Otsego City Council: Fourth Grader Wins Mayor for a Day Contest, Advocates for Parks and Recreation
- Meeting Overview:
At the recent Otsego City Council meeting, Avery Harala, a fourth grader from Otsego Elementary, was celebrated as one of the winners of the Mayor for a Day essay contest organized by the League of Minnesota Cities. Avery’s essay emphasized the importance of parks and recreation, suggesting more trails, additional parks, and improved sanitation facilities to ensure children can play safely. Avery was invited to participate in future Parks and Recreation meetings to further discuss her ideas.
The meeting also addressed the scheduling of a special closed meeting for March 24, 2025, at 6 PM. The Council plans to explore offers on trail easements for two projects within the city. Additionally, a potential date for a joint meeting between the City Council and the Public Safety Commission was discussed, but scheduling conflicts were noted, prompting plans for a follow-up.
