- Meeting Overview:
In a meeting held on December 19, 2024, the Princeton Planning Board unanimously approved updates to its bylaws. This update reflects procedural changes over the past decade and aligns the bylaws with current municipal codes and practices, including virtual meeting norms.
The newly adopted bylaws are the culmination of an intensive process that began in August 2023. They were carefully crafted to harmonize with existing municipal regulations and reflect changes in planning practices, particularly the shift to virtual meetings via Zoom. The updates address various procedural elements, such as removing outdated references, clarifying roles and titles, and incorporating recent changes like the transition from the Site Plan Review Board to the Site Plan Committee. They also codify the process for conducting concept reviews, a practice that has evolved since the last revision.
Board members expressed satisfaction with the collaborative effort that resulted in the updated bylaws, noting the dedication and thoroughness of the process. The revisions were developed with input from board leadership, reviewed by legal counsel, and endorsed by the Procedures Committee before being presented for a vote.
Another topic discussed was the carrying of the Princeton Shopping Center’s Eden’s application for signage to February 20th. This decision was made due to the applicant’s availability and the need for additional information, which was previously requested but not received in time. The board had initially approved facade signs in November, with directional and identification signage deferred pending further details.
The meeting also covered reports from subcommittees, including the Landscape Committee, which approved Princeton University’s landscape plan for the 112-116 Prospect Avenue project. The Site Plan Committee reported on the classification of Stony Brook Regional Sewage’s project, which involves the demolition and rebuild of a prefabricated office trailer.
