Woodland a good evening superintendent go my former board colleagues and our community of Rosel park with pride month fast approaching I want to take a moment to acknowledge Rosel Park lgbtq students the Trevor Project a 24-hour Suicide Prevention hotline for career youth in their 20 23 National survey on the mental health of lgbtq young people reported that nearly one in three young lgbtq young people said their mental health was poor most of the time or always due to anti-lgbtq policies and legislation which brings me to the Dilemma of a board member's violation of our own District bullying policy according to policy 5512 harassment intimidation and bullying section a middle of the paragraph quote harassment intim idation or bullying is unwanted aggressive behavior that may involve a real or perceived power imbalance since students learn by example School administrators faculty staff and volunteers should be commend commended for demonstrating appropriate behavior treating others with Civility and respect and refusing to tolerate harassment intimidation or bullying how can one expect to enforce a policy for our students when an adult that serves them writes the following quote this is not New Jersey but it could be while our reading and math scores are dropping this nonsense is still a priority we need to prepare our kids for the real world this quote found on Twitter on May 17th 2024 under board member Jennifer Mar's profile gen number four and J refers to a letter sent out to shavy Road Elementary in Michigan which informs parents with the option to opt out that their students will be listening to the book they she he me free to be with a goal to quote help students explore pronouns through discussion and literature to embrace differences and promote acceptance this Vital Information is a fundamental way we prepare our young people for the world these kids lives are not nonsense for those queer youth watching there is a Rolla Park that loves you and wants to see you grow up and become the fabulous Fierce and funky person you were born to be you are loved and we will not stay silent further information about the Trevor Project can be found at the Trevor project.org and for those youth in need of suicide intervention the number to call is 1866 48873 A6 it is your responsibility as a board to enforce your own policies it is your responsibility to protect the mental and physical health of all of our students and to behave in a way that is in line with your policy and protective of our students Rosell Park will not rest until
