two or three competitions just for financial reasons we're not there yet um we will be able to have practice times over in Becker they have a like a real-sized field set up and they have invited us over anytime to go over there and practice and then they have other scrimmages um in February that we've been invited to as well so you guys don't Rite into space limitations here or anything you have enough room or you need more room or always a challenge um yes thankfully the musical finished this weekend so uh we now have that space where they were building the set and um Mr pworth and Mr Derby are extremely generous with their space as well so we're very extremely thankful for that well I just want to thank the coaching staff I mean it's a testament the growth um to what you are bringing to the table and going outside the box to find a competition it's maybe a better fit for for us is awesome um and also the partnership with the local districts I really appreciate that and I think that's something that our district does well and we can provide better opportunities because of that and Better Learning opportunities so thank you for doing that bridging that is there any more discussion from the board I have one question quick so you're going on Wednesday and it sounds like on Thursday and Friday are kind of the competition days and then there's the finals Leanne you mentioned is that on Saturday or is that a different weekend yes so that will be Saturday afternoon we take a lunch break and it's this really cool process because each team is made up of three schools so that's when you get to choose which um Alliance you want so we're hoping to make some good connections this year and get to the finals and I do want to say as well which I didn't mentioned earlier um the surrounding districts we have mentors from stma who are coming to be with us because they know we're alone um and then we also have a coach and a couple stud students from Big Lake who are also hoping to join us there so it really I Goosebump it really is just been an incredible experience yeah could you just all introduce yourselves too and then just like your year name year and then or and or affiliation if you coacher I'm CJ gu uh my son Noah's in robotics first year for him uh I'm going to help out with the coaching this year um I got hooked on it actually the two weekends ago when we went to the kickoff the other teams put together this kickoff event where they literally run classes up at St Cloud um and watching the some of them were student leg classes and watching some of the students and what they were able to present to adults I mean it was like I forgot they were students I mean it was incredible um and watching our students be engaged all day long I was like all right I'll help any way I can so these guys sold me on it on ly so hi I'm an um CJ is my husband and Noah is my son so this is the first year that we as a family got roped into robotics um and we're just elated about like all of it all of the stuff that's going to um all of the opportunities that are going to present themselves for the students and the learning and all of that stuff so thanks I'm Jordan gerz I am a junior at the high school and it's my third year on Robotics and my mom Leanne is uh gracefully stepped up to be the coach this year I'm Ella Miller I'm a senior this year I'm doing the fundraising basically all of it um yeah um I do it all so I do the fundraising I'm safety lead uh my dad's in fire protection so that's how I got into the safety lead side of it um I've sent out over a hundred sponsor letters to locals business so we can get sponsors hopefully my name is Arnav Gupta I'm a freshman first year here excited to be here um I'm kayen Jones it's my first year on our box and I'm on the bill team because I like to really work really like to work with my hands my name is Noah G I'm those two's son and I'm part of the build team and the programming team I do a little bit of everything on this I'm Isaac miles uh I'm freshman it's my first year I Ben Benjamin schlangen and uh this is my first year and I'm a freshman Tom Miller uh Ella's dad very [Laughter] supportive Dan miles this is my son Isaac and I am the really loud dad cheerleader I'm Dad here to support thank you to everyone I hope you get a cool t-shirt or something made because Monty Python is that's an amazing name we're planning on it you guys should have some really cool swag with that so got it anything else from the board before we take a vote well board members this is an action item to approve an overnight trip request from monacell high school robotics team as presented don't moved second moved by Mark Branson seconded by Casey root all those in favor of approving the overnight trip request as presented please say I I any opposed please say no and the motion passes 60 congratulations and have fun please come back and tell us about it afterwards did did they broadcast it like live stream or recorded or anything that other grandmas and grandpas could watch it or something so maybe we could put that on the website or you know publicize that so other teachers and students and parents could watch as well that would be wonderful thank you so much thank you ni thanks you and moving on to teaching and learning we have um an action item for approval of some high school courses um from our two High School principes Matt uh cwell and Lorie Hansen this is not the first time the the board has been presented with these courses so this is the final approval night make sure you guys stop off and get some cake in the gym on your way out go eat the food that's in there so welcome Matt and Lori and we'd like to hear a little bit more about these new courses thanks more fun to hear about robotics than it is it was a lot probably tired of us being up here but no that was that's an exciting group to follow um and we don't have to take a lot of time going through all the details because we have kind of done that to some degree but um back with those uh we had 14 courses here the first time now we're up to 15 because we did add that one in the trade class um and uh we're hoping to tie as many to them as to the CTE and um the the robotics Wing that's coming to that too so um yeah it we want to provide all the opportunities we can obviously during the day some of the extracurriculars as well so um Lor was going to read through all the classes so as Matt had alluded to all of our courses aligned to either keran College Planning CTE or including Advanced courses with within some departments um so we had shared uh at the last work session a number of details behind each course but we want to just run through them quickly um in the egg Department we're bringing in food and science a food and animal science B horiculture Landscaping CIS animal science in the art Department we're going to bring in AP drawing the business department business management course industrial Tech we'll have intro to Photography in the PE and Health Department it's CIS Fitness walking which is a partner class to an already existing exercise science course science physics and the trade social studies AP comparative gov and law and society and then under our Universal elective specific to career in College Planning leadership 101 leadership in action and AP seminar we're asking for approval for these 15 courses today knowing full well that we will use enrollment and student survey data to identify what courses will come in in the 25 26 in particular and then some of these like uh the egg Department as a good example this is our next three 1 to threee track so we're laying the groundwork today so that we can build in some of these courses that truly won't hit the ground for two or three more years yet but it gives us an opportunity to work with staff across departments and to lay some foundation and and really start to dig into next steps some are shorter term next steps and some are longer term next steps so with that we are coming with approval for these 15 classes that after today we will start to put some of them into our course catalog and we will start to work at a building level about next steps with building them is there any questions or discussion from the board and again we did have a very Lively discussion at one of our work sessions about this so um we did have lots of participation from the board members uh at that point in time so board members this is an action item to approve the 15 now courses as researched and presented by our two principles um and I'll entertain a motion all moved second moved by Melissa Curtis seconded by Casey root all those in favor of approving the uh monell High School 15 courses as presented please say I I any opposed please say no and the 15 courses passed congratulations thank you appreciate it and and please know I think you got a snapshot of an extension opportunity we're we're trying toing that same passion and those moments of learning with these courses as well so on behalf of monell high school we are very appreciative of just your support and what we're trying to build Korean College Planning CTE just really diverse Pathways for each of our students so please that that's with tremendous sincerity from both Matt and I and it sets a stage well for our next presentation so thank you and our next and as we move along we have Jacob wiltz our new high school um egg teacher who's going to be giving us a uh presentation on Future Farmers of America which will um segue quite nicely into an overnight trip request so I'd love overnight trip requests those are so exciting for the kids so welcome Mr wils appreciate you coming this evening my presentation is actually kind of three parts to it I'm giving you an update on our egg program specifically because that was something very new added this fall um kind of building a little bit off of what Matt Lor did I've also Gary rck asked me to speak to you guys to introduce like what this FFA uh co-curricular activity is um and then I am also going to wrap that up by asking for an overnight trip so kind of get a three in one presentation so um to introduce myself first I'm Jacob wiltz um the egg teacher here at monello I'm actually a monello graduate uh class of 2016 uh I went to South Dakota state for four years and then I'd been the egg teacher at Buffalo High School for the past two and a half years and um the opportunity to come back home to the the district that I really passionate about was um really good opportunity so um starting off here um just want to kind of um lay the framework here for an egg education so um you see in the diagram there when we talk as Ed egg Educators we often talk there's three parts to a true egg education there's the classroom instruction which is what I do from 8:15 to 3:00 every day there's the FFA piece um which is one things we all explain a little bit more and then we've got our SAE or supervised agriculture experience and that is really similar to like an on the job uh recordkeeping so um really right now our school we really focus heavily on that blue and on that yellow piece um we don't do quite as much with the red yet but that's because it's year one we'll build into that but um just know that that's kind of part my role is not just as an egg teacher because that's really only onethird of what I do as an egg educator so um as Matt and L mentioned the classes we have offered or that I'm currently teaching this year we've got an introduction to agriculture which is kind of just a catch all um with everything I've got a slide I'll show you some of the cool things we do with that um a companion animal science which is the class I'm teaching currently this winter trimester the big highlight of that for most students is they have an opportunity to bring in their pet to school uh for the class period to talk about it um and you'd be surprised that how many kids will never say a word except for the one day they get to bring in their dog um and then they'll they'll talk for 15 minutes about it so that's a pretty cool opportunity and then um energy and natural resources will be offered this spring so um there were a couple other courses so we were tentatively going to offer that unified agriculture this year um decided to maybe just keep things a little bit scaled back so that'll be on the plans for next year food animal science A and B really what that is is all of our food production animals so U beef cattle dairy cattle pigs chickens um anything you can eat plus horses um and then we also throw in some things like nutrition reproduction uh different food animal parts of it um I have it broken down into an A and B with my background of an animal science degree uh I think I'm really able to kind of take that concept and most schools only have a one trimester or one semester and I think I can make that into two trimesters uh bring in some pretty cool things for the kids some cool Labs cool learning opportunities um and so we're going to do it that way um then an e agriculture was something was kind of thrown together last minute because I do have a lot of el students um and I always feel bad cuz they they often feel like they're falling behind I said look I have enough of them let's just make a class and I can teach them about agriculture at the pace that they need um and that was very well received so we're going to try that um I learned that St Paul humble has a a class like that so the next time I meet with their teacher um I'm going to ask him to tell me everything about his class and then a landscape and design and a Horticulture where the two new ones um looking ahead Beyond then the next school year we have a CIS animal science that'd be through the U ofm um that the reason that has to be pushed back two years is a prerequisite for that it would be that food animal science class um and then two other classes that we have not proposed yet but I have taught at my old school was an intro to egg business um which is very definitely becoming one of the the big buzz wordss in the agriculture world right now is to have that egg Business Degree um and then a veterinary science class which is um a little bit more specific for those students who want to pursue maybe a veterinarian or a vet tech career um I'll probably just talk cuz I'm good at that I do that all day and when we get to the end I'm sure there'll be a lot of questions and then you guys can go back and um if we've got any whoops okay so kind of showing you some pictures of some of the cool things we've done throughout the year so um the center one of all of us in front of a combine Centra soda which is a big co-op in the area they do in egg careers day um they open it up to a select schools within the Cota District which is actually about half the state um and I have a really good relationship with one of the the head people there uh from my old school and so he was able to get us in this year so we took I want to say there's about there's about 20 um Juniors and seniors to that and so as about 20 minute rotations um we got to see some pretty cool Machinery we got to talk to some 2-year and four-year schools we got to see some drones we got to see what it's like to be a crop Scout lots of different things kind of just trying to expose these kids to as many different careers um and as many different learning opportunities as possible um we see on the bottom left then so in my the intro to egg class in our flower unit we're doing flower anatomy and I was fortunate enough from the the local flower shop here um owned by the Meyer family they donated a bunch of flowers to us and then I went and bought out some fruits and vegetables and so we were able to have these kids see okay we've learned about the structure of a flower now um think about the food that we eat that corn or that Apple um how does that come from this flow and so that was a cool activity for the kids and then probably the big highlight at least from a teaching perspective um is the fish tax D me and I believe Matt you were observing me when we did that um so that's pretty cool that's about a week long uh I don't want to call an experiment but a weekl long event um and so the kids bring in fish um it's not something that I can buy I tell them you have to either buy the F or catch your fish or somebody has to catch a fish for you uh but they completely clean out the fish so that all that's left of this is the skin they stuff it um they mount it they let it dry they paint it um and they were some pretty cool um there were some very very real real istic looking fish that wound up there so um looking ahead then to our our future Beyond this year um what you're looking at right there is just east of the weight room and the wrestling room it's a 30X 50 plot that's going to become our school garden um so I tilled that up this fall I was hoping to get some fertilizer worked into it that did not happen so I will get that in right before the snow comes and then I'll I'll work that in in the spring um starting in the spring then we'll be able to use that in some of my egg classes um as far as planting it and then in the fall we'll be able to harvest it we'll get to use it for some teaching purposes uh I also just today applied for a grant to plant a small Orchard um in our school uh one of the biology teachers Joe Mackey and I uh had this opportunity brought forward to us um and we were like you know it'd be really cool if we had a bunch of apple trees around we could really make use of that in both of our classes and so hopefully we get that Grant it sounded like it was pretty much I just had to fill it out they were looking to give away the money um look looking ahead then as L mentioned kind of part of this too is looking ahead long term in the future um we would really like to and I say we by that I mean me um an industrial Greenhouse um we really need one of those in order to teach these horiculture classes in the winter because the the whole purpose of my uh field that I teach is Hands-On learning and doing um and if we think about what Winter's like in Minnesota that's really tough to do with plants in the winter um and so we look at a of these other egg programs in our area that have successful egg programs they all have that greenhouse because you can use a greenhouse all year round um even the the garden is great and I'm really thankful that Matt and lur me let me uh just rip up a big piece of grass there uh but that's not going to really be useful um until the about last month of school so um and then just a few other things I have talked with Matt and Lori about um again looking at that longterm if I if I get a big wish list of whatever I'd like um some other schools have some pretty cool things there are some schools that have Chicken cops on property and utilize that in their animal science classes um an AP or beehives um and apparently we actually have a lot of locals in the area who I've met who have been like yes we will help teach you how to do that um and then aquaponics which is involving aquaculture or fish um and growing plants in there using the fish waste as fertilizer for the plants um now kind of segmenting from the classes into the the FFA piece of this um um so in order to become an FFA member students must be in an a class at some time during the school year and you should have gotten the copy of our FFA membership form so we are what's called a co-curricular activity um we're not an extracurricular like a sport uh because really FFA just builds off of what we learn in the classroom so um looking at there our membership numbers to kind of show you guys that like this this is a viable thing we got going for us here um pulled a a couple schools from our region we we're technically Region 4 um there's eight regions right now um and you can see where our numbers rank relative to schools that are close to us geographically and size-wise um and with the outlier really being Howard Lake um we're we're right up with there and that's 27 people after a little over three months um and a lot of these programs Rockford's the next newest program and they've been established for 10 years now so um very excited um we have a really good reception the kids are really interested in this um and the hard thing too is with that bottom part where you have to be in an egg class um a lot of these kids didn't know that they were egg class opportunities until like the last week of school or when they already came back in and so I've had a couple kids have said hey I just can't fit it in this year next year I'm taking an egg class and I'm going to be in FFA so I definitely expect that number to keep Rising so um and then just kind of thrown out there so you guys understand like the the scope of FFA and this is a really big thing I'm just one of many egg Educators we've got over a million members uh nationally over 9,000 FFA chapters um and there's FFA in all 50 states Plus Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands and it's pretty cool when we go to the National Convention um if you're not familiar the the Hallmark of an FFA member is their blue jacket and on the top it has the state name and then on the bottom it has the chapter and so when we go to the National Convention um the Minnesota State Convention is boring because everybody's jacket says Minnesota but when you go to National Convention and you can start to see all these jackets from different states um and get to talk to these people and learn about what egg education is like in louisv or Louisiana or Maine compared to Minnesota is pretty cool so um and then the next sheet or the second sheet I handed out to you guys kind of just gives you a a breakdown this is the same thing I gave my kids um a very tentative calendar of some of the things we do throughout the year so we do have monthly chapter meetings and that is run by the officers I sit in the corner of the room occasionally I pipe in add something um but our officers they plan the agenda they run the meeting we have a president a vice president secretary treasur reporter Sentinel um who am I missing Pete ADI or the officer at large um and so they run the meetings they talk about everything um we do a and that's what the top picture there that was our our first chapter meeting or our official one um we do a corn Drive every fall so that's something the Minnesota FFA does they partner with true friends Camp courage out there in anandale um and so so FFA members go out they ask farmers for corn um back in the the 70 years ago when the corn driver started they got only corn donations now we see a lot more cash and check but actually our members got a a fair amount of corn they got just over 2,000 pounds worth of corn um and so you can see there what the gentleman look like so they get to go out ask area Farmers for corn um they drop it off it's a really fun day if you ask any FFA member who participated um they'll tell you that's usually their favorite day of the year um so we keep a little bit of that as a fundraiser and then we also do donate some of that to true friends um fruit sales uh back when I was in high school that was the band uh was their fundraiser was selling the fruit through uh minex fruit um we have now taken over that role and so that's something a lot of other FFA chapters do um so we just wrapped that up we got our fruit delivered about a week ago we do many CDE and lde competitions and I'll explain that on my next slide uh one of the other fundraisers we is Pizza Ranch and so that's our first one in the bottom left there um the one thing about my kids is they love to work um they would much rather I say hey you want to go to this trip you need to work fundraiser one two and three than I say hey you need to give $100 to go on this um they are always clamoring for work they're like hey what can we do to work we want to work um and so we try to give them as many opportunities like that to fund raise as possible um FFA week is in February it's the week of of President's Day weekend um and so some of the things our officers have planned we're going to do a teacher appreciation breakfast we got a couple game nights after school like bean bags and stuff planned um I don't remember what all else they had we got a State Convention coming up in April we go through the summer even so in the county fair uh the right County Fair in Howard Lake there's the children's Barnyard and each chapter is assigned a day to work that so we will have either two Wednesday or Thursday will be mon Solo's day there where our students will be working the Barnard the whole day the fair's open um there's contests at the State Fair which I know we have a couple kids interested in going to and then we have a National Convention in October which already this year one month into existence I had kids asking why we couldn't go so I have a feeling that uh come September I'll be back to you guys asking for permission to take some kids to National Convention so um so what our competitions are they are called cdes which stands for career development events or ldes which stands for leadership development events um completely varies so on that membership form I gave you guys the right hand there's a big chart of contests uh which also is is on this slide too uh but that's all the things that students can compete in so they vary some of them may be identifications they may be evaluations may be just a straight up knowledge multiple choice test um it may be like a presentation it may be a practicum um and so we compete at Regional events throughout the year each month there's two to four contests and that's what those boxes you notice so like the first box is livestock and dairy they compete in October um horse and poultry compete um if teams Place well enough there's a quota system they can go ahead and qualify for state so um one of the unique things with our FFA is they can compete in one contest so like if a student wants to do for example both livestock and dairy evaluation they're on the same day they would have to pick one of those now they could do livestock evaluation and then at the November contest do another one uh but even if they do one contest every single month there's only about six contests they can do um and the other thing is once they qualify in a contest they have to be run as JV so um I'll show you in some of the pictures we have here uh the the teams we've had compete so far so our horse evaluation team uh they took first at regionals which our region is widely considered the most competitive region in the state so um that was a very pleasant surprise that sets us up very well for State um and then Molly stoes who's the gal on the far right of that picture was the first place individual um so that that team is they're looking very well for State um and then the B underneath them we've got our livestock eval team they were third at regions they also qualified for State top right uh just this last week we had our small animal vet science team they took six and so they qualified and then the bottom right was our egg sales team and they they were only six uh but they had only three members in a contest that scores four so that that's the highest they could have gotten was fifth um and then also two of the gentlemen on that team are also on the livestock team so we had to run our egg sales team as a JV team because Elliot and John were all already qualified in livestock so um some of the teams we have coming up we have a pretty good fish and wildlife team they will compete in January and I think they have a really good shot at qualifying for State I've had some interest in a Meats evaluation team as well as a Flor culture team and a market CL team so my goal is of those three to get two of them also qualified for state so uh and then that leads me into our overnight trip request uh I kind of took the the original PowerPoint and fited into this you can stay on that one if you want Gavin um that did that to make it easier so I'll kind of give you the highlights of it um we're asking to go on two overnight trips one to the egg bull contest at smsu in early February and one to the little eye contests at SDSU at the end of March this gives those students a chance to compete in their second contest um I told you like so for example the kids on livestock judging they competed in October they will not compete again now until the end of April at state so it' be really nice to get them that second contest in um so that way they don't go 6 months without competing um the reason we have to split it up into the two is the livestock in horse is only offered at little ey that is the only other place we could go um all the other contests are offered at Eggo so we'll take just the two uh livock teams out to little ey the rest will go to eggel uh we'll take a student van for that trip I will drive for both of them um and then for egg bow I'd like to take a second B I think we have the student interest and so Andre hog who is the high school Spanish teacher and one of our FFA alumni she will drive the second one um cost will be nothing to the school just letting us use the B um students will we kind of know about what it will cost per kid and so we have it broken down by okay you attended fundraiser A you get x amount of dollars off your trip um if you don't have a whole trip paid for then you you owe the difference if you would like to go um proximate itineraries we'd leave on a Thursday afternoon drive out there um kind of study for a little bit maybe tour the college if there's time or if it's light enough uh the big reason we have to do this is you can see there the the Friday the contest begin at 8:00 a.m. so uh for Marshall we would be leaving at about 5: in the morning if we were going to Brookings we'd be leaving at a little before four um they compete they get done sometime Friday afternoon and then we would like to come back home so all [Music] right he's pausing sure I'm sure you guys have questions for me so I was told to be prepared Mr wiltz you are extremely enthusiastic about your topic and um my father-in-law was an uh educator for his entire career after World War II and so he would be very impressed with what you're trying to set up here and I want to thank you because this is an area that we really haven't had a lot of in our high school and we are every kid every day so um I'm just delighted to see that we have such a comprehensive program right out of the gate so thank you so much Casey that's good um you may have said at the beginning but just for those who aren't aware FFA stands for so technically it doesn't stand for anything anymore um it used to stand for Future Farmers of America and then about 30 years ago if about 30 years ago um they they dropped it because they thought it was making people think that only farmers could be in it so now it does truly just stand for the National FFA organization all right um and I probably should have introduced somebody to if he can maybe help with questions um so we have an alumni group that it's called alumni you don't actually have to have an FFA alumni to be in it think of it as like our Boosters club um and the the state has a State Alumni Association that kind of tells the chapter alumni what to do um and so uh Pete Iden is our monello um FFA for now treasur and president and hopefully in January when we have our first meeting we'll get him some help but um his daughter was a student of mine at Buffalo she was actually a state officer which is the highest leadership position you can get um and so he graciously has agreed to help here so um his role is to handle all the money like all these fundraising things um I don't see any of the money um it all runs through him so um and then he also helps and the the whole association yeah um and so he also helps advise uh stuff that I do um helps reach bridge that gap between me and the students and the rest of the alumni community so um I'll answers many questions but otherwise he's also here if if you had other questions for him questions or comments from the board I think it's awesome it's you're cool you I want to be in to go to a class is there an age limit well there's no age limit for the alumni so I encour you to talk to our alumni leader looking for a president Jeff thank you so much for doing this and jumping in with two feet and it's providing an opportunity for a lot of students that may have not had this opportunity before and we've been missing this aspect in our district for a long time so thank you for coming back to the district and taking a chance and putting everything into it because it's I mean you have a well detailed plan for what's going to take place as the kids progress and just the the things you're doing already it's outstanding so we're pretty lucky to have you so thank you very much I I'll say the the reason I'm back here is this District when from the the gecko with the talks um you guys were open to what my my crazy ideas and you've been supportive so and that's that's why I'm back here not another District yeah we go ahead we are grateful to have you back um the principles have been talking about you for months and uh you were spot on for what we got tonight a couple questions based on your presentation here yeah uh I didn't hear where the small Orchard would be um so there's been two spots we've been talking about either directly east of the school garden so that'd be if you're thinking um kind of where the softball fields are in between the softball fields and the the high school over there or otherwise potentially on the far southwest corner um or sorry that'd be Southeast um kind of by where the the teacher parking lot exits out there so um M Mr Mackey myself uh Mr cwell and then Ken the head custodian have kind of all been talking and um I think we've kind of agreed that we'll we'll wait and see what things are like in the spring but those are kind of the two spots we've been considering who will care for the garden in the summertime uh that that will be on the the egg program uh part of my contract I do have 80 extended hours um intended mostly for the garden and stuff like that um and the other thing we have with our FFA um there's something students do where basically the number of hours they work builds towards earning these things called degrees and so students that show up to work in the summer will get basically credit for that um and that it helps them rise in in Prestige basically in the FFA organization so um I know there's quite a few students that have said i' I'd like to come and help with this stuff in the summer so good how many years did Buffalo have an act program uh they celebrated their 75th year last year how many students are in their program uh there was numbers were up there it was in the it was like 40 or something so yep you have 27 here already yep so we're we're going to grow this are you are you being supported then I mean that to me I look at 36 in 75 years and like a 27 in one year and I feel like you must be supported yes I I I think there's definitely support um the senior class I I I owe a lot to them um they were the ones that sounded like about a year ago started banging on doors and saying hey we need to do this um my my seven officer members are all seniors um and then when they did Officer interviews my interview committee was like you need to put these seven on like they they have a passion they've got Drive they know what they want to get done so um and it's not all me and the kids have done an awful lot and and Pete has been around a lot of our activities he can to that um the the student leaders that I've got they make my job really easy last question are you going to teach the landscape class uh that probably okay and what's your experience uh right now nothing so I got a summer to learn okay I'll help you that's it glad to have you um I think it's fair to say we can all feel your passion which is awesome when we talked about our career Pathways and um setting those goals for our students and for them to see somebody like you doing what you're doing and your passion is awesome um couple questions One Landscaping we got a lot of landscaping companies in town that I'm sure if you reach out will help partner with you but too um you mentioned a grant I know there's quite a few grants that are available in terms of like the Minnesota Department a I don't know if any of them would help cover the cost of like a greenhouse and stuff but I'm curious you know in terms of the district level if you need any support or help in terms of that uh and I'm never going to say no I don't need help um looking at the greenhouse uh to to get the type of greenhouse that we need to to make it worth our time um it's going to be about a $200 to $250,000 is what other egg teachers have told me um now when you look online just like the company itself just the the greenhouse itself is only about 50 to 60,000 um so a lot of that's going to come from the concrete to make that big base um about a 30 by 50 ironically the same size as the garden is about what we need to have a a class of 20 to 25 kids um so that's a big amount of concrete that's getting water hooked up so that we can water the plants um and so that's kind of the the greenhouse building itself isn't um I know Miss kungl at the high school has started looking through stuff um I was going to throughout the spring kind of start progressively looking through stuff I've already started kind of putting out some feelers to people I know who maybe could help donate services or at least give us a reduced cost um if we were to ever bid them out so um I don't think if I'm being completely honest I don't think a greenhouse is realistic in the next like six months um but this is something that in the next year or two it'd be pretty cool if we could see that make progress on it but definitely would be open to help on do have a wellness committee is in the back there that you might want to consider um I know at the the convention that Kathy was talking about earlier I had gone to some classes last year too that talked about different grants grants and bringing agriculture in and different opportunities they're mixed with Wellness which is kind of neat but um cool and then just another thought just to give it to you and not you don't need to say anything but also summer and needing to maintain areas as Community Education could also be something where you might be able to do a class and teach some of the younger folks in the community some really cool things and start them even younger so thank you one of the classes you have on here is Unified agriculture which I think is great we be the only District that you know of that has a program uh actually no so the the old school I was at Buffalo has one um I'm not aware of too many other schools I have and if you look at the list um I we're not a big District by any means but we're one of the larger ones that have it um so I I know Buffalo does and that's I've kind of I did not teach the class there my co- teer did but I we shared a room we shared ideas I pulled some ideas from him um I was going to throughout the spring talk with more teachers um through my master's program I'm getting partnered up with a couple other schools um so I'll get a little more to look in their curriculum what classes they offer stuff like that so I've been here 20 years and that was by far the most energetic uh presentation I've ever seen you got us all pretty excited we're we're passing notes we got things going on just like we're high school students so thank you for your energy you brought it to the house today and delivered a clear message and we really appreciate your passion yeah I'll throw in one more thing too you know um the St Paul campus of the U ofm has enormous experimental Gardens and experimental fields and all that it would be so cool to be able to connect that with our students on a field trip or you know a college visit or you know something like that so that would just be amazing to connect everything across like that that's actually where the state convention is held and they do a lot of like tours and stuff with that so very cool um I won't take up any more of your guys' time cuz I was told 10 minutes and I'm definitely over that but um told you 10 minutes yeah Le didn't get blame Gary not here um if you guys have other question and you guys know where what my email is uh feel free to reach out I'd love to be be a partner with you guys and um keep keep this program going so thank you I think Matt wants to say one thing I could do I [Laughter] said this is a action item yeah board members this is an action item before Mr wiltz runs out of the room and starts tilling the ground again out there I think that's awesome by the way that you was tilling out in the in the grounds on the school there that's pretty cool anyway so we do have an action item before us for the overnight trip for the FFA as presented M second moved by Mark Branson seconded by Melissa Curtis all those in favor of approving the FFA overnight trip request as presented by the energetic Mr Jacob wilts please say I I any opposed please say no and the motion passes 6-0 congratulations Mr wiltz please come back and give us updates on how things are going well moving on we have Innovation and Leadership Mr Eric Olen our superintendent is going to give some building and program staff shoutouts yeah I'm going to give uh two shout outs uh here today um they're both teachers and uh they are both from the high school um I had the opportunity to uh present at a Education Foundation class and um the experience that I saw in that class and the authentic learning um just was exactly what you hope for um every time you walk into a classroom but miss Miss Alysa ambrosus um is our fax teachers fax teacher and she teaches that class and um I'll start with her um but every skill that I saw um in that class was a skill that I would want to see when I would be interviewing a teacher as a principal um the projects that she showcased while I was there um the authentic um connections that students had to our strategic plan and our vision of a learner was was very deep it wasn't like they didn't prepare it for me to come in there they could answer questions that were absolutely um you know worldly to what our district is trying to accomplish and um I was very very impressed with um how the students interacted and showcased uh what they had been learning and then miss Tony chido um she takes the coordination part of that class um so the learning that uh happens um in class from Miss ambrosus then is is practiced um out in the field just like you would want to at a college level I didn't get to practice uh teaching until my Junior and senior year in in in college and so these educators are going into Elementary classrooms Middle School classrooms as as Juniors and seniors in high school and the Practical experience um that Miss chido has been building is absolutely phenomenal and even some paid opportunities um at our very own East View education center for um helping um Child Care be able to take some um give some support to families uh and have uh after and before school child care so I just see learning happening in that class and then application um happening um from that class and just it's it's at a really high level so I look forward to continue to getting into classrooms to be able to see things like this obviously we saw another high application Level here tonight um um from uh Mr wils and then um you know I I picked up on one of the um speakers from the robotics team and and um he said that he wanted to have hands on and I've talked with um our student Representatives as we prepare our student podcast and that's what they always talk about we they want to have their hands on things and they want to they want to um have learning come alive and um boy you hear that from all of our students and you just hope as Educators we continue to grow that so um so yeah my staff shoutouts are two tonight uh miss ambrosus and miss Trel thank you thank you Mr Olsen and they are very worthy staff members uh moving on to our safe and healthy culture we have um Director of Business Services Miss Tina Burkholder and no we did not plan our outfits to be identical my gosh look at that it's kind of a joke um she's going to give us our final property tax levy um this evening and that will be an action item for the board welcome Tina um so I don't need to take up too much time nothing has changed from our truth and Taxation hearing our final projected Levy for payable 2025 is 14, 394,000 which is a decrease of1 157,000 or uh minus 1% and so tonight we just need final approval so we can get that to the state and the county there any questions or discussion from the board finding none uh board members this is an action item to approve the final property tax levy as presented um by Tina Burkholder second we moved moved by Jamie Sten second sorry so moved second okay let's start over sorry moved by Jeff hegley still to get over the egg presentation and seconded by Jamie seen for the final property tax levy all those in favor of approving the final property tax levy as presented by Tina Burkholder please respond by saying I I I any opposed please say no and the final property tax lby passes 60 thank you Tina now we're going to have Mr Rob Daner Director of Human Resources and our policy director uh talk with us about the second reading of policies and these are act for this evening welcome Rob where's the glasses your side I have to take them off to actually read the paper sorry um thank you chair zbar members of the board superintendent Olsen um to add a little excitement to the policy reads tonight I was going to have Jacob wils come on up and present those no longer in attendance however so I guess I'm on my own um all right so we have nine policies to go through tonight um thank you sir for bringing that up all right so the first one uh is uh policy 205 open meetings and Clos meetings um and the purpose of this uh policy is uh the school board Embraces accountability and transparency and the conduct uh of its business and the belief that openness produces better outcomes more efficient administration of programs and an organization more responsive to public interest and less susceptible to private interest um the reason that we're bringing this back because we had just actually reviewed this relatively recently is um a board directive to look at opportunities to uh clarify uh committee composition with respect to open meeting laws so we want to make sure that we're following open meeting laws at the same time uh the board um also has a need to develop ad hoc uh committees from time to time for instance for grievance proceedings uh which would um obviously not be pertinent or uh would not be desirable in an open meeting session and so uh working with our legal support uh from uh Squires Wallsburg and mace uh we um are proposing some um modifications to policy 205 to accomplish that uh those goals and I'll just pause there any for any questions on this I think we're uh approving in Mass again tonight right is that uh I'm I believe so but we will pause after each one in case there's any questions or discussion from the board finding none we'll go ahead and move on all right uh policy six I'm sorry 416 um this is a uh new policy we do not currently have this one on the books the purpose of this policy the school board recognized the significant problems created by drug alcohol and cannabis use in society in general and the public schools in particular the school board further recognized the important contribution that public schools have in shaping the Youth of today into the adults of tomorrow so we do not have this policy currently um on the books primarily because the majority of this policy deals with uh commercial transportation I.E school bus drivers um and we do not host our own school bus drivers uh we contract that service out however to that extent the policy committee has recommended an ad on page two regarding uh um the following while the school district does not currently directly employ school bus drivers it is the expectation of the school district that contracted bus vendors must comply with the state and federal obligations outlined in this policy and then secondarily um the policy addresses um drug cannabis uh and alcohol testing of employees that's not something that we ever uh would desire to do uh in the HR department or as a district as a whole however if we over in a situation where we needed to do that for um a rare circumstance or occasion we can't we cannot legally do that without this policy in place so that's why we're bringing this forward as a a policy for approval any questions or discussion from the board on the Cannabis policy drug alcohol and cannabis finding none moving ahead all right um the next one is uh policy number 425 staff development and mentoring uh the purpose of this policy is to establish a staff development program and structure to carry out planning and Reporting on staff development that supports improves student learning the reason this one is coming to the board is because of a legislative update so a change in statute um and that is found in the areas under PA professionals Title One AIDS and other instructional staff the change in the legislation required the district to um consult with that uh Union uh that representation prior to uh professional development planning for the year which of course we did is there any questions or discussion from the board on policy 425 nnan moving ahead all right the next policy is policy 501 School weapons policy um the purpose of this policies to ensure a safe School environment for students staff and public this is uh being brought forward because of our review cycle and so this has not been reviewed by the board uh a number of years um and pretty straightforward the policy committee did um recommend uh a couple of minor word change uh basically um defining a firearm as a firearm or dangerous weapon um which would make sense given the context any discussion or questions from the board for policy 501 finding none moving ahead all right policy 509 this is the enrollment of non-resident students the purpose of this policy uh the school district is required to participate in enrollment options program established by Minnesota statute section 124d .03 it is the purpose of this policy to set forth the application exclusion procedures used by The District in making determination this one is brought forward again because of legislative update particularly with regard to uh students with disabilities and so there's a couple of changes on page one of this uh policy uh regarding the ability of the district to um um to not enroll um a student enrolling from uh who is a non-resident based on disability and then uh also there's a change elsewhere in the policy regarding um The District's ability to um yeah no I'm sorry that was the same one so um with regard to ability of non-enrolled uh nonresident students to enroll in the district based on uh disability category is there any discussion from the board on enrollment of non-resident students policy 509 okay moving finding none and moving ahead all right um policy 510 School ities the purpose of this policy is to impart to students employees in the community the school district's policy related to Student Activity program um and so this is a part of our review cycle there are several sections of this policy that are native to monacello meaning that we have made um significant ads or modifications to the msba draft policy over time and we're continuing to uh bring those forward in this current um cycle as well um of note the our activities director Mr reving has um we have tried to decrease the number of local modifications this policy has put several of the elements that are in the current policy into the activities handbook and so there's um three remaining items that he is going to Endeavor to put into the handbook uh in preparation for the 2526 school year so that next year we can come back to this and narrow the scope of 510 even further any discussion or uh questions from the board for policy 510 school activities finding none moving ahead okay policy 511 uh student fundraising purpose of this policy is to address student fundraising efforts again being brought to us because of our review cycle for policies um again we did we do have some uh local adap adaptations to the msba draft uh particularly with uh fundraising activities which are uh long-standing um uh practices of the activities Department questions from the board for policy 511 student fundraising finding none moving ahead right policy 512 School sponsored student Publications and activities the purpose of this policy is to protect student rights to free speech and production of school sponsored media and activities while at the same time balancing the school district's role in supervising student Publications and the operation of public schools again this one's brought forward because of legislative update uh uh in particular um there was some legislative changes that um embedded some First Amendment rights to um student authors of um School sponsored media that were not in in existence prior questions from the board for policy 512 finding none moving on and lastly policy 513 student promotion retention and program design again this one's brought forward because of legislative update um in this case there was one minor change in this policy and that is the change from uh what is now the outdated term world's best Workforce to the new term adopted by the legislature in the spring of 24 which is comprehensive achievement and Civic Readiness that is the only change to that policy so much easier to say rolls off the tongue um any questions for uh from the board for policy 5113 okay finding none uh members we will move all of these policies 205 416 425 501 509 510 511 512 and 513 as a group this of course not the first time the board has been presented with these we've worked on these for quite some time so I'll entertain a motion so moved moved by Casey root seconded by uh Jeff hegley to approve the F the nine policies as presented all those in favor please say I I any opposed please say no and the nine policies pass 60 thank you Mr Daner you slipped that in on the agenda didn't well I'm assuming uh it would be best if I just jumped in here and um allow any board member um to also uh be able to contribute to um just a moment of of recognition um I would not want to miss an opportunity to share what I believe the school board and myself um um has had the opportunity to experience um the last four years um but miss zbar Cher zbar I had the opportunity and I still remember where I was I was uh pacing in the parking lot on my cell phone when I called you to see if you'd be interested in running for the school board and and I will never forget that day because that day um LED you to us and um you have absolutely um raised the bar for us in fact I think Jeff hegley once uh said and I think he said it so well but um you um raised the bar for all board chair to follow From This Moment forward and that's really important it's not to F it's not just to follow and to um try uphold something that you did but you've made it clear how the job can be done in order to make things better for the school district I think some words that um I um often think about when I think of you um you are an absolute strong leader um you're very Global and and well traveled which really equates to um some very deep and refle uh perspectives um you got attention to detail um like no other person I've ever been part of you see things uh um oftentimes um you know I would have to read them 22 times before you'd see it after one time but uh you also besides that attention to detail you have a macro look at um education in life and that macro look um has also that those Visions have also been um able to um give us inspiration for improvement as well um you're a very clear and effective Communicator um you have fun you're natural um at this position and you've really made it natural with each of the um each meeting that you've been at as Cherry I just feel like this has just become part of who you are it's ingrained in your in your very well-being um and then um you know I just I we've had some um you know challenges that we've we've been able to um go through together as a board and we've always risen to the top because you bring us um back to the top um no and then we also um have had a lot of celebratory times and those celebratory times are um just as as as meaningful as challenging times and and uh you just do a great job of communicating during all those um events so I just like to say from the bottom of my heart thank you for your service to the Monas Sol School District um you absolutely uh Rock Your Service thank you yeah I just want to thank you I mean you are a gifted Communicator you've been an incredible leader and steadfast for us um you've brought structure you've brought great things to policy and being a delegate and legislation like I don't think the community has any idea what she's done not only for our district but for our entire State and so um we will do our best to still make you proud in your absence but um no one can fill your shoes you're absolutely an incredible human and it's been an honor to work with you thank you think I've shared with you many times how you and your leadership I just keep it short I have the utmost respect for you so thank you Jeff I feel the same Kathy I feel like I've learned a lot from you enjoyed our time together thank you yeah it's been it's been good you have a good F great mind foundation and a process and I'd say remaining neutral on pretty much everything and just looking at both sides of different arguments different debates um but no it's been it's been a pleasure working with you these past two years wish you well future endeavors maybe you'll run again I but no it's it's been fun I I appreciate our banter back and forth on there it's always positive I was with a great outcome so well I thank you all for your wonderful comments and for everyone who has um emailed me and called me and it's been really overwhelming I said I would um a leader is only as good as their team you guys have been a great team we've worked really hard and we've turned a page and we've modernized a lot of things here and I'm proud of everything that we've done and I know the foundation is set and nobody sits in these seats forever so it's time to turn the page it's time to move on and for our students I have one piece of advice and I think you have this in your office the man in the arena spend yourself in a worthy cause there'll be lots of worthy cause is over your lifetime but make sure it's a worthy cause and with that we have a budget meeting to follow and at 7:21 wait wait wait wait we do have thank you we do have some GI my gosh we have a this a care package Administration School Board also has a package here but small jungle just the agriculture that today you would been impressed by that go something to bring you cheers as you Cate thank you so much everyone thank you everyone um it's been quite a ride um I guess I can also share that I may not be done representing monacello um schools I'm in the uh a final uh finalist for the health committee uh Health standards committee at the Minnesota Department of Education I don't know when they're going to select but the last email I got made it sound like they were pretty close because they wanted to know if they could do the background check and my license numbers and all that sort of thing so I think I'm past a lot of it so I may have an opportunity to continue to represent monacello at the state level and if so I would be so proud to be able to to go and do that for our district because I don't think we've had anybody up there yet so and the picture and and the garden [Applause] two all [Music] right the gavl is about to be passed so don't forget we have budget meeting and it's 720 for as Melissa puts her cat on freezing we are adjourned you bring that e
