In response, Superintendent Mr. Moore clarified that the district has always operated under a lottery system for UPK enrollment to ensure equity. He emphasized that while the district aims to expand the program fully, budgetary constraints and limited capacity necessitate the use of a lottery, which ensures all eligible three-year-olds have an equal chance regardless of financial background.

The meeting also marked the reorganization of the Board, with Brian Rock elected as President and Maria Vera as Vice President. Rock expressed gratitude for his reappointment and highlighted the Board’s achievements, such as expanding universal Pre-K, enhancing physical infrastructure, and focusing on curriculum improvements, especially at the middle school level. He expressed optimism for further progress and collaboration with the superintendent in the coming year.
