During discussions, council members inquired about the timing of the bids for the alternates, and it was confirmed that Sunra Construction is flexible with its project schedule to accommodate the delay. This led to the adoption of resolution 2025-43, awarding the bid to Sunra Construction, which passed unanimously.

In addition to the Willowbrook Park projects, the council approved the final plat for Oakdale Farms edition, a replatting intended to divide a single lot into four parcels for potential future sales. This area is strategically located between an Aldi and a Starbucks. Community Development Director Andrew Goff presented the item, noting that the revision of the plat came with only one legal condition, streamlining the approval process. The council approved resolution 2025-10 for the final plat without objections.

The meeting also featured several proclamations issued by the mayor, recognizing important community themes. May was declared Mental Health Awareness Month, emphasizing the importance of mental health and reducing stigma. The week of May 11 through 17, 2025, was proclaimed as National Police Week, honoring law enforcement officers and acknowledging those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. National Public Works Week was also proclaimed, highlighting the essential services provided by the public works department.

Community engagement was a strong theme, as Council Member Moore expressed gratitude to the tree board and city staff for organizing the 50th annual tree giveaway event. Moore commended the careful planning and community involvement, including volunteers from the master gardeners, which contributed to the event’s success.

Registration for early summer programming through Oakdale Recreation was set to open soon, encouraging resident participation. The annual Jane Klein Memorial Spring Planting event was scheduled, focusing on reforestation efforts in Bethky Park, with enthusiasm expressed for community involvement.

The Summerfest event, scheduled from June 23rd to June 28th, was also highlighted. The event will feature a grand parade, concerts, and family-friendly activities. The council acknowledged the hard work of the volunteer organization responsible for organizing Summerfest and expressed anticipation for another successful year.
