Young’s service to the community. During the meeting, Mayor Crate and EMS Director Jim Rickio presented a commendation to Ricardo Lopez, a paramedic EMT who was nominated for the National Paramedic of the Year award at the National EMS conference in Atlantic City. Rickio praised Lopez not only for his technical proficiency but also for his leadership as a tactical EMS commander and a field training officer. He highlighted Lopez’s ability to provide clinical excellence with compassion. The council recognized Lopez’s nearly two decades of service by proclaiming December 30th as Ricardo Lopez Day in Brick Township, which was met with enthusiastic applause from attendees.
The meeting continued with a tribute to Councilwoman Heather D. Young, who is stepping down after more than 12 years of service.
