During the recent meeting of the Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission, a focus was placed on advancing cultural inclusivity through the nomination of three historic properties for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. These properties, the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder Building, the Phyllis Wheatley Community Center, and the Harry Davis Senior House, were selected as part of the Underrepresented Communities Grant initiative by the National Park Service. The procurement process for the National Register nominations is underway, with proposals due by August 4. This marks a continuation of efforts to preserve and recognize sites significant to the African-American history of Minneapolis.
