Superintendent Janet Ciarrocca took the stage to address the graduating eighth graders. The ceremony also highlighted the achievements and challenges faced by the eighth-grade class. Class valedictorian Bava Bardage delivered a speech filled with gratitude and reflections on the middle school experience. Bardage shared personal anecdotes about the challenges of writing essays under time constraints and navigating social experiences. He emphasized the importance of individuality and creativity, encouraging his peers to embrace their unique identities as they transition to high school. “It’s okay to be different,” Bardage stated, urging classmates to continue their journey with confidence and openness.

Class president Bonnie Singh added to the celebratory atmosphere with her address, humorously referring to middle school as the “awkward middle child” of education. Singh shared life lessons learned during her time at school, such as the importance of resilience, confidence, and kindness. Her speech resonated with the audience, highlighting the significance of cherishing memories made during these formative years.

The ceremony included a performance of “Pomp and Circumstance” by the seventh-grade band and orchestra, directed by Mr. English. After the processional, Ava Delipaz sang the national anthem.

One speaker shared a personal fishing anecdote, using it as a metaphor for life’s challenges. The story illustrated how plans can go awry despite careful preparation, teaching lessons in wisdom and judgment. The speaker encouraged the graduates to focus on what they can control and to rely on their training and support systems during difficult times. “Sometimes to be successful, you just have to stay calm and stay with it,” the speaker advised.

Following the speeches, the speaker officially certified the graduating class, acknowledging that they had met the requirements mandated by the North Brunswick Township Board of Education. This announcement was met with applause, as the eighth-grade house center team and instructional staff began the presentation of certificates to the graduates. Each student’s name was read aloud, and they were met with enthusiastic applause, contributing to the celebratory atmosphere of the event.

The ceremony concluded with a structured recessional, where parents and guests were instructed to remain seated until faculty and students had processed out. This orderly conclusion emphasized the importance of community and respect, as attendees were encouraged to exit in an organized fashion, meeting their children outside.
