Additionally, the City Hall faced an issue with its air conditioning system following a small fire. The smoke-damaged condensing unit requires replacement, and the council moved forward with obtaining quotes to address the issue. The current estimate stands at approximately $49,000, with insurance expected to cover the costs. The council authorized proceeding with the insurance claim process to expedite repairs.

The council also welcomed Carrie Opim, Executive Director of the Mloud County Food Shelf, who provided an organizational report. She detailed the food shelf’s mission to combat hunger and food insecurity, noting an increase in service demand since the onset of the pandemic. The organization operates multiple locations and a mobile outreach unit to serve residents across the county. Opim highlighted the community’s involvement through volunteering and donations, with upcoming campaigns to support their efforts.
