The Commission devoted considerable discussion to the Oktoberfest event, scheduled for September 28, 2024. Expected to draw around 1,000 attendees, the event will run from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Oktoberfest will feature multiple vendors, including Moon Hill Brewing, Red Apple Farm’s cidery, the Acadian Social Club, Tavern 13, and the Decanted Wine Truck. A detailed map of the event layout was reviewed, indicating the placement of stages, vendors, and newly proposed areas for serving alcohol to enhance crowd management and safety.

One significant adjustment from previous years involves consolidating vendor locations to improve accessibility and visibility. The Commission emphasized the importance of maintaining open communication with the Gardner Police Department to ensure adequate security measures. A minimum of two to three police details will be present throughout the event, with additional security personnel monitoring key areas.

Fitness Concepts also received approval for a one-day license for their outdoor Pilates and yoga session on August 22, 2024. The event will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with attendees arriving as early as 5:00 p.m. but the first drink being served around 6:30 p.m. The event is expected to attract around 50 participants, offering both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The Commission reminded the organizers to display a placard in the serving area for clarity and compliance.

In addition to these major events, the Commission approved several smaller one-day licenses. The Gardner Elks Riders received approval for their fundraiser on August 31, 2024, and the Gardner Elks Lodge was granted a license for a wedding on October 12, 2024. Both events will take place with specific timings and crowd control measures in place to ensure smooth operations.
