good evening everyone and welcome to the padway town council meeting reorganization for January 2nd 2024 I'd like to call this meeting to order adequate notice of this meeting has been provided as required under chapter 231 pl1 1975 specifying the time date location login or dial in information and to the extent known the agenda by posting a copy of the notice on the municipal building municipal court and the two Municipal Library bulletin boards Municipal website providing a copy to the official newspapers of the township and by filing a copy in the office of the Township Clerk in accordance with certif ification by the clerk which will be entered in the minutes there will be a public comment period for both remote and in-person attendees separately each member of the public shall only have one opportunity to speak during each public portion as the technology does not allow us to know if there are multiple callers on an individual phone line or logged in user account we so with that um we're going to go on to uh the next item number five which are uh nominations to elect the council vice president and it is um my distinct honor uh to put forth um Dennis espanosa as Council vice president uh Dennis if you don't know has been a longtime um active member of um our Township uh he served on planning board alongside myself um and um his raised his family here so um I yes uh first of all I want to just say congratulations uh to our incoming President and Vice President and to tell Frank he did a marvelous job and to uh prepare myself now to get back in action with everybody uh for to do all we can do to make uh pasca way the the best Township to live in um it's been trying been the last trying a year and a half but uh I'm here in 2004 uh 24 and things are going very well uh I want to thank the mayor and all the council for all their concern all their support uh in all their prayers and looking forward uh to being uh very very physical and uh visible in this upcoming year so I want to thank everybody once again thank you councilman Rouse that was lovely councilman sha happy New Year and this is my e year here work with this Council team and mayor I learn lot of things and I want to say special to all Township employee work with them is really enjoy and lot of things learn from them too and very supportive so I want to say thank you to everybody and Frank last year presidentship is great and incoming Gabrielle and and good luck for 2024 thank you thank you councilman cha councilman Ern yes I just want to wish everybody a happy and healthy New Year and congratulations to Gabrielle president and Denis vice president and I just want to thank everybody for the support for last year I really appreciate it Mr Mayor uh very very want to thank uh all the volunteers here with our great Community uh for most of you that don't realize we really rely on the volunteers in our community a lot to provide a lot of uh great services within our community uh we're very fortunate enough that we have a very large volunteer base of people that want to give up their time and help the community at large uh whether it's the boards and commissions or volunteering in emergency services or Etc or any other uh item so I really once again on behalf of myself and and our professional staff to thank thank all the volunteers out there uh as a quick note uh we're going to have a very busy year coming up uh we're expecting to get more of these road projects out to bid uh reconstructing a lot of streets in town uh continue renovating our 27 Municipal Parks uh obviously working on the ecological Park uh and a lot of other items out there and I I don't want to be bold to say this right now but uh until we get to the budgeting I would not be surprised if we have our tax rate either stay stable or go down again so that would be great news Mr Mayor that would be the seventh year in a row wonderful wonderful Mr Daisy just like to wish everybody a Happy New Year and look forward to working with everybody this year it should be a very very exciting year thank you just yeah looking forward to working with the administration and the council this year and I think we'll do some great things thank you and I too would like to thank give a special thanks um to Frank ER Frank um led us through this uh last year um professionally I don't think you missed uh one council meeting you did not um yes he does um and Frank you know it it's not lost on me uh how much you've dedicated your life to this town not just here on this Council but your entire life with your coaching your uh whole entire family actually being involved in um and now your service here on Council um he was very fitting um and um I am very grateful and appreciative for your leadership thank you and Dennis I look forward to you um as well working with you the entire uh Council uh to the township of Piscataway um I think that you cannot find more uh grateful Council here to serve you and to be your public servants and to have your confidence I think between um our tax rate um our public uh Services uh certainly during the time of covid I'd like to remind everybody that the township um did not stop running we did not have to Furlow anyone and uh Services kept going and that is through uh the leadership at the top Mr Mayor our business administrator um our CFO Daniel the entire staff the entire staff here at the municipal building works hard every day um to give our residents the best service that they can and um I look forward to this year I look forward to finding more ways to do right by our residents every day and I know that this team is ready for that so super excited okay uh sorry about that got a little long winded there um oh and also too let me Les not we forget our our Clerk and our assistant clerk who sit up here all the time and have to listen to our long- winded speeches thank you very much uh you are the actually in deplorable condition quite frankly um so it's not quite contiguous to um where the Best Buy is but it's in that same area it's adjacent to the fire training it's Center gotcha thank you know personally Mike personally uh he is a farmer at at heart uh he has a very big farm in his hometown of East Brunswick where he Farms on a consistent basis and him and I swap stories on on who's growing the bigger Tomatoes or the better fr fruit and things like that and vegetables uh so I Mike I wish you luck uh tilling your your soil that bring the fruits of the earth out of there in your
