##VIDEO ID:5lgBoJPISBQ## e e e e e e e e e here good afternoon everybody this is the new Al Heritage preservation commission for Monday October 20th already or is it 21st 21st excuse me has everybody had a chance to uh review the August meeting minutes there's any corrections or additions move for acceptance second second all approve I all right then we'll go on to some design reviews in your packet we have a design review for Oak and pine Industries LLC there are 60 travel Drive Trail Drive out of Mano it's the old guten house 127 North Minnesota um they're looking at it's true real estate that's going in there and they're looking for awning and signage um I believe it's you've in your packet it shows orange but I believe it's going to be the gray awning with the signage on there and then the gray um up on top on the bulkhead and and also on the bottom you can see in the old pictures there it's a a green stone looking like product and that's getting covered with the gray also and Lewis is here if he can answer any questions um AR is doing the the front facade work for them and I assume that the signage on both sides because of that street Frontage they're good with it right square foot yeah they're allowed um 2 square ft per lot Frontage which is a 50t lot but the code States 75 ft or whichever is greater so it would be 75 Square ft and they're coming in with just shy of 50 square ft so the signage in the windows is that going inside the glass then we have no jurisdiction right so coffee Keller will still have some roughly 25 square feet to play with so we're looking at the gray pictures not the gray are the orange ones correct the I first received the orange ones and then um last week received the gray ones from Lewis and that's what was stated that they were going to go with I just kept both of them in there just in case okay so and you can see it's the gray and we've got the signage measurements on there also so looking for both the the uh awning and the the signage going up so we're basically looking at New Alm signage 3 correct correct okay so everybody got that okay so in new Al signage 3 are you keeping the white corrugated up above and the green below or nope they're going with both Grays that would uh see if I can get back to that one that's the second one second picture with the orange canopy is the what's going up on the top the gray color the signage is going to be on the canopy or on the that'll be on the top there on the C okay so nothing on the canopy I'm confused want to get up that state your name and uh LS uck with ARR Construction which one uh which one are you looking at I'm looking at one B looking at that one okay yep you see oh so the signage will go up on the cement board we're going to eliminate the corrugated steel that is there now we'll take that down we'll install cement board up there have that painted and cleaned up and then the signage would go up on that okay know somebody asked about the green on the bottom of the windows that's going to be gray also as well yep but that isn't going to require any demolition or anything you're just going to paint it uh we would install cement board we probably would chip off that old existing tile cuz it's already starting to crack and some of that's coming off there okay so I would take that off and then install my cement board over that all right does everybody understand what we're talking about okay so actually one be without the orange then go down to the other one with the gray awning right that's what we're looking at I I really like the way it looks right gray awning gray awning and then on the side it's also gray yes yep just like this here yep okay anybody have any questions I think it looks great I do too so I'll be looking for a motion I'll make a motion second second all in favor I I thank you very much thank you guys yeah have a nice day too City reports I have nothing you have nothing I have nothing either but jeie is going to talk a little bit about our uh trip down to Redwing for our Workshop that we went to so we went on red to Redwing and we went uh Wednesday afternoon so we could be at the opening reception which was held at the pottering Museum in Redwing which was to me was unbelievable I didn't realize how many Crocs or vases or figurines or plates or every color that you can think of so it was really amazing great food that night yep um so the next morning we went to the Sheldon Theater which was re it was restored um it's probably like a mini version of the Orum in Minneapolis very very nice very nice um so that was our opening um we did did a few sessions um we had a very good speaker her name was Emily she is with um oh she is with Main Street and she was a very good speaker and very enthusi about getting Main Street and herit preservation together working together um we really liked her she's very nice uh what else did we do oh we had this speaker who was a Professor talking about the Indian mounds how they're trying to preserve them a lot of people want to dig them up and do real estate in them and they're trying to preserve those so he was an interesting fella um we stayed at the St James Hotel which was very nice yes very nice we also did a tour of the red WI shoe company in their corporate office where they combine five different um uh five different Distributing buildings that they make into one and that was interesting how they were taking some things from their older buildings and making unique things out of tables conference tables um artwork and and what else did we [Music] see um one thing was very interesting to me about in this is in Wasa what they're doing in the high school is having the kids um write film so they can do it as a you and do videos of the history in Wasa and yet it's part of their program in the high school school so they're kind of writing things and you can also go through the web or a mobile app with that okay what else did we oh we took a tour downtown and seen some um apartments that they're redoing um which was quite unique they're trying to revitalize their upper buildings down there too so they're working at it pretty hard it was interesting for that for sure excuse me no no go right ahead you jump in whenever um what else did we see DP um oh but the oh they took a band stand that was in from 1932 and made it to a Band Shell which is quite unique and they have bands playing there like what I think once a week mhm pretty much yeah it's part of the park system kind of like like if we'd have taken German Park and have a band stand like that only it's ours is larger and of nothing theirs is under so they don't get rained on if it gets bad so but it's a unique texture architecture that they used and they utilized the band stand that was there which was open so they kind of Incorporated that all and then made it more modern so right they did um and then we took a tour went out to the Buffalo farm and we had this gentleman who was a very very very he was Indian he was very spoken very well um so he taught us all about what they're doing out there and we rode in a truck and we were with the Buffalo they actually raised the Buffalo to sell to or to incorporate with other Dakota County P like um the one on the cities at Shaka they can't because they don't have a buffalo thing but they keep the herd so that they've got more development as far as that and when they butcher the meat it goes all to the Indians so but it was a large large operation yeah and then we had an Indian tell us the story you know there's always some spiritual stuff you know that goes along with all that stuff but it was pretty then we were supposed to be able to go to see um stuff made out of birch trees ran out of time so I was kind of disappointed I wanted to see that yeah because had the one older gentleman was telling the story in his native tongue and then he told it so we could understand it and he was he did it well he just took a long time and telling the story and this is all the Dakota tribe down there which is actually part of this one around here too but I don't know if we do any exchanging of well we don't have I I wonder if they do with Mano Mano I think they do yeah yeah yeah so it was a very very nice it Redwing is very very nice to visit I like to go back again and just tour it yep so that's all that I have unless you no you did a good job I have one item oh it is is a feasibility study on Herman is that on our website or not I believe it is I mean if you want some interesting reading it's a 218 page document but it is interesting a lot of its pictures but it's interesting what's happening with Herman okay that's very nice though yeah I just if HBC is interested because eventually it'll come back here oh yeah that's okay I think we'll be ready does anybody else have anything else I just have a a question last meeting with the kaiserhoff we talked about that color didn't match the pallet when new ownership get up to your mic when new ownership takes over something are they made aware of the pallet and the restrictions right away I don't think that everybody does you know because I don't as we have to make it more well known that there are permits that have to be submitted to do that and I've been so busy I haven't been able to get more colors added to our palette so I'm in the process of doing that as soon as I get some free time I know I'm retired and I should be Freer but doesn't always work that way no it doesn't but I you know I just feel that anytime that happens they should get or when they apply for a like they did they did today for signage are they given all the restrictions that we have when they apply when they apply yeah we let them know that there's but they've already made some plans before that right well possibly yeah I mean it's not because we don't know when a building gets sold downtown that and signage doesn't necessarily always mean a color I mean we have to be careful what we allow but you know they can use different colors that are not always in our palette it's when they're doing stuff to the building that's more that has to be followed a little bit more but painting you know I suppose they just thought they were going to cover up the brown and didn't do anything about it so but I think we're going to get that probably that since it's a Bavarian color so to say I suppose we'll have to put that into our palette so okay thank you we welcome well if nobody else has anything have a good rest of the afternoon and this meeting is adjourned
