Little Ferry School Board: Liberty School Project Progresses Smoothly; Topping-Off Ceremony Planned for January
- Meeting Overview:
At the recent Little Ferry School Board meeting, Superintendent Matthew A. Perrapato reported progress on the Liberty School expansion project. The construction, which includes the gym section, is advancing as scheduled, with a topping-off ceremony anticipated for mid-January. Other topics discussed included the promising financial status of the district’s food service program and the recognition of November’s “Students of the Month.”
Superintendent Perrapato detailed the ongoing construction at Liberty School, highlighting the completion of the gym section and the successful installation of vertical and horizontal steel beams. The foundation and footings are completed. The community was encouraged to stay updated on the project through the school’s website, where further inquiries can also be addressed.
In financial matters, the board secretary provided an update on the district’s finances, noting a profitable month for the food service program. Despite fewer serving days in November due to holidays and a teachers’ convention, the program reported a profit, buoyed by federal subsidies.
The meeting also celebrated the achievements of students recognized as “Students of the Month” for November. These students exemplified integrity and leadership, contributing positively to their school environments. Teachers praised their dedication, positive attitudes, and willingness to support classmates.
Additionally, the board touched on the preliminary planning for the 2026-2027 budget and upcoming policy adjustments related to library materials, following the Department of Education’s guidance on the Freedom to Read Act. These discussions reflect ongoing efforts to align district policies with state requirements and ensure comprehensive educational opportunities for all students.
