This included recognition of Anna Calus, a senior at North Brunswick High School, who was a mentor and captain of the varsity team, and Jordan Teriya, who earned all-white division honors. The board also acknowledged the success of the cross-country team, with both boys and girls winning their divisions for the first time in several years.

Superintendent Janet Ciarrocca introduced the athletic director, who presented a detailed account of the fall sports season. Standout performances included Jillian Fer and Noemi Hernandez from the girls’ soccer team, Hayden from the boys’ soccer team, and Blake, a senior cross-country runner being recruited by Division One schools. The board celebrated the athletes’ accomplishments, fostering a sense of community recognition for their efforts.

The board further discussed new educational offerings for the 2025-2026 school year. Plans include introducing Advanced Placement (AP) Environmental Science, CP Physical Science, and a course named Kickstart, designed to prepare students for industry certifications in fields like cybersecurity and gaming animation. Additionally, the comparative zoology course will be renamed AP Cyber Security, while the Principles of Engineering course will continue.

The human resources committee addressed personnel matters, covering resignations, new hires, and ongoing vacancies. The committee encouraged candidates to apply for teaching positions and highlighted the qualification of support staff for additional stipends due to new certifications. The hiring of an English supervisor at the high school is anticipated soon.

Business operations included a motion to approve concrete replacement in Parsons Courtyard and various repairs, such as those related to audits, the Lynwood Chiller, roofing, HVAC controls, and water testing. These motions were approved unanimously.

The board also acknowledged a letter from the North Brunswick Food Bank, expressing gratitude for a recent donation.
