This financial support is expected to enhance the quality of education and resources available to students. The meeting featured recognition of students who achieved top scores in the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA) from the previous academic year. Students from grade three and up were honored for their perfect scores in subjects, including English Language Arts (ELA) and Math, with a special mention of a perfect score in Science by a fifth grader. The board acknowledged not only the students’ hard work but also the dedication of teachers, despite a scheduling conflict that prevented many educators from attending the ceremony.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the resolution of a long-standing issue with the roof at Stevenson School. The board successfully negotiated with the roofing company to repair the entire roof at no cost, avoiding the need for legal action and saving on potential legal fees. This resolution is expected to remediate the leak problems by spring.

The board also recognized the generous community contributions to the student council’s food drive and the ongoing Toys for Tots collection, emphasizing the importance of these initiatives in teaching students about community service and generosity. The board thanked the student council advisors and the Fairfield Police Department for their roles in these efforts.
