stuff that happened in the recent past so on March 20th 24 at the dragon NY Auditorium on the County College of Morris campus mths senior Sophia Karas was nominated by Mr Sanford for the Morris County School boards Association unsung hero award and then also before a break Mr bushco Holocaust and genocide Studies classes took a field trip to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC this dayong trip included time at the Museum as well as the National Mall and then from April 11th to April 12th students from Mr Connelly's international business practice firm or ibf classes attended the virtual Enterprises youth business Summit in New York City the two teams charge Patty and Invision competed against schools from across the US who also qualified additionally we had representatives from both companies who attended the international trade show on Friday where each company designed and decorated their trade group charge Patty made over $54,000 in sales while inis did over6 ,000 in sales during the trade sh on April 12th high school students who attended William Mason Elementary School participated in a full day Junior Achievement workshop and training these students will travel to B Mason to teach third fourth and fifth grade students about entrepreneurship business and job Readiness in the coming weeks and then yesterday on April 15th Ms posted uh share the keys event at 700 p.m. in the mths auditorium and then moving into some things in the Pres so on April 17th eight mths students who received awards for their artwork from the Blackwell Street artists high school students Expedition will be honored at a reception and board ceremony and then on Thursday April 18th at 700 p.m. there will be a college panel night panel of admission representatives and the colleges involved include Boston College the University of Michigan D University and Franklin Marshall College and then Mrs Einstein's AP biotechnology class were the first students in New Jersey to take the BAC exam uh continuing on so the baseball team had a rough start to their season hold a holding a record of two and five because of the rigorous schedule of the teams they play the softball team is starting get their feet on the ground improving from an 0 and four record to now a 3 and six record the boys lacrosse team holds an early season record of 2 and three looking to improve to 3 and three during tonight's game the girl across team starts the season with a tied record of three and three recent Milestones made by Julia junior Julia Swanson attaining her 200th Career Point and Senior Kira fall getting her 100th Grand Bal boys golf is on fire with a 4-0 record senior Eli coffin leads the team coming in first place every match scoring the lowest not to mention the girls golf team is also undefeated with the 3 and0 record senior captains Mar balinsky and Bailey steppan lead the team scoring the lowest match Boys Tennis looks to get their first Win Thursday against Sparta and start their winning streak the girls flag football team declared 10 in the state after their 2-0 record sophore nor esan has thrown many touchdown yards so far and the track and field team just got their SE season started with the Madison relays this past weekend despite the bad weather there were medals won by the girls distance flyy relay the girls 4X 100 met relay and the girls P relay teams now some things happening in the future starting off uh spring Spirit Week presented by the sa will be next week the spirit days will be Adam Sandler day anything but a backpack day country vers Country Club day and color Wars the pep rally will include student favorite events that were unable to be played uh in the fall because of the cancellation apce tests will start Monday May 6th and run through Friday May 17th teachers are currently finish finishing up course material and beginning to review material for the upcoming tests on Friday May 24th the seniors will be having their senior breakfast at the manown Mountain Lakes and finally on Thursday May 30th the senior prom will be at the Grove thank you thank you very much I know that some of the seniors went back toale and I'm glad to see them I encourage you if you get a chance before you leave for college go back into your Elementary School teachers they love it when you show up and um two advisers for the Cedar Hill AV club we wanted to first thank you for letting our today [Music] to it's been a lot of fun it's been a great addition to school and we have time students started all of this and all the um it seems that all of the other students and staff also share that enthusiasm and we are frequently Asked is there new which is so nice to he and this very first new [Music] B worst Cas is you can use the student migr there good evening m board of education thank you for letting us present tonight if a parent two needs to stay on side the video if you can I know you're getting locked there quite a few people we are the Cedar Hill a club we consist of two advisers and 11 fifth grade members we work hard to produce your home new show called CH on we cover everything from special events to just fun stuff happening in classrooms today we have completed 16 episodes about two per month some of the best things about Indie clubs we get to learn how to edit a video the club uses camera so that we can all log on and collaborate together to edit videos another cool aspect of a club is that we get to use the cool sound and camera equipment although it took us a while to get the hang of it the whole school knows us we're practically famous we we have prepared a slide to show you some of our wonderful work so far we hope you enjoy it as you will be on our next to all the different schools throughout the district and you see some of the results these are our future leaders here at at the high school our future newscasting so we look for to that does anybody want to share one or two little quick things like what do you like most about the club or what was the biggest thing that you experienced Des grab the mic you before I really like working on collaborating with my [Music] friends the same thing as v i I love recording with my friends and having a lot of fun with my friends and the people that we're recording two more over there um I really like it because it's really fun you never know what you're going to do next and it's like for it's good experience Lear to nice one more even though it takes time it's it you learn a lot from it and excellent so I hear a lot of fun and a lot of collaboration with your friends all right who you said technical difficulties who could share what was one or two of the challenges that you faced so have right who hasn't spoken hold up um on a lot of our videos we've U we've lost sound and even some of our videos we forgot to hit the record button that happens at board meetings too [Music] [Music] we get you can back up so um we had a problem with our camera so somehow the camera got like like how it was recorded you had to film it upside down to be like stra up so we had to film it upside down was a whole confusion for like 3 month and one more person sometimes we have too much fun and start like laughing so I just want to mention that again MEF did a great job wonderful support but I would just say MEF is worth supporting um so when they come around this fall asking for your help think about them and what we've done here given some love to well thank you so much with look forward to smile big say a all right so we're going from the elementary level to the high school level we're going to bring up the bowling team Co Cen and Mr come on up you do whatever you want to [Music] do good evening everybody uh my name is Wayne G I'm the athletic director at the high school I want to thank Dr Gman and the board of education for affording me the opportunity to recognize our high school bowling team uh throughout the years this program in particular has experienced a tremendous amount of success this is a testament to the efforts of the coaches and student aths who dedicate an incredible amount of time to work to get better each and every day I know I have one of the greatest jobs in the district as I get to experience day and and day out the excitement and achievements of sports team however this team is a very special team from the onset of the 2012 2013 season that's when the program started this team has posted a 187 and6 dual match record this includes seven undefeated seasons and for the 2023 24 season they posted a 26 and Z record and top public school in the state of New [Music] Jersey oh we're not done in addition to an undefeated season the Mustangs won the South Jersey Super Bowl tournament the coaches New Year's Eve tournament the NJ East title the north one group 3 sectional title and an overall group three State title this is the third group title in program history and marks the most group titles out of any of our athletic programs so without further Ado let me introduce our team sophomore Dylan Kaufman s Jake [Applause] Schneider Jesse kersner hofman of course must than are coach by head coach Rick cren who have just a fantastic [Applause] I those are incredible stats for anybody out there so uh congratulations you guys have left lasting workk on the athletic program here at mon we really appreciate that picture we would love to hear from if you guys want to talk you guys [Music] team um so I'm Eli a senior um this season was uh very special I think if you look back to the 20121 season where we also won States we had six or eight guys that you know could average around 200 and even last year we the same thing um but we lost three seniors last year three seniors that were of the top l in the state and to have you know just five guys that was really the whole team really each and day out had a that day we lost the match to you know try 26 matches and what United tournament States uh it's pretty inredible so great job you [Music] all right big smiles so just we've mentioned it before about the four a of Education the academics the Arts the Athletics and all the activities and you've seen the different things that we value here you know two of them you know with the Arts and the activities so far and now Mr n from the high school is going to talk about the academics actually actually five different categories you can cover them allall too so all yours uh good evening I'm thrilled to be here to present our shop light stars for the third Market period of 2023 2024 school year tonight stars is always wronged by faculty members on the five different categories and the winners were selected by administrative Comm in addition to the recognition of these wonderful students Sunrise sh generously donates $1,000 to the class of 2024 please join me in congratulating each of Our Stars this evening in the field of academics congratulations to Tessa [Applause] kungo Tessa epitomizes the embodiment of academic Excellence extracurricular dedication and a heartfelt uh commitment to community service with unwavering determination test has maintained an impressive GPA of 4.5 cluster out High School conquering a rigorous course C that included 8 AP classes including five this year alone her Stellar achievement completing her junior year with all a plus grades stands as a testament to her diligence to academic crows Tessa's academic success has also led to recognition personal recognition such as AP scholar award in excellence and science award Tessa has actively contributed to various organizations being inducted into The National Society and serving as the vice president of public relations for the atalian Honor Society specifically her passion for Science and Healthcare propelled her into the hly name Hospital healthc Care's career Discovery program where she immersed herself in a Hands-On medical uh simulation experience in addition to a rigorous course test findes fulfillment in our extracurricular Pursuits as a dedicated member of the mths varsity swim team captain in her senior year swimming has been an integral part of her identity beyond the R Tessa channels her identity into serving others heading roles such as secretary at the best buddies club and treasur of of peers as Leaders moreover she has initiated Joe's Angels a social media platform aimed at raising awareness and funds for humanitarian causes Tessa's dedication to her community also extends to programs such as Saturdays in motion where she shares her love for swimming with children with autism in the fall Tessa will attend the University of Florida a major in biology again congratulations [Applause] [Music] [Applause] in the field of athletic congratulations to Eli Kaufman Eli has been consistently one of the most talented and accomplished athletes that we have had in in THS in Bow Eli was named to the first team all in Jack East First Team all Morris County was selected as the Morris County male Bower of the year and First Team all state an honor that only six boers are chosen for even more impressively Eli finished seventh overall in State individual tournament had a 232 average this year and is only one of five in program history to score a 300 perfect score HEI was also selected as the recipient of the 2022 morriso sportsmanship award a prestigious recognition saved for those who demonstrate the most exceptional personality and character traits in golf Eli won the individual State sectional Championship as a sophomore the individual Morris County Championship as a junior and was the 2023 Morris County Tournament champion Eli is the kind of unique individual who demonstrates talent in several different fields in addition to the athletic ability that I just described Eli has ear a and has earned an A+ in symphonic band each year since nth grade has taken five AP classes during his career than THS including for this year and is proudly maintained a 4.0 plus GPA for Eli though one of his greatest accomplishments was four years in the making since freshman year Eli has looked forward to taking the AP Human Geography Maps exam Eli recently achieved a perfect score on this exam which is a testament to his perseverance dedication and determination in the fall I has committed to for University where he would continue his golf career and major and international relations with a future interest in law school again congratulations in the field of the Arts congratulations to Leo [Applause] irvy Leo is being recognized for their work and dedication to our arts program over the course of the past four years specifically Le has been an integral part of our stage crew for numerous shows and Productions often serving as a backstage leader presidents president of the RO model stage crew work be challenging and Brewing tedious and sometimes seemly endless but those who work in Sage crew make Productions happen although the people who perform on stage are the ones that we immediately give Aces to those who work behind the scenes or are out of the spotl often deserve just much recognition and credit it is unique to find a student so committed to making meaningful valuable contributions to the art program without wanting acknowledgement but me selfishness dedication to our program and school and tenacity is deserving of this moment were all eyes are on them Leo credits their positive attitude and ability to overcome any challenge is the reason for their success at MCHS and for their committed desire to learning and growth for example Leo was taking an increasingly difficult uh difficult classes each year culminating this year with their first AP class which was AP art two hon level classes and geoscience which is the first time in this class is running Leo ended their sophomore and Junior career with an A plus average of 4.0 uh GPA and will do the same at the end of their senior year lastly I wanted to show for the first time in several years we offered a study abroad program uh which we are participated in traveling to Italy on a wonderful C scholarship in the fall we will attend stock University and major in environmental science to pursue a career that one day might help save the plan again congratulations [Applause] [Music] in the field of community service congratulations T [Applause] Barbara the vast majority of new's community service experience was achieved through her tireless participation in school clubs and organizations as Marina will tell you she is a in a lot of clubs forensics Art Club Poetry Club film club Key Club the mental health initiative and Earth club which she serves as vice president but her compassion uh dedication to our community truly stands out as a member of our interact Club Molina was the only student to show up for the initial interest meeting for interact earlier this year recognizing the value of the club and the positive impact of has the community uh M quickly began recruiting members to join interact and organizing some impactful initiatives including a warm clothing Drive soup drive and a bingo night at the Chelsea Living Center in February this event in particular was identified as a major achievement because of the sh of students who attended to play bingo with residents mol is credited not only with keeping interact operational this year but actually overseeing the growth of the club for future students outside of interact Marina also volunteers at the fruit Bank in Brut to make packages for those in need when she is not volunteering Marina is also a member of stage crew Spring Track and flag for despite participation in a number of demanding activities Marina is also incredibly proud of her academic accomplishments she has maintained a 4.2 plus GPA including three AP classes this year Marina is also one of only a few students in my time at mths to double up on a world language which means that she is taking currently taking two French Classes M was also awarded the New Jersey seal by literacy in French and is actively learning Russian and German because of her passion for culture and love for language in the fall Mar will attend the University of Connecticut and is still deciding for which major to to pursue again [Music] congratulations in the field of leadership he congratulations to Ryan son we all know Ryan for his outstanding leadership of the class of 2024 in this capacity Ryan reads class meetings promotes school spirit and coordinates and manages fundraisers for the benefit of the 275 other graduating seniors uh who will be walking across the stage in just a few short months for example in large part because of R's leadership last year's tricky treay was highly successful one of the most successful fundraising events history Ryan led a team of other class officers to contact more than 300 businesses for the event which ultimately raised over three $30,000 and resulted in one of the most affordable senior breakfasts and prom functions that we've had in many years Ry is also co-president of L Phil's History Day Club in addition to being a two-time state champion and National qualifier at that event Ryan's passion for hist's infectious and he's currently leading the Revival of his Club m additionally Ryan is the founder of The Rise club which he started last year and now has over 100 members rise stands for realize improvements and share experiences this began as an opportunity for students to inspire change in each other through mutual shared learning experiences emphasizing life Improvement in academics Athletics mental health and wellness Ryan is also a 4-year Varsity Boys Tennis play are serving as the captain for the last two in this role Ryan facilitates drills during practice and offers renovation to his teammates aside from the team in NS Ryan has played in over 370 competitive matches in USA tournaments and utr matches and achieved the rank of the top 328 in the nation Ryan also works and volunteers during the summer at the M Tennis Club where he teaches tennis to beginners aside from his leadership experience in multiple clubs and organizations Ryan was a second place Nationals winner in a team event at the 202 fbl e business competition has proudly maintained a 4.8 plus GPA is a National Merit Scholarship finalist AP scholar with distinction recipient of the New Jersey Cala by literacy in both Chinese and Spanish and inducting into the Spanish Honor Society and National Honor Society Ryan is still deciding which college to attend in the fall but plans to Major economics again congratulations to Ryan and to all of our thir [Applause] good job told you ch [Applause] I just want to say recognize um Mr ndaq I really appreciate you um I really enjoy all that you say about the kids and all their achievements I don't know how you write it all but it's really written beautifully so I just want to thank you yeah we're very lucky he does a great job very smooth every single time thank you for that and if any you do want you to leave I know you have to school tomorrow take off it's okay we won't yeah but if you want to stick around it's a lot of fun so we just entered into the fourth quarter of school so I just wanted to report out just on some of the highlights of our district goals and the achievement and the progress we've made over the past three quarters the first is was our mental health uh initiative uh the council department created a comprehensive onboarding program for new students that'll be going into place for next year we have the youth Mental Health First aidid training for teachers we've been doing that all year and we're going to continue that throughout the rest of this year and getting more teachers involved and we've been having more homework free breaks and they've been working so with the major holidays or long weekends students are going home and they're able to go without any concerns about um any kind of work when they come back in the break the second initiative is the Innovative learning opportunities so science robotics course course was adopted this year and there will be another option for people that don't want to take physics uh High School administered the biotechnician assistant credentialing exam for students it was mentioned earlier in our student report it's an industry recognized exam and we're the first in New Jersey to offer this we will be approving a sign language teacher tonight I hope uh board has that in front of them and we'll be offering American Sign Language next year as one of our option for students uh amplify is a software system that will be implemented for the English language arts at the elementary level so that will be implemented last next year we've been piloting the program this year with much success and we're going to be implementing a new Elementry schedule starting next year more details to follow on that the third goal was Safety and Security we have a new app that allows the faculty and staff to share information in emergency situations and the police are also following this app we have a new phone system that was installed over the April break which now can indicate which room a 911 call was made from to help First Responders get bre to scene and we're finishing up the security vestule at se Hill the fourth district role is for facilities and construction projects we opened up bids uh for summer projects just recently regarding wolf repairs as part of our Rod grants we completed a 5year timeline of how to use the Capital Improvements to reserve money we shared that out uh about a month or so ago and adjustments can only be made but we already looking at towards the future with that and we held a meeting recently about all our summer projects that are going to be completed this summer that's all I have okay thank you um David I just want to comment um I think you're doing a terrific job on on the goals and thank you yeah we made a lot of good progress so um we're pleased so far excellent thank you and I we mentioned just for the high school students out there um and the parents that the biotechnician assistant prevention town as someone who used to have a biotech lab before moving on to another career that kind of credential would be fantastic I would look at that and instantly want that high school student in my lab so if you're interested in going to research in college look into this exam and try to take [Music] the report okay uh let's move to session [Music] gonen so we met this evening before the board meeting and well helped us go over some of our Reser counts and um some of the projects will be doing over the summer and just the public awareness the uh public hearing on the school budget will be uh April 30 yeah we met last night um and we red the 2425 High School master schedule um R the classes that are um size that them um and Rel to Great ARR of offering offer we got feedb survey and going sticking with going back to the halfday schedule to midterms and um based on the feedback Sur continue with the changes made during 202 Administration School recommendation readings for the Sumer 2024 are the high school this and for the middle school and read several years ago very successful those schools and be a new group of students experience in now as Dr Gord said the amplifi knowledge language arul will be implemented and um it's been piloted with great success in the district and I'm looking forward to having that improve the biotechnology curriculum um as the um which includes certification editing exam and that's been a big success as well and um we um discussed also those changes uh that government alluded to to the elementary master schedule um which will include 50 minutes periods and um different opportunities for um instruction that is really we feel would be a great addition to the elementary it was a very good me thank you uh policy Joe we haven't had a meeting we [Music] have communications no report okay safety no report uh school boardsen thank you um so on March 20th hero Ceremony this hero is an award for high school seniors who sort of run under the radar um but nevertheless made a very positive impact on their schools uh want we honor one of our own students at that ceremony uh and on April 2nd uh the uh group of Mars County unome Heroes will be gathered together uh and they have there there will be further rewards um on March 21st the leadership in educational Excellence group net with Governor um I was very privileged to be part of that group um the governor does up here to understand challenges that are faced by New Jersey schools as well as challenges faced by the taxpayer on uh Friday I'll be attending the first New Jersey school boards Association women the leadership conference and I very much look forward to that and um also um on next Friday the board of directors of New Jersey school boards will meet thank you uh more County School boards Michelle the final meeting of the Year Thurs May 630 hybrid in person is at brury high school and this recognition ceremony for board members who receive honors and Milestones there will be recognized the UN winners as well as schar Joe Mor County Education Services we had a Mee April 10th discussing on April 4th we have a community coming up next Thursday 6 p.m. sen house is called help save our communities awareness healthis Hill report uh just the follow uh they r a test program program last month survey parent 7% like the next year is was a central meeting I believe on May 2nd may very okay uhar the next meeting is Monday May 13 at 7 p.m. but um living lessons is going to take place on you know May 16th and um they mentioned that one of the living lesson speakers in conjunction with the drug awareness Council sponsoring it uh the public will be able to attend a program by want looking us speakers that evening with B 16 at the library where speaker author um was to Anastasia and I have a fire here anyone's interested in finding out information about but good opportunity to hear one of speak good job anything going on yeah this past weekend had their dance fundraiser which this year was a carnival theme kids had a lot of [Music] fun ni experi and what did you dress up as I I dressed up as a father sense fashion okay uh High School myft okay uh negotiating committees n karen uh thank you um we are very lucky in M Township to have such a fine teaching staff a fine professional staff a fine secretarial staff and M staff we also enjoy a positive professional andly relationship all of the St this is no better demonstrated than during negotiations we are currently engaged in negoti in negotiating a successor contract one will expire in June our sessions have been open Friendly and productive and we have made significant progress however there remains a few items that have been challenging to resolve as such both parties have agreed to bring a mediator to assist as I as I have publicly stated early on bringing in a mediator does not mean we W fail it just means we need little assistance we meeted the mediator on june3 and I am very hopeful that we'll be able to a settlement thank so the supervis [Music] ADR and so public participation now anyone wishing to talk about anything on the agenda uh please come up to mment desk your name address and your comments
