These include the introduction of the Navigate 360 platform, which integrates social-emotional learning and character education modules, and the use of student mediation to resolve conflicts. Additionally, the district has increased counseling staff at the middle school and installed vape sensors to curb substance use. The sensors, designed to detect vaping in school bathrooms, have been operational, with alerts sent to administrators who monitor footage to identify students involved. While the sensors are still under evaluation for effectiveness, their presence serves as a deterrent against vaping.

In conjunction with these safety efforts, the board discussed the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights (ABR) self-assessment, which evaluates the district’s anti-bullying programs and overall school climate. Building teams conducted self-assessments, resulting in a slight improvement in scores. The assessment aims to identify strengths and areas for improvement, guiding future updates to the district’s safety plans. The board also emphasized the importance of the “Stop It” tool, an anonymous reporting system for students to report bullying or conflicts, though it was noted that awareness of this tool among students needs improvement.
