Bloomingdale Borough Council Mourns Loss of Community Member and Discusses Future Projects
- Meeting Overview:
The recent meeting of the Bloomingdale Borough Council addressed several topics, including the passing of a beloved community member, the introduction of initiatives at the local library, and upcoming municipal projects. A moment of remembrance was held for Alisa Cole, a long-time member of the Economic Development Commission, who passed away recently. Her contributions, such as spearheading the banner project on Main Street, were highlighted, and condolences were extended to her family. Additionally, the council acknowledged the passing of Tony Hassan, a crossing guard and prominent community figure, extending sympathies to her family as well.
In another development, the Bloomingdale Library announced it will no longer charge late fees, a change that received positive feedback from the community. Former library board members Robert Blood and Karen Kirby were recognized for their over 20 years of combined service. The library also launched a new streaming service, Campy, accessible with a library card, to increase digital access for residents.
The council also discussed various municipal projects. Test pits for the Ann and Elm project commenced, and a pre-construction meeting for the senior center project is scheduled. Efforts to hire a seasonal employee for the Department of Public Works are underway, with plans to include this on the next month’s agenda.
