During the meeting presided over by the board president, a crucial agenda was the re-approval of the K-8 Curriculum aligned with the updated New Jersey Student Learning Standard.

In addition to curriculum adjustments, the Board validated several agreements to foster the professional growth of the district’s educators. Among these was the approval of the Statement of Assurance for the District Professional Development Plan and the District Mentoring Plan for the 2023-2024 school year. The Board also approved mentoring arrangements and payroll deductions for five district employees, showcasing a dedication to nurturing the teaching staff’s development within the Woodcliff Lake School District.

Superintendent Lauren Barbelet and the policy committee recommended the first reading of various policies and regulations, which the Board approved.

A series of personnel decisions were on the docket, with several approvals for staff resignations and retirements. Notably, the board also rescinded an employment offer to a prospective teacher’s assistant.

In financial matters, the Woodcliff Lake Education Foundation (WCLEF) extended a donation to the board, which was warmly accepted. The Board approved private placement tuitions for two Woodcliff Lake students.

The Board expressed gratitude towards the New Jersey Department of Health for donating air purifiers.
