Washington School noted a decrease in absenteeism but acknowledged that 66.2% of parents still need education on the matter. Their approach involves family engagement workshops and mentorship programs.

Lincoln Middle School expressed hope in leaving its absenteeism designation, noting higher eighth-grade absenteeism rates. They focus on engaging students through extracurricular activities to encourage attendance. The high school reported that senior students had the highest absenteeism rate at 25.54%. Illness remained a prevalent factor, and they faced challenges like low survey responses. The high school’s plan involves expanding incentives and improving communication with at-risk groups.

Following the absenteeism presentations, other topics included the announcement of a $200,000 impact grant for literacy enhancement. This grant, authored by Karen Pichin and Mercedes Alves, aims to improve literacy instruction and professional development by providing high-quality instructional materials and supporting preschool family engagement.

The board also reviewed the district’s financial health during the audit for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. The auditor reported a positive financial status, with the general fund showing over $43 million in cash and equivalents. Moreover, the district earned an unexpected $7 million in interest income.
