Another topic was the vacation buyback request by Kelly Costka from the assessor’s office. Due to being understaffed and facing personal medical emergencies, Costka sought compensation for 65 hours of unused vacation time. The committee unanimously approved the buyback, acknowledging the extraordinary circumstances that prevented Costka from utilizing her earned time off.

The meeting also addressed the ongoing beach pass distribution process. The first phase, conducted on a first-come, first-serve basis, was reported to be a success, largely due to the efforts of Sydney Averos, Karen Narella, and Lauren Golder. Despite some disappointment among residents, the committee noted the positive response and looked forward to the upcoming lottery for additional passes.

Lastly, the committee discussed the ongoing search for a town administrator and town accountant. With numerous applications received, there was a proposal to form internal screening committees to evaluate candidates. The process aims to be thorough while considering internal candidates, with the final decision resting with the board.
