Updates on community programs were also provided. The leaf collection program has undergone changes, with an earlier start date to accommodate early leaf fall. This year, collection begins the week of October 21, with a revised schedule starting in zones two and seven. Street sweepers will work alongside leaf collection crews to ensure thorough cleanup, especially in wet conditions. Free leaf bags will be available starting October 15, and residents are encouraged to sign up for Nixel alerts for timely updates.

The meeting also highlighted developments in downtown Westfield, with the opening of new businesses. A 1950s-themed hot dog restaurant, 1950s Originals, has opened on Elm Street, boasting “the best fries ever.” Maze Coaching and Cocktails is in its soft opening phase, with full operations expected to start by October 15. This adds to the town’s vibrant commercial scene, attracting both residents and visitors.
