Global Life Sciences, a prominent science and technology firm, will expand its operations on Results Way. The expansion will include increased lab and training space, anticipated to attract 3,000 to 5,000 visitors annually, benefiting local businesses such as hotels and restaurants. The agreement also ensures that the new jobs created will not be performed remotely, emphasizing local employment.

The council’s approval came after a review by the finance committee, which recommended modifications to the agreement for clarity regarding the employment figures. The city solicitor was tasked with editing the document to accurately reflect the relocation of employees as new and relocated positions in Marlborough.

Additionally, the meeting addressed a $1,000 gift from the Cummings Foundation to the Marlborough Senior Center for fuel assistance to seniors this winter.

Public infrastructure developments were also on the agenda, with plans for installing new electric conduits and poles by Mass Electric and Verizon New England on various streets. Public hearings for these projects are scheduled for November 18th, aligning with the city’s infrastructural upgrades before winter.

Finally, a special permit application was discussed, proposing the conversion of a two-family residential property into a three-family residence. The council referred this to the Urban Affairs Committee, with a public hearing set for December 2nd.
