The recent Livingston Town Council meeting, led by Mayor Michael M. Vieira, was marked by the recognition of community champions and the discussion of significant local initiatives. Heidi Bl, a local influencer, was honored for her contributions to local businesses and charities, while Sterling Properties celebrated their 30th anniversary in Livingston and their positive impact on the community. Additionally, the Council explored the implementation of the Community Development Block Grant program, which provides federal funding for projects benefiting low and moderate-income residents.
Heidi Bl, known for promoting local restaurants through her social media and podcast Behind the Counter, received high praises from the council. The Council members, including Alfred M. Anthony and Rosaura Bagolie, lauded Bl for her relentless promotion of local businesses and her role in raising funds for various local charities. Bl expressed her gratitude for the honor and reaffirmed her love for Livingston, highlighting the close-knit nature of the community.
In the same vein, Sterling Properties, a staple in the Livingston community for the past three decades, was recognized by the council. Their commitment to the town and numerous contributions were acknowledged with a citation from the Council. Council members Shawn R. Klein and Barry R. Lewis, Jr., the Township Manager, spoke highly of the company’s deep roots in the town and its substantial positive impact.
Moving onto policy matters, the Council addressed the Community Development Block Grant program. This federal initiative aims to provide funding for low and moderate-income projects, an endeavor that could significantly improve the quality of life for many Livingston residents.
A public hearing for the grant application was held, and various resolutions were considered as part of the consent agenda, including budget appropriations and special items of revenue. In response to residents’ requests during the public portion of the meeting, the council promised to investigate the possibility of a new street light and a road repair.
The meeting concluded with a discussion on entering a closed executive session to discuss various matters, including litigation, property acquisition, and volunteer personnel. The next meeting has been scheduled for December 18th.
