The annexation of the property located on Fuller’s Cross Road was the central focus of the meeting. The plot is situated at the northwest corner of the intersection with North Lakewood Avenue and falls within the State Road 429 overlay district’s interchange village character area. The Development Review Committee (DRC) had previously reviewed the annexation, finding no issues and recommending approval. The commission confirmed this approval, and a rezoning application is expected in the future.

Beyond the annexation, updates on ongoing development projects were shared. The apartments across from the high school have received a certificate of completion for their first phase, with further construction planned. Additionally, the Regency mixed-use project on Meguire Road is progressing well, with traffic signal improvements underway. The 429 Business Center is nearing completion, with tenant applications for interior build-outs being reviewed. Notably, a new sports training facility, 407 Sports, is set to occupy a 75,000-square-foot building, continuing the city’s focus on economic growth through athletic development.

The commission also discussed the progression of a pickleball facility, which is currently under review after addressing building permit issues. Similarly, a proposed hotel on Main Street is delayed due to Community Development District requirements but continues to move forward incrementally.
