with u the mayor's presentation yes there's uh some gentleman here that is really really I like this new microphone that's here you guys hear me pretty good back there huh all right um Mr deputy chief you want to come up here you know sometimes we get uh events that are important to all of us and there's one particular event that's happening tonight and that's a special recognition yes you want to go ahead and explain to everybody what this is so uh first and foremost what I'd like to do is uh I'd like to bring up Mr Mike Mills Mr Mike Mills is part of the employee support of the of the Guard uh guard support uh and um what it is it's an organization that does a couple of things one is that they they advocate for those that are reservist and the second thing is that they also recognize employers that go above and beyond so with that said I will give it to Mr Mills to uh Mr Mr Mills and I have been friends for many many many years absolutely we shared shared the stage for many of these presentations um and assistant CH you you you basically SP my whole description of who I am and why I'm here on you had a good so the yeah the only other the next thing to do well so part of part of our mission is as you said is to recognize uh employers who are supportive of our national Garden Reserve so uh we offer uh service members that that are your employees the opportunity to nominate their bosses for that recognition so here tonight uh to do that and if uh if Chief Diaz and uhic uh National Guard Reserves staff sergeant sonas will join us we have a presentation forer sir right here in the middle front of you Mr doing so I'll leave it to uh staff sergeant casanas to describe uh the reason for the nomination perfect this is new here in the middle but um everybody when I I've been in the National Guard for approximately 13 years now so I've been in you know multiple employers and this is the first employer that I thought about like listen they actually give back to to the National Guard because you got to understand before even Chief came to this department I got activated to go to the border with short notice in 48 hours I had to go and leave and this department was nothing but very supportive of me they gave me time to go get my house ready in order they let me leave work a little bit early just to go get everything ready and then while I was there they were constantly checking up on me and very supportive of everything that we do they're very supportive of the military if you've been downstairs we have the wall of Honor so this um a lot of veterans in our department in our city um obviously the head of our city Mr Mayor also our Chiefs are all in the um couple have been in the military oh I'm sorry this way um I'm just very grateful for for the support that we get from the department and it's an honor to be able to nominate obviously Chief Diaz because he's the head of our department so thank you very much for all the support So if I may I'll let I'll read the uh the award this is uh from the office of the Secretary of Defense employer support of the garden Reserve recognizes Chief Sergio Diaz Sweetwater Police Department as a patriotic employer for contributing to National Security and prot protecting Liberty and Freedom by supporting employee participation in America's national guard and Reserve Force congratulations Chief surprise no Center you Mills right here gentlemen you want to join let's go front center let's go so while they're doing that I could have done this's in the back without everybody up here we we're a team hiring good officers and he's a perfect example of who we hire so it's a team that's true that's it perfect one two three okay perfect thank you yeah you got me got me you got me you got me you sir thank you sir I appreciate itely got and you're still the same way very nice yeah Mr Mayor I did see someone in the crowd in that's here from a special presentation we had from last month yes I do okay and we have another gentleman okay by the way thank you because it's been a long long day today it's one of those Mondays so I I'm going to ask you guys again this is part of the exercise part of getting some steps in yeah but look the one thing that's important is to always say thank you to people so let's get down here and um this particular gentleman Works uh Works uh with an institution that really takes things in a different level for us in the city of sweetwaters makes us very proud to to be able to do events and to do certain things when we are partners with our commercial uh constituents and when we see a commercial constituent that takes it to a different level where is he where's he that was good I didn't even see you Norman get up here Norman got see everybody this gentleman represents a company called Vivo that is there that the company's a lot bigger cordage group yes sir and the cordage group is is really investing money in Sweetwater in Dolphin Mall but this guy and I have a long friendship for many many years and it's always important to say thank you when you step up and Beyond the level and you have you've been there for us and making sure that things are done properly and at the same time working with the city to get ahead so I know that is close to where to AB go this time there he is in the corner okay um to make sure that we give you a recognition so for to Norman Garcia VI Miami operations manager and recognition of your outstanding continuous and dedication to the city of Sweetwater to invite our first annual state of the city address your support is very valuable to us dated first day of July 2024 of course myself as mayor that was history in the making that was the first address of the city that's ever taken place in the city of Sweetwater and Vio immediately said come and do it here we got you we want it done in our facility but it was was this man right here in Norman that made it happen for all you you got [Applause] it bye all right I think we're done with our steps now reports of officers boards and committees none thank you any additions in ISU to the agenda I believe we have additions to the consent agenda and e to the staff items okay uh petitions Communications remonstrances do we have someone ahead thank you Mr President uh I'll be brief uh for seven years that I've sat on this di for seven years I've been asking uh for a strategic plan of the city strategic planning is pretty basic when it comes to government it basically gives us uh an opportunity to plan for the future what we're going to do in the police department you know in in the city Capital Improvements well for the first time in the history of the city of Sweetwater since 1941 we now have a strategic plan for Capital Improvement so Mr may I want to thank you for that uh I can't tell you how excited I am to receive that even though we haven't solidified uh that in the final budget but I will be advocating I don't see anybody here going against that uh you know that I'm a very boisterous individual but I want to thank you uh for giving us that opportunity I'm very very excited about it so thank you that I you thank you sir so we're going to go over to consent agenda do I have a motion to consent the agenda first second second all in favor I I I just have one I just have one question for consent agenda uh item a the resolution of the city Commission of the city of Sweetwater accepting Bureau of justice of this grant for body armor vests I just want to make sure because the previous administration and the previous police administration were giving our officers subpar bulletproof vests uh and they were not level 3A vests so I just want to guarantee from our Command Staff that the vests that we're going to be acquiring with these funds are going to cons agenda yeah we cons agenda we can speak on it and out yes we can that's why I said through the chair after it's already approved still go the whole point excuse me the whole point of a consent agenda is to pass we off debate but to I'm not debating I'm just asking a question okay to answer your question it's not the case we're going the best level 3A that's all I wanted to hear thank you very much make it fast to the point All Right Moving On staff items an ordinance of the a an ordinance of the city of Sweetwater Florida re repealing a division 1.5 sections 2- 395 through 2-41 of the city court of ordinance dissolving the business development Advisory Board providing for cability providing for codification providing for an effective date second reading and public hearing commissioner via opening to public hearing don't know what's going to close Mr V so I'll I'll be brief um this was done with with the greatest of intentions to try and include uh professionals to guide our city and the Business Development board um we just don't have an appetite for it and really uh I don't want to continue with the bureaucracy and every single meeting of having nobody adding anybody to this list we have a different Administration now the commission's all on the same page so I think it would be in the the best interest of the city to go ahead and eliminate this board agree it's been it's been moved by commissioner yanan second by myself roll call Madam clerk yes yes yes commissioner via yes commissioner V yes president Ray yes he passes thank you madam clerk moving order B nomination consideration appointment of members to the youth Advisory Board we still have item 11 a yeah we'll just going to go through ABC just get rid of those and then we got e okay n okay C nomination consideration appointment of the members to the Planning and Zoning Board we have anyone I have somebody I'll have somebody next mon okay and D nomination consideration appointment of members to the neighborhood Improvement Advisory Board none all right moving over to C staff IR C I mean sorry e a resolution of the city Commission of the city of Sweetwater awarding contract software hardware and training for electronic parking citation processing system providing for authorization and providing for an effective date mayor Diaz it's basically what it states is a system that basically continues to be able to modify our parking tickets and that's basically it move second commissioner Diaz yes commissioner via yes commissioner Vio yes commissioner Yano yes Pres Ray yes he passes yes thank you madam clerk moving over to reports a mayor's mayor's report thank you Mr President Commissioners one uh one thing I want to bring in in um to the counselor um well do we uh could I present somebody at this time yes you can do it in the mayor's report which is what you're doing now yes and there's a gentleman that I want to bring forth to this commission uh we've been blessed to be able to bring in um this gentleman to work as the uh building official for the city of Sweetwater I know he's very old and he but he has a lot of wisdom and he is somebody that is coming forth with uh a lot of let's just say his family before him did the same thing and he is something that is coming to Sweetwater with the ability to do not only what is right but with the licenses the things that are needed to be able to pursue his job and be able to balance and take us into the next Century basically of making sure we modernize our department for building and get the best inspections out there with the best possible service to the citizens of the city of Sweetwater and I'll introduce you another gentleman I was just going to introduce him to you but in the nick of time of things that are going on I would like to present them to you for your ratification because this is the kind of person that we need in our city moving forward so with that I would like to have the honor if you want to have any question you want to introduce yourself Mr Ruby please good evening any Everyone by the way with before you start he didn't know I was going to do this to him right now I'm nervous I caught him totally off guard so I just want you to understand I am sorry but in the interest of time we got to move um my name is Richard Ruby um I'm a general contractor a roofing contractor plumbing contractor building official inspector and plans examiner uh I I was a building official of North Miami prior uh helped make some changes there uh also being a contractor I understand both sides of the fence so I like to bring that as as experience um just happy to be here and uh grateful for the opportunity I'm going to do the best I can to represent the city of Sweetwater it's a great City well thank you very much point of order um Mr attorney can we ratify now or does he have does he actually have you place on the agenda I don't believe he has to be placed on the agenda because this is an open meeting thank you uh so it can be done on the mayor's report which is what he's doing now thank you uh move to ratify second second to ratify go ahead all in favor all hi any welcome to BU thank you any oppos all right with that said and done um as you all know we got the new PBA contract signed All right so we're good and we're moving in now for another three years with the PBA with the men and blue sitting back there um and ladies uh we'll continue to work with all the employees will continue to do the same as we've done before we continue to bring a more professional look into our police Department uh which is important the type of things that they need the schooling everything the chief has taken a priority to make sure that everybody is trained accordingly and they have the proper uh license degrees everything that they need to have to move forward so working with the PBA we we were able to balance the contract as you all know and it's probably one of the best contracts that's out there and we're very proud of it and we're proud of the the work that they do for all of us in this city and that's basically it on that um what an amazing Fourth of July celebration we had it's probably one of the best Fourth of July I've ever seen and especially in the city of Sweetwater so um all I can say is that this one is going to be hard to top but we'll find a way I want to thank the fireworks display people it was supposed to be 15 minutes but I think it was a lot longer than that 31 minutes I know you were had the clock for a reason and um it worked out the the families all enjoyed it not a single person um was a negative we had a couple of missing children but they were found immediately uh all in once it seemed like but it was we had police everywhere everybody was well spread out we were prepared for in case something like that happened and children were found real fast and and L to say that everything worked accordingly even the weather held up for us so very proud of that and I want to thank all that were involved and everybody that was uh part of that I want to thank okay the the police department and also our maintenance crew that really worked hard to make sure it was done also the employees that volunteered area including our city clerk that sit there and gave tickets to everybody um so it was a good event and one that we're Now setting a new standard in the city to continue people are asking for this and I know that you all volunteer to help out thank you so much for that and um very appreciative of that so uh also I want to also talk about a a new unit and chief if you want to come up here please this is a unit that I asked and in uh ma don't worry I just saw you and I'll bring you up in a second um there's a unit that I asked the chief as came on to the city of Sweetwater I wanted to have a fast response type unit that could respond to things that are needed to be addressed in the city whatever it may be anything from gang to whatever it could be that could be developed in our City he said give me a little time and let's let's see about the contract and so on the contract finished and the Chief came through with his promise and delivered a unit which is the priority service unit and chief could you describe the unit and tell the Commissioners please good evening mayor and Commissioners Chief Sergio Diaz so when I first basically was interviewed by the mayor uh about a year and couple months ago that was one of his questions to me was can we have some type of unit that will um solve any problems we have anything from parking problems all the way to robberies if we had any and we came up me and my my Chiefs and uh some of the lieutenants and the majors we came up with a priority Service Unit so you might have seen them already uh it's led by uh Lieutenant Archie and a couple officers um again we're here as a Sol a problem solving team we're a team and it can be anything uh from parking problems traffic problems homeless issues we work closely with the homeless trust to the very violent crimes that we have uh we working different hours different days uh we're adjusting with our crime Trends um and we will be uh addressing any problems that we think we may have or we may have uh we've been working in the last the the unit has been up like two to three weeks and we have made some arrests and in progress calls uh we've been uh in zone three and these business people people really do know that city of Sweetwater Police Department is out there and the Dolphin Mall and now we're going to start um soon uh the good news is we have a Detachment from FIU we're going to have an FIU officer uh be part of the team so we're going to be addressing the dorms uh he's going to be with us fulltime uh he'll have accessibility to databases and any anything like that that we we need we know that our student popul population is growing and we want to make sure that they're safe and again if there's anything I can do or any issues you guys may think of let the mayor know and we'll we'll address it that is uh thank you Chief yes and that is something that it is also a first in the city of Sweetwater all right um if you recall any questions on that we're good all right on uh last uh when I first became mayor I addressed that we were going to try to do a festival for our veterans our active Personnel military personnel and the future RC whatever young men and women that when I going into the military it was by the time we got things the boat kind of steered it you know it went past the date and we could not raise the kind of money to move forward you guys were Splendid you guys said whatever money was needed let's put it together because it'll put what we're all about in with our city in an event that's very important to all of us as you can hear from the prayer that commissioner said today the military thank God is out there making sure that we could have our way of life and and it's the best military to me in the world and I was very proud as others that are here to have served in our military and especially in the Marine courp so therefore giving back one of the things that I want to do is move this city more into a military respected City we just saw what the chief got today for making sure that people that do go serve our country when they're called could be sure that their job is still here and they're protected from what they're serving our duty the duty that needs to be served so we're going to go forward I'm going to be looking at a different different things but I want to tell you about Valor Fest I apologize in the haste of issues that we had today I was supposed to put the deck and if we could get uh a copy of it uh done as soon as possible and given to each commissioner so they understand what Valor Fest is going to be about it's similar to what we discussed last time we're going to do we're going to close down again the street uh 107th this time the stage is going to be a lot bigger we're going to have a lot more people with time we're going to bring in the military southcom and all the other entities military entities and it's going to be 1111 of 2024 okay we're going to be going out for sponsors following the guidelines that I have to make sure that we do and whatever is picked up we're going to tr we're going to put it through what is called the United States military Foundation this found was created to make sure it gets built to give the right groups that are doing the right thing to the military or special needs within the military to be able to give those people the award to move forward this is something that I've been a part of for now for several years and I want to make sure that we do the right thing for those that are serving and that have served or those that will serve uh sometimes the young men and women and I know we got uh somebody that's helping out with her up with cap but a lot of these men and women that want to go in they don't have the funding believe it or not just to to to get to the point of the right schooling and the right knowledge because in today's military your grades your graduation everything is very important to today in today's military as you want know so this event is going to be a celebratory type event it's going to be an event that's a festival and that Festival it's going to be done um with music with you know Booth with military equipment we're working we want to make this spectacular if you think the Fourth of July was something special hold on because we want to make this so the rest of the Cities out there know that sweet waterer is supportive of their military and that's what this is all about I need to get together to sign contractual agreements for singers we're looking at top name bands okay aturo SAR Y is already on board which is an incredible incredible probably the best trumpist in the in the world right now uh he got the freedom award from the presidency and so on he's coming with his ban and that's just a start of it we're going to bring others but it's not just about the music it's going to be about RC coming and doing a rifle drill you know other things that we'll come up with it's going to be a effective day probably from 4: to 10:00 it's going to be a memorial day that Monday late afternoon I keep doing the same thing Veterans Day okay that day so it's uh this is important I think it continues to put us on the map but I wanted I need to get the authorization of this commission to be able to sign those contracts and make sure that they're done properly am I correct Mr attorney that way it's it's a contractual agreement we will be looking at everything we will do things again the United States military Foundation could be doing it not a problem but there's things I have to do already signed for based on I figured an okay from you to get uh the block the the blocking of the street for the period of time that we the Avenue that we need to do but there's going to be other things that come up and that's why I need the support from you any questions to the shair do we need to put a motion or agree to it or how we going to handle it sir um you can go ahead and put in a motion toh to authorize the mayor to engage in this if you wish uh although actual contracts will need to be brought back to the commission at some point the what the actual contracts will need to be brought back to the commission for approval that's that's why I'm asking for because these contracts are very difficult to be bringing back and forth with time okay I got to move on once they say we're going to do it yes so I'm going to put a motion yeah all put in the motion yeah I'm sorry motion on sorry I'm Mo approving the uh the event right of the contract the contracts that come up to this event veter Day event you want to clarify it so it can sounds is there a monetary figure that you would like yes uh do you know what that is each contracts should be different it will fall within the same we will keep it so we will not have an issue because we're going out for Major funding okay okay um well it will be a motion to authorize the mayor to engage in um to contract with outside vendors for the Balor Fest uh event okay I want to support the motion move second second third all in favor I I I'm sorry mayor mayor are you are you g to come with a number to us we I'm trying to raise the money through sponsorship um we already had uh one big sponsors and two other sponsors coming on board I'm going to try to raise a majority of money remember we had allocated for this last year 100 ,000 and we didn't use it because we couldn't do the event properly the way we want to do it that money is still there the money is still there it's moved into the budget but I don't plan to touch that money if we don't need to gotcha now our own police um things like our maintenance overtime hours that is in kind for us but it's still a monetary event for us right and that's part of what the money is for like when we do the Halloween and everything else but in case you know certain bands and stuff I'm really really trying to raise all the money because the idea is not just to raise the money for the event the idea is to raise enough money for the foundation to have money to be able to give to the right military groups or the right needy people within those that served our country right but at the end of the day we we we're going to have to chop in a little bit money yeah right well we are by having our own this is no different than what we did when we talked about it last time right right right are we getting any are we going to get charged to close that street with the county no no no okay no but there is a cost a preparing the street getting the vendors the tents everything again everything that we're going to be doing for the sponsorships for everything else it's like let me see I could put it to it's like like uh Street the festival right the right you know that that will actually be the case you you going to have vendors in there yes okay so but the vendors are going to be the kind of vendors that are the probably the sponsor vendors and if we bring in a group of vendors for food and stuff like that we're yes because everything here it's not for us to to bring in money it's for the foundation to raise money gotta for for this uh event but the most important thing for us here is our city looks great and we do the kind of event that will take it to a different level so that is the biggest important part um it's not so much the money we're trying to raise all that but making sure you guys are aware of everything that's going on and what I'll do is I'll bring you guys in and I'll show you but I'll get you a copy of the deck what this is all about yes and that way you guys could see the magnitude and latitude that we're going to take this to okay okay to this year go ahead I have to thank you really deeply because uh you know everything that is military is my concern that's what I'm doing I'm creating leaders for the future so I really thank you you have been for a long time for a long time thank you so um that's that Fest is done we have um uh AB you want to step a second to National Night Out can you give it a brief explanation good evening Commissioners Al Zaba Communications executive officer signed to the mayor never done this did it right we have a National Night Out it's a national day that a community goes out the police departments go out to the community and of course they uh it's they engage community policing letting the community know that what services their polies are there for to listen to their concerns what is it that we can do and create that Bond within police and community and it's a very important it's a national event tomorrow it will it's it's August 6 throughout the entire country and of course our Police Department through our chief Sergio Diaz has already set up a emergency vehicle uh parade that what they're going to do and it's going to start at City Hall between the hours of 5:00 P p.m. and 700 p.m. and it's going to end and City Hall and the route is going to have two stops of 15 minutes of each stop one is going to be ronelli park because there's a lot of children families out there throughout those hours it's a good moment to engage and on top of that it's going to be at the commercial mall that's located at Flagler and 107 where there's a lot of residents that are there as well and that's why they felt the Command Staff felt it was important to be able to stop at those two to be able to have the most Community engagement as possible and continue to end at City Hall but it's going to go throughout the city so that way everyone can see and see all of the resources of the police departments and of course the leadership will be present and it's a good Community engagement to participate as the rest of the nation is as well so uh when is that tomorrow August 6 between 5:00 pm and 7 PM starts at City Hall and ends in City Hall okay so I want uh you guys to please join us I know this is last minute uh trust me it uh it's been like things lately but that's just the way it is it's important to do and I'll have a a truck uh by the way for part of our Emergency Management um Department that we've created to like I spoke to you last time uh we bought a nice pickup and we want to make sure that uh you guys could jump on and and go with us too so be here tomorrow tomorrow yes correct you guys want to add anything um Noel Gil Deputy chair uh deputy chief for the uh deputy chief uh for the city of Sweetwater Police Department as you all know last year we did this for the very first time ever in the city of Sweetwater so this is going to be the second of many more to come it's important it's a great time to interact with the community so this is a a great event that has been occurring in many other municipalities throughout the nation uh probably for the better half of the last 15 years and uh it is important that we participate in it so that again our citizens uh have that interaction with the police but also have that interaction with with all of you right and and with the rest of the folks in the uh in this city in this great city of ours that uh render such great um community Assistance and some such great service so again thank you thank you for all the support that you guys give us and uh we look forward to having you out there chief chief yes sir yes sir I just uh you know it's a long day it's been a long day it's been a very long day very long day um I got a couple more things and we'll be done and I know uh I want to also bring up um Martin you want to come up a second another one's a deer and hairlights you didn't know uh come up here a second please Martin yes Martin Garcia as our new chief of Court enforcement okay uh he is a 35e city of Miami police officer retiree and also well I should have started first he's also a marine so uh that should should have been my first part but I got to screwed that up so then he's uh 30y year 35 year retirement of City of Miami Police and then also he worked as a code enforcement officer um for a couple of cities am I correct or one city uh West Miami and cor Gables okay you want to say better you say than I say it go ahead uh good evening commissioner Mr Mayor give you a quick history uh at my young age I had nothing better to do but I joined the Marine Corps I did four years in the Marine Corps uh to me that's the best fraternity that I a member of uh from there I joined the Miami Police Department uh I did 35 years there and retire during retirement I guess I got kind of bored so I became a Cote enforcement officer I did five years and West Miami uh and three years with the gables through my code enforcement career I became certified and I became a certified Chief code enforcement uh when the mayor called and we interview asked me if I was interested to leave The Gables to come over here I tell them it was my pleasure do anyone want to have any questions for thank thank you sir you're welcome and um I wanted to to leave this for last this my report because is a very sad um part of the report and that is the passing of noral um longtime employee of the city an incredible person that always greeted you with a smile uh worked in finance I know all of you know her and it's she she was a fighter fought hard to make sure she always came to work um supported by by her whole department and many friends um did you guys want to add anything um Annie did you want anything on on not yes okay I didn't think I know but uh it was my great honor to know her even for the short time that I did get to know her once again there was in one time even going through all the pains that she was going through that she was working that she ever said anything and she was always a smile and asking me do you want some coffee Mar do you want anything when I walked into Finance uh just an incredible person so uh we went to her funeral um I shut down maintenance for a while maintenance this is a long day Finance uh for a little for couple hours uh so they could all go and personally give her goodbyes so I wanted you all to understand uh that we did do this in the city and I don't know if that's happened before but we want to make sure that we always cover and we did give some send some flowers on behalf of all of us in in the government as we were okay with that I think I have nothing left and we're good thank you yes mayor mayor to chair go ahead mayor can you give us a little bit of um what's going on in the Parks Parks Parks is moving on we have as some of you saw the polls I know that a couple of you uh I didn't know I had a home run hitter here by Mr President president and of course Mr we WEA too uh that said that we had to take the Nets up very high in the park well those are 60ft poles with 60 foot net that's going to be going on the poles are up um I know that Allan's been working diligently along with my crew out there that has been analyzing everything that is happening in the park uh ronelli Park is moving uh forward with the Nets the underground on the um drainage system and we're trying to get everything done around the fencing area too that's going to happen because once we get that you know the underground finish we can't bring in the trucks to put the stuff so that's happening we're moving as fast as we possibly can we pray that we get some dry days to be able to do some of the other things but uh we're subject to what happens uh we're moving forward at every angle we have have some issues still with the pickle ball courts we're finishing hopefully that within a week or two but again they have to wait till a dry couple of days and you know just this time of year is very difficult to get it going um our uh summer program has been doing an incredible job um I I'm sure you guys have heard from the parents are extremely happy our karate uh is what are we we up to now do we know oh you're here yes Park director was hiding behind Martin there so I didn't see him how many are we up to we're about 55 55 in the karate program and we're only on our second month or third month second month second month so the money that you've uh um we approved in the budget and everything we're doing and we're now going after a dance instructor to bring that on board among many other program so the programs I know the parks are very special to you commissioner uh we're trying everything we can to continue to improve everything we saw the side that was put all around the car um Carlo part that we put we we're still working there's still a lot of work to be done but hopefully before before the end of the years comes we'll have our parks at the tiptop shape that we're looking to have all right uh commissioner report I wanted to fill in and touch base on the parks with you um I mean they've done an amazing job with the uh summer camp I know it's coming to an end I I know we spoke earlier in the year and also with the mayor that we were kind of worried that we weren't having as many kids and I said Relax word of mouth it's all coming back and I'm going to say that next year we're going to need more more uh helpers there because I've been getting feedback and you know those same parents have passed the that hey that this you know it was a successful summer camp some people they were kind of you know my kids aren't another one they got friends there you know they want to stay there but now actually they've pulled over here and now that words getting around that this is a great one I know they gone to the zoo the frost Museum the other day they were coming back from Bird Bowl ultimate favorite um you know they were getting right after the the bird bow they were actually going to watch a movie I was able to you know meet some of the kids and they were very excited I asked them a few questions you know I I believe you brought up the idea that we're going to be doing some changes inside very great idea you know we're going to take away some of that Echo and you know the projectors and I'm not going to keep going with that I'll let you do that later on but I you know I just want to give a thanks to Alex and his team they've done an amazing job and you know that's one of our I mean I'm sure everyone up here in the board one of our number one is the parks for the community and we've done that it's been successful next year it's going to be even more successful there's going to be a lot more kids just letting you know but I mean if you want to tune into some of it but just wanted to give thanks to them and his team Mr President you're absolutely correct I think next year's going to double up because for the money that the parents contribute it it's they it's really incredible the amount of uh places are going everything they're doing and and so but we need to make it affordable so those people that make sure that they go to to a place they could have their their children there we'll continue to work to even make it more affordable uh especially the amount of kids that are be coming in the future but I Alex stand up a second I want to thank Alex for making sure as the president did that the kids were safe no incidents I mean it is working excellent so I wanted to thank you and the staff that was hired I also want to thank Jolie um that really did a good job in making sure we vetted every person that's working with the kids so we have top professionals that are working I don't know what it was in the past but I do know in the future in the future uh I know the present and I know the future and we're very proud of what we have done so that's uh good to add to the part about the uh projectors and the screens uh I believe don't see him here I know he's probably working upstairs still I mean well over there um we're we're trying to get the right balance of the projectors and in the screens and the reason is it's not only for the Civil Patrol to be used it's also for the city and what do I mean by that we got a big screen get we didn't get into that but the big screen that's going to go on the outside when we do movie nights or we have events or we have um games that's going to be handling outside for that but let's just say it's a rting night and we already have a r uh um movie night set up well we don't need to count because now we could bring an IND door to the H makosa youth center and be able to have the screens that projected properly with the right sound system so everybody could have a good time and then also when we might have to do things in the future where we're going to need to do presentations and we're going to do it it works too it's not cheap or inexpensive but I want to make sure whatever we put like the system we put in here is done in a way where it lasts and it's the quality as a servant of the city citizens of Sweet Water so yes mayor he's he's back there oh come on over here tiny guy I didn't see you he was inside Mar you want to add to that because it's important for them to understand what's going in there good evening Mar the is city of Sweetwater um director of Technology um we're looking at um different systems that um have been getting we're getting quotes for um again the mayor said it perfectly um two different screens um audio so that it's balanced throughout the whole throughout the whole in interior of the building um we're also looking externally as well there's some that's already included with um the project um we want to make sure the systems you know talk to each other that you can do an event Outside Inside and that everybody has uh a good hearing of what's going on and and screens are big enough that um the the projection is clear so that even if you're sitting you know at the far back you're going to get a clear view what's what's going on in the front um as well and the multi-use right so the multi-use of you want to have audio over here and then over there you'll be able to do SE separation of all the audio into zones so it's a very very um very technology and all advaned through chair are we getting uh some type of cameras for cameras around the park yes security cameras yes yes as well there on different project is that is that part of the project you guys no that's that's a different project that we have um going on right now for security um at all the different locations that we have all the different five sites that we have yeah we spending a lot of money on that Park so we want to make sure that yeah yeah that everything is secure yeah I have a a preliminary um sketch of where cameras would be going 360 cameras around the park so that we're only not looking at interior of the park but looking at the roadway outside around the park the whole area inside the actual building as well uh we'll be able to look and see you know what's what's going on and all all the different entrances right if someone comes in and different angles so we are that's a different project but we are looking at at that um camera security cameras and those integrate with what's called um with our our investment already into the police systems so we want to make sure that all those feeds you know um come in and it's seamless um to our to our environment yeah great um mayor um I mean had a couple of um complaints for the Neighbors in the area when they when it rain and there's nobody there that that thing still sound 3 o'clock in the morning 2 o'clock in the morning they got the the the lighting the lighting sound the lighting war is that something that we can do as a city that turn it off when nobody's in the park cuz sometimes that into it we would have to look into it yeah sometimes it sounds like around 3:00 look into it and see I believe that standard but uh because they would play to a certain time at night yeah but I will double check and see if there's uh a way we could turn it off during the time there's nobody playing in the park at that time uh but we do have to have the lightning yeah protection for the times that even if it's the talot they can be on there um um no it's understand I just mean that when there's nobody that when the park is closed not to thank you Mar not to have it on thank you mayor thank you Mario to the shair okay I would like to report that um last Friday we had like a little with the summer camp um commissioner Vian NOA myself uh we brought them Pizza we brought them uh chocolatei cookies chips solders gift they had a bow I mean that's something that we want to ship in and believe it or not I'm going to say this because it really you know it was amazing commissioner Vian NOA start saying okay we have some some kids have even five slice of pizza but uh he has some six left and he says okay can anybody tell me how many Commissioners are in the city of sea water I was expecting one kid say seven I know it's amazing I mean he was the 11 years old kid and he knew that we was seven commissioner with I think a lot of people doesn't even know well listen you guys must have had a blast because I have a blast when I go there and and it actually you could have a tough day but then you hear them and you hear the conversations and they come and ask you all kinds of questions and U Mr America you do I mean it's it's it's really uh ratifying like when you go to the park I know several you go to the park to the TD lots and um and you guys enjoy it and and it's really something really special for all of us look it's a new day we came to say that we could do this and we've started to do everything that we said we were going to do and I think that's important and the citizens are happy for that reason now we'll continue to work and prepare ourselves uh there is a couple of negatives uh one is people are throwing their trash after we they heard the storm coming the first thing they did is cut their trees and throw it out in the Mr Martin over there um Garcia is um going to talk to people nicely and express to them that we're not going to tolerate that in the future um and make sure but education and those of you could please that get those calls or stuff we need to make sure that this is got to end because we cannot continue to and by the way that happens everywhere uh but we cannot continue to do this just before a possible storm hitting so that was one thing that I I wanted to ask for your help and make sure we could reach out to the people good any more commissioner report good city clerk's report it is test city attorney's report nothing in present sir thank you police report is aest attached building and Zoning report is is attached so is uh code and Code Compliance report Public Works report is also attached Finance report we have our reports community and elig service report we have that Parks and Recreations also say anything about that they're going to have like an event for the commissioner or from 600 to 7 I think it is yeah yeah can you expain yeah I was there the other day and they told me about it and I good evening Commissioners mayor Alex sud director of uh Parks and Recreation Maya was going to send out an email tomorrow inviting you uh to the Showcase we've been and it was kind of like a surprise summer camp uh the Summer Camp staff and I have been working with the kids we have them uh doing six different songs as some of you may know I was a music teacher for about 10 years um so we've been
