Superintendent Damian Kennedy reported on the overwhelming success of a recent food drive, which resulted in enough donations to fill eight to nine tables in a career technical room. The food drive has supported a steady flow of local families, with remaining items set to be donated to a food pantry. This community effort was acknowledged as an achievement.

In terms of infrastructure, the newly reopened Bixby gym was celebrated as a much-needed resource, having been closed for two months. The completion of the high school auditorium is also imminent, with minor technical work remaining before upcoming events, including the fall drama production of “Peter Pan.” This renovated space, described as having a calming, movie-theater ambiance, promises to enhance future school performances and events.

The meeting also addressed upcoming developments, including the initiation of work on a new media center. Scheduled for completion by April, this project represents the final major undertaking in the district’s referendum. Superintendent Kennedy expressed optimism about the thriving state of these spaces and the positive reception from students, particularly regarding the culinary program, where students are engaging in practical cooking experiences.
