In addition to the extension request, the board approved a variance for Daniela Garcia and Jairo Cardona to construct a larger 10-by-24-foot shed at their property on Deerfield Road. This variance was necessary as the proposed size exceeded the borough’s limit of 150 square feet for sheds and increased the maximum building coverage from 20% to 25%. The couple plans to use the shed primarily as a gym and storage space and assured the board that it would not be used for business purposes.

Another decision involved granting bulk variances for a property on Johnson’s Lane, allowing homeowners to proceed with a substantial expansion project. This project includes adding a second floor and a two-car garage to the existing structure, which required variances for front and side yard setbacks, building coverage, and impervious surface limits. The homeowners emphasized that the expansion would provide necessary living space for their family within the constraints of the current property layout.
