New Ulm Library Board Approves 2026 Fees and Fines Schedule Without Changes
- Meeting Overview:
In a recent meeting, the New Ulm Library Board approved the 2026 library fees and fines schedule, maintaining the same rates as the previous year. The board also addressed staffing changes, maintenance issues, and upcoming library programs.
The library board’s decision to keep the fees and fines unchanged from 2025 was a key outcome of the meeting. The schedule will be submitted to the city’s finance department for final approval by the city council.
In staffing news, the board discussed the resignations of library aide Heidi Schuof and library page Zach Lingal, with plans to fill these positions soon. A position for a library page is currently open, and applications are being accepted. Meanwhile, efforts to fill a maintenance technician position continue after a previous offer was declined.
The board also reviewed ongoing maintenance challenges, including issues with the air conditioning unit in the server room and the non-functional elevator keypad. Solutions are being sought with vendors to address these concerns.
Upcoming programming highlights include an author visit by Amy Greg on October 18, sensory play sessions for children and their caregivers, and the annual Friends of the Library book sale in early November. Additionally, the library will be closed for a staff training day on October 24 but will resume normal operations the following day.
The board acknowledged and accepted a total of $1,540.57 in cash and physical item donations received between July and September 2025, expressing gratitude to the donors for their continued support of the library’s initiatives.
