which we want to do and we don't want to hold you here any longer than than you bargain for so we're going to start the meeting uh there's going to be two board members that are arriving late by the good evening everyone Welcome to our October 28th regular business meeting we have a f we have a fantastic meeting plan first you will notice that the board is wearing pink to support breast cancer awareness and next we have multiple recognitions plans to honor our National Merit commanded students our AP Scholars our Eagle Scouts and our staff members that have achieved tenure the board wants to congratulate all of these great students and teachers on your achievements and the hits keep on coming in addition the board would like to congratulate the PB girls cross country team for a second County Championship uh seeing that they won it again I don't feel as bad knowing that a lot of them passed me during the rotary 5K this past year so it makes me feel a little bit better also I want to congratulate the pths marching band on their state championship this past weekend our band our ban received an overall score of 91.1 while taking home best visuals best guard and best overall effect uh we wish you guys the best of luck at the national competition coming up this weekend and keep going also want to congratulate Henry strubel for being selected as the sfc Steve De gregario Young Man of the Year award recipient my kids both have bikes by Hank and they loved them and we couldn't be proud of this young man and congratulate him okay and the last one the board would like to congratulate Miss Valerie Monroe for being selected as an unsung hero award recipient this past week at the njsba school boards convention this is an extremely high honor and a very much deserved honor to miss Monroe congratulations uh following the recognitions the board has two presentations planned one on the district harassment intimidation bullying or Hib assessment report and on the results of last year's State assessment uh as I said we have a great meeting planned and before we begin all that I want to give the board a moment to speak about their experience at the njsba workshop event that took PL that took place this past week the njsba workshop is a 4-day continuing education conference for school board members administrators superintendents and and business administrators the goal of the workshop is to learn new things and to receive training on topics related to your role within the school district and then use that information to help your District grow and better promote student achievement so I'm going to go first on Tuesday I was part of a panel that included two other school board members and a superintendent the panel was gathered to discuss positive board culture with a room of attendees how to achieve it how to promote it and how to maintain it the class was well attended and the questions ranged from how to onboard new board members so when someone comes on how to get them the speed how to deal with disagreement on your board and how to achieve a good board and superintendent relationship like we have in I spoke about our path to board certification and then to master board certification as well as how our board discusses items and genuinely genuinely agrees or I'm sorry really tries to understand each other and when we disagree we do with with respect and when we listen we do it with genuine interest uh I was very proud to have been asked to be put on the panel and I was also very proud of quic Township Board of Education that we are being used as an example across the state of what a high performing board is so I'll go first and I'm gonna go to Mr Bloomer next to discuss his experience and then I'll go back to miss esito all right are you leaving me out all together okay all right so um I attended a course called absenteeism struggles and solutions um so there's a natur so the the definition of student chronic absenteeism is 10% or 18 misad of school uh the national rate for absenteeism is 29.7% so um the presenters did a really good job of explaining reasons why absenteeism is um is is an issue and there's four areas that missing school falls under there's um there's barriers so it could be you know family issues that you know the school may or may not know about aversion of mixed messages uh disengagement of students and misconceptions uh they went into uh really great detail for areas uh which I had more time to really discuss those um but they really gave a good list of solutions and ideas about you know how to get a disengaged student to make sure that they are attending school and obviously the importance of it um things just like sit down breakfast uh having school open early with um an an opportunity to have a sit down with some staff and just e instead of coming to school like right on time or maybe a little bit late or you know staying outside just coming to school be engaged earlier and just get to meet more people meet staff um a lot of things that sound like common sense but you know you realize that if uh it just gives the kids more opportunities to um commun to uh socialize that they again become more engaged um there's also obviously absentee employee absenteeism that they discussed and they they said that there's a trend uh absent absent teachers create absent students um and that you know it could hurt a district in terms of increased cost in substitutes and just you know obviously promoting a good work u a workplace is is key to avoiding that on both ends so uh that was a class that I really took a lot out of all right Mrs Vito okay so um I ended attended two of my favorite were um I attended it was called the um accessing rapid and Rapid plus evidence-based literacy um instruction which was great it's actually a new initiative from the state um they will be mandating the these workshops in the 25 2020 schools school year um so it was really interesting um just about how they're going about it I did attend some of those workshops last year so it was great to see um how they're going to continue with it um it's it's really more about the science of reading and how we need to be instructing students on Phanatic awareness and on using hagr all kinds of really interesting teacher type lingo so it was it was very good and I also went to um my other favorite was mtss so multi multi-tiered system of support um and AI how you can use those two collaboratively in your iron action plans your it RTI model um that was really interesting it was um the person who was presenting was a superintendent of we Hawkin so it's very large district and what they're really how they're using data to drive their their tiers um and really how they better use AI um it was it was really very interesting thank you Mrs sesi thanks um so I've been going since 2014 and I will tell you that things have definitely changed the last 10 years at school boards uh a lot of the classes and learning labs and things like that have have really changed towards um Wellness uh security it's a big thing that I'll be with you 10 years ago wasn't such a concern in in schools um I went to a couple classes that I really enjoyed I went to some classes I didn't really love that much and uh the good thing about school boards is you can get up and walk out and go find something else that you like because there's like maybe 20 classes running at the same time but some of the ones I really enjoyed were uh collaborative leadership recruiting and Staffing strategies for the modern world Wellness by Design and rethinking HR Flintstones to the Jetson and uh it was pretty cool a lot of them were learning Labs there are so many changes in how the districts need to go out and find the best teachers and staff members and stuff now compared to 10 15 years ago um you know I don't know the numbers and I'm not pretend I do but I'm guessing that Dr Forst gets a lot less um people looking for a physics job than he did did maybe 10 years ago um I thought it was really good it was it was a uh it was a long four days but we got a lot out of it the one thing that I did uh really get out of this this this last week and it made me happy and proud is that it made me realize how well our board works together with Dr poris and and the rest of the administration and staff in relation to a lot of other districts there is a lot of stuff going out there in other districts it's an absolute nightmare uh the one thing that um you do get to you know you get to talk to a lot of other board members I wouldn't call it networking because we're not really looking to go anywhere or do anything but you get to hear a lot of the the things that are going on in other districts and the one thing I can tell you is that we definitely are on point here and focused for our kids um so it was a it was a great time uh looking forward to going back next year and learning some more all right and Miss dempy thank you so I wanted to talk about um a great session I went to called elevating student voices while breaking down barriers it was presented by the Netcong School District um and full disclosure they're a K8 District they're one building they have 100 middle schoolers and eight Middle School teachers so do you have to keep that in perspective but they talked about the passion period they developed and it came out of they had created an enrichment period and they showed their schedule and I was like oh that looks like our Middle School schedule with the ninth period block where we have the panther block um but they started the presentation by saying they did this enrichment period for acceleration and things like that and everyone this quote everyone hated it teachers hated it students hated it everyone hated it that's what they said so they wanted to do something different and they pitched to the teachers to propose anything they wanted to teach so it was really like what are you passionate about if you could teach anything what would it be and a history teacher wanted to teach statistics through fantasy football and a music teacher wanted to teach uh like Greek art history so everybody was just really tapping into what they're interested in and then they allowed so they set up a whole catalog of these classes and then in the first week of school the students get a Google form with the ones for the first trimester and then they do it for each trimester and they can rank their top five and pick what they want to take the courses are not graded because the teachers aren't certified in that subject area but they said they get better participation and better engagement because they're not graded which is what all the research on UNG grading actually shows um and it's intermingled grades so in thinking about could this how could this apply in a larger District they really emphasized how beneficial it's been to have sixth seventh and eighth graders all in a class together in something that they're interested in and what it's done for just relationships in the building the relationships between students and teachers because they see a science teacher in a totally different light um and in a different environment and the way they do it scheduling is the passion class happens on Monday Friday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday is still that enrichment period but they use it for pullout services for therapies they use it for their Bandon music program to get more students involved in that um and they students who are not doing any of those do 20 minutes of homework and 25 minutes of an I ready math or Ela path so that based on what the teacher recommends so it sounded like they're really combining The Best of Both Worlds with giving students time for some acceleration but also time to do something that they're really excited about and the teachers are really excited about it too so I just was really interested in how they pulled this off in thinking about how we're kind of continuing to look at like the best use of you know that Panther period at the middle school and they're more than willing to talk to anyone who's wants to learn more about it all right thank you that does it for my report I'll kick it over to Dr bis all right thank you Mr senic and I'm just going to point out I think it's the first time in recorded history that a board president received Applause at a board meeting during his report so I just want to thank everyone here for that we just set a new world record I'm also noticing the seating formation is like the Sharks and the Jets so we've got a nice nice cushion in the middle um I I'll be very quick with my report and then I'll send it over um to the zler sisters uh we started Red Red Ribbon Week this week which encourages everyone in the community take a stand against drugs uh students and staff were read today and great positive message to be able to share uh speaking of positive messages the high school hosted four years and Beyond last week turnout was phenomenal if you need good news I recommend checking out Mr hazler newsletter from Friday had a lot of pictures in the four years and Beyond and it was really inspiring to see um staff students families everyone uh working together to help make a really hockey field also one thing from the school boards too is really one wonderful for me to see uh Mrs Monroe recognized as an unsung superhero for anyone who's had the Hillview experience you had the Mrs Monroe experience and you know that's a really positive thing um so I was I was proud to see her get that recognition uh it was great to see it on on such a large stage as well before I to turn it over to to the girls for their report just gonna say that um we do have three student recognitions that'll be the Mr hazler show um could take a while but it's it'll be a really good while um and then we also are going to be recognizing our staff members who are achieving tenure uh Mrs dagger is very excited to be the first principal to announce staff members from Hillview and then we'll transition to the other principles and I just want to make a very careful distinction people say oh are you gonna give soand so tenure no there's no such thing as giving tenure tenure is earned um and it's earned through sustained excellence and um it's four years in a day and it's not just showing up to work for four years in a day it's doing your job committing to doing what best for kids and being um High achieving professionals so I really want to commend uh the staff members and we have a pretty lengthy list tonight and I'll point out that the four years that they've been working for the toughest years in history of education in this country so it I think it adds something to to the accomplishment the achievements so I just want to put that out there before we make the transition with that I'm going to send it over to the zler twins where they're very important and usually incredibly informative report good evening everyone so nice to see you all again congratulations to our AP recognize students and staff tonight I know we're often up here for for sports awards uh but it's really important that that we also recognize obviously academics and this is a great opportunity to do so a few weeks ago uh we went to Cedar Crest and I had the opportunity to present on the AP results and uh talked about the numerous accolades that we we got uh from our students in their performance and tonight we get to recognize our AP Scholars uh but before we do that I would like to recognize two very important students I would like to congratulate Nicholas sedot and Abigail Rylander for earning the status of a National Merit commended student for 2025 approximately 34,000 students across the country earn this distinction based on a nationally applied selection index score based on their performance on the PSAT in their junior year Nicholas is an outstanding scholar at pths he's currently taking two AP classes which are literature and composition and psychology he took AP US History and AP language last year he's also in the marketing Capstone class and our band Abigail is also an outstanding student at pths taking AP courses in literature pre-calculus English language and composition and AP us2 in the past two years she's also a member of our Allied Health Academy but most importantly about these two students is that they're humble about what they do you know they they they're in their classes every day they're given 110% they participate in activities here at the school and they're just symbols of what we want golden Panthers to be so I'm so so super proud of Nick and Abby and I'd like to call them up at this time e every fall the AP program recognizes high school students who have demonstrated outstanding college level achievement through their performance on multiple AP exams AP scholar Awards come in different levels and types there's the AP scholar which is granted to students who receive scores of three or higher on three or more AP AP Scholars who had an average score of a 3.70 we had 13 AP Scholars with honors with an average of 3.96 and we had 19 AP Scholars with distinction with an average score of 4.30 which I think is pretty amazing so let's give all of our AP students a round of applause we tripled the number of AP scholars in in one year which is pretty amazing so tonight we're going to be recognizing those students who are currently students here at pths and continuing in our AP program uh students who graduated last year uh did receive a letter of commendation uh from me in the mail uh and really just along with an eagle scout board of review for each of these projects these students needed to come up with a project that benefited the community then they had to get it approved plan it fundraise it recruit volunteers and carry out the project I've been involved in several eag Eagle Scout projects and it's just amazing to watch the students uh grow throughout the process and and what they've done throughout this community is truly remarkable so tonight I'd like to recognize five students first up is Michael Blackman Thompson come on up Michael's a junior of pths he recently completed his equal 30,000 Eagle Scouts um over the course of a year to get the that get this award so it's pretty amazing you know along with our committed students you know that we're really doing a great job in this community raising great great kids and that's uh I've been honored I got to coach three of them as they grew up you know from third grade on so it's just a pleasure to see what they become so congratulations to all of our students this evening and to the parents thank you for all you do really appreciate it you guys can stay for the interesting part later on if you want the voting the Voting is so much fun sign all right so um I'm gonna move on to uh recognizing the accomplishments of our staff and I'm an I'm extremely proud um to be recognizing several faculty members from Hillview Elementary that are earning tenure and uh Dr poris knows that when I I recruit faculty and staff um I look for rock stars and um these four individuals were total rock stars from the moment I met them um and they continue to maintain that Rockstar status today uh the first person we'll recognize um is so great she actually has earned tenure twice in the district uh she worked at North Boulevard for a long stretch of time took some time off to raise her family and then hilie was lucky enough to scoop her back up so that's alen Esposito and uh next we have our um amazing school counselor Nubia fansa our ldtc Abigail goof and a uh former rid High graduate which you know really is close to Dr portoes in my heart uh Carly sco kindergarten teacher redil a little a little bit after I did too yeah okay and I'm gonna pass it off to Dr SL I'm here on behalf of North Boulevard as well as special services because uh the two that I have kind of uh cross over and our godsends and both ends of special services and toward North Boulevard as well um first I have Megan Garmin who's receiving tenure as a special education teacher Megan come on down then Al although she's listed as a district uh staff member we do keep Kelly Quinn to ourselves quite a bit so Kelly Quinn come on up congratulations on tenure T has one recipient this year and he is a special ed at social studies teacher he's not only a great teacher but he's just he's someone who really connects with kids and that's Gino florry pths is proud to recognize seven teachers who are receiving tenure who have digital art teacher Mary Tumi business teacher who couldn't be here this evening Al wein so congratulations to Al let me think back to all the teachers up here I don't know how many of I know I interviewed probably all of you on Zoom um you know and and during that time was just a crazy crazy time as Dr Portis said um but congratulations to all of you for what you do for our kids and for our community every day we really appreciate you and thank you for all you do congratulations Qui and Now for Something Completely Different gonna say I won't be offended if people get up and leave which they are which is totally totally and I'm just going to give a quick introduction uh Dr AEF is and his first year as our anti-bullying coordinator um he's put a lot of work into generating the presentation I know we collaborate with Mr rer on it um admittedly the material is pretty dry but it is a state requirement and one that we want to fulfill um with the utmost integrity and so Dr sure ke the audience is yours thanks for what's left of it I would just need theed image yeah Chris we need the presentation up there try to keep this as entertaining as I can no problem listen all right good evening everyone um as Dr Porter said this is It's a state requirement but you know anytime self assessment comes around um you know it's a good chance to kind of examine what we're doing and you know the tone that was struck at the beginning of the meeting is is we do a lot well in pan and Hib um though maybe not the most positive topic is Under The Heading of something that we do quite well uh we self assess not just because it's a requirement under the law um it also gives us an opportunity to reinforce and strengthen our practices um there is a long well not long there's a presentation R around njsla so I'm going to kind of Breeze through this but if there's questions Etc please uh feel free to to stop me self assessment rating scale goes on a scale of 0 to three um each building does their own assessment and then we take the sum of those scores there are eight core elements um I won't read bullet for bullet we can all do that I'll just kind of get the overview most of these areas we we achieve 100% those Focus areas I'll highlight where we um still have a little bit more work to do the first areas program approaches other initiatives um a lot of this has to do with uh creating a school safety team each building has that um as well as just other General programming uh we did earn a 15 out of 15 however I did put a focus area that because we did do a climate survey last year we're in a good position to start using some of that climate data this year um and going forward um we're looking to possibly be doing that every other year as well training on Boe approved uh HIV policy this has to do obviously with training for administrators and staff members um as well as communicating these policies to parents we have a obviously an up-to-date Hib uh board policy that's posted on the website uh we achieved the full credit for this one um other staff instruction and training programs um these are types of things well that are a little bit more um kind of community oriented we do the week of respect um we also have um ongoing age appropriate instruction for example uh Terry prek at PB does the Hib lessons in the classrooms um the psychologists at the elementary schools do programs as well um one of the things that continues to be a focus area for us and it's we're not the only District that that has this but this is something that um I I'd like to try to T tackle this year is to procure training for all school safety team members at an hour that's convenient for parents on the team they do make a stipulation that you can't just unfortunately watch a video and count that as training um they they do prefer it to be as a team so obviously you can learn as a team and that it's a in person so um I'll be on the lookout for that core element for a lot of these are are a lot of overlaps you'll see week of respect here is again this is curriculum instruction on HB and related information and skills again it's not just uh bullying is and is not but it's not also on uh caring School communities one of our one of our initiatives as well as just general character education that is infused throughout all the disciplines core element 5 has to do more with the Personnel piece of it um the each principal has appointed an anti-ban specialist that person is responsible for carrying out the investigations the superintendent has appointed an ABC that's me to handle the kind of uh timeline and the paperwork aspect of it as well as the the reporting aspect the other piece is that our school safety team meets at least two times per year in each building we had an average last school year of 3.2 meetings take all the buildings that's our average so we're actually doing more in that regard than is required I'm aiming for three or four this year myself School level Hib incident reporting procedures this is just essentially that we follow all of the uh timelines uh for reporting um and all of the actual elements in the reports themselves uh very closely related to that is core element 7 which is the actual procedure um all of this is just about adherence to the timeline this is the investigation within 10 school days of thecid uh written incident report um my preparation of the report that goes to Dr poris um and then the results of the investigation um that's reported to the board and and the communication to the parents that happens after that so we're we're very tight on our timelines I I want to give a shout out to all the ABS is in the five buildings as well as Dr Portis just because it's it's not always an easy feat when you're dealing with the human element um in in a timeline like this uh and the last piece of this is just there's a um procedure for ensuring that staff member reports include all required information um and we use form 339 which is the state approved report uh we also have transferred all of our uh investigation to Hipster uh which is an online platform that enables us to collect artifacts ensure that we're adhering to the timeline um that we're following the letter of the law and when we decide if something is uh an HIV or not so over the last four years again prior to my tenure here I have to attribute this to to a number of people not myself uh for these accomplishments um we've done professional development we want to uh continue that with our SST um our school safety teams meet at a minimum um multiple times a year we've upped uh the way we use our reporting documents we now use hipster uh the two just areas for focus and this is the last slide so congratulations you've made it through um at least one of the Powerpoints this evening um is that we will be doing PD for um all the school safety team members um I have a couple of former colleagues who who have been met with success so I I'll be reaching out to them uh the other piece of this is just that we'll be really starting to incorporate the school uh climate team uh the school climate survey excuse me data as we start looking at programs initiatives um and even profile of a graduate um this year and Beyond so I would just like to conclude by just thank youing thanking thanking all of the abss um those are the people who are really their boots on the ground do the Lion Share of the investigating um connecting with kids connecting with parents and so forth and also just give a shout out to Mr Matt Riner who was um instrumental in helping me just kind of assume this role even though I had this role before in another District every district has their own sort of idiosyncrasies and and panic really is top-notch when it comes to this so thank you all very much and happy to answer any questions that people may have so it looked like there were a lot of goals that have been completed Leed towards the end of the presentation and one that's still in progress so are we looking to formulate like additional goals like how are we going to continue growing and advancing yep so the school safety team meets it's going to be meeting three to four times this year and during one of those meetings the idea is that hopefully we'll be able to find a time to have actual training during that meeting so that's like literally that one point that we missed is just because we didn't do a training because you all have to be present for that training so that's the main the main piece there um and then the climate survey actually didn't lose any points because we we did administer it it's more just a a a goal that's uh unique to us as a district because we administered it to try to use some of that data thank you all very much thank you DRS uh next presentation uh we're going to share is our state assessment results presentation this is also a state requirement um but that doesn't negate the fact this is really important information that we're working with because this gives us actual student learning measurement data that's actionable and we can get into very granular fine detail about it um I will be joining Miss manal over there in a moment um but I'm also very proud to say too that she's really taking control of this presentation and I I say that um with the utmost um guess of a compliment as well as a little bit of relief on Myan too I I've met my match in terms of passion for breaking down data and looking at not only the story it tells us but really what we have to do with it so I'm really excited for this um this presentation too we we we've been going over it the last few days to make sure that we're as precise as possible um we are aware of not committing two different forms of Death by PowerPoint that are possible one is to have an exhaustive amount of slides um it's going to look like we have a lot of slides because we do but they're very quick slides um she deporto the slides which means she took a lot of text out of them included images and numbers um we're also not going to read these verbatim for you because that's agonizing U but the presentation will be shared on the on the district website um as we are presenting if you do have questions as we're going feel free to chime in as as the process unfolds um if things become more crystallized at the end you want to wait to then that that's fine as well um but I I'm I'm proud to say that this is really going to be uh Mrs V's um presentation certainly a lot more than mine um and should she's going to really talk about the direction she sees us going in with this information so rather a lengthy Preamble but this is a really important presentation andry it's all yours so I'll come around okay um when I click um so real quick order the presentation I'm not going to go through you'll see as we go um so in terms of um njsla um access for Ells and the dynamic learning Maps um every year we need to report this data within 60 days we're within that window um the goal is basically to look at where we're at and where we can improve and what what are our strengths so um as a team we look at all this data over the last few months in different ways breaking it down in different ways and um so we'll share with you um some of our insights and uh where we want to go with it uh so Ela and math have five different levels our goal is to get students to levels four and five five is exceeding four meeting these are the number of students with the valid scores um so we may have students the the the numbers might not be identical is um students who are multilingual Learners um might be exempt from the ELA exam their first year um so there may be differences with in terms of the numbers of valid scores uh per grade level and um in grade eight just so you know we'll say this at least five or six more times um in grade eight students take either the eth grade math or the algebra test um and in grade nine they take either Algebra 1 or geometry so as Dr Porters mentioned um less text pictures tell a greater story um so this is our Ela overall percentage of students um meeting or exceeding expectations per grade level we have a district overall average of 71% um and I'll compare the grade levels in a two-year comparison in a few future slides this is where we get all the data that goes to create that chart um and basically in this just a real quick overview um when we look at the column with our average scores that scale score is what what we look at first when we're looking at proficiency students need a 750 or better to pass the uh test and levels one to three are where are students who are below proficiency levels four and five are those met and exceeding um so that last column is our percentage that you saw on the slide before for each grade level so this is just a little bit more of a breakdown um by level so you can see what percent our students are at um what we wanted to note here is that one um we average 20 point percentage points higher than the state average in the scale score so that's pretty um that's pretty good and grades eight and nine oh oops have um right down here um 35% in 8th grade and 50% of the students in nth grade are exceeding expectations in ela so those numbers are very strong um in focusing on student needs this level three is a lot where our interventions happen um we usually there's just a few questions that they're short a student with a 748 probably missed one question student with a 743 probably two or three questions so we do a strong focus on there to identify what interventions we can do for the students um what what are our resources what are our um instructional practices so really looking at those students to see where we can help move that needle up um having the pause period at the elementary school having the panther period at the middle and high school um and doing a real deep dive on data at the individual level to look at what standards the students are missing and how we can support and move them up in ela um we identified AAL text and writing are the two zones that if we can move more students a lot more students will pass so that's where we're focusing a lot of our professional development and work with the teachers this year we also need to report out student groups these used to be called subgroups and um they're all on one slide just to make it easier so ml is our multilingual learners formerly Ells um what's important to note on this slide is that a student can cross several of these categories so obviously you can have a student who's female Hispanic possibly an IEP and multilingual learner so students may be captured in more than one way in this um in this slide um what's amazing is our former multilingual Learners 93% passing which is phenomenal um we're really excited about that um areas that we now look and do a deeper dive how can we support more students who are multilingual Learners currently and these might include students who literally just got to the country um like a year ago so we can do multilingual Learners work um we look at our students with IEPs how can we support them um and the other category is looking at economically disadvantaged students so again they you could have similar students the same student across several categories there um but we can look very deeply at individual data to support them and this is a lot of data but it breaks down all those subgroups into percentages which allows us again to focus on areas that we need to support um one thing we noticed is um the students in grade three we had a large increase in students who had IEPs from the year before we went from less than 10 to 42 so that was a huge jump in um IEPs in that and um the majority of our grade six IEP students um narrowly missp passing so we had a lot of students fall into that level three bubble um so we're looking how we can support them better in that area um one thing that so we also need to show you a trend analysis which is our two-year comparison um so we have red our goal is to have the red bars go down and our goal had the green bars go up so in a nutshell we're looking at this is grade three to grade three grade four to grade four grade five to grade five but what I like to look at is even deep in that how did the students who were grade three last year perform in grade four this year and if we look at that we can see that our grade three um students in 2023 out of 67 but in grade four in 2024 they went up to 79% so if we look at how the students are progressing vertically it's really important for us to check and see how those those students are doing so it's not just about comparing um the grade level but really talking about individual students and how they're showing grow oh sorry yes but what's interesting is that it was a difference of only eight students so when you're looking at the drop because we're small we have smaller numbers we actually have to look at the number of students to help us put it in context um those students from grade three to grade four we had 22 more students passed which is amazing um the other thing I look at when I do a deep dive on this is how many students are in the class overall so did was there a big jump in numbers in the class was there uh did we lose students in the class so we can do a deep dive to really find out exactly um are these new students coming into the district did we lose some students things like that to identify really where um where we can support grade three this year had a lot more iops than previous just a quick question on the previous slide before it gets too far along uh multilingual students what qualifies for a I guess it's a couple back but what qualifies for what's the definition of a former multi ml student they a former ml student has been exited from the program and the state tracks them um on testing at least I think three years um so that's they would fall into that category is just they have to perform at a certain level to exit to through the program it's not a certain yes and I'll talk about that when we get to the access says test okay and then just one last question you table to later as well uh what has been the increase of multilingual students over the last couple years in the district that is an excellent question pleas John with the with the multilanguage Learners um that's the that's the group that used to be known as ESL students and then um I I actually don't like the new designation yes the multilanguage Learners which is markable but it creates a little confusion because are they multilingual um fluent in multiple languages or are they processing requiring a level of proficiency and English they don't take tradition desl classes yeah I just curious to see how much resources we're putting in year after year um and if they increasing dist I think so Mr yeah and Dr o'keef has left but he's definitely we've been talking about um how we are supporting them because we are seeing an influx influx of more students um the other Trend analysis we need to do is a fiveyear analysis now this is six years but we wanted to show pre-co numbers so for grades three four and five the goal is to have Trend the trend to go up but in terms of looking at where we're at compared to where we were preco um we're trending in that direction our grade three want to Trend a little higher but again this particular year we had um a higher number of students that um possibly need to support more so this is just trend lines just to kind of help us uh gauge that we need to go on the up swing are all of our elementary schools kind of the same as each other or is there distinct differentiation between I would say they're similar there's not a distinct differentiation but there's there's pockets of things that might be different as we look at the data like um one school in particular um in grade four I noticed like um in our literature standards there was um an area of of of integration and knowledge that I'm like okay we need to focus a little bit there but in another school it was informational text so we are looking at that level it's hard to compare that directly because the um the different standards that we're looking at might be different in one than the other but it helps get us data about what we can support that particular school on in a grade level yeah it's it's really great that you made out the data and you're able to look at it like that I think that's love data Amina tells the story right um okay so Middle High School similar um to what we did grade three four five just to show we want the red to go down and the green to go up and we're looking at the cohorts um I just wanted to note for our cohorts from grade six to seven um we had nine more students pass and from 8 to nine we had an additional 13 students pass so even though the numbers are similar like again these well we're so small um it's really more about who are those 13 kids and who are the other 10 kids that we could have gone to pass to move up I want to find those students and help them uh similar here our Trend we want to Trend up grade seven had a bit of a dip here so we're looking into that um to again what are our interventions what our instructional practices what's our resources uh what can we do to shift that up I'm not going to read all of these um but in a nutshell uh we do have interventions and support plans going and we have goals um tier one um Miss espito mentioned the multi-tiered systems of support one of my favorite words and things to focus on so tier one is how you support all the students in a grade level what are you doing there so unpacking our standards um using all this data on a deeper dive um Dr por just likes my heat Maps so does so do the principles because we can really get down to the student level um we're increasing writing conferences um training on small group differentiation um giving students more ownership through literacy conferences and um basically supporting our work with informational taxt across content areas science social studies business at the high school all areas we're talking about how can we increase student engagement with informational text as that's a focus to improve tier two and three would be those additional supports we provide to students in small groups and which is either in class with the teacher or um out of class as in U Panther period or academic support after school at the high school and middle school um introducing writing interventions um evaluating student progress again with the data and um collaborating between teachers is really important just one quick mention about the heat maps that I really like is um this is something she brought up in her interview and then had like pocket conversations I think for hours afterwards um but it's really great to be able to break down by standard um how each student is performing so you're looking at an overview if we have 150 fourth graders we're able to see standard by standard um and something that's in color where are we seeing areas where we're particularly strong well we see a lot of green we know we're doing well there if we see patterns where there's a lot of red or whether it's light red dark red whatever it might be it it creates that Visual and it makes it a lot easier for us to instantly jump to what we want to Target it's all well and good Mrs vll and I are picking that up but when she can share that with the principles it makes it even that much more relevant because they're going to turn and share that out as are the supervisors with the teachers and the teachers can see the students who are in their classroom this is what last year's performance data is telling us so these are the areas you need to specifically Target and if I had a class last year where I can look at the heat map I can also see reflect on my lesson planning my instruction what did I maybe not do enough of therefore it's clearly in the red what did I do really really well so it helps teachers recognize what strength they need to build on or they can build on but also what needs to be addressed more thoroughly based on the performance metrics and we've been um uh as a team meeting with the at the supervisors and the principals meeting um and we already also had meetings with um the reading Specialists and grade level teams at at the elementary schools where this is a process of getting out to everybody but having conversations with them with those heat maps and um all the feedback so far has been really great because they are like we've never had data this at this level before that we can actually that is actionable so I'm excited about that um and before you go on I wanted to ask you one question those uh that information that you're able to filter down and distribute to the teachers you kind of you're able to also sit with them and make sure they understand it make sure they understand the proper way to apply it and which students need that help and there's there's a mechanism there for that as well yes um basically uh I we have three data meetings this week with um teachers and uh the principal at sjs where we're sitting and we're spending time looking at these spreadsheets going over individual students and going through the data and being like Yep this student right here needs help with writing support on literary analysis tasks go so when the teacher is doing that they know those are the students right there that they're going to need to provide additional support and I'll put it in there too for the administrator goals um one of the goals that they can select is to conduct a certain number of data meetings with targeted group of teachers and I just checked with Mr seasi Mr hazler I know they both have submitted them been approved so um what I like is they're setting goals for themselves that are aligned to District objectives that are going to force them to make sure that they're following up on these discussions with teachers so it's not enough just to tell somebody in October hey here's the data do something great with it to find out in December February in March or April as the year is progressing how are we how are we doing with what we've determined needs to be targeted and then what is the on ongoing data telling us what are current metrics telling us so it's it's really great become it becomes part of a much longer and larger conversation and to get the Buy in from the principles um helps us enormously because that filters down more in a more relevant way to the staff I could stand up here talk about how important I think all this is is but if it doesn't make us way to the teachers it's it's largely for show it's irrelevant but so what we're seeing right now is with with them buying in with what she's sharing I think you're going to see you're gonna see it used at a more authentic level I'm sorry can I just they're documenting um they're documenting the def these deficits or these targeted um standards within their lesson plans correct or is that not yeah so the standards are they're the standards right but we can identify particular ones right if when we unpack this one particular report that is like a gold mine in njs it's called the content roster report that's where we can actually take this and break it out by the students into like these three standards here these three standards so we can make it very specifically targeted and they can identify the students who they're going to need support as they're working through those lessons um and I think uh benchmarks is a big um thing I know um speaking to um Alyssa bardino our Ela supervisor um she's working very hard on on developing benchmarks so that we can do more progress monitoring along the way earlier with this but we use I as a benchmark um and uh common lit has benchmarks so we do have a a bunch in process so we're looking at how we can do that with writing um because those really focus on reading okay now oh I'm sorry can I ask one more I didn't realize you were moving on ask one more question question on the previous slide so I see that um I I like that the last bullet is increasing reading stamina and comprehension and all of that and we're seeing this like so the the post the postsecondary level there's like zero reading stamina whatsoever so is that also something we're looking at in grade six through 12 like I don't see it explicitly called out in here but are we still doing long form reading in high school and things like that to work on that say yeah that's good that's important suddenly they come to college and they don't want to read anything yeah I think it's definitely we started last year doing um sustained reading in classes so first 10 minutes come kids come in and read I actually observed a lesson today uh the the teachers were reading for 10 minutes the teacher read along with them um independent reading not affiliated with the actual curriculum they students could pick a book from our classroom librar so we've we've really been working on building up our classroom libraries um our teachers have done a lot with that Miss Bren jur has been a big big help with that in terms of building up the libraries but it was great to see kids come up and say oh I read this book already can I pick a new one right so it was it was great to see and that's something that was happening at all grade levels I love this tag team I think we should do this all the time just bring everybody up okay math um it's gonna follow the same format um so math uh I'm I'm math is my gem I want to see math scores go up so um here's where we're starting from uh Miss minut um math is a reading test the math just so you know this math test is a reading test so um it has been um across the different districts I've worked and math has seem to be always lower than the reading um there's a lot going on with the different grade levels things are not all identical in the grade levels it's important to note in grade eight students get split they end up taking the math 8 test or they take algebra one um when we're looking at um our grade eight students who take algebra one 100% of them passed so but their scores are looped in with the algebra one scores from the high school so that algebra one is all of our students that take it in eth and nth grade um and eighth grade math is um stud students who just took the eighth grade math test what's important to note is we had 13 more students passed so even though it looks like there was a dip we had 13 more students in that grade level actually pass our math test whether it was algebra 1 or uh the math 8 test and I think that's a really important point to the growth we're doing in eth grade um and geometry could be uh is our ninth grade students um so nth graders take either algebra one or geometry um test so there's a lot lot going on with math it's not as easy to do the cohort work as it is with the other grades um and on this slide I did want to just note that in seventh grade um seventh grade we had 58% pass but um Mr sabaski and I were talking about how when we look at the current ninth graders those students over three years gained 25% percentage points in their growth from grade six to grade eight which is that's a lot so even though we again looking at cohorts is really important because we want those students to grow and not every grade is the same so it's hard to compare grade to grade um the other point uh we were talking about seventh graders is we had 33 students at that level three 33 who had scores between 742 and 749 so if we can just move them up two three questions that would be we would be at 75% proficiency so that's why it's really important to look at the inent interventions the standards for those particular students and um how we can support the individual student to get what they need oh one other point on this um as we noted in ela that informational text and writing are our Focus modeling and reasoning are um scored on these tests um modeling reasoning take up about out of about 58 points 22 points so on every grade level so it is a huge piece of the test and that is a practice we need to um constantly improve on in our instructional practices so we're working on that um again with our student groups um similar our multilingual Learners and our I our students with IEPs areas we need to support former multilingual Learners are doing very well well here um so those are two two groups we're looking at deeper and this is all their data um if it says n less than 10 um we have less than 10 students in that student group so we don't report out the numbers if it's a little Aster that means we have no students in that student group in that particular grade level taking that assessment um what I think is important here is that when we look at our passing average um um our percent passing in the grades compared to the state uh we average 24 percentage points higher than the state um across these grade levels and in grade eight we're 31 points higher than the state and in Geometry we're 37 points higher than the state so while we all want to get those numbers higher we are doing fairly well in comparison to this state Trend analysis again you could just see real quick um where we're at um if we look at these numbers individually as in terms of particular numbers what those 68 to the 69 or um what those mean um they just come down to a few students and we want to Trend up so we're kind of close to where we are preo but we need we have a little work to do here um six seven and eight again noting eighth grade these students these students took the eighth grade math this does not include our Algebra 1 students again trending up all three of these are trending up so that's good we want to keep going they're about at pre-co levels these are all of our algebra one students and our geometry students uh trending up algebra um took a bigger dip um following Co in 2022 um but they're on the rise up so we're looking to improve that and then finally with the tier supports here again we've done a lot of work with conquer math with our teachers which has been uh received very well and um so we're we're still we have two cohorts working through those there's a lot of workshops going on with that this year uh we're going to emphasize modeling reasoning across all the grade levels and um for additional support again small group and working through Panther period and progress monitoring our students to make sure we're um moving in the right direction similar goals to ELA um but in addition here we're securely held knowledge um the students are tested on Knowledge from before the grade level that they're in so that's an area in modeling and reasoning where we need to make sure that the students are retaining information that they had the year before um and uh just something to work on any questions on Ma he science is yes yeah just one question you had said that the the feedback you're getting from the professional development is all positive yeah very positive is there any other professional develop that you think looking at this that we could be taking advantage of or you think that the conquer math and the other things that we're doing with math address all of the the points that you want to hit on so I look at um one the professional development that we're giving our teachers conquer math focuses strongly on concrete to abstract and uh concrete to picture to abstract which is how our brain works best when we're learning mathematics is students coming up through so um and also unpacking the standards it's really important that the teachers understand what it is that the standards requireed because that's what they're being tested on in these tests so that piece is important two looking at all the data that we're analyzing driving that down to the individual student needs and then how does the teacher take the instructional strategies they're learning through conquer math um and other PD that um we're providing um and then Translating that to the student student and making that connection there to help them um I think is important and then the third thing I think is important to look at our resources um how our resources aligned to the true um the true requirements of the standard it's not just there's some not there's no Pro perfect program out there at all no matter what it is you have to be able to take that program and um use manipulatives and use um pictures and the abstract word to get to what the standard is asking the student to do so it's not just all about algorithms anymore it's really a little bit deeper than that so I think there's a lot of different pieces here so instructional practice data and the resources that we're using um time is always a factor you know I would love math but I won't say that out loud um but it's something that like when we're again when we're supporting the students through the panther period or the pause period how are we or after school before school whatever we're doing how are we doing to support them um with a little bit more time that they need um as well so there's a couple there's like different prongs to that the way I look at it I'm sorry I just just one quick question in regards to um small group instruction at PV and pths are we emphasizing it not only in Panther period but within let's say the math block um because I know it is difficult as an educator in the higher grades to really utilize small group instruction I think it's something that um it's like a kind of like a teaching cultural Right movement of like switching to that small group instruction because I don't think it's necessarily fair to just rely on Panther period for that small group targeted interventions or instruction that need to occur but it is you know it it is it is deemed easier at an elementary level than it is at a high school or middle school level right so being having some been some some who taught with smaller groups at an eighth grade level um it's definitely doable it's a matter of how do you shift your um Shifting the the thought of your the way your classroom works as a model from I can stand in front of everybody and get all this information out or I can shift so I would say it's definitely conversations we're having as we're talking about Ela small group instruction how can we support more with math because um honestly not every student needs small group instruction every day but students need it more often than others so how can we reach them more often so yes conversation having sure so um you've made reference several times to like being able to drill down to the individual supports that specific students need through the data so are we communicating those kinds of supports and that intervention to parents and if so how and how is that happening at the at the like six through 12 level where we don't have dedicated parent teacher conferences so having been my eighth week here in this role um just kid um so first what we first the first step in rolling out these um showing the principles and the teachers how we can go down to that data is the first step and actually before we can the parents get individual student reports that the state provides right at that level if we identify students who need additional academic support and through um like our Title One fun programs and that obviously they're going to get information and communication with us and through those conversations they should be able to find out oh I know your student needs more help directly in this um particular standard area um in terms of on a general basis I don't know that we'll be sending out all of this data it's a lot of data um but for the ones that we want to support and intervene I think that's where um when we identify them and we're working with our parents in progress I would expect those conversations would happen yeah and that's what I'm referring to is where we're really seeing like there's a significant need for a particular student in a particular area I think I think parents would appreciate knowing that and knowing like if it is going to be small group instruction happening in the panther period to be able or that the student is recommended at the high school to go to that to be able to reinforce that and say well I know you're supposed to be doing this are you doing this on Tuesdays with Mrs so and so okay thank you okay science is way shorter um science has four levels um and you cannot compare the cohorts basically because they're three years apart all the time um but we are meeting um an ex we are beating the state um proficiency level um Sciences across the state is much lower um so we are looking at how we can uh look at our courses um the especially for grade eight is there an order that we could adjust in our course sequence that um would support more uh because there is a lot of reading in science there's a lot of writing in silence and there's a lot of math in science so those tests are I would say much more rigorous um for sure um so again this is just the breakdown by the levels um we also cannot pull the data like we can for ELA and math the state doesn't give us those reports so I can't dive deep into those as much um which I would love they give us more um that is an excellent question I don't know why they don't provide us you know one thing it's it's a different company that does the science tests but yes every time I'm at a state assessment conversation I ask them for more data and science so I don't know um so for interventions and support in science um one we're looking at um how can we integrate more assessment type questions and uh exposure to the students we're utilizing a program called inner orbit um which does that for us so I'm excited to see how that it also gives the teachers great data on the students that we don't get from the state test so I like I said I'm I'm interested in seeing how that works um and uh I know edop are are science U supervisor definitely thinks physics is something more students should take to help us in these areas so we're looking at our high school our our programming across the like I said across middle school and high school just you know what what which of these courses help our students do well in this test um so Trend analysis just real quick um again want to go we want the green to go up and the red to go down and we want these to go up so trending up yes s Mr oh I'm so sorry wow okay good note good note for new I will all right the shapes the shapes are what we're looking at okay interesting but yes I did add the shapes and made sure the shapes were different on each of the lines um okay access for Ells um this is our um weda is the weda is the test that we provide to our multilingual Learners to see how their language proficiency is moving along these are all the languages spoken by our students who are involved in our program um we had 33 students take the assessment with an overall proficiency average of 3.3 uh they need a 4.5 in order to exit our ESL program unless a parent refuses the services which can um and students who exit still take the access testing even after they've exited the program if they were like a parent refused the service so we still have to capture them even if they're not in the program so that's just the data on that did I answer your question um before okay um Dynamic learning Maps this is for our more uh severely cognitive impaired students they do not take the njsla we had 11 students take the DM in ela and math and I'm very excited that we had five who were at Target for ELA and six of those students um were Advanced or at Target in math so that's wonderful and last slide um next steps I really mentioned all of this already so um I don't think that there's anything else I can add other than what we're doing any questions left over real quick I I think you did a great job um we you'll learn that this group likes to ask for Geographic narrow areas uh when everything is are you able to drill down not just by the state comparison but like Geographic you know like size schools and things like that not yet but um it's something that we definitely want to talk about um we we had discussions about how we used to get um with our school performance reports we would get performance groups that were schools that were determined to be similarly situated based on um economic factors demographics and state stopped doing that we still have access to what those groups were it's kind of like the district Factor groups that they don't necessarily endorse anymore but we still use the the old information so something that am Mar an Marie and I were talking about last week is looking at what are the performance groups that we could start to compare ourselves to because yes leader Roosevelt said comparison is the thief of joy and it's a brilliant line however it's also pretty exciting from an educational perspective because you want to see how are we sizing up with um with our peers and so with that in mind we we're not afraid also to reach out to some of those peer schools and get some ideas from them about if we're getting if we're getting smoked by somebody on grade five math what are they doing that that's really working so what what can we possibly get from them so it's yeah it's competitive because if there's a score it is competitive and I say this knowing full well that you guys have a Giants and a Yankees game to watch so I'll hustle it up here but they're already losing well that just put a damper on the meeting but um but in terms of how we compete with other schools it's more of a friendly rivalry um you know if we're competing with Wayne for something we'll we'll share openly so to your point Joe it's a big not yet but it's something that I know we're really excited about U because I know when I was a principal I really liked seeing how Hilby was scoring V the our competition and I have a lot of friends in other districts and I'm constantly like how are you guys doing this what are you using what are you doing to support so okay thank you that was great thank you thank you for answering all of our questions as well because we tend to have a lot hi Mr Gibbs do you have a report uh yes good evening on this evening's board agenda there's a resolution to approve the M1 maintenance plan for for the 2025 2026 school year the M1 form is a form that outlines the anticipated maintenance that's going to be done to the schools attorney review the Auditors have started the 2324 audit and is an anticipated that will be complete they will have completed their field work on or about no November 1st the new playground at North please move the minutes I'm sorry can I just say something sure go ahead just to clarify the um $2 million for or the negotiations for that building is not just for the board office it's for for other for school placement as well right for preschool it's well we're look we're looking to put a preschool in there yes okay just just so the community is aware we're not you know the board is not looking or the district is not looking to spend $2 million on a board office per se it's really for an early learning Center as well yes there are two floors the second floor or the third flever you want to phrase it will be the board office with classrooms but the second floor will be strictly preschool thank you and thank you Gordon for all your work on us and one thing too with with the space that that provides too um we're looking to get Beyond prek as well um I would like to um provide space if possible for um an 18 to 21 program you know and these are all things things that space allows us to to do um and it's really at a premium right now so I'm excited for this and I I do appreciate the board support throughout this process as well as uh as well as Mr gib's Incredible hard work with may speak on any topic for a maximum period of five minutes by the clock public may speak again on any topic and if you do have a question direct it to the board president state your name and sign in before you begin uh John asan Sunset Road Plains uh just a a couple quick comments of my own one on the uh the testing assessment assessment slideshow I think um using PTSD as an abbreviation it's like a softball for this students and staff so might just want to put peq period or something in there in some of those columns and then um regarding the new board space um as far as like Community uh information being out there um it was my understanding that it's not optional like where you are is going away and you need to find a new space Maybe I misunderstood that along the way but if that is true I would certainly put that out there that this is not just you decided you want a nicer place to live this is you need to find someplace to go and you may have found a space that will provide additional opportunities for our district to provide other services in the same location uh and then I'm also here uh for the high school uh music parents Association uh last Friday at the football game uh Mr Curtis the the band teacher um from PV he brought over about 30 Middle School band students um it's called marching band Panther for a day they come over right after school they spend the afternoon have a pizza dinner with the kids their usual marching band routine on a Friday with with dinner together rehearsal they get dressed in uniform they go into the stands they do the pep Tunes they see the halftime show um just to give them a little idea of not only the work involved and to see the show but to see the camaraderie the students uh have obviously we bring in eighth grade students into our high school marching band so many of them have friends who are already vested members of the marching band but at least they get a chance to come over and see uh what's involved um coming up this week uh that was as was mentioned we have um our national competition on Saturday um just to give you some information there are uh 13 bands in our group uh the school sizes range from 670 students in the high school up to 2,700 students in the High School uh that's just an art group that's that's the schools we're directly competing against uh this Saturday um there are seven state or Regional Champions that already won this year that are GNA we're going to be competing uh within that group and eight out of the 13 schools have better than 1700 kids in their high school they have a lot more kids to pull from choose from Cut um we don't we don't do that here we bring every kid is is welcome there's no audition process the staff here does an amazing job filling not only the holes that they have in their ban but finding someplace that every kid is comfortable to be on a championship marching ban so again I always ask you know everyone supports us we have a great Community but we are competing with huge programs and the parents pick up all the slack to keep them competitive um on November 4th uh there will be uh auditions for the winter play they're doing Dracula this year um and that is going to be uh like a true representation of the show it's not going to be a comedy it's not going to be music music it's going to be a tra the book play uh and then on the fifth uh the Jazz Band will have their auditions for their their winter season um next Friday and Saturday November 8th and 9th um there's a community theater program they're putting on a show up at Butler High School Mr Arnold who's on the staff here uh Kelsey Daniels who has has worked with our students choreographing musicals uh our tives Ensemble uh things like that they're in the show we have some students who have joined the group so there'll be some shows on November 8th and 9th uh they're doing byebye birdie up there at Butler High School so you can go see some of the staff perform um your time I'm trying to stick to the five minutes okay if you're gonna finish finish your statement I'll be back next week all right thank you is it going to rain for the Nationals okay good yeah okay uh moving along unfinished business we have an item under there policy 0131 yes so we had this policy on the previous agenda as part of our uh set of regular review policies and we discovered that it the um the dates didn't match up between what was on our website and what we actually had on file so um Mrs Z actually discovered that none of the policies that were approved at that particular meeting were updated on our website um so she went through the process of taking care of all of that and then also did a check of um policies from meetings following around that time to make sure that everything on our website was up to date my understanding is that is probably the case now or still in progress we're all up to date um so there was a 20 like 21 revision of that policy and thus it doesn't need um we don't need to worry about it at this time and um just related to that I will identify a few more that we'll bring to the next meeting for again just a regular review and check up anybody else how about new business board member announcements yeah I'll go um I just want to congratulate all our AP Scholars um and our Eagle Scouts just amazing accomplishments I feel like we had even more AP Scholars than we than we have in the previous years it was it that's really awesome um it just to me shows that um they're really they're hard workers and they're you know we're meeting their academic needs as well in terms of rigor which I think is is fantastic um congratulations to our 10year teachers um congratulations to the band on another championship um I attended pths four years and Beyond um it was amazing as always between the nocs um the band the pickle ball pickle ball that they had set up in the gym and Mr haer's 9 Minute um like photo montage which always makes me cry it was um it was as always awesome um I'm sad it will be my last one to attend but maybe I'll sneak in uh also would like to wish our I'll come with you next year because I I almost want him to share the slideshow with me because it it's just like it just I just love it um Good Luck to our Panther football team in their first playoff game on Friday night thank you so um I understand that it's Gordon's job but I wanted to thank him for going out and finding this building um we know what the real estate situation is right now we know what the real estate situation is in North Jersey um I'll be honest with you from the beginning I was kind of against this this location and um once Gordon gave us the tour I was like this can really work this is really a really good idea um we are getting booted out of where we are we don't have a choice and um you know not that I want to say too much in case the owner of the building is listening you know may want want to come back and give you a at higher price but um I just want want to thank you for all the work you you've done on it I know that U your negotiation skills are uh pretty darn good thank you and we may have an opening on my bank for a business developer I want to Echo the congratulations to the uh PV girls cross country team um and I just want to add that for the eighth graders who on that team they were on an undefeated team in sixth grade and an undefeated team in seventh grade and they were one me away from being undefeated for three years in a row but they unfortunately lost their last one by very close so that win at counties was some nice retribution and if I never understood how cross counties was scored but it's the lowest score they had 32 points in first place and the second place team had 96 points so they not only won they like blew the other schools in their group out of the water so well done to them um and then I also wanted to add my congratulations to the teachers who achieved tenure I really don't think it can be understated that except for those who were returning to the profession they were first year teachers in Fall of 2020 and the weirdest most complicated school year ever um and I had the privilege of having personal experience with two of them as they were brand new teachers and they handled it phenomenally I'm so excited to see them up here um earning tenure tonight anybody else okay uh we do have reason to go into executive session tonight where we will discuss attorney client privileged matters uh no action will be taken and student matters no action will be taken and we will adjourn from there our next meeting will be November 4th here at the high school is there a motion to go executive session motion second there a second all in favor any opposed good night everybody
