##VIDEO ID:lTkNxK7Fcpw## it's 6:30 we'll open the meeting for the Southwick Park and recck um for November 13 2024 um in person David Dori Rick Herman Dan Welsh um online John Wally and Mike Mike sh and Mike she um start off with public comment if we have any no public comment um bills and minutes I think we had talked about that for now on if we just have any larger bills or anything that the whole board should know about we'll go through those rather than the smaller maintenance type things in the future um next we'll go to wle park we have Lisa Kinowski yes um western Mass shetland sheep dog yes if you want to come up you can explain what you're looking for hi um my name is Lisa Kinowski um we do an agility course or trial and it's us in the Burkshire medical uh B sorry B Burk share belg dver Club as well so it's two of us together um I'm just the only one here um and so we used to do it in Westfield Fairgrounds but they have closed it to everything so now we're scrambling to try to find some place um and I of course living in Sou Wick saw Wally parket thought hey that's flat land great perfect so this is why I'm here um we need 100 by 100 square foot area at least two rings of it um we only are going to use one ring but the others for trading our dogs you need a 100 by 100 area or 100 by 100 and then then another 100 by 100 okay which is less than a sucker field really to be honest okay um pilion would be great as well um because we have a person that does computers and so being under would be better does that have to be something where they be if they're using the computers be able to see what's going on or okay no um preferably flat no like somebody had said oh the baseball field no that could that dips in great it would be better more flat not you know what I'm saying because we're running I could show you what a agility course is if you guys would like to see one sure okay sorry you can't see it sorry picturing it let's see how close I am it's kind like a voice on the phone you're like oh this person looks like that and it's not what they look like I'm not very good at that yes exactly it is exactly the exactly yep got it knock the things over my dog can't do that preferably knock not knocking it over but I mean my cat um my golden retriever T okay so when when are we talking about this is going to be October 4th and 5th of next year um we do it in the first month come on open up anyway it's hard to see it sorry this is so my dog is running of course so as you can see it's as big as it's supposed to be that's why we need it as big as it is that's what I'm thinking okay and so um that's basically the reason why we need the size that we need have you been to the park at all like oh yeah I live two streets away okay like the area down below is that something that could be something as well um you know preferably if we could be up higher that'd be fine but down is fine too as long as we can have a bathroom too that's open well the bathroom should be open in October right what about using the soccer field I made soccer fields are fine too we will though you guys don't have to worry I know everybody walks their dogs anyway we will make sure it is clean so probably cleaner than it's ever been and then sorry the town will go back in and do what they do normally um we also need the parking that's why we do it is there any way we can do even dry camping I guess that's what it's called they we have some that have Campers or can we use ask the BFW you know cuz where the wherever it is it's just that some people use campers because some people come from all around which I I gu one of my questions how many what's your attendance expectation we expect 300 runs so at least 200 at least and it's I say 200 but they don't all stay yeah all day okay because if you do a morning run you're done you're going to leave so it will not be over 200 people at all if anything is probably about 10050 any time or throughout the whole thing throughout the whole thing so you're saying there's 300 runs 350 each day 350 runs each and you expect 200 people at a time not at a time like starts from 7 a and it could go to 4:00 p.m. it would be through so in and out yeah well in and then out because what we try to do because that's why we did it with CO as well the excellent Masters usually go first and and then I'll be honest 90% leave because that's the biggest chunk of it um that's what you see mostly on your ESPN thing um and then the novice in open nobody's there okay don't have any campers would you the last time would have been I think she said seven TOPS oh seven yeah so it's not a lot it's just I would expect people well if there could that'd be great but if not you know I mean that's all that theyve seen vf4 is about that many about nine now how much would that be just so we know too so we have to put that up would you charge for that so I mean the pavilion rental fee is 200 for day yeah the soccer fields 150 okay good place to do it the only conflict that you'll probably run into is the baseball softball at the time cuz is Saturday Sunday I do know last time and I don't know if it is I went purposely there this year and nobody was there did you go on us when did you Saturday and Sunday and I went about noon I mean what day Saturday that's Saturday and that's Sunday October in October the first weekend in October there would traditionally be a lot less in October softball and basball show is still been going on they could they could have but maybe they didn't maybe they didn't have a game that day I don't know they do every Sunday unless there're unless it's FR so if we do it down below none of that will matter right correct exactly um they're trying not to do it I can do demel if that's that's fine I don't have a problem um that's that's the only thing now would there be any damage to a soccer field nope no because we're running in regular Sneakers but we have less than plats that they use okay because it probably is nicer above with the Pavilion there yeah and I don't see it as a problem we just have to notify the baseball so do you think it'd be too much having what happens is it's not not for softball softball is two teams coming in and out so you might have 30 vehicles um but the baseball they've been bringing in but I mean we've had to park softball people at the other you know just to walk over you know because they they get they get some big groups just so you guys know yeah I mean it's po it's popular it's good yeah they just they just have a lot of people and I think maybe maybe I'm thinking October maybe they aren't going until October felt like they did we certainly did softball did I'm surprised you didn't see softball there it could have been the timing like the game could have been done by the time I went there I mean I don't we go nine to four yeah and I mean I I say noon it might not have been who knows maybe the game was over by that time I don't know well they it's back there yeah the reason I went was because I wanted to see if motorcross was yeah yeah that was only my fear was the motoross only because of the noise yeah um and because our dogs have to hear us yeah of course yeah that was my thing I mot across the Run almost every weekend or something I live with it enough to hear it turn once they turn them on at 9:00 I can hear it so yeah uh there aren't many weekend that they don't Le well practice no big event but at least well practice if it's a couple of them practicing or whatever it's one thing it' be one thing if it's a whole the bottom field isn't that far of a walk to the Pavilion yeah it's not bad what what kind of we may even we may even have a pavilion down there at the time yeah true um we don't you we don't need any fencing from you we have our own fencing and it is a rolling like fence post I'd be concerned about around the bunch of sprinklers oh well if you tell us where it is um you don't know where they are all over um it's just a little metal thing that goes down that's probably about that deep how deep is this sprinkle allines John the sprinkles are flush with the ground what about the lines how long the lines are down the how far down 15 oh there I don't know they could uh you could pay Eric to mark them that's the heads I'm wor about the lines punching the line they really how deep going she's saying about maybe four to four to six inch I mean it's just and then we use it so I mean we're not like it's very flimsy it's I mean really dog could just easily just leave they wanted to it's just yeah spatial deter if if they only go down five six inches I should be safe 10 12 I'd be wor yeah oh no would be oh absolutely literally pull it up but he manually so I know it's not that deep were you looking to rent it both days or was one so it's actually I'm sorry it's three days Friday Saturday Sunday um and so it would be the three days I am sorry I realized I'm only looking at my dates not work year so I have to go in together um the other thing is is we were also just wondering um because we' like to set up if we could nobody's going to be there just a setting up because we start 7:40 in the morning is there any way we could do it Thursday half a day or half price or whatever whatever the price is or whatever just so we can set the thing and some people do start coming that night right you for the campers that was we could probably make that work yeah what is fr camp okay dry camping is is you know how like usually when you hookup you have electrical and you have water and you just park the thing because if you don't have any hook hups then they're going to use a generator that's dry meaning they have to take care of it all themselves is there an issue with doing that overnight there any restrictions any restrictions on that John no the camp would would uh would like the campers down below as well so that makes matter yeah they wouldn't mind being down there either probably just let the police police know they cruise through yeah yeah this is H interesting it is a totally different I know most people do not think of this but and then I have to go to our board and then we have to go through AKC to say so this isn't a little process for us either so once you does tell us and it's okay then we have to go to our board and then we have to go to AKC because we have it R we have it secured now but if we don't get it going they'll they'll give it to somebody else yeah I mean every weekend somewhere there's an agility course going on right it's very expensive yeah think I've thought of all my issues that might happen yeah so you said it's 200 to rent The Pavilion and 150 for the field part yeah that would be per day yeah I mean yeah depending on what you guys come up with yeah that's fine we should talk about it as a group well yeah they decide if that's the can we talk about afterwards and get you an email yeah our Call's easy I will be honest I groom dogs I mean I rented from J for years um I just don't F my email very much yeah yeah no I call we've been communicating on the phone y I can do that appreciate that anything else anybody else have any questions that cover I got the questions I head written down YouTu no majority need done Pavilion we don't need a pav I mean the Pavilion has stuff there right I mean I will need a little electricity is there any I mean there's electricity sles okay because the woman that does it oh I and can a food truck go up yeah yeah absolutely I can even recommend themid we do have one probably us the same one who knows um there was a so the computers do they need oh yeah Wi-Fi access or anything or they just they can they have their hot spot but if you have that's great but they do have a hot spot may have it by them but we don't yet don't we're working on Westfield Fairgrounds does not have it so let's really be realistic it was sketchy to be the only reason why she needs it is so that she just keeps well what it is is like on your computer there's a person that does the live run so like you'll know so like if I had a dog going to have to run at two o'clock I don't have to be there at 7:30 going when the run when the Run oh okay it's still on time I can get there at that time okay I mean I have to be there all three days but that was beside point but in general that's why we do that so it may not be there by then but we hope so okay all right any other questions I sorry I'm keep thinking of these things as I'm talking to you okay I should be all set y right thank we'll be in all right thank you very much nice to meet you thanks um so we just have to approve the minutes I understand I right oh okay I'll make a motion to accept the minutes thank you I'll second it if you can hear me yeah we can hear you okay that's okay all right NE allow us to sign minutes from I thought was weird oh yes okay I don't want to do that okay all right next on the agenda is spray part I sent John Gard a email and when I talked to him again last Thursday hadn't heard back from Crest viiew so I have no update on a timeline for that unless anybody else has any knowledge of it that's where we are as far as that okay um next up is pickle ball Randy I guess that you're here for yeah we've been meeting on a regular basis Rick John myself Rob LEC we come up with I guess we call it a draft [Music] yes for R until we start to get things moving but it's trying to get moving pretty quickly so here is the plan the last revised plan Rob so came up one copy I told it needs to be revised want to look at it I the first couple pages are kind of the boiler plate uh cut to the design there's the design you want to take a look at it so it has six courts laid out adjacent to the bathroom which is here uh Pavilion Pavilion originally he had three Pavilions in there which we said we don't really need three Pavilions one would suffice uh since this was done I had talked to the lighting contractor and what he recommended because of the size in the 2 by two is that we don't need these in the middle so these would be removed that the 22222 would more than uh be adequate for those courts so that would certainly uh you know save some money uh this this is plan for down below I missed the last for down below yeah yeah so this is the existing bathrooms here so as you go down in the bathrooms there the courts are laid out this way to uh deal with the Sun the sun's not in in your eyes uh you know it's a it's a it's a great location uh one of the problems that pickle ball courts are are encountering is nor noise neighbors and you know our neighbor here is Motocross so noise isn't really a factor uh the lighting isn't going to affect anybody uh one of the recommendations we made and they they use it over in subfield is they have a timer so the lights just don't stay on and they set it so that the last time it can go on is say 10 o'clock so or whatever time you want to put it at that you want people out of the park but it's a 45 minute an hour timer so you got it buzzer goes off you hit it you get another hot tub except it's got a time limit the upper threshold yeah upper threshold on that so um by the independent for each sections so that they can play here and these two stay off or they all at the same time not sure no you would you play six Courts at a time you know but somebody want to practice or play at 7 o'clock at night they can turn the lights on and play oh yes so my question is if there some two people playing or four people playing they use this C here or these two to the lights that they all on the way the I've seen them is when you hit it they all go on the LED lights go on I mean you know I don't possibly could be wired so that each one has its own that certainly would save you know save some money where it doesn't all go on so yeah yeah yeah I cost offset by having that extra thing would be by not burning the electricity on all three you know what I mean yeah it's a good good good suggest good suggestion yeah you know if we'd have a demand fee on this like we do on the ball fields or is this no negligible what yeah it's different lighting yeah it's lighting so it doesn't draw a lot of electricity oh thank goodness yeah we're we're not getting ourselves into that situation again yeah yeah and then there's fencing all around just so you guys know there's higher fencing out here six foot fence around originally they had eight but we really don't need 8ft fencing and then in between there's some 4ft fencing just to separate the quirks between keep the balls from fly yeah yeah and that's all in the which and all the Nets are they'll be permanently in there they're permanent yeah I mean some some courts take them down in the winter time uh other ones don't uh you know it's nylon whatever I'm not sure there's a lot of wear and tear uh Westfield they leave their Nets up and people play in the winter time yeah uh they only thing they request is that you use a shovel with a plastic Edge so you're not scraping it so agam locks theirs up subfield leaves theirs open uh you know everyone has their own policies Randy I I would leave all the lights in for now and see if they don't come up rather than having extra bright lights that can cover half the court okay I'd rather see the ones down the middle and go with lower wattage uh units right yeah so they're there and it's uh and actually he quoted a price the price that was quoted was for all those lights yeah I know okay right you know what I mean if evenly distributed at a lower wattage per light it' probably be a better light and Noti looking at it you know looking at the lighting so so this plan kind of came about from the wilham wilham put in six courts uh and L Associates did their did their plan did all everything so uh a lot of this and the information and the numbers come from the wilam because it was just done they just opened them up probably within the last month month and a half or so so so you know we we relied on Rob to give you know the some quotes and uh steer Us in the right direction such as who do we go to for the lighting who do you know who should we talk to for a pavilion uh so we had people you know that I was able to reach out to and come up with the numbers and they sent so I I have the supporting application so we we met last time and uh I did a CPC application I did send a copy to Rick and John uh the one thing I will say is that I guess having been retired and typing my own documents and having relied on an administrative assistant in all those years uh never realized how valuable she was as I'm trying to line stuff up and get rid of the auto numbering and auto lettering and so so it probably needs to be reti but it's a draft anyway so but this is the it's the content thank you yeah it's the content is you know kind of you you have how big is the Pavilion compared to like the one we've got up there already it's much smaller it's 12 by 32 okay yeah it's not no as near as big it's enough to get a couple tables yeah you could probably put you know three picnic tables and that's the big draw is you know just have a few picnic tables so people can get out of the Sun or out of the rain whatever but there's also room around to do something different that's not covered you know if the players want to you know what I mean so yeah you know it's a it's a Gathering Spot with six courts and they do it all over the place they run you know they run tournaments local tournaments run by the town run by whatever uh for the purpose of purchasing picnic tables wind screens uh you know Westfield's done that where they' used the money to do that agam has agam agam has done a lot themselves I mean you know they they were the clerk of the works for the projects that they had over there so you know they did the you know the bidding the town did the engineering DPW did site work uh so when you look at what they paid to have courts done you're not comparing apples and apples when you have to go out and just hire a company yeah uh you know you're going to pay that company x amount of percentage for being you know the pur and you know to oversee everything so um I think Westfield last time they did their because they had six courts and they added eight courts I think they hired someone just outright West Springfield did that um South Hadley hired a company just to come in and do it Wilbraham did it they hired gagle ducci they were the low price amongst the the biders that came in uh these this is all information I got from Rob LEC who who is an avid pickle ball player he seems to have his you know know who's who and what's what as far as what's out there so is this going to have to go back toe go to C we're hoping if it pass if we agree to go ahead with it we'll present it to CPC next Wednesday and then it'll have to go to town meeting if it's approved there so first we have to approve it then CPC has to approve it and then the town has to vote on it yeah and the idea is to put in a CPC um application through Recreation and open space for the funds so all the fund all of it yeah and there's um there's a there's a good out in the current Southwick CBC loes so I don't think this is plus we would be nullifying the previous vote so because this is as we found we we probably could have done something but we were told because it's not the exact Apple to Apples got redo it again right so another article has be y drawn up so this is the supporting information so here's application uh CPC selection criteria which we met with Rick and John at his house and that was filled out so you may want to look at it I'm not sure I think Rick you actually filled this out yeah there was one thing that we wanted to update once we got all the rest of the supporting stuff so this is the this is the uh Pavilion information that I got sent to me this is a letter from Rob basically you know laying out the budget what we should be looking at in the way of cost uh there is a math error on here I actually fixed it on one but I just realized we're off by $5,000 here it adds up to 6 670 right uh and this was for the the lighting and that and that is with it I'll make a motion to present it to the CPC I will second to motion so there's and this is the entire package that was everything yeah everything that we worked on and that uh and whatever I had sent to me good information in that so we can read we'll pass it is it 675 then 670 670 okay so we got 675 on here yeah if you if you look at the numbers that were you know that we threw out there doesn't it adds up to 670 okay that's all I know you made a motion but I kind of like to take a look at everything first I I don't think the town's having a a meeting in December anyways where this would go through probably be we were hoping to hit but it's not to happen I I don't think they're having one the last I heard they only had one other thing on the agenda I I kind of like to take a look at all that yeah absolutely scan that I don't say read it all time so I have a question on this form and maybe I don't know if anybody knows we were filling it out because John and I are kind of presenting this from park and rec did we both sign this how's that work I think you would probably both have to sign it yeah I feel like you would both have to but I can okay so this is the only thing that's incomplete in the package I think right you hit all the everything they were asking for on this one okay the only thing that's incomplete is the signature and the date at this point and Rob is gonna uh I've already asked him to come up with a final rather than a draft which would include a letter to Nicole instead of the [Music] Carl yeah but I would really like to uh vote on it tonight so we can present it next week otherwise we'll have to we might have not have a park and wreck or a CPC meeting in December and if they do decide to have a town meeting this will give them the second thing to vote on and I know that the historical is very anxious to get a vote on the they part of it acquisition yeah I'm I'm just looking at it this is just my opinion I appreciate you guys looking into everything I'm I'm just wondering like if we come back to a town meeting with this after the other one it it just makes it look like the the town people are going to have a lot of question like going from where we were to where this is I'm not saying it's it's a bad proposal comparing app to oranges yeah but I it's not you're not comparing the same thing no I I agree I think we're ready to answer those questions right so the previous one was four four courts with no lighting and this one is six courts with lighting but it was a different a whole different court system too correct yeah built for the long term worried about the town meeting uh pick ball is so uh in demand there's so many people in town that play and have to travel out of town to do it I can't see there being a problem uh getting this pass it's a matter of the CPC approving it which we can find out next week if we pass it tonight one of the things that's happened with pickle ball and it's in when I did the the uh whatever application there uh and I started looking at costs and because of the popularity of pickle ball and with covid and people kind of turning to that being able to play outside uh where you had you had a couple companies that that did Pickleball cours you had to go far and wide up to up to Vermont wherever well now they're everybody in their Uncle I got there's landscaping companies out there that are now saying oh yeah we do pickle ball courts they you know I knew these people they were a landscaper they did my lawn when I lived in Wilbur and so now they're doing pickle ball so they're all over the place and and the and the prices have you know agam when they did their courts uh those first Four Courts and I'm talking asphalt the paving the fencing everything it was $120,000 and that's now they did their last two courts that they put in and it was more than that for for the two courts just because and as I said they did they did some of the work themselves so it's it's not you know it's bigger so yeah the prices have gone you know the cost of of Paving and petroleum and you know oil prices are tied into it so uh fencing I talked to one of the Independent Fence and agam who I I know the individual there and he said you know when we did the fencing here it was XYZ now it's now it's doubled our cost you know so so everything is has gone up and again we relied kind of on Rob L because he you know he's has a better uh you know understanding of what what costs are so what was the original approval through for Four Courts it was it was $210,000 but it was not an asphalt it was a it was a snap together plastic tile on a some concrete U yeah so we have to have some good information solid information then to convince the down are three times again we're getting six courts we're getting all the fencing we're getting lighting and a pavilion and of course it still has to go out and get we have to go out and get bids so it's not necessarily going to cost all of that but we'll find out and we send it out to bid where did the numbers come from just from Rob or the project that was done in in wilam and the bids that they got there so it's like a comp that was for the six courts comparable you know fencing uh the paving the Nets and all that so and then the the additional things were the lighting because they do not have lighting and they did not have a pavilion so and those came from the companies that they they reached out to but the town decided not to do that uh and there was a number of issues why they may do something with that property so they didn't want to put a pavilion on the property where it's an old school on Main Street in in wolverham so um wasn't they didn't want it but may have had some issues with the lighting of neighbors and things like that so Mike you have any feelings on it yeah I mean I think I think what what Randy did say I mean the the popularity is is there um you know I think we I think we have the space for it uh it still has to go out to a you know a competitive bid so we'll see how we'll see how that goes I was going to just ask that question about Wilbraham but it got answered I I think it's important to have a pavilion you know with with these courts to you know obviously to get people out of the out of the elements be it the Sun or the rain if you're out there so um you know I mean I'm I'm in favor of trying to move forward if if there is going to be a December uh town meeting and uh go from there but I think you know they' compared it to an existing court that sounds very similar less the lights are in the Pavilion so um yeah I mean I I would be forward if we're if we're going to take a vote so we kind of have to take a vote have a motion in a second I thought we were still discussing but we can yeah if no one else all night but eventually we have to vote yeah unless anyone has any other comments I mean I I would I would second the motion but I did I already did second the motion that's okay right I maybe I did that a little premature because we need a discussion but and Ry be there as well be B you guys saw tonight um and we teed this up with CPC last meeting saying it'll will likely be ready to bring this to them so it's not going to be a um it's not new news to them we have any guess that others are going to go in for other projects that make drain their funds if there's up you say there's enough there now there there's more than enough there to cover it um I don't know right I've only I'm just curious yeah I've only been with three other projects or six other projects money how much money is there there's got to be a definitive number here was a 3 I heard 3 point something last number just competing against project they fund no I agree yeah so there's a historical project that they're voting on right now but it's different so the way CPC Works my limited understanding is a kind of a new guy right trying to wrap my head around this is there's a there's a uh a fund right that's funded by taxpayer money and by the states some matching stuff but there's five different categories of things that are um available to eligible for it and some of it's carved out for some of that historical is making a play for some of it that's the what John has talking about is one of the Articles that's going they're trying to get in front of the next town meeting um and that's but that's inside that fund I think it's a little different and then we're going for open space and Recreation two were hit two of the five C two of five or S categories right the categories just uh set aside 10% of the money that has to be spent in those categories right the rest goes into the general fund and if there isn't enough uh money in uh open space and Recreation and then they'll just get it out of the general fund but probably is enough I don't have the numbers Saina will be glad to tell us about that next Wednesday yes she will well we made a motion to vote on this I um I'm still undecided I'd like a DAT to digest it truthfully so I'd have to vote no right now I think it's a good project but I just you don't you don't have the time or the information right now do you have enough time with the information yes I that's that's my feeling on it so I vote now at this moment I think it's a good project but I'm just I need to a day or two to digest everything that's fair John Wally votes yes rck Herman votes yes yes Al no just Dave said I agree I gota read it John and Rick got the inside track on the information and no offense to that know I I get it we've lived with it for the last month and a half so longer than that well I mean just more shaping so but yeah we read more about it in the paper than we have seen able to read ourselves so it's 3s 2 no we'll go from here like John said as far as the you know the popularity there's there's a uh app out there called team reach which is used for a lot of different things but it's used quite often for pickle ball where you you're on that if you want to play you put something up there so Westfield currently I just looked at it just for the he they have 800 and something people on their team reach site uh agam has 600 people and they're the two biggest ones because they've been around the longest but that's how many people are are signed up to play on those courts and if you start looking at it because when I you know I'll send something out on the team reach site uh because we don't have one in Southwick for pickle ball but I'll send it out to the Westfield in the awam and I'm always amazed how many responses I get from the people because when I say hey we have a town meeting coming you're a resident because everybody wants to show up but I said unless you're a Southwood resident yeah you know it's nice that you support us but you got put different SE you're not a voting member here you're not a resident so uh because we got people want to just come because they want it but there's probably a good 4050 vocal people that I I'm aware of that are in Southwick that are going elsewhere yeah I realize I I understand it's popular I hear hear this from everybody an adult an adult sport or an adult activity in the town of Southwood we haven't had tennis courts here forever uh I mean when I first came here 30 something years ago I think there was a couple tennis courts over by the the rec center but they've been gone forever uh there really isn't much for as far as adult you can hike you can walk but as far as activities you know for an aging population yeah I appreciate all your time and effort on this I just yeah I understand a lot of money at it for the last six months or so so if they form an organization a club like of a better way to describe it they're going to have to come back here to get priority playing time so so to speak it's open Play you just whoever you show up and and the way it works it works the same way everywhere is you show up at the courts whether you're an individual or you're a group of four people and they have usually there's a paddle rack and the paddle rack is okay there's six courts being played with and let's say we show up and we want to play so we put our paddles up next you put whoever's playing a game when they play their game they have to get off the court you go and play now they put their paddles up the next group gets off and you just kind of keep rotating in and and I know there's been some thoughts about oh you know we need courts this or that because we're not going to be able to play and I've played all over New England and whoever and I've never seen that as a problem won't be an issue now there is um to your point and we did put this in the paperwork there is the ability for any group to come to us and say hey we would like to reserve the courts for like a tournament or something and we can charge them for that because they're going to charge for the tournament you know what I'm saying so there is a revenue making ability I know there's been discussion in the west side that they have to keep they got courts but they have to keep I don't know Four Courts for public play public yeah but they can they can reserve the other on to the they a fund they created a club there called Westfield pickle that's why I called a club I yeah they charged $10 to join it to be and then you you could play in their tournaments and they have some time that is reserved for uh their leagues that they run or uh there's some politics involved with it also as far as how how the the filtering in goes if you're playing during the Westfield pickle ball Club then you can't if we wanted to stay together and play or Rick you me and Cara we couldn't do that during that time you have to mingle in and mix in with everybody and there's a lot of different thoughts and you can read you know lots of articles but you know I lik in it to you know you show up to play tennis usually you show up with people you're going to play with you show up to play golf you show up with people you're going to play with pick Ball's a little different and it's and and it's it's good but it's it's not always good for everybody all the time if you show up with people who are Advanced players and people who are really you know beginner players I'm not sure it benefits either one of them to be out there on the same court by forcing them to be out there together that person who's the better player you're going to just kind of dumb it down or if they're playing with somebody they're they're never going to hit the ball to the better player so it it doesn't always work for pickle ball uh but in theory you know pickle ball for all and everybody can play and most people are very you know very you know generous with their time they're willing to go out there and play a few games with the beginner and help them out do they want to play with them all night no or all day no but okay so but that's usually the way it works you know I've never seen any problems where you know people arguing or fighting it's it's pretty social event you know people are there mostly you know when I did the clinics for the seniors there were a lot of people there because it was a social Gathering you know we had 10 12 people uh are some of those people ever going to be able to go out there and play without someone there directing them I don't know uh some will but they were there because you know they were having a good time it was fun and I think that's what the general you know feedback was at least that I got from the people so yeah absolutely I agree so I have a question on point of order um we took the vote there's Quorum three of five approved does that mean it is approved or did you have a four of five I don't know think it's approved and we we'll present it to uh CTC next week you and I yep that's what I was just wondering okay I think we're good with that one I'll set I'll set for pickle ball next is the CPC request I think we just covered that so I'm leaving all everything I brought with you folks okay yes you have the CPC stuff you may want to look at that car I don't know who maybe take a look at re some of the formatting is a little sketchy there if that makes a difference versus content I think you did a great job did you want did you want to take these to take a look at yeah take yeah Randy thank you very much take these that we have them for next week Randy all right good good all right thank you Randy thank you any other Wally Park business uh yes okay bye Randy uh because we didn't have a meeting last week or last month um number one the crew that's doing maintenance at the fields wow I didn't want to say they did a great job there's always a butt right but they did a really good job the butt is um probably nobody told them um they dropped the clippings behind the um the first base line again in the in the woods right back there near the softball field yeah and they're supposed to do it around the corner um because it gets uh wet and smelly and it just well maybe when the new tractor comes in the springtime we'll have them push it out farther or at this point it's going to turn into mulch and it'll be it'll be gone by the spring it's just dur you know during the warmth of the if they do it again it's just going to make it bad and then that's a trail that the bathroom's way over there and some of the guys like I gotta go and so they jump down there you know what I mean and so just it's right in the middle of that trail um but other than that everything's great there are a couple maintenance things that didn't happen and I don't know who does this but like we talked about the fence curling up yeah that was never tied down and then one of the um what do you call it the clamps or whatever is is just not working again the the on theate yeah the gate is just kind of well I I think our biggest problem goes back to we don't really have a maintenance guy at the park um budget season next year I think I'm going to address that we don't have anybody to repair anything that goes wrong basically our summer guys are landscapers and we don't have anybody that repairs things I mean we're kind of left in the dark with that okay I think we should uh one other thing is look into relining the park for the parking spaces and the arrows and that stuff that's what I was thinking that also and the rail trail uh third of it could probably use a relining also we do have a a paint lining machine down there so it might be worth if we get a paint or a maintenance guy to have them take on some of these projects as well as repairs but I think that's a budget thing to move forward on at this point before we get going again in the springtime yeah something to think about I definitely think the arrows need to be done because when the like when the baseball people there so and then there's maybe something else that's going on there people are going the wrong way lot it's just yeah I stand there sometimes talking to people and I'm like oh someone's going to get killed okay anything else at the park I I agree with you on the maintenance thing I think this the the best it's been in three years yeah they did a bang up job well I think car has been overseeing them quite a bit like the whole year we I don't know if you know but we pretty much over takeen overseeing maintenance instead of the maintenance department can compliment to you so actually everybody uh that's the feedback from softball is they're super thrilled with um the maintenance they line the fields timely they cut it it was great yeah they did a great job we have two great guys up there right now yeah I heard from the baseball guys too they were impressed so I did I did whole games up there it's the best it's ever been so yeah a good job well hopefully everybody takes notice next business is the rail trail um I just mentioned I'd like to get the lines done on that in the springtime also it could probably probably two miles of it is wearing down pretty thin if we don't do the lines at that point it ends up being a little more expensive getting that done um I also went to a friends at a rail trail meeting last week and they were asking about maybe getting DPW out um in the fall before it snows or in the springtime to get the sidearm mow out there on a section of the trail to a little rough north of Feeding Hills Road so like to check into that um also um they mentioned that Google Maps will be going down the trail this weekend I guess starting from in Connecticut up to Avon on Saturday and then set from on Sunday from Avon up through Westfield pulling uh one of their things that will plot out the whole Trail that's cool so if body he happens to be on the trail this weekend you can watch out for him on Sunday run into him at the threeway stop it won't be a vehicle or anything it's supposedly a bicycle pulling something oh it's not autonomous oh disappointed disappoint Google I don't know what to say listening well if you're out there Sunday you can give me your review and that's it for the rail trail next is old business um I don't know if we have any updates on the dog park I haven't heard anything Cara not yet no okay t- bubble Grant anything on that just before you move off that okay somebody made a comment was it Randy made a comment not being supported by the it's not official yet it's just Rumblings he had heard okay well they haven't presented anything to us or to the town so yeah I think we got to wait till that point to see where it goes but like anything else I'm sure everybody's not going to be in favored uh anything on the T-Mobile Grant or Jason still working on that yeah um any other old business anybody has or so on that T-Mobile Grant did you do the letter of recommendation okay right so that's yeah I emailed that to him so he has that I think he was waiting for someone else's um didn't go through so I think he missed the window the window but there's another window coming so I think it might be delayed okay okay no other old business any any new business did you want to say anything about the Christmas tree for the Civic fund yeah oh sure the the Civic fund is going to be doing their um craft there in Holiday Forest again with the trees out front and I was thinking maybe we should purchase one of the trees I think it's $50 we'd have to decorate it it' be out front with everybody else's and lit up during the month of December for the second half of the the friends group or just us yeah the friends of the rail trail group well I figured we would probably get it and they wanted to put some things on it to try to drum up their membership a little bit okay but I I think we should probably get it I mean the friends have been more than generous over the years and all the other projects on the trail saw that well maybe we should get two trees I can't stand that for every day I think that's a good idea okay we'll move ahead with it any other new business anybody has or could bring up we have to vote on that on Christmas trees yeah I'll make a motion that we purchase Christmas tree I will second Mike Will second it uh David Dori I I well TR all right question with B J just when I was joining the board I looked at the budget in in town hall last town meeting last year there's a parking recre fund I know we had the money to raised for parking for the motor cross is there any kind of updates that we could see or do see throughout the year The Way We Stand you see I'm just question well if you if you do have any questions I mean care is always in contact with accounting so could ask her and she can she can check on anything for updates I didn't know they give us like a quarterly here here's what's allowed for the budgets and we're getting close I do I do get them I canver them to the meeting okay or email them or whatever maybe maybe in January if we could do that and then we'll see where we are every month but just to see we get motion to adjourn no I can't wait for that I will suck it you were making him sweat I could see that watch all in favor hi hi hi thanks guys thank you Mike thank you all have a good night good night good night
