Superintendent Brian P. Gatens acknowledged the contributions of Kim Melman during her tenure as vice president, citing her efforts in advocating for quality education and improved board processes. Lee extended congratulations to Thompson, noting the contributions she is expected to make in her new role.

A discussion followed on the board’s strategic plan, which aims to enhance curriculum instruction, district culture, health and wellness, and infrastructure. The plan was developed with input from community members, staff, and board representatives. Lee encouraged the public to review the strategic plan on the district’s newly redesigned website, emphasizing transparency and community involvement in educational progress.

The meeting also recognized the contributions of school board members during School Board Recognition Month, as declared by former Governor Murphy. The board members serve voluntarily, driven by their commitment to public education and community service.

Superintendent Gatens welcomed the new assistant superintendent, Andrew Cobin, who could not attend due to illness. Gatens expressed excitement about Cobin’s anticipated contributions and leadership in the district.
