[Music] and to the [Music] [Music] [Music] for be our coner and PR [Music] education Thursday April 25th 2024 [Music] [Music] United States America the stand na report report suion and DET report and and are many many ctions I would encourage everyone to something for example watch volleyball team than [Music] on ofies ofeducation no this meeting being by having time off loated [Music] [Music] so right now [Music] City and was amazing experience [Music] and today bring work so a lot of kids a lot of pets School instruction to recognize all right uh is this on yes okay all right um hey everybody so anyway so to tell the story of our OverWatch 2 team and our OverWatch 2 season I have to take you back to April 2nd 2022 there a group of relative strangers students primarily freshman and sophomores hopped on to a bus and went to R University to play in the 2022 OverWatch HS uh on that day we played inep hun Central who was the defending Champion but ended up losing a state championship to the Hightech High Laser Cats I don't know if you guys knew this I don't know if anybody knew this but High-Tech high mot is the Las CS that's G what un for but anyway we came so close to Wi state championship with the group of freshman and sophomores um that day and we did not leave that the tournament dejected we left the tournament hope and we left the tournament knowing that if we did a couple things differently that we would have that we have capability of having something TR special so I think it's important to be humble sometimes but I'm not going to be humble ever since that game this team has not lost a game and quite frankly it hasn't been close they worked so hard in between that day and in between the next season to go all the way through and win the state championship and go eat it and have a little bit of issues in our state championship team last year but then knowing that we came close to losing it again in the state championship working just as hard this past year and coming back even better uh to win another straight undefeated season like the closest thing I was trying to think of ways to kind of explain like compare what they have done um and without knowing like explaining how OverWatch works for 25 minutes I really couldn't see that if you're familiar with the 1992 dream team uh who R the Olympics by like an average of like 45 points per game the second that they walked out onto the court and they play for like two minutes like all right well this game's over that's basically every single game that that we had and we were against the other best teams in the state I remember we were playing it was the state semi-finals we were playing against the tech who at that point was also another undef team um actually SE higher than us by from some your percentage point and like we're in the middle of the third game and I hear one of them talking about how they can't stand how much homework that they have to do after this and another one talking about how they to take the over just like so much so much better than all the rest of the competition that it really has been U amazing to watch as for the season um the biggest challenge that we probably had uh Lewis who uh has been one of our best players uh this game requires a lot of teamwork a lot of communication L is also on the bowling team uh and Mr gra bowling coach has been very gracious in like letting us borrow L from time to time but the shifted the schedule up and the bowling playoffs dates and our playoff games R the exact same dates so we did not have le for the majority of but Lily and I'll just basketball is an analogy here imagine if you're a basketball coach and you're sitting there and you find out that your top schooler from the year before isn't going to be on team then you look at your computer and you get an email from somebody saying hey I'm one of the top 5 to 10% basketball players in the I want to join your team that is Antonio right here so so so so lucky to have somebody who can seiously walk into our team uh and quickly assimilate and become a part of it and was willing to work really hard um because again this game is there a lot about team if if there's a we Link in the chain if one person isn't doing their job in the game then the whole chain is GNA fall apart Antonio was ass simulated very easily and he was able to work with the rest of the team uh and the team came in and prepared every game even though they knew that their season has gone really well came in every game practice prepared like that they were going to face some other um so going through this whole process I set up scrimmages we that was another big challenge because there wasn't many teams in the state of New Jersey that we were really able to scrimmage against because it wasn't worth SC we went all over the place we played different colleges and universities we played teams from all over the country I just Googled like OverWatch Champions and insert State here and tried to find other teams that might have helped us build uh and they did very well across all of that um I'm happy to say that the 2024 State Championship uh is actually not the end of the road for the guys um after we won uh and it wasn't as much of a challenge I found a national leag that we entered uh and we're playing teams all up and down the East Coast uh over hundred and something teams that are in this bracket and we will be in the championship of that next week so all from Canada to Florida we've been playing we actually finally had a somewhat challenging game we lost our first uh set and came back to West um so it's been it's been amazing working with honestly like I feel like I feel like I like watched I've been watching a really good movie and like reading a really good book and it's like had a really big impact on Me Myself and I've been watching these guys play and I'm like telling people like this is amazing they're so good and it's like there's just so much because unfortunately it's not like a volleyball game where you go see us question it's something that's happening online but to be able to watch them and be a small part of this has been very very special because I truly believe that they're one of the most dominant teams that this school district has ever seen to go to start off as a team of freshman and sophomores go to the state championship and then have two straights undef seasons and completely dominated in the way that they have has been absolutely amazing um I I hope you guys know like how how great you truly are because it's it's been great watching us and I really appreciate I hope they I hope I hope everybody realizes how special this unfortunately people are graduating we are losing Le Nathan and Brian um so it's not going to be quite the same but we do have three returners Antonio Max and Alex for next year so really looking forward to oh yeah of course of course yeah yeah everybody everybody come up first up is is Max and uh and one of our tpss Antonio sore DPS tank supports I have I'll get the other Bel too spe pleas whereas the Stockwood High School OverWatch 2 team [Music] [Music] per [Music] um as those were who were here last [Music] meeting um and maybe on another slide was corrected or something I don't know but it seems weird that Ved and you know the total was off by 100,000 I I would imagine anybody if you were voting on your salary $100,000 less than what it supposed to be that would be something you probably would V understand how we had and it the should postponed so that was fully corrected um put out there number number [Music] [Music] Det discuss presentations [Music] [Applause] yes 15 Maxim speak [Music] marwood um this is a this is a note I got from Brad Herman he asked if I read this um in a year where it would have been easy to accommodate Passover given that rash was during weekend it is even worse the district completely disregarded the sacred first two days of Passover by scheduling not one but four events that I aware these events include a 10th grade Vietnam history trip on the EV of Passover a prek uh book fair and a sixth grade book fair on the second day of Passover and the districtwide Music Festival on the second day of Passover this goes against the spirit of the district's and State's policy for students and staff or absent through your religious observance every one of these events could have been scheduled during a different week that would have been safely away from Good Friday Easter and uh Passover in the future the district should consult with the public prior toing again [Music] [Music] priori calend together nexts I think part of challeng that is when changes are made to the calar I think that cration should have [Music] Cheng I think usually pass bre cting to [Music] fin Health um for next year and the fact that we to options Sur District Eng students service agend also [Music] [Music] many met to talk inies [Music] [Music] District mental awareness Club also our district been involved in years andard intervention training where Witnesses are engaged interrupt situations that are potentially high risk violence um and so our schoolers have been trained situations and focused onth grade last years [Music] andul in module so that continues andal INRI train students it's given Juni in our district and ental healths in other students and to respond to their mentals by going to trusted adults Association students anded School sorry president of mental health we and she disced with ofal health aess us also UC usess basically so so lot on for our student wellness very exciting and secondary exensive survey ofi I mean that is their knowledge around it and their experience in Ai and education and attitude Mon and interest it educationally surve will what information not what tyes of activities they participated in training and then asking any examples that they might have to share um ands surve and meeting [Music] task disc and disc Al question superintended 2 [Music] [Music] appr meeting anded [Music] he yes [Music] [Music] [Music] number taxes [Music] question discussion in [Music] [Music] Poli disc in [Music] in and one another and bring that which iasis the April meeting focused onun inclusion iend the meeting on are that think whats questions us team [Music] [Music] wonderful speaker auth Jennifer and she has written a book and um so she was different life what she when she was a child um and so she talked about some of the DAT challenges to schols mentioned ACH they have two to three times more sub and anxiety disorder issues um and she had interviewed over 65 parents and um found out that 75% of those parents um felt responsible for their children's sucess 83% believe that they more responsible to their to their students and their success and they were parents were very conflicted wish children have life they um and um she talked about the fact that a lot of this parent parenting is very intensive and really is a better way what she was talking about is um that um she also children um and um primarily 18 to 20 year old and um she uh 70% of the children their parents valued them more when they were successful and them more than they achieved um and um so they they felt matter and contr that she was talking about besides was mattering was the term that she used um and the need for KS likeu by their parents success [Laughter] G of the quotes from students were I wish my parents I wish my parents to be exceptional and everything those um and basically love their kids un but children don't always know that that's not always what they feel and she also a lot of parents like they don't matter theirs she talked about Sheed [Music] aot on that weite and also the meeting which we always always St schols is really our working [Music] professional ofou and was a lot of discussion around the budget there's [Music] and know [Music] [Music] and I went to we went to women's leadership conference spored by SCH excellent attention one of session I attended also information shared and I also equity and develop Equity mindset um and S it's [Music] the seconds for n andd res [Music] speak name con not debate issues in to question and answer session or examination between the public and the individual memberse aware issues brought to tonight evening resp public comment by seeking additional information orating authorities investigating ISS super um I notic that the online uh YouTube video was was uh truncated it wasn't the meaning from the last one so I don't know how that happens or why it would get cut off but there's probably about 10 minutes at the end again useful thing like tonight talking about that auth things like that I think kind of a disturbance that people don't get some good information that could be at the end of the meeting so there's some way to look into that that would be great um second thing is since this is the part one of the things that kind cut off talked about um the social justice teature academ again just to reiterate what I said in the last meeting I think it's it's kind of a disservice to um students that may not be interested in social justice that they don't have just a teacher Academy it's a social justice teacher Academy um and the problem with social justice is your social justice is your neighbor's social injustice Nightmare and so you can have two people who have completely different ideas of what social justice is and it just leads the problems and I think we're all seeing this playing out in our universities as we as we speak I thought i' just add this this one anecdote of uh an interview of a student at New York University again they uh they take top 10% in uh in the class uh in the graduating class so this is this is the top notch top tier this the the the interviewer said why are you protesting I don't know I'm pretty sure there's something about Israel turns to another person why are we protesting the other protester says I wish I was more educated protester number one says I'm not either and I again I think we focus we focus get back to focusing on the basics and things like that and tone down that this the social Justice thing I think you you create a problem where you have teachers who then are encouraged by that to become activist and impose their uh social activism on the children it's not uh I don't think it's fair to parents I don't think it's fair to the kids I I think the the teacher should be neutral on things like that and I think I think these types of programs create a problem so um that's basically it and like I I said I think I think it's something we should really think of reevaluating just calling it teacher it's just makes more sense um why why you have to throw Social Justice part into it doesn't make sense than [Music] [Music] on thune meeting session to staff for always looking for opportunities opportunities person education obviously I really ADR OPP resources and so really [Music] [Music] perance [Music] [Music] been not easy we [Music] same might be myroom next year [Music] it's just consist problem OPP science conversations poetry [Music] [Music] think
