The police department’s report highlighted their proactive efforts in community engagement and training. In June, officers participated in 142 community interactions and conducted 231 traffic stops, resulting in 21 summonses and 23 written warnings. The department also focused on extensive training, including de-escalation, firearms use, and force application. Notably, Chief Graio completed his chief security training, and other officers pursued courses in domestic violence response and administrative systems.

The council was informed about the ongoing Park Avenue project, which is progressing ahead of schedule, with completion expected by the end of July. Additionally, the shade tree commission is working on updating the community forestry management plan, a requirement that is overdue by a year but supported by a state grant.

Upcoming community events were announced, including the much-anticipated “mutt strut” at Well Park, the Market Off Center event on August 1, and the Home and Garden Tour on August 16. These events aim to strengthen community ties and promote local businesses.
