and she's going to take it into the neutral zone up on the red line protecting the puck way to be a good job on protecting that puck by Grace there she walked it all the way down the Zone just keeping her body out and keeping that defenseman off of her Sienna long lead pass intended for Avery but ended up being on net and then it's into the neutral zone again Sienna bouncing it off the boards and that was AB Powers just dumping it in Sienna picks it up she's behind the net flips it up off the glass going to send them all the way back for it that's donalan ends up being icing I was just going to recap on that uh where Grace kind of brought that puck all the way up the sideboards there she was using her body to Shield the defender from getting at after causing her to kind of slow up the play um getting her for other forwards out allowing them to take make a change and then still keeping it down in their Zone good play by Grace there absolutely Brook on the draw in Brooks feet comes to the front nice save m a rebound missed the net behind the net that's Grace Carlson knocking it around the other way out to the point Brower shot drifts wide ends up on this near half boards Natalie to the point doot comes in M up on the blue paint up on the top of the blue paint holds it for the whistle that'll be the end of the period here second period will be coming at you we'll switch sides play the other way so did you see when I was talking Wilmer broke out of the Zone on this near side here come up the dot Lane that imaginary line that connects all the faceoff dots on one side of the Ring come up the dot Lane Avery pushes her towards the boards angles her she gets a step past Avery that's okay cuz we're a layered defense and then Suma comes in and finishes her to the boards and actually that puck pops loose yep the more you can push them towards the boards the less places they have to go obviously or they're going to have to stop and try to transition into the middle of the ice so the more you push the the other team to the to the boards the less space they have to work with and let's not uh let's not kid ourselves it's it's all about creating space in a game of hockey and you got to take care of your space and your Wingers or your defenseman got to take care of their space because as soon as you start bunching up that's when uh bad things happen going the other way so if the girls can keep on pushing those girls out to that dot Lane at least the defense is going to know my first forward that's that's coming down on that person is going to try to get her to the dot lane and then they that cuts the ice down uh tremendously causing her to have to take care of less ice yep yeah and we've we've said this before you know when you're when you're on defense meaning we don't have the puck we have to defend we want to take away time in space and push them to the outside push them to the outside take away time in space when we do have the puck we want to create time and space yes you so when we get that puck those first three strides they have to be quick it has to be a burst three strides quick and fast and uh me and Cha have been kind of talking about this like on the on the breakout situation um when you're passing it to your Winger on the on the on the sideboards you if you can get that puck as soon as you can to that Winger it gives them just a little bit extra time this game is about milliseconds and it's the things that you can do to help out your your teammates to get down that ice faster every little bit helps yep so if you're that D and you come around the net and you do a power turn or escape to the boards and you have to zip back to the other side pass that puck as soon as you can and then the closer it is to a tape to tape pass the more effective it is too because it gives them that quarter second extra time absolutely to do something with it pucks back behind the net centered comes through everybody Grace steel going to pick this up grce steel up over the blue line into the neutral zone stick handling o little some time drops it back look at the time and space that she gave there abely look at the time and space lla just gave McKenna they must have been listening to us or wait a minute we are tuned in to them aren't we it's it's probably the coach has probably said something in lock there we go but this time next changes again we get all five out good change cuz we're able to stop them before they even get to the Center Ice Line That's the quality change that you want on those that long change yep and that's one where everybody's got to hustle soon as that puck crosses into the offensive zone you got to hustle to make that change happen and what I always like to do is if if you're that that the forward coming in you don't skate right at the prime area for where you're the next forward's going to jump out of the box you want to be curling in around behind them giving them the best opportunity to get on the ice to get to the puck as fast as possible Wilmer ends up long lead pass that goes for icing 1250 going the second storm and Sabers trailing 02 up in the booth we got TJ on color Neil on or Shack on uh playby playay and then Kurt on the camera three dads that just like to watch and talk hockey and support our kids we all have kids playing Puck comes in shot save rebound great save great effort by B Ellie picks up the loose Puck up over the Blue Line chip into the middle Amara for Grace Carlson Grace Carlson's going to step forward nley making sure shot tries to use the D as a screen but the de got their knee pads in front of it and blocked it lead pass again this is a wobbler it's going to make it for icing I thought about not predicting that one cuz it was wobbling pretty good I for it speed behind the net for Natalie Suma shot save oh with a little stick lift there that makes that an interesting save you I was actually just going to comment on that in the first couple games this year we uh we commented a lot about stick lifting we I call it a stick check I've noticed more and more of our girls are getting figuring that out to get the puck away from somebody if they don't have their stick on the puck it's much easier to just pop that stick up and steal that puck away I like that the girls are using it a lot more Grace holds it in Far Side for Suma Suma stepping down shot comes through the slot Amara there after it I'm going to turn my cell phone upside down we have some viewers that are texting me and they're distracting me oh boy I'm just not even going to look at my phone shot save rebound Amara there just under her stick pops out to the Blue Line they're calling ice but that's going to be on net Micha has to play it she's going to hold it let's get a whistle just in case yep I'm definitely okay with that you know I when I was played I always liked when the goalies if ever if ever they got it you know if you're in a situation where you need to move the puck fast I like that they played it but if there's ever a a forward screaming down on you cover the Pug up we got Shaq giggling like a little school girl over here so I don't know if he's going to be able to commentate bro fix it up in the corner she's going to wheel behind the net she holds it she's going up the dot Lane gra steel going with her Brook protecting the puck there's that body protection right there I like to see that oh Park comes Far Side Ellie ohoh Puck pops loose got to step here one on0 shot save M tracking it it's in her pad Ellie Ellie finds it gets into the corner she's going to muscle this all the way into the neutral zone by herself and she does picked up Bry Brower turned this way Ellie gets your stick there and says I want this Puck nice nice nice touch pass to Grace steel Grace walking in she's going to get a back hand goalie tracks it puts the pad down Wilmer feeling the pressure dumps it right away right there goes to show trying to go a little bit extra harder like that and to be able to make that little inside pass to her she got a a jump on that defenseman almost got around her and got a great shot and and uh that's how you that's how you uh generate offense and good move by the girls nice little pass nice being strong on the puck on the boards there by yozamp I like to see that kind of play will have a face off to the glove side of the Cardinals Shayla on the draw she ties up I think she was actually hinting at Natalie to come in and pick up that puck cuz she was going to tie up you got to let your Wingers know if you're going to be doing that type of stuff I've been working on it with my daughter and uh faceoffs are huge in hockey shot Misha gets the pad in the way puts it in the corner out to the half boards Amara there with some speed back both those D way up into the neutral zone that allows us a Zone entry Amara trying to Center off the pad Jayla following up knocks it behind the net she's battling for it tries to wrap it around it's on the post Shayla is still there knocking at it comes back to McKenna McKenna Far Side for Laya lla towards a net kick save into the corner by the D that was Brower now Amara Amara Adan Melvin back there oh Amara reaching for it she's going to pull this around try Center it Natalie gets her lines crossed up a little bit battles for it forces a dump lyla's going to go back for this roller Holy Roller oh takes out Wilmer roll lla behind for Amara Amara up into the middle not quite into the neutral zone Wilmer dumps it right back down McKenna she's looking now I think she was thinking for Natalie this near side bounced off the back of the net bounced into the front of the net somehow off some skates you know I am super impressed with Misha being this is her first year in net every game she continues to look better and better she's is doing the proper goalie Maneuvers if you put pads on me it would look like a flopping fish out there I mean it would be I would actually probably run away from a good hard slap shot here's the thing just so the viewers are know the listen the viewers and listeners know TJ flopping like a fish with goalie equipment would be a little bit different than normal a little bit like a whale flopping around on the beach land a beach whale fcks on the half boards Grace steel comes up with it that that was because of some good work by Grace sum call that one so there's some body protection on the puck that Drew a penalty yes it is the other thing the other thing I wanted to mention with that when you're protecting that puck if you watch when play The Defender comes in to swipe at you when you you got your body usually their sticks a couple feet off the ground corre and what they're doing is they're aiming for your stick so if you have your body in the way and they're swinging their stick a couple feet off the ground you lift your and and the puck is going to keep going with you right you lift your stick in the air let the puck come with you they'll swipe and hit your stick and it won't knock the puck away basically oh nice shot basically all you're saying is it's the when when you do a proper stick check that's how you know that's one of the you know best Maneuvers when you don't have body check into to separate somebody from the puck if you see a stick check CH coming that's what chck is talking about you just lift your stick and let them swing right by if you know they're not going after that puck right right Brook to Natalie Natalie fires glove save loose who we found it I like the face off plays that they're working right now and apparently we're on a power play I don't know I didn't even see the how the yeah we talked about the power play cuz Grace uh oh yeah Beach Brook another clean win for Ellie Ellie fires that's blocked flipped into the neutral zone Brook Brook's going to hustle back after it here minute 40 to go on the power play Brook back for it hits the brakes I'm going to call that a fake backhand shot comes through chipped forward by Ellie Natalie picks it up Natalie with Brooke cross to her Brook looking back to the point Grace Carlson cross for Ellie Ellie's got some space here but the pucks rolling she had to kick it down into the into the Corner Brook for Ellie Ellie turns fires deflected goalie didn't see that deflection until the last second on the Blue Line in Grace skat she almost kept it in but it flipped just into the neutral zone now Wilmer gets a hold of it dumps it the length mé gets the pad in the way sets it for Ellie line change for the forwards Ellie for Amara Amara into skates Suma oh got her stick Tangled Up In in uh Flat's armpit she's going to end up getting a hooking unintentional but it impeded R's progress so that does happen yeah it is antenal the best thing you do as a player is just drop your stick cuz if you take if you take him down and your stick's over there then you look at the ref with both hands saying hey she took my stick away from me what am I supposed to do it was her fault yeah and and once if you play it just right the ref will go along not not not all the time knock the length now this is fouron four hockey we don't want to be dumping it we want to control it cuz it's going to go for ice and yeah especially this was one of my favorite times to be on the ice is you got so much more room out there without two extra players out there and this is the time to be patient use the whole RI you know well and one of the things that forwards have to realize in this is It's a 4 on four four there's a center for the face off and then it's two Wingers you don't have a center anymore cuz there's not enough players on the ice Oh shot save rebound nice save gathered up by MAA held for the whistle 29 seconds of four on four hockey then Wilmer penalty will be over and we'll have minute 15ish of uh penalty to kill bucks in the corner flatable Center shot oh I think short side on that one just above the pad just under the glove it's a nice quick shot that's that's a goal scoring type of shot uh I've been trying to teach my daughter on that one too sometimes you're not aiming you try not to aim at the goalie you're aiming at holes yeah you know we we talk about hitting the hitting them in the the logo that is the worst possible shot you can put on a goenda they don't have to move and they can just glove it down you just aim at those holes that are hard to get to the anywhere by the pipes but right above that had below the glove it's interesting I was um I don't remember who I was listening to the other day but they were talking about what NHL Shooters this is going to go for icing what NHL Shooters look for when they're shooting and what they're talking about now is aiming for the edge of the goalie yep because the goalie is going to come out and you might not be a when you're standing up the puck is 5T away 6 7t away from where you're looking y so you're look you want to aim for the edge of the goalie cuz the puck sees a little bit different view than you do correct and i' never thought about that cuz I always said look for the net well if the goalie's Out 3 feet on top of the blue cre the blue paint you're not going to see any net shot by L absolutely you're just I what I would shoot I would just shoot at the holes that I know most the goals go in at right right chot knocked into the corner that was a spin on shot by Shayla gray Steel in on the for check pucks flipped into the neutral zone by Adel and Melvin Lyla back for it ice there wraps it around Grace steel pulls it into the neutral zone Shayla in a foot race just about gone with that one going to Center this lla if looking for Grace now Grace Carlson trying to hold it on the blue line it's rolling she knocks it we got to clear the Zone we're offside will prick dumping it in Grace Carlson back for it up the boards into the neutral zone Wilmer tagging up Grace into the neutral zone Natalie there Natalie Grace Carlon Natalie popping It Forward Brook steps and gets it that was a nice little three-step burst to turn that puck over then flips it in on net makes the goalie make a save nly it on the for check Brook reads it going to push this down into the corner chipped around by Ellie Grace Carlson's got a hustle two-on-one Wilmer looking skags going to fire comes across great back check by Natalie or Grace Carlson busting up that pass on that two on one I think she's going to end up getting an interference call here but that's a good penalty to take yes it is uh she was flying down trying to get that that backhand pipe side side and uh she had to do everything she could to tire up and ended up in a trip we'll take that one all day face off to M's left Amara on the draw she's got Natalie with her Amara wins it into the corner for McKenna McKenna flips it behind the net for Ellie Ellie rips it up the boards Natalie there Natalie knocks it Loose Ellie Ellie trying to jump at the length balances off a Wilmer player that's skag she shoots it drifts It Wide another shot comes from the point attempted deflection but it ended up in the corner Ellie knocks this one up the boards again and again third times a charm she gets it into the neutal zone that at least makes all the Cardinals have to come in and tag out gives us a little bit of time on the breakout aenna hustling over little bounce pass for Ellie behind the net Ellie off the glass trying to get it out held in bouncing Ellie gets a hold of this one puts the length this time like I am going to make one of these the
